U must give it to Mourinho. He has been able to make himself the most important figure in Chelsea ranks. Arsenal plays a match and everyone is keen to hear Henry say his bit on post-match interviews. Fans lie in wait to hear Rooney or Van Nistelrooy comment on his goals but its different with Chelsea. Journalists prefer to hear Mourinho out for post-match comments than any player in Chelsea even if such player bags a hatrick in the match. Mourinho's post match interview at Nou Camp when they got eliminated in UCL is the largest gathering ever witnessed in football history. ![]() |
Ferguson just wanted an attack line that will blend for so many years. He is relying on the age of Rooney, Ronaldo and Torres to sort his attacking prowess out. The 3 lads are just under 22 years of age and the combo will be very devastating. I really wanna see Torres in United shirt. He deserves better than plying his trade at Athletico Madrid. He looks like the kinda player that will bang 25+ goals if he becomes a Red Devil. |
@ debosky, Heinze has fared well and Veron was extremely good. Injury played poker on Veron. Cristiano Ronaldo is doing extremely well for his age. Kleberson was a national deception. He is the only Brazilian fooballer i know that cannot play to save his momma's ass. Diego Forlan was immense in his 1st season but he just fizzled out after some time(don't know why) I expect Torres to perform especially when the Chief critic(Roy Keane) has now left United. |
@ Gunner, He said so. Mourinho is just too funny. He has added excitement to the Premiership. I saw him on Skysports news today saying his new hair-cut shows he is ready for war with other teams. ![]() |
Ferguson is just using his mind games. He is stalling the transfer cos he aint sure yet about who replaces Nistelrooy. Fergie will sell Ruud as soon as Fernando Torres deal goes through. |
@ Grizzly, Pls knock down that signature today. I'm already having nightmares about that slim-wimp taking a piss on United everyday. Why is his bladder so messed-up? He should keep his pee-pee in his panties. ![]() |
@ debosky, Thats an expensive joke. Ronaldo to Arsenal? Arsenal should buy the Glazers as well if they want Xtiano. |
@ Bagoma, Pls dont hate. Appreciate. ![]() The shirt aint that bad and thatz ADIDAS design for the year 2006. Nigeria, Argentina, Germany have the same design but a different colour. U wldn't feel this way if that was Arsenal's football shirt, wld u? |
@ Loyika, U know what? Just join Man United and u will worry less. ![]() Maybe u have the doctored version of MUTV Please subscribe through SKYTV or NTL and u will get the explicit version of MUTV. ![]() On a serious note, Nairaland gooners are the most fanatic Arsenal fans i have ever encountered. I don't know where this started from but i believe its prevalent amongst all Nigerian fans that support Arsenal. Can loyika tell me why Arsenal fans in Lagos were attacking/assaulting Barca fans on the day of the Champions League finals? Heard they even painted a live cow with an O2 crest engraved on it. Isn't that a mile too far? U seem to be getting this discussion twisted. Fans have the right to criticise their players but not crucify him. Ruud is leaving Man Utd but that does not gimme the right to crucify him. I can only wish him well because he has been phenomenal for the club. Ashley Cole has been instrumental to Arsenal as well and i believe he deserves some respect from y'all fans. This is the same way y'all guys crucified Patrick Vieira in spite of his immense contribution to Arsenal by winning trophies year after year. Is not ironic that it was the season Vieira left that Arsenal failed to win a single trophy? Ashley deserves better from u guys and please wish him well in his endeavours. Personally, i like Cole and it shouldn't matter which club he decides to play and ply his trade. He paid his dues thoroughly and Arsene deserted him when it mattered most during the Chelski's "tapping-up" scandal. Managers must learn to protect their players. Ferguson stood by Rio Ferdinand during his drug scandal case. Wenger should borrow a leaf if he wants to keep his players in the future. |
Its all good. All i know is these footballers don't really give a hoot about the clubs they play for anymore. Del Piero decided to stay at Juventus because he has achieved almosrt everything and age is not really on his side. Why didn't Cannavaro and Zambrotta stay at Juventus? Secondly, i never said fans don't have loyalty and passion. The fans are the only ones still passionate about these clubs and not these buncha foul-mouthed hoodlums who call themselves footballers. Its the fans that buy season tickets, pay for tv subscriptions, buy club merchandises and stuffs and it is from these funds the clubs pay wages to these players. The fans have a right to demand loyalty from these players but the players don't just care. I watch MUTV and the antagonism is not as bad as what i have been seeing here. Nairaland's Gunners are just different from every Arsenal fan i know. If Mikel Obi's transfer saga had been between Arsenal and Chelsea with the lad prefering Chelsea then Nigerians wld have crucified his folks in Nigeria. Football should be fun and exciting and not a do or die affair. |
Mr Loyika, All your rants are nuthing but balderdash that drunks spew in a pub. Footballers are professionals and its high time u realise the only peopz still passionate about clubs are U & I(the fans). How many gooners complained when Sol Campbell crossed from White Hart lane to Highbury? None. Y'all guys should live with it. ![]() Players have the right to move anywhere they wish to maximise their potentials. Who cares if Rooney moves to Manchester City or Arsenal today? Red Devils won't just be bothered about stuffs like that. Arsenal should follow suit and act like real men and not cry babies. Arjen Robben turned his back on Fergie and no one cares. I am yet to see any Red Devil moan about Mikel Obi's U-turn to Chelsea. No player should be bigger than the club and clubs must move on irrespective of where any player chooses to play. What y'all guys should do is to wish him well. Stop crying over spilt milk. I overstand the fact that fans should demand some form of LOYALTY from their players but gone are those days. LOYALTY now belongs to us fans than these bunch of whores called footballers. I am callin 'em sluts because its all about the highest bidder for what they are offering(skills/stealth). Everyone wants to win something for himself because this is what will count in another 2 decades. Can u tell me what Shaun Wright Phillips is doing at Chelski? Ashley Cole can move to Enyimba FC for all i care but thats no reason enough for gooners to crucify him. What goes around comes around and Karma has just played one of his gimmicks on Arsene Wenger. It would have been more juicy if Ashley moves to Tottenham. Let Wenger taste what it feels like when he celebrated Campbell's dodgy move to Highbury. |
Sorry about that Raymand. 32 songs is not too bad. It depends on ur love for music. Some people have 15-000 songs capacity on their iPods and only has 20 songs on it. How ironic? |
@ Mr mayor, I don't seem to understand where u are coming from. Ashley Cole is a professional and hence he can move anywhere he wants. He is not even from North London. Ashley Cole is from Stepney,Tower Hamlets borough of East London so he has got no roots in North London. I dunno why Gooners think they own Ashley Cole's body and soul. I have never heard any West Ham fan calling John Terry, Frank Lampard and Joe Cole traitors for moving from an East London club to Chelsea. Why are gooners so self-centred in their arguments? What u guys should do is to wish him well in his endeavours and not cuss him out. Ashley Cole feels his potentials will be more maximised at Chelsea so let him. |
@ soccerchic, U love soccer more than sex? What r u? A celibate? |
@ rhoda, And u must be under 5,innit? Why r u taking the piss? |
I am sure u must really be under 18. ![]() |
@ Lordi, U guys have Pascal Cygan. He can pair Kolo Toure to make Arsenal's defence impenetrable. ![]() Cygan is the best centre-half in the world right now so u don't need Cannavaro. Just heard a rumour that Real Madrid is on the brink of signing Cannavaro and Emerson. Madrid is really steppin' up the game. |
Sir Lordi, Please forgive my manners. Loyika always say shiity stuffs about my team and i had to have a go at him. Meanwhile, whats happening this season? What are ur expectations in the transfer market for Arsenal? |
Lemme second that. ARSENAL = ARSE + ANAL. ARSENAL stinks more. |
@ sage, I don't think so. Fulham, Middlesboro and Blackburn defeated Chelsea. Things are changing now and u can always expect other teams to fight for it. |
@ sage, Give yourself a round of applause for your comments. ![]() Please lets leave the serie A out of this because its a league plagued with bribery scandal. In La Liga, can u close your eyes and say either Barcelona, Madrid or Valencia will not make the top 3 teams next season? If u cannot do this then the la liga is predictable. Don't let us mix issues up. English Premiership is different from English players. It is not only English players that play in the Premiership so lets draw a line between the 2 issues. If the topic had been English Players: More hype than substance then i will surrender but rubbishing the Premiership is a syntax error. The only draw-back in the Premiership is the gulf between the top 4 teams and the rest of the league is too wide. In La Liga, bottom sides can stand tall any day and beat the likes of Barca and Madrid unlike in the Premiership where Chelsea will waltz thru with ease. Premiership is the only league where a team can go unbeaten throughout a season but be that as it may, it does not make the Premiership less substantial. Talking about rivalry. I am yet to see any rivalry match in football history that is greater than the Old Trafford battle between Man Utd and Arsenal. Metropolitan Police had to warn the 2 set of fans to take it easy prior the match and it was just too exciting. The tension was too hyper and the British press added more to it by quoting what the 2 managers were saying about each other. I have never seen/heard any manager tongue-lashing another manager @ Serie A, La Liga or in Bundesliga. It is only in the Premiership that a manager will call his professional colleague a Viewer. Please, the Premiership ranks number 1 in substance and keep your fingers crossed on anutha tantalising season. More foreign players have moved to the Premiership so expect more guns to blazzzzzzzzzzzzze. ![]() Things will be different this season. Tottenham and Liverpool have stepped up the gear. Arsenal might find it very difficult to stay above these 2 teams next season. Expect upsets and many exciting matches this season and maybe the next world footballer of the year might just come from the Premiership next year. |
@ nightrider, I remember vividly saying Ruud ain't going nowhere but on the last day of the Premiership, Ruud did an abominable thang. He walked out on his team which is very appalling. Players get benched time after time but Ruud feels too big to be benched and Fergie swung his axe. This action would be fatal to Ruud's career as it was proven at the world cup where Ruud lost his 1st team shirt to Dirk Kuyt. Furthermore, the last time i checked Ruud's age he was 30 and Fergie likes working with youngsters. Don't get me wrong, Ruud Van Nistelrooy has been phenomenal. Scoring 150 goals for Man Utd in just 5 years ain't child's play. Even Teary Henry didn't hit 150 goals in his first 5 seasons at Arsenal. Luca Toni, Trezeguet or Klose cannot fit into the United team. They are just too old or too watery to cope with the pace of the Premiership. Fernando Torres is the man. He is young, versatile and has lots of pace in him. Rooney + Ronaldo + Torres is an ideal attacking line any manager will dream of. Guiseppe Rossi has matured fully and he is ready to take a shot at his professional career. |
Man U is greater than Arsenal in the past, at present, and will be greater in the future. United stands taller than Arsenal in every bit from history to fanbase to finances and achievements. Please do not compare the 2 teams. |
WO R D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
@ nuggard, Saha is crap. The most vision-less striker known in the Premiership. His finishing is so poor its not true. Saha and Adebayor are twin-brothers. Saha's ball-control sometimes makes me wanna throw up. He uses chest when he is supposed to head the ball or control with his timid legs. Louis Saha lost everything after those injury spells in his 1st season at Man Utd. He needs to be loaned off to a french speaking team like Arsenal. Patrice Evra to me is still better than Silvestre. Give the young lad some little time and he will blend. He has got pace and makes quick decision with what to do with the ball than Silvestre. Saha, O'shea, Silvestre and Miller and Darren Fletcher should be sold off to other clubs. |
@ nuggard, Ferguson should sell Silvestre. He is the most reckless player in the United team and he give balls away. Mikel is never composed and his rustiness has caused Man U more woes than any player in the team. The new United team should look this way. Van Der Saar/Tomas Kusczack Gary Neville/Wes Brown (right back) Ferdinand/Vidic (centre-half) Cannavaro/Wes brown (centre-half) Heinze/Evra (left back) Gattusso/Smith/Vieira (defensive midfielder) Scholes/Riquelme (attacking midfielder) Ronaldo/JS Park (Right midfield) Giggs/Richardson (Left midfield) Rooney/Solksjaer (Supporting Striker) Torres/Rossi (Out and Out striker) *Saha should be loaned out to Arsenal ![]() |
Italy deserves to win the world cup fair and square. They had the best defensive record all through and asides from an own goal and Zidane's dubious penalty-kick the defenders closed shops on everyone. FORZA ITALIA. |
Ashley Cole to Chelsea? Its not possible. He cannot solve Chelsea's left-back problem. Mourinho can do better with all the money in his kitty. Chelsea should bid for Taiye Taiwo or Garba Lawal. ![]() |
Arsene Wenger needs to draft in good players if Arsenal wants to mount serious challenge this season. The responsibilities carried by young Cesc Fabregas is enormous. This lad is only 19 years and so much is expected from him everytime. Wenger can still land Papa Dioup and he won't cost a thing to add some fibre to the Gunner's midfield. Adebayor is a joke upfront and he can be loaned out to Reading or Wigan Athletic. Henry needs a strike partner that will be scoring 20 goals in a season as well. Javier Saviola, Dirk Kuyt, David Trezeguet, Obafemi Martins and Roy Makaay are all possibilities Wenger can sign to beef his team up. The defence is another major worry Wenger needs to solve especially with Sol Campbell gone. Wenger should break the bank and raid the Serie A defenders like Cristian Zaccardo, Massimo Oddo or land 2 of the famous four lads of Serbia and Montenegro. Kyiv Dynamo's Goran Gavrancic and Sevilla's Ivica Dragutinovic cannot be too expensive for Arsenal to sign. I really want Arsenal to mount a serious title challenge this season because other London clubs are ready. Tottenham is rearing to go and Chelsea is out of this world with many good buys. I don't want any excuses for 'em gooners when Man U comes to Ashburton Grove. |
@ gunner, Don't let the blue boys of Nairaland see ur last comment. They will come after u like a starving vampire. ![]() Anyways, i gotcha on the different strokes 4 different folks liner. U r harsh . |
The English Premiership has both hype and substance. What are u guys talking about? This is the most exciting football league in the world. English Premiership is full of thrills, intriguing stuffs and an avalanche of skills. Talking about rivalries. Spurs vs Arsenal, Liverpool Vs Everton, Man U Vs Man City etc are always s'thing to talk about. No rivalry can compare to the Man Utd Vs Arsenal(The Battle of Old Trafford) in the football history. Wenger and Ferguson was at the brink of throwing punches at each other in spite of civilization in the country. Little wonder Ferguson's face was smashed with pizzas and burgers. El-classico matches are rivalries on the pitch that stays on the pitch unlike the Premiership where the rivalries continue off-pitch. I think the author of this thread is not a fan of the Premiership. The fact is all the european leagues have major dominant forces whether u like it or not. I can predict all the teams that will make the top 5 in all the leagues in europe by closing my eyes. Milan, Juventus and Inter in Italy. Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia in Spain. Ajax, AZ Alkmaar, PSV in Holland. Celtic, Hearts, Rangers in Scotland. So why is everyone beefing the Premiership? Everton got to the top 4 finishing above Liverpool in the 2004/05 season. Newcastle came 3rd in the 2002/03 season finishing above both Chelsea and Liverpool. Its the same thing everywhere. There will always be some dominant forces in every sphere of life. STOP BEEFING THE PREMIERSHIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
I am happy for the young lad and i expect him to silence all critics. Obi is pure class and i always marvel at his deft touches, vision and awareness. He will settle down quick now that his work permit has been granted. Mikel will surely deliver and don't be surprised if he makes starting 11 when Chelsea clashes with Liverpool for the Community Shield match in about 3 weeks time. This dude is young, calm and has a composed demeanour for his age. He is the best passer of the ball Africa has ever produced and he will light up the Premiership with his sublime skills. |
