Babes, S & M is tough as well. I don't see any team taking 3 points off them in this group. They qualified for the world cup conceeding just 1 goal in 10 matches. Have u heard of "the famous four" quartet? The Famous four is the best rear-guard in the soccer world today and they all play for S & M. Watch out for S & M,they are going to cause havoc to big teams. |
@ Prisccy, Ivory Coast is not in this group. ![]() U really have to help Huccy out of this marital problems he's suffering. Skintite just left him high n dry with 3 kids to cater for. Hucz is now a baby father that wears diapers for 'em kids. Thatz unfair, ain't it? |
@ Priscilla, How can i divorce my one n only? I have been praying hard 4 ya to get back on Nairaland cos i have missed ur feminem comments. Thank God you're back. Meanwhile, when r we walking the aisle? @Mukina2, U won't find me in the jungle ![]() Jackal can only be found in any pub in the UK watching the world cup for the next 30 days. I wish u the best of luck in your endeavours but watch out for the Jackal as the hunter might just become the hunted. |
Ballack will surely kick asses.
|
@ Mr Huccy, Who do u think will win this group of Elites? Czech Republic can be very dangerous and Italy are also known to produce good football. As a matter of fact, I have a feeling Italy will win this world cup because history might repeat itself. They had a similar kind of of scandal in their domestic league the last time they won the World Cup in 1982 Ghana can also be another dark horse who can clog up the wheels of 'em Giants. I am beginning to see the world cup winner(ITALY) in this highly under-rated group of elites. Whatchu think? |
I qualify this group as the group of aces because the top 2 spots are up for grabs. Every team has got a chance if they play the cards right. Group A consists of: Germany Costa Rica Ecuador Poland Group Fixtures Germany V Costa Rica (9th June) Poland V Ecuador (9th June) Germany V Poland (14th June) Ecuador V Costa Rica (15th June) Germany V Ecuador (20th June) Poland V Costa Rica (20th June) Players to watch in this Group: Michael Ballack(Chelsea) Miroslav Klose(Weder Bremen) Maciej Zurawski(Celtic) Grzegorz Rasiak(Tottenham 'Spurs) Paulo Wanchope(Al Gharafa) Edison Mendez(Iraputo FC) |
@ Bami, I disagree with u on Mikel Obi as much as i am a Man Utd fan. Mikel's interests lie at Stamford Bridge. He is equally aware of the competition he will get at Chelsea FC but he is daring everyone and wants to prove himself. What will happen to Mikel if he joins Man Utd and he doesn't perform to our expectations? This is about what he wants and only Mikel can know the best for himself, not U and I(the fans) The scenario can be compared to a Dad who wants his kid to study MEDICINE and the child thinks LAW is his best option despite studying sciences at his high school. If the father forces this kid to study Medicine then failure will definitely loom. Let us all join hands as Nigerians and support the morale of this wonder-kid. Messi is also a teenager and he has found space in a star-studded team like Barcelona. Why can't Mikel achieve the same feat? If Messi was a Nigerian the same reaction would have been generated that he will likely rot on the bench. It is now a norm for every big club to acquire whiz-kids as an icon. Arsenal has Theo Walcott. United has Wayne Rooney Barca has Lionel Messi Chelsea has found Mikel. |
Mikel is one player i admire. His composure, vision and awareness is incomparable. I hope Jose makes good use of his talent cos there is def'ly GOLD in this young lad. |
Lets give this young lad the support he needs as a Nigerian. I dont even care if he plays for Bolton FC or Reading. All we are saying here is it's high time this lad starts playing in the same light as Lionel Messi. |
Chelsea have agreed a fee for John Obi Mikel, bringing an end to a protracted transfer saga with Manchester United. The Premiership champions will part with £16 million for the 19-year-old, with parent club Lyn receiving £4 million and The Red Devils the other £12 million. Announcing the deal, Chelsea's fifth of the summer following Michael Ballack, Salomon Kalou, Andrei Shevchenko and Hilario, a statement called for a line to be drawn under the controversial affair - with Mikel now free to concentrate on his future at Stamford Bridge. Man Utd will also support Chelsea in any work-permit situation if necessary. Mikel is now expected to be confirmed as a Chelsea player within 24 hours. |
@ Mr Huccs. ![]() This analysis is absolutely brilliant. I am now more convinced Cash Rules. Akola wont find this funny at all. ![]() Meanwhile, i doubt if ur master league team can conquer mine o. I have the creme de la creme players from 1930's till 2006. Justin Fontane(World Cup's highest goal scorer) is the captain of my team so watch out. |
@ Akola, As much as i don't wanna oppose u on this debate,i think Hucarson is right. Mourinho is a brilliant manager but he wouldn't have won the Premiership at Bolton or even Blackburn. Its obvious Roman's financial backing helped Mourinho more than his managerial skills like Hucarson has simply proved. Theres nuthing left to say or drag here but i think Mr Hucs was harsh. I will say Roman's Millions 60%, Mourinho's managerial skills 40% |
What title did Arsenal win with the unbeaten run? Only the Premiership with 90 points What title did Chelsea win this season despite losing 5 Premiership matches? The Premiership with 91 points What title did Man Utd win in 1998/99 season despite losing 3 Premiership matches? The Premiership with 79 points, FA cup and Champions league. Please can u tell me the significance of this 49 unbeaten run or am i missin something? |
@Hucarson, ![]() U cannot really blame Mr Wenger. A Manager of his calibre had to improvise after long chains of failure. Gooners were getting sick of his management and Wenger had to look for other avenues to put Arsenal on the map hence he discovered the "unbeaten run" phenomenom. Check this out: *He consistently failed in his bids to defend the Premiership title for once. *He has never gotten past the Q-finals of the UEFA champions league as at then. *He wasn't going to ever win the treble. The famous 49 unbeaten run can be attributed to Van Nistelrooy's painful penalty miss at Old Trafford. Had Ruud scored,Arsenal wldn't have won the title that year but i am glad it was Ruud's goal that eventually stopped the long run. Its also delightful to know Man Utd was not on Arsenal's beaten list of that season. In spite of the Gooners dominance, they never won a single match in all the 3 matches both teams played in 2003/04 season. Wenger can start anutha long unbeaten run but he should be wary of Wayne Rooney in his plans because Rooney always seem to spoil Wenger's party. |
Hucz Hucz Hucz. Stop fantasizing. I will alert the Feds about u if this trophy disappears into the thin air. ![]() |
Hmmmmmmmmm Hucarson the great. Nice piece of information. The hoodlumz that stole the world cup in Brazil wld be stinkingly rich by now. Maybe that was where some Nigerians made their cool dough. 5.4kg of raw gold ain't a joke. |
@ Priscilla, Which is ur favourite team @ the world cup and pls give reasons? I repeat, tangible reasons. |
Roger Federer is the ace of Tennis. His unflinching nerves is the best thing i have ever seen on TV. He wld have been an expert if he was a political assassin. |
@ Dr Hucs, Nice analyxix but ma favourites are Italy and Argentina. Italy should be the most jinxed country in the world of soccer. They have been eliminated in the last 4 world cup tournaments to annoying penalty shoot-outs. If the Azzuris can find their form with Del Piero and Luca Toni working things out then the Italians have a chance. I also want Argentina to win cos it will be a disaster if the likes of Crespo,Ayala and Aimar dont make an impact this year. One player to watch is the mercurial Lionel Messi. I am glad he's been included in the star-studded team and i hope he delivers. I will be very glad if these 2 teams can win it cos i just have a grudge against Brazil. They shouldn't be winning it everytime. |
@ Spikelord, U have a knack/bad habit of posting the same comments twice and its annoying. Can't u modify ur comments having realised u'd goofed? Bloody Hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! @Nightrider, Henry stayed back cos he must have realised Arsenal will suffer if he leaves. Arsenal is building a team and they still need Henry's leadership to guide the team for at least anutha season before the team can gel effectively. Henry knows the team has a small squad size and leaving em now wld have plunged Arsenal into relegation next season. |
I am going to rest ma case here. Some fans here are just too patriotic than factual. How can Okocha be more skillful than Ronaldinho? Okocha wan steal am? Y'all guys need to broaden your scopes in football. U need to visit a sport's video library and watch more on Ronaldinho. Okocha is not even up to a quarter of Ronaldinho. Lets forget the fact that Dinho learnt from Okocha. Ronaldinho has added some more deft and sublime touches to his skills plus he's got a better goal sense than Okocha. @Babwilms, The moves u described in your comment can be done by anyone. Cristiano Ronaldo does that everytime and its nuthing compared to what Wizard Dinho can do. If u don't believe me, go n see Eric Cantona's video clips of "joga bonito". U will marvel at what Dinho has turned football into. |
![]() What can i say? Hucarson is a great fan of the game and his comments on Nairaland have been top-draw. He can be sometimes passionate but that can be attributed to his love for soccer. I am not surprised peopz have labelled Hucs and I the enfant terrible of Nairaland. They hate us but we don't care. Priscilla is the feminem of Nairaland sports. An ardent Arsenal fan which makes her ma favourite enemy. She has been ma foe ever since the day i joined Nairaland and we battle constantly over various topics but i find her very intelligent. A very good peace-maker when things turn ugly. 4play is the funniest Nairalander i know. He can be very catchy with his comments and its so unfortunate lotta Nairalanders don't understand this dude. He is a passionate, brilliant chap and will not stand any mis-guided facts concerning other rival teams. 4play has added comical effects to the sports forum and he never ceases to make me laugh my a$$ off. He's got that: i-don't-give-a-Bleep attitude in him and thatz why he 'vantage over all his haters. I admire u,son. Grizzly is very efficient in his own way. He is a thorn in the flesh for some non-objective Arsenal fans that makes up the sports forum. He doesn't leave any stones unturned and will go any length to stand for his darling club. I admire this guy because his contributions have been immense. |
Dinho V Okocha? Why now? Its like comparing Thierry Henry to Femi Opabunmi. They dont belong to the same class. Ronaldinho might have learnt from Okocha but he has re-discovered himself and has added some deft touches and "off-the-chain" moves to his game play. Dinho is a god. |
@ Skintite, Stop crying. It's not the end of the world. Arsenal played exceptionally well until the last 15 minutes when Barca descended on the gooners defence. Henry was the major downfall and he should have at least buried one of his few chances he had. Theirry has now confirmed my suspicions that he is not a big-match player. |
Now u r talking. I have always known u can be objective. The gunners played beyond ma expectation to be honest and they could have won the match. I guess here is where my taunts shall end. |
@ Twinstaiye, Unless u'd watched a different match,Etoo was clearly on-side when Dinho supplied the killer pass. Ashley Cole kept Etoo on and the goal should have stood. Had Collina been the Referee,he would have allowed the goal to stand and would have still given Lehmann a red-card so count yourself lucky. |
I love your stats but the question still remains, WILL ARSENAL EVER WIN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE? Liverpool has done it. United has done it and Chelsea will be near it next season Talking about the league. The league table does not lie. Arsenal finished disappointingly with 16 points below Man Utd and a whooping 24 points below Chelsea. I wonder how this is remarkable to u as a football fan. The problem about y'all gunners is your mouthz. U will never win anything with your pride and boastings. U want to win the UCL? Borrow a leaf from Man Utd and the Scousers. U always chew more than u can swallow. |
@ Nightrider, Did u say 3 seasons? Why do u always exaggerate? 3 seasons ago is 2003. In May 2003, Man Utd won the Premiership. In May 2004, Man Utd won the FA cup. In May 2005, Man Utd was robbed of another FA cup by the Gooners. In Jan. 2006, Man Utd won the carling cup. So where did u get your stats? Arsenal's season was shambolic. Please accept this fact. Coming 4th and finishing 16 points below Man Utd is a disgrace if u have not been told. On the contrary,I will rather win any cup than losing out in the finals of UEFA. No one will remember Arsenal came 2nd in the UEFA. Everyone will talk about Barcelona inflicting serious damage to u and Priscilla in generations to come. Wenger should now get the sack. |
U r in the losers camp for now. No one is interested in ur cheap talks. Arsenal lost yesterday and completed a fruitless season. Nothing to show for a whole season is as frustrating as hell. Damn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, thats something to worry about. What will become of Arsenal now: If Henry leaves for Barca? If Pires leaves for Villareal If Wenger leaves for Madrid? |
@ Medube, The whole Nairaland wld have been painted red if they had won last night. Do u know how many gunners on Nairaland? They make at least 98% of Nairaland. Men,Women,Grannies and children on Nairaland are all gunners. Some of 'em are reasonable and most of em think Arsenal is the best team in the world. The season was shambolic for Wenger. 4th in the league. No FA cup No Carling cup No UEFA. What a season? |
@ Medube, Did u just say Arsenal's season had been fruitless? Do u mean Arsenal didn't win a single trophy this season? FA cup?,UEFA champions league?, Carling Cup?, The Premiership title? Thats harsh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The team has lost it. The team should be disbanded. Arsenal is a disgrace to England. |
@ skintite, Excuse me miss. Did u say u could have done better? Please. it could have been worse. Your team lacked the guile they needed to push 'emselves beyond the finish line. Henry(your IGWE) is now a slave. He always let his team down at the big stage. He killed Arsenal's dreams last night and he should be shot. Didier Drogba would have done better and i hope u guys realise the season is now over for the gunners. A fruitless season for y'all gunners. Better luck next time. @ Priscilla, I am gutted because Arsenal went down as the 1st English team to taste defeat in the UCL final. Arsenal always disgrace England in kizzacks like this grand finale. United won it against all odds in 1999 by scoring 2 goals in the 92nd and 93rd minute against a disciplined Bayern Munich side. Man Utd showed lots of character and it paid off in the end. Liverpool also made the greatest comeback in the history of football to snatch victory in the jaws of defeat against Milan last season. Gerrard,Alonso and co. showed lotta determination and spirit to drag the match to penalty shoot-out and they won. Why was Arsenal so shambolic? Lehmann should take the blame for bringing Etoo down. He was the major cause of Arsenal's defeat. A player of his calibre should have known better. Arsene Wenger also displayed his weakness by removing a brilliant Fabregas for Flamini. What was he thinking? In a nutshell, i just feel Arsenal aint matured enough to win the UCL this season. A lot of things went against them due to inexperience. Henry of all people even goofed at the last moment. |
