@ Akola,
U need to go and see the match again.
Dinho was too awesome and his passes and composure was top-notch.
Almunia tried his best cos he made important save before the break.
I think Henry was the major let down cos if he had taken at least one of em chances then the match wld have been forced to extra-time and maybe a penalty shoot-out.
All Rijkaard's substitutions were sublime. Iniesta added some drive and urgency in the midfield. Larsson was simply magical and Belleti had to scored his 1st goal in 2 years against an Arsenal that hasn't conceeded in 10 matches. What an irony?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Barcelona Fc Vs Arsenal Fc ( 2005/2006 Uefa Champions League Final) by Jackal(m): 12:42am On May 18, 2006
@ Akola,
Arsenal's defence must have felt his impact.
Ronaldinho's presence is enough to make anyone go jittery. He show-boats just like Pele and Maradona has done in the past and i think he has become one of 'em legends now.
He kept the ball well and he made some good passes. He fed Etoo the through-pass that caused Lehmann's red-card and he created Etoo's 2nd chance that Almunia parried against his post.
The red-card really affected the general game-play because Arsenal was too defensive and it was difficult for Barca to penetraate the fortress until Larsson's ingenuity sank the Gunners.
Ronaldinho wasn't at his best by his own standards but he didn't disappoint me as a fan.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Barcelona Fc Vs Arsenal Fc ( 2005/2006 Uefa Champions League Final) by Jackal(m): 11:46pm On May 17, 2006
@ Akolawole,
One killer pass made Maradona a legend against Brazil in Italia 90.
Ronaldinho's presence was always a problem for the young gunners who became jittery as time wore on.
I have noticed ur biased comments against Ronaldinho ever since he eliminated Chelski outta the UCL.
Whether u like him or not he is better than all Chelski players wrapped up in one.
His overall contribution wasn't bad and he wld have played better if the match was played with 11 V 11.
The Ref took the hues and shine off the game by sending Lehmann out cos Arsenal had to be defensive for most parts of the game.
Ronaldinho is unarguably the best player on the planet so stop hating.

Henry has never clicked outside England. He is yet to justify his prowess at the big stage.
He was a disappointment at the last world cup. His Champions league form has been woeful except this season where he took his team to the final.
The last Euro 2004 was shambolic for him and he made no visible impact for France.
I won't be surprised if he fails to shine in Germany next month.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Barcelona Fc Vs Arsenal Fc ( 2005/2006 Uefa Champions League Final) by Jackal(m): 11:17pm On May 17, 2006
@ Akolawole,
Sometimes u can be too biased with ur comments.
Ronaldinho was too awesome today.
He supplied the killer pass that resulted in Lehmann's sending-off. Had the foolish Referee ruled it as a goal u wont be here saying Ronaldinho did nothing.
The Ref spoilt the match for both teams. Guily's goal should have stood and Eboue should have been carded with his theatrical dive that led to Campbell's goal.

My man of the match is Henrik Larsson. He played a major part in all the goals Barca scored tonight and props should be given to Rijkaard for the substitution. He deployed Larsson just the way he did against Chelski at the Bridge in February to win the match.

Barcelona is the best team in Europe and they deserved the win. No defence in the world can keep a clean sheet against the tremendous trio of Dinho,Etoo and Guily. Arsenal can always try next time and do more on their character and composure.

Arsenal played very well but it was always going to be difficult with the constant waves of attack that Barca was throwing at the defence.
Thierry Henry was the most disappointing player out there tonight. He has proven to be a local champion in England and a toothless dog in other competitions. His execution was shambolic and he was the major cause of the defeat tonight.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Who Will Win The Uefa Champions League by Jackal(m): 11:02pm On May 17, 2006
Who cares about being spectacular?
Barcelona has won the UEFA champions league and Arsenal should bury their heads in shame for their woeful display.
I told all y'all from the beginning that Arsenal lacks the character to push the game beyond the finish line.
We all saw how Man Utd dug in against Bayern Munich to score 2 goals in after the 90th minute in 1999 UCL finals.
Liverpool scored 3 goals against the mighty Milan team last year to force the game into penalty shoot-out.
Its the manner by which the gunners lost that gutted me the most. A team leading 1-0 should have held the fort at the back to curb the ever-rampaging Barca team.
Henry had a glorious chance to kill the game but he just scuffed it. Arsenal has just disgraced the English Premiership at the biggest stage and its so saaaaad.
The Norwegian Referee should be shot for making stupid calls throughout the match.
Guily's goal should have stood and Lehmann should have been yellow-carded.

@ Nightider,
Do u sincerely believe in your heart of hearts that this young Arsenal team can conquer the Premiership next season?
Please have it mind that Pires and Henry might leave and this is going to set the team back for another 10 matches before they get their strides back.
It took Arsenal 3 months to get used to Vieira's exit. How many months do u think it will take to do without Henry?
Arsenal will be very lucky to make Top 6 should Thierry Henry leaves Arsenal after the world cup.
The major contenders of the league next season are Chelski, Man Utd and the Scousers.
Arsenal needs another full season to make the team gel before they can challenge for the title.

U even had the guts to say Chelsea plays boring football.
Tell me son, What are the Gunners playing using a 4-5-1 formation @ UCL?
Arsenal also plays boring tactics and Wenger is a bloody hypocrite.
He has accused Chelsea and Bolton of using boring tactics in the past and he's been using it now to hunt for European glory.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Who Is The Best Premiership Coach ? by Jackal(m): 11:56am On May 12, 2006
@ Hucarson,
Well analysed.
Managers should be rated based on improvements on their previous seasons.
I think Rafa,Redknapp,Jewell have all done so well.

Mourinho didn't really mprove although he didn't disappoint as well.

Martin Jol did a wonderful job at Spurs.
I cannot remember the last time Spurs went to Highbury without gettin beaten black n blue.
Jol has changed htings around a lot and made some reasonable buys.
Spurs is the team of the season. I admire players like Carrick,Mido and the new sensation,Lennon.

Wenger failed woefully if we are to rate him based on his previous seasons in the Premiership.
Losing 11 matches this season is very poor by Arsenal's own high standards.
2 seasons ago he went 49 matches unbeaten which was a very remarkable feat.
Arsenal fans will quickly say he was re-building but nearly all the managers in the Premiership had similar problems of rebuilding.

Argentina looks the favourite to me.
England will be close but the team lacks the guile to push things to the finish line.
Brazil are the best team on paper but sometimes the best team does not win. U can mention 12 good strikers but the team can only use 3 strikers(max) in a match.
It aint possible to have Ronaldo,Ronaldinho,Adriano,Robinho,Baptiste,Kaka,Ze Roberto and Juninho play at the same time in a match.
Brazil runs the risk of error in team selection.
This was the same problem the team had in Spain 82 and Mexico 86.
Sports › Re: Disappointing Strikers In 2005/2006 English Premiership by Jackal(m): 11:00am On May 11, 2006
@ debosky,
U have said it all.
A top quality side like Chelsea should have a goal-poacher that will deliver 25-30 goals in a season.
The defence and the midfield is top-draw and should be a good foundation to build relentless attacks but Chelsea hasn't found the solution to their striking department.
Etoo scores 25-30 goals every season @ Barca. Why is it so difficult for a £24m Drogba to score at least 20 goals in the last 2 seasons even when Andy Johnson and Darren Bent have done so in clubs with less quality.

In ma mind's eye i think Didier Drogba is the most disappointing striker the Premiership has ever seen.
Obafemi Martins or even Rasheed Yekini would have done a better job.
Sports › Re: Premiership's Worst Buys: Wright Phillips Tops The List by Jackal(m): 10:33am On May 11, 2006
Brazilian team in 1986 is the best team Brazil has taken to any world cup.
Careca is of a different class and Zico and Socrates were just too phenomenal but sometimes the best teams don't win.
Brazil got knocked out by France by a penalty shoot-out. Any team can lose to that as evident in Milan V Liverpool last season or Man Utd V Arsenal at the last FA cup final.

Did u say Jose developed McCarthy?
Get ur facts right. Bennie was already a finished product before Jose even knew him. Bennie was the highest goal scorer in CAN 1998. He played for AJAX in 1999 where he was impressive and helped the team win the dutch league,he scored important UEFA champions league goals in the same season and scored South Africa's 1st ever goal at the 1998 world cup.

Positive skills that lead to goals is very vital key and thats why i like Lampard  so much.
A player with no visible skills but his output is very lethal and a moment of his brilliance can win matches.
In the same vein, don't u think football will be boring without Dinho's dance against Chelsea last season. Okocha's mesmerizing flicks against Arsenal in 2002-03 or Denilson's multiple leg-overs at France 98?
Maybe u should see the Joga Bonito commercial of Ronaldinho. Its simply awesome.
Sports › Re: Is Theo Walcott Worth The Salt? by Jackal(m): 10:15am On May 11, 2006
@ Akola,
As much as i am an ardent Man Utd fan, i think Eriksson's decision was spot-on.
Luiz Ronaldo of Brazil went to USA 94 @ 18 years without kicking a ball but the experience moulded him to become the greatest striker the game has ever produced.
Lets hope Walcott will develop in the same manner. WALCOTT's age is another big factor here. He's always going to have a surprise package in him than a Darren Bent we already know what he is capable of.
I support Walcott's call-up just like i backed up Eguavoen's inclusion of Mikel Obi at the last CAN 2006.
Lets give these lil' boys a chance to express 'emselves.

Its a shame u keep posting the stats on English Premiership.
Pls post Henry's stats outside the Premiership.
I wanna see his stats for France, Champions League, FA cup and even Carling Cup.
I have isolated his scoring prowess in the Premiership due to his squad size.

Its even more appaling when u posted the 2004-05 season.
A season where Van Nistelrooy only made 16 premiership appearances due to injury and Henry made 35.
I know a fool like u will still expect Ruud to score more than Henry in that season.
P.S. Ruud still went on to snatch the Golden Boot of UEFA champions league in 2004/05 despite the fact that United got knocked out at the 2nd round K.O.
Sports › Re: Premiership's Worst Buys: Wright Phillips Tops The List by Jackal(m): 9:23am On May 11, 2006
SWP is a good player and wld have done better in clubs like Arsenal,Liverpool or Man United.
Mourinho is not a genius when it comes to player development. He is now more concerned about using finished products.
Little wonder he is dying to have Michael Ballack and Tevez in his squad.

SWP was immense in the 2004-05 season for Man City and he scored important goals for club and country but Jose has clogged up the lil boy's wheels to play at the world cup.

@Akola
I beg to disagree with u when u stated English Players are not very intelligent especially coming from a Chelsea fan.
The most consistent players in Chelsea's ranks are English players(Terry,Joe Cole and Lampard)
English players r top notch players and it is well known they have the best crop of central defenders in the world today.

It also fazed me when u mention u don't like players that do flicks n thrills.
U must realise some players r born to make things happen. Ronaldinho,Okocha and Cristiano Ronaldo belong to this class.
C. Ronaldo is not yet a finished product. He is just 21 and he has another 5-7 years to add to his career. U can always expect him to get better.
Okocha was worse than Ronaldo in the mid-90s and Ronaldinho was a waste of space at PSG. Even Batty Ogbeche was prefered to Ronaldinho but can u say the same now about Dinho?
I love to see the flicks and tricks in football, what about u?

U dont have to take the kizzack so personal.
These r facts and not myths.
Nobody will remember the 2nd best in years to come so cut Henry's awards out of this.
I can remember George Weah won the world footballer of the year in 1995 but i cannot remember who came 2nd in the same year.
Henry is a second best and will continue to be second best if he does not step up his game outside the British Channels.
Awards dont even add up sometimes to justify players ability.
Maradona never won any award as a footballer and he is the greatest footballer ever. So Bleep FIFA awards.
I am more concerned about a player's individual efforts on the pitch for both his club and country.
Henry has been prolific for club and he is not just there for country.

Only a fool does not know the Spanish La Liga is better than The English Premiership.

The English Premiership only comes atop when it comes to organisation and stuffs because a lot of money is spent on the league but the quality of football is better in La Liga.

2 seasons ago,Arsenal went unbeaten in a full season of 38 games. This simply shows a weakness in the English league. It will never happen in La Liga because the difference between the bottom team and the top teams aint large like we have in the English league.

The difference between the top 4 teams in the England and the others is annoyingly humungous. The Premiership can never change. Arsenal, Chelsea, Man utd and Liverpool will continue to dominate the league till Kingdom come.
