What i said was UK is a land flowing with milk and honey for the hard-working types. Can u tell me the reason why a Nigerian will not get a high paying job if he takes certification exams and pass very well? I knw a dude that arrived in UK in January and took some Software Testing courses which he passed although he paid about £1000 for training/exams but he now works as a financial analyst for BT ( British Telecoms)and he pockets £1250 every week. He carries a green passport just like other Nigerians in the UK and he doesn't know anyone here so rule out connections. If every Nigerian in UK work as hard as this dude then no one will complain of any hardship or racism. |
@ Praetor, Did u just say Nigerians are hard-working? Can u tell me the ratio of the Nigerians that are working to the non-working Nigerians in the UK? The ratio is almost 1 to 10. Only 1 out of 10 Nigerians that walk the streets of UK are working. Others are just looking for one job or the other to pull to make money. U cannot really blame 'em because most of 'em don't even have the required papers to stay/work and they resort to odd jobs that don't really check background documents. Go to Belmarsh Prisons and see the number of Nigerian youths langishing in the jail cells for one vice or the other. Dont let us deceive ourselves here. An average Nigerian is lazy compared to 'em Eastern Europeans or the Asians in the UK. A normal Nigerian dude wants to drive a Mercedes Maybach(£450,000) months after arriving in UK without breaking a sweat and u feel Nigerians are hard-working? I am having a laugh. ![]() |
@ Akolawole, I am kind of surprised u think my comments are juicy. The problem with Nigerians in the UK is they tend to believe nothing good is achievable. For your information, i know at least 20 people in my neighbourhood working with Banks and Telecoms company as IT experts and earning more than £1000 a week easily. Most of 'em are on contracts and to get these jobs are very easy as long as one is certified. Getting a NI(National Insurance) is easy as long as your visa allows u to work. All she needs to do is to go to a job centre and arrange for an interview and she will get her NI number in about 2 weeks. Nigerians limit 'emselves to petty jobs because most Nigerians are lazy and they want the easiest way to make Benjy'z. Master Degree holders filling the shelves in Tesco, Asda and Morrisons are the pessimistic group of Nigerians in the UK. The ones that have been mis-led and mis-guided that a Black Man will never make it to the top of the echelon. I cannot understand why u think getting jobs is very difficult in UK. There are billions of jobs out there and as long as u are qualified u will get these jobs. Accomodation is a bit on the high side for everyone living in London but hey, this is Europe just like it is in Nigeria. People staying in Lagos pay more on rents and earn more compared to their counterparts staying in Kogi State or Zamfara State. So be prepared to earn less dough if u want to stay outside London. UK is a land flowing with milk and honey as long as u can work hard to get these certifications. There are plenty of jobs at the London Underground. Protection Masters at the London Underground still get paid as much as £120 a day but the lazy Nigerians will rather work at ASDA and Sainsbury because he/she does not want to read and take exams for high paying jobs. My Advice: Run back to UK before your visa runs out. |
FIFA should carry the blame. It was FIFA that wanna clamp down on players who dive, Keepers who waste time romancing the ball, Dangerous tackles, Dissents and Professional fouls. How can the Refs achieve this without flashing 'em cards? Its impossible. Looking back at the Portugal V Holland match, all the cards given were deserved and it should have been more. Figo should have been carded for his head-butt on the Dutch player. I cannot believe the 6 second count deadline given to Goalkeepers for goal-kicks. Anything after 6 seconds automatically attracts a yellow card. Its absurd. |
@ Bibibabe, MY ADVICE: Get the next available flight back to the UK. UK is a land of opportunity as long as u can swim with the sharks and wrestle with 'em alligators. I stay in the UK but currently schooling in the US so i know how the system works in the UK. Making money in the UK is very easy if u work very hard and go for broke. Loadz of Nigerians here in UK kind of under-estimate their worth/values and they lack confidence when it comes to job hunting and thatz why most of 'em remain stagnant and do odd jobs like cleaning or security jobs. Its a big fat cake out there in the UK and a lot of smart Nigerian dudes are fast taking their chances. For instance, i know some IT jobs that pay a staggering £350-£600 a day on CONTRACT. Take IT courses like Bid Support Modelling ,PDM(Physical Database Management), Software Testing, CCNP or even management courses(PRINCE 2 or Project management) and u cannot be far from at least £300-400 a day. These are jobs that don't even require u to have any degree. All u need is just pass the certification exams and get on board with smart jobs in areas like Canary Wharf or Canada Water where things r happening. I don't think there is any job in Nigeria that will pay 100,000 Naira a day. Even 419s/Drug Pushers+ armed robbers don't make as much as that. Do the math and think of how much u will make in 6 months at this rate. I wish ya Goodluck. |
It was that asshole David Dein that pressured SVEN into the freaky idea. Thank God he's been voted off the FA board. I hate his guts |
.France played well and the Spaniards will find 'emselves to blame for the loss. The Spaniards played well until the 60th minute when Aragones started making ridiculous substitutions. Brazil will roast France this time around. Robinho + Ronaldinho + Ronaldo will reduce the french defence to ashes. I know everyone feels Brazil wasn't too impressive today but the point is Brazil plays exactly what u throw at 'em. Brazil plays weak when they play weak teams and they play real good when faced with a stiffer opposition. Don't be deceived. Brazil will pulverise France easily. |
@ toshman, I dont understand why u beef Brazil this much. Don't u think it was a big ASK for the Ghananians to beat Brazil? How can that happen? Brazil is not impressive and yet they have scored 7 goals in the last 2 matches. Lets call a spade what it is. These South Americans are awesome and will crush, bludgeon and demolish anything that crosses their path. The only team that can clog Brazil's wheels of fortune is their notorious neighbour(Argentina). @ Opeyemi2, Germany's next game will definitely be their last game at this mundial. Argentina will take the Germans to the cleaners with their enfantz terrible( Messi + Tevez). I feel for Germany cos Argentina will take 'em back to school with audacious passes and the sublime skills of Riquelme will wear the German defence down. |
Goalllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ze Roberto sprung a weak offside trap to lob the ball over the Ghananian goalie to make it 3-0. Ghana has been demolished by a tactially-balanced Brazilian side. Sometimes u don't need to sweat to get victories. No Brazilian staff is under pressure even the Brazilian manager. @toshman, Never ever under-estimate the might of the Brazilians. They are very good and will play accordingly to what the opposition throws at 'em. Only Argentina can stop this Brazil team. |
This prophet should be castrated for making such an awful prediction. How can Ghana beat Brazil? Ghana cannot even beat a 9-man team of Brazil let alone a full squad. |
The Africans in front of goal are horrendous and very shambolic. The final ball needs to be precise and must at least hit the target. The Ghananians can use the ball well but they need to put their acts together in front of goal. Waaaaat? A Ghananian defender nearly scored an own-goal. What a Arrow. |
I don't understand how some folks are analysing football. Brazil is leading 2-0. The initiative to attack lies with Ghana. I am amazed Nairalanders expect a team leading by 2-0 to run chaos for 90 minutes. Y'all guys should remember this is not the final and Ghana will def'ly be the weakest team Brazil will play so let Brazil conserve their ammo for stiffer teams. Brazil is playing real good to ward off tha Ghananians assault/attack and they r doing it pretty well. |
Even if Ghana plays an all African star team they cannot win Brazil. The clue is: no matter how small a team is Brazil will let u play. Brazil do not force issues like the Italians or the French side throwing dangerous tackles all over the pitch which is why Ghana looked so good in the 1st half. I expect Brazil to bang in 3 more goals to complete the rout. Adriano made it easier for the Ghananians because had he teed Ronaldo with a good pass earlier on Ronaldo would have scored the 2nd goal which woul have killed the Ghananians morale. Anywayz, Ghana has not really disappointed me in terms of competing and good use of the ball but their defence have been woeful generally. |
@ Akola, I am not even blaming Sven Goatie Eriksson for taking Theo Walcott to the world cup but why leave him on the bench especially when Owen is now ruled out for the rest of the tournament. Eriksson should start playing the traditional 4-4-2 cos the 4-1-4-1 formation will not work against a mentally-fit Portugese side. I think Sven goofed it by dropping Defoe for Walcott but he should be prepared to take risks and play Walcott in subsequent matches. |
In modern days, Football result is much more prefered. No one cares if u do all the playing. Goals win matches not flicks, crisp passes or show-boating. Barcelona is the only team in the world that has been able to consistently display good football skills with good results and thats why they r the best team in the world. |
Ghana's got no chance against the Brazilians. Ronaldinho n Robinho will make a meal outta the Ghananian defence today. Brazil will thump Ghana by 3 goals to nil. @ Sandra baby, U look ravishing. |
Argentina has to score. They are marginally better than Mexico. That is the best goal of this tournament. Sepp Blatter should give the Argies the world cup tonight. The Argies have shown the world what they r capable of. GO ARGY GO ARGY GO |
These Swiss referees are bastardz. Aimar and Messi were clearly on-side. Messi's goal should have counted. What a shame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will be gutted if the Argy's don't win tonight. They have done more than enough to win it. Visually-impaired line assistants should be banned henceforth. |
Argentina to win this by miles. Riquelme is the best player yet seen at this mundial. He has overshadowed Ronaldinho. His passes r telegraphic and spot-on. All y'all Argy haters should watch out when the dynamic duo of Carlos Tevez and Leo Messi comes on. Y'all guys are going to see the best attacking football since 1986. Tevez + Messi + Crespo= Basket of Goalzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz |
France has been disgraceful without a doubt. They have not been able to orchestrate good football even with the wealth of fine players they have got. Henry is the major culprit as he always squander his chances in front of goal. He cares more about scoring champagne goals instead of just blasting the ball into the net like our own Yekini. Leave Henry on the bench and France will play well. |
@ Otolorin, With all due respect, I think Arsene is a fool for saying the French coach is wrong. What was Wenger's tactics in the UEFA champions league that pushed Arsenal all the way to the finals? Was it not the same 4-5-1 formation? Henry all alone as a lone striker? Please, There's nuthing wrong with the tactics. Its the players that are complacent not the formation. If Henry had taken all his chances against Korea then BBC and Arsene will not be saying heresys and bullsh*t. It's going to be a big ASK but i think France will do better if Henry does not start. Saha and Trezeguet will offer more than Henry @ this mundial. No striker in this world cup plays the same formation he plays in his club. Every striker has to adapt with different tactics and formation so i dunno the fuss about Henry. Is he the only one faced with this change? Lets call a spade a spade. Henry does not live to expectation on the big arena. Period!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Prophet of Doom. A team that gathered 6 points without conceeding a goal is having its worst outing? What if they were having the best outing? They wld have scored 100 goals with 60 points? U r feeling this way because ur expectations on Brazil is too hyper. For Bleep sake, Its only 11 Brazilians against 11 players of other teams. The difference will always be a moment of brilliance from one or two players in the Brazil ranks to win the game. Its the World Cup. Group stages can be deceiving and u should also expect some teams to get better as the competition progresses. Watch out for Brazil when the competition reaches the K.O. stages. The men will be seperated from the boiz. |
@ Kitaun, U spew dirt more than real wordz. How did Henry silence Van Nistelrooy? Some heads just open their mouths just because they like the sound of their voices on Nairaland. Henry being admired by Sheva? I am having a laugh. What has Henry won individually that Sheva hasn't won? Sheva has taken his out of Serie A to be the all time leading scorer in UEFA champions league plus he has been named European player of the year. All y'all Henry cock-suckers should go n bury your nappy heads in shame. Henry is the fakest striker to have ever graced the game of football. Hate mails are welcome. @ Superman, Man Utd has proven times without number that no player is bigger than the club. Its only in Arsenal that the Manager has to beg a fake player to stay. No one does that at Man United. Beckham, Andy Cole, Yorke and Jaap Stam were all sold when it seemed they were all found wanting. Its a big club and not a community club like Arsenal where Henry calls the shotz and even selects the team. Let it be known that if Rooney misbehaves today Ferguson will hock his ass off to Germany or Italy. Utd can afford to let Ruud go because Ruud is now 30 and Utd is building for the future. Ruud has paid its dues. A player who scored 150 goals for United in the last 5 years is great and Old Trafford will miss him but life has to go on. The dream attack every Red Devil is craving for is Ronaldo + Rooney + Torres. |
I dunno why all y'all are biting at each other's throat. Dont let us analyse off the topic. Leave Frank Lampard and Kanu out of this. Henry is over-rated as far as i am concerned. This won't be his 1st major disappointment in big tournaments. How can u justify the fact that Henry has NEVER SCORED from a Zidane's pass in 53 ODD GAMES they have played together? The most obvious one was the slide-rule pass Zizou gave Henry against the Koreans recently and Henry goofed it like a donkey that he is. If i wanna call spade a spade Henry will not make the list of the top 10 strikers in the world at the moment. Torres, Ruud, Van Persie, Robben, Adriano, Sheva, Luca Toni, Pauleta and Klose are the reigning kings. |
@ christino, Ya analysis is a bit watery. A player of Henry's quality should be scoring easily in the World Cup. He scored yesterday and so freaking what? He had anutha one on one chance that cld have put the game beyond the Koreans and what happened? He squandered it. In the Premiership, he wld have scored in the same scenario which makes me think Henry panics at the big stage. What Henry can do Park can do the same or even better. I like the look on Gallas face when J S Park scored the winner last night. Man U players are delivering the goods out there in Germany. MAN U FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
France didn't disappoint. Thierry Henry was the major screw-up. He always fail to rise to the occasion at the big stage. Saha was more lethal and wld have made some impact if he had started the game. France will suffer if they dont get their acts right ASAP. |
@ Akola, I remembered Nigeria demolishing Ivory Coast @ Tunisia 94. Nigeria bludgeoned 'em 4-1 in lagos @ the world cup qualifiers for USA 94. Cote D'Ivorie with the help of the referee and *samson siasia lost to 'em 1-2 at Abidjan in the same qualifiers. * Siasia was the major cause for this loss when he failed to pass the ball to Yekini. can u remember? Yekini also put paid to their hopes @ Algiers '90 when he scored a header from a corner-kick. The Super Eagles are the Brazil of Africa. No other African team can compare with the avalanche of talents Nigeria can boast of. Don't u dare compare Eagles to the Elephants. U heard? |
Federer will bounce back with vengeance in this month's Wimbledon Open. Letz see how Nadal will put up agaimst the masters of the lawn. |
Na wa o. What has race gotta do with this? Theo Walcott hasn't kicked a ball in the Premiership and he went to the world cup. Is he caucasian? Pls lets avoid sentiments on Nairaland. Darren Bent blows hot n cold and he is not matured yet to represent England at the big stage. End of discussion. |
@ AKOLA, His substitutions were ok compared to Eriksson's subs. The Argies were leading 2-0 and the Ivoriens were looking shambolic and unrefined. What do u expect a manager that's got an eye on Holland to do? Risk Crespo n Saviola to sustain injury in a match that's already been won? Pekerman knew the Ivoriens wldn't have anything to offer so he took the risk and it paid off. Watch out for Messi and Tevez when the heat comes. Baq to your questions. 1) I have seen enough Nigeria/Cote D'Ivoire matches to sink "The Titanic". U cannot compare the 2 teams at all. I don't blame u but our own mis-managed NFA who allowed complacency to eat deep into our football. Nigeria should be qualifying for the World Cup easily. 2) Eagles would have done better than Cote D'Ivoire against Argentina. Eagles played better than 'em in the last CAN in january. Drogba's controversial goal was the difference. We demolished em in Tunisia 94. 3) Don't even go to the leagues. Our cream of players don't even play in Africa so forget about the leagues. All the leagues in Africa are nuthing to write HOME about. |
@ Akola Unless u watched another match. Argentina blew Ivory Coast apart with the neatest of passes conjured by Riquelme. Nigeria could have done better than Ivory Coast. Kalou was a shadow of himself(Mourinho will be wondering if he can have his money back) Eboue was used and abused all thru the match but there were some few positives on the part of the Ivoriens Drogba was relentless and Dindane and Yaya Toure were excellent. I am going to take it personal the next time u compare the Ivorien team to the Super Eagles. Nigeria whupped Bulgaria on their debut at USA 94. We all know how strong Bulgaria was at that time having qualified ahead of England and with mercurial stars like Stoichkov. Ivory Coast lost on their debut and u dare compare 'em with the Super eagles? Is this a joke or u r just supporting Cote D'Ivoire because of Chelski's Drogba? I am an African but i think Argentina were better tactically n technically. Pekerman substituted his strikers because he had a bigger match against Holland and that was when Drogba and co really started to create chances. Gabriel Heinze proved why he is the best left back defender in England. He made Drogba look like a primary school striker. I back Argentina to go very far in this tournament. Wait and watch when the whizz-kids Tevez and Messi joins the action soon. Cote D'Ivorie ma ass. |
