Career › Re: Why Do People Quit Their Jobs At Dream/big Companies? by Jarus(m): 7:10am On Mar 25, 2017 |
In Nigeria, people hardly voluntarily quit dream/big companies, except to another dream company.
Dream companies in Nigeria include IOCs Shell, Chevron, Total, NLNG, Exxon, Agip, Addax and NNPC (even though NNPC isn't that cool for non-management staff, but highly perceived to b cool by people outside)
You see people work 20-30 years in these companies.
However, some people Are now quitting to set up their own business or join smaller companies that need their expertise eg IOC staff join independent oil companies. . |

Cityfirstborn: what do you mean by underachieved..jay jay in his playing days in bundesliga was one of the finnest.. scoring goals for fun particularly the best goal in the history of german football whr he dribbled 5 players including the great oliver kahn who till today feels embarassed cos of the goal..in psg he was adored n taught great players like ronaldinho..Underachieved? someone with over 100appearances for super eagles, appearing in 3world cup..won bbc african footballer twice, played in several nations cup tournament. just because he didnt win any major trophy with his clubside doesnt mean he underachieved. This is still underachievement for someone of JJ's talent. |

abdeiz: My fellow nairalanders, I'm a Muslim corper from one of the states in the north central serving in a state in the east.
I'm have a conundrum right now, I was lucky to have the opportunity to change my ppa to a new one because of reasons. I have finally gotten a new ppa but the problem is the accommodation provided for me has a dead person buried in it and I do not feel comfortable at all with that(obviously).
The new ppa have claimed that there isn't any other accommodation left which I highly doubt, problem is they furnished the room and provided other miscellaneous just for me to make my stay very comfortable and I'd feel bad if I turn them down.
I decided to wait till when the next set of Corpers are passing out leaving vacancies abound but my cash situation is tight and I can't wait further.
Note: I could accept them and enjoy the place until I get a another new ppa which I'd have peace of mind but I have conscience and I can't do such.
OR
I should reject the new ppa and manage my current ppa with its damning conditions, exercise patience and suffer for a while till I get a better place? I no fit. I wont think twice before rejecting. |

SirMichael1: See What I Saw In A Primary 4 Textbook
Quantitative reasoning for primary school should not be an IQ test question for an undergraduate.
A primary 4 lantern quantitative reasoning question was brought to me and being that I was an undergraduate, I was like... 'Izit noh just a primary 4 work? Bring it jare and lemme dissect it'. Little did I know it was tough! Oboi! Was it tough. Hell yeah! So tough to the extent that myself and two other undergraduates weren't able to solve it.
It shattered my pride (or what was left it) so much so that I had to lie to those who gave me, telling them that I've not looked so much into it. So my nairaland brothers and sisters, nephews and nieces, teachers and students. Should this type of question be given to a primary 4 student? If you can solve it, please do.
Quantitative reasoning for primary school should not be an IQ test question for an undergraduate, don't you think? Bro, I did this in primary 4. School pass school o |

Obaluf0n: Deji, Soun, Ataoja, Timi are all in Baale/Olubadan Ibadan's league.
Soun & Timi thrones are not traditional but founded as a result of Oyo's military kini (ran out of vocabs right now, pardon me).
Deji's throne was founded by Owa Atakumosa of Ilesa and for a while Deji throne was under the influence of Ilesa and I think Ijesa territories expanded towards that front.
Ataoja's throne is a recent throne whose relevance is solely derived from Osogbo being a state capital. In Yoruba history, Osogbo & Ataoja played a latent position in the scheme of things.
Is Alaafin in your list of first class due to Oyo's military power? I stand corrected. |

What did you premise your conclusion on? Ooni AlAAfin AwujAle AlAke OwA Obokun Deji Soun AtAojA Ewi Timi At least 5 of these re traditionally higher than Olubdan. Don't forget Ibdan Had what was equivalent of Baale until the 1920s or so. |

hopsydboi: Please I need an advice here ASAP please.
I am a fresh graduate of business administration and management from adekunle Ajasin university. I was a able to make a good 2:1. So in my process of seeking for a graduate intern, awaiting nysc by Nov. I got to apply for an IT fellowship, which I got selected. On getting to the appointment contract, I was asked to postpone my nysc to next year nov , since the fellowship will only end next June. I have a strong interest in IT and business as I am seeking to build a career in business analytics. My challenge is the fellowship won't pay anything for the first 3 month of training and really am not sure if accepting to postpone the nysc is so the right decision.
CV jarus do help sir. go and do your youth service. That job doesn't look secure enough to suspend your nysc for? |

Whatever you do, never switch off your engine while driving.
Some people - especially commercial drivers, or local men in the countryside - do this to conserve fuel.
It's an invitation to the grave as the steering may become stiff. |
