Sammiegreg: I was finally diagnosed of glaucoma this year and thank God it was detected early. I am on eye drops now. So he should go to Lasuth so that the other eye can be preserved. One thing thing about glaucoma is that there is no cure except miracle and the remaining eye sight needs to be preserved. Glaucoma usually follows some chronic diseases like diabetes mellitus, hypertension and sickle cell. Hope the ophthalmologists checked you out for them |
Education › Re: Glaucoma: Any Recommendations? by jaephoenix(m): 8:10pm On Jan 26, 2023 |
Glaucoma causes gradual loss of sight. And for him to lose his sight, it has been giving him signs like loss of peripheral vision. This loss of peripheral vision means you won't be objects in the corner of your sight but central vision is preserved, meaning he can see directly if he looks straight. Gradually this peripheral keeps getting worse til the central vision is lost. And that's lights out. And this takes months or years. For him to be ignoring this is plain stupidity. They would keep on praying and fasting til their sight goes. And Nigerians don’t take their health serious. They tell you they have supernatural health and do no regular checks. Unfortunately when that optic disc is destroyed by the intraocular eye pressure we can't do much. There are experimental procedures we can attempt but its too expensive ad not 100% guaranteed. There are philantropic opthalmologists or agencies offering free eye surgeries. You can drop his location so I can check when next they show around his region. |

Ken4Christ: Proverbs 13:11 (New Living Translation) Wealth from get-rich-quick schemes quickly disappears; wealth from hard work grows over time.
Proverbs 28:22 (New Living Translation) Greedy people try to get rich quick but don’t realize they’re headed for poverty.
These are words from the richest King of his days. That translation was obviously a corruption and recently created by myopic people like you. The original verse of Proverbs 13:11 New International Version says Dishonest money dwindles away, but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow
And Proverbs 13:11 New King James Version Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished, But he who gathers by labor will increaseProverbs 28:22 New International Version The stingy are eager to get rich and are unaware that poverty awaits them

acewines: This is not about overcrowding or something
Had an accident and I was bleeding from my right ear, I went to GH gbagada and I given a card with 2months appointment date, as it wasn't that serious like b4 I waited for the time to come, I went back there and I was given another 1month and I asked, she said the ENT isn't available for now, 1 month came, she gave the 3rd date, tho 2weeks. I left the 2 weeks came I went to the place I was asked to stay, some minutes later she came in and said they have reached the number of people (18) that the specialist could see for the day out of annoyance,I told her how I've been posted severally, she gave a nonchalant comment, I threw the card over the canter to where she sat and stormed out, I left the hospital,5mins later my phone rang and I answered, only for the person to tell me to come back that she has written my name there.. I didn't answer her but to apologize for my actions earlier and I haven't gone to any hospital to check on my ear.. still hearing a little bit of noise inside it
When I'm chanced will visit the military hospital for yaba Its the same thing we're saying, overcrowding. If the capacities were enlarged and more doctors employed,do you think there would be crowds and postponements(like you had)? In advanced countries, you'll easily see doctors, but you pay through your nose. I think why they called you back was that the ENT specialist heard about your postponements and decided to take your case out of pity. These specialists usually do rounds after the clinic, so they have to leave that clinic early |

LagBlogger: It is not funny because some doctors are incompetent and yes pharmacists know drugs better than doctors.
All drugs have side effects but their side effects varies. Some are mild while others are strong.
Avoid drugs with strong side effects because the doctor will not be able to save you nor will he accept blame when the worst happens.
Don't give people medical advise you are not qualified to give because it is life we are talking about here not merely an ailment. The same way we have incompetent docs is the same way we have incompetent pharmacies. Like in this OP's case, the pharmacist is incompetent because s/he said dexamethasone is banned when it was actually the brand Xasten that was banned/substandard. YES we know the side effects of drugs before prescriptions and we anticipate them,in fact,we use the side effect as therapeutic use. If I have a hypertensive with poor sleep, that has catarrh, I would prefer chlorpheniramine to loratidine as an anticatarrh because of it is has a more sedative effect |

It became almost useless. Now even the artemether lumefantrine combination is not effective because you guys have still abused the hell out of it. Patients just meet me 'Doctor i want to treat malaria, I have treated it for 2 years' or they say 'Doctor, mosquitoes bit me yesterday, I want to treat malaria'.Even after advising them not to take antimalarials, they still ignore me and take it. DearGorgeous: Op listen to the Pharmacist. I've had similar personal experience in the past. The doctor recommended a drug for me to buy at the hospital's pharmacy (a Federal Government Hospital for that matter).
May God bless that pharmacist. She advised me not to buy the recommended drug. I asked why? She told me it causes kidney failure and liver problems. She said it'll surely cure what I was taking it for, but a bigger problem will arise later. She advised that I google the side effects of the drug when I get home. Seeing her deep care and sincerity, I opted for the alternative drug she introduced to me right at the counter. And I was perfectly ok after taking them.
And through to her words, the side effects were very scary. It's an antibiotic. You can't take it before or after meal. You take it while eating. If you disobey, you face the repercussion immediately. I named it Satanic Drug! Lol. This is seriously funny. A pharmacist told you not to take a drug because it causes kidney failure, and you disobeyed your doctor? Please you should have asked that pharmacist which drugs doesn't have organ failure as a side effect? The truth is all drugs are poison. And that includes the pills, herbs, agbo etc. Anything that alters the body physiology is a drug. The paracetamol y'all abuse causes liver failure. The ibuprofen/ibucap/diclofenac causes kidney failure. Does it mean if you take it according to doc prescription you'll have organ failure? No! First thing, the doc won't prescribe it if you already have an organ failure, and if he does, it is for short period and he has weighed the pros outweighs the cons. |

My guy was stooling blood,na so general hospital for gbagada tell am to come back in 2 months time that that's when the specialist will be around.. now judge the matter Hospitals cover drug names because Nigerians abuse drugs seriously, as in crazy abuse. So they are right, though patient has the right to know the name of the drug s/he is taking. General and Teaching Hospitals are overbooked. If you have an urgent case, no need going there, just go to a private hospital. In this case your bro was stooling blood, he should have been admitted depending on the severity, but even at that, they are overcrowded. Even today, I sent an emergency case to GH Gbagada, and they bounced them. Same as LUTH and LASUTH. No space |

oka4ugoo: Doctors from government hospital . Just visit that doctor's private clinic tomorrow and you will be surprised that he will recommend for ur daddy a better different drugs.
You better go back to that pharmacist and ask him or her to give you a better alternative drug because as far as am concern the one you bought na original fake drug.
Aside from surgical operations, I believe pharmacists more than I believe doctors when it comes to drugs that's why with just ur lab result you can visit professional pharmacists (not chemists oo) for drug This right here is a typical Nigerian, very ignorant but proud in his ignorance. You want a pharmacist to prescribe a med for a diagnosis s/he didn't make. Really? The pharmacist that doesn't know the disease disease pathology and complications? In one fell swoop, you casted all the government doctors into the trash can, but you're forgetting private practice doctors refer patients to government hospitals which include tertiary health institutions like Teaching and Specialist Hospitals. These hospitals are where you have the best professors in the medical field. But somehow, you prefer a pharmacist's prescription to theirs. Or if you have tetanus infection, multiple myeloma etc, you'll rush to a pharmacist? And no, you aren't better off with visiting a pharmacist with lab tests because lab tests does not give the complete picture of a disease. You need a doctor to examine and take history. Some lab tests are plain useless, example is Widal test. Now this test has been abandoned a long time ago but roadside labs still swindle ignorant folks like you to do it, and they tell you your titer is high and prescribe drugs for you that you have typhoid fever. Lol Til now, I still get patients sending me test results like Widal and Malaria parasite test, asking me to prescribe drugs for them. I ignore most of them. Some I take history from them. About the OP's case, here's what I know. Dexamethazone is very much a safe drug. We use it in a range of disease like allergies, shock, premature labor etc. What is the issue here is the brand of dexamethazone here which is Xasten. NAFDAC found out Xasten, Destrax, Dexacure etc contain substandard amount of the dexamethazone. Meaning the dexamethazone is not up to 0.5mg in each tab. So, the doctor is right by telling you to get dexamethazone. He doesn't know the actual brand youre buying. The pharmacist is wrong(or maybe you misunderstood him/her) in saying dexamethazone is banned or fake. She should have told the doctor the particular brand is substandard and not tell him dexamethazone is not safe. |
