PassingShot: Most women behave as if they are solely responsible for the success of their husband. Aisha Buhari would have been worse than Patience Jonathan and Mrs. Yar'Adua if not for the type of person Buhari is.
Fatima Daura also misbehaved by releasing the secretly filmed video of Aisha but we wouldn't know how much torment they had endured in Aisha's hands.
If you pray to have a good uncle, pray for someone like Mamman Daura. And if you ever pray for a grateful nephew, Buhari should be the model. Not a matter of "also misbehaved", she was the only one that misbehaved, it is extremely rude of Fatima to video the wife of her uncle's wife without her permission under any circumstance. Aisha did nothing wrong. |

tyakson99: Please at Oga jarus and others who have experience in the O & G ind. How easy would it be especially in Nigeria to enter the oil industry after obtaining a PhD? I have passion for research but don't just want to limit myself to the academics, I would love to have some industry experience before maybe ending up in the academia. My research would be related to a technical aspect of upstream operations. I know abroad, one can join R & D division with PhD, but I don't know how things are in Nigeria if one holds a PhD. Thanks in advance PhD is common in the oil and gas industry. Almost every oil company I know has at least one PhD holder in its workforce. We used to have 2 in my company despite being a relatively small player in the industry. Most of them got it on-the-job though (ie after employment). But I have a childhood friend (same pry, sec and uni) that got his PhD before entering the sector as entry level 7 years ago. He didn't have any break in his education and got his PhD at 29. He got job in Shell US few days after his PhD. https://www.linkedin.com/in/oluwafemitaiwo PhD also makes you competitive in the international oil and gas job market. There was a time I was chasing OPEC jobs (Petroleum Industry Analyst and later Economic Analyst) and I went to LinkedIn to check the profiles of people holding similar jobs in OPEC, almost everyone has PhD, some with 3-4 masters - young folks in their 30s o. Fear catch me, I knew I had no chance! Needless to say, I was not shortlisted despite having 10 years experience and publishing several articles on the industry. If you love academics, you can choose my friend's path - continue your studies till PhD (preferably abroad) and apply to oil companies there or in Nigeria from abroad. Alternatively, you can get the job with whatever degree you have now and continue to PhD while working (like many people do). All the best. |

Fremanb4: On the contrary, some companies do ask for your resignation letter which is stamped by your previous HR. I think it is to guard against employing people who are merely on leave. Mine requested for it during documentation. Although,I feel it's not necessary to request for it Oh, I see. Thanks. Never seen such or heard from my network of friends. Very highly unlikely an oil company does that. |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Apply For 2019 NNPC Graduate Trainee And Experience Hire by Jarus(m): 2:29pm On Oct 14, 2019 |
iammiracle1: Okay sir, I just wanted to know how they normally find out about your previous work place. Any idea the general practice sir? No reasonable employer asks for your letter of resignation from your previous employer. What is done is to ask for reference on you from your previous employer (HR or the person you used as your reference in the company eg your former boss) at the point of confirmation. This can be like 6 months into the job. And this applies only to EH. Some companies stretch it further to do a secret background check on you (whether you have lied on your previous work experience) but I doubt NNPC does that for work experience (but I know they do for certificates). For GT, your previous employment does not matter so nobody will ask for resignation letter. Even previous employment reference may not matter because it is an entry level job. At GT level, you are in same bucket with someone that has NNPC as first job, so it does not make sense to bother about your previous experience. |

Bathnover: That's incorrect. Few Nigerians watch CNN, BBC and other foreign news channels. Those that watch local news channels are much bigger joor. But key business leaders and decision makers watch CNN. They influence millions with their decisions. Go to any hotel in Nigeria (3-star and above) and corporate offices and see the channel on show. |

ifylanks: Fellow APL hopefuls, having tried so hard to focus on my current job while waiting like d rest of us, I had to place a call to a relative (who by the way is about to made a GM or something like that)..After the usual pleasantries of a nephew calling an uncle, he was genuinely surprised that I was involved in d current recruitment.he asked why I have never mentioned it(cos we have met a few times after my interview) I laughed over it.. (main reason for not telling him is cos this uncle of mine is a stickler for merit and due process as in old school imperial college graduate) Anyways, from the conversation, I observed he knew more than he divulged(wasnt surprised cos that is him) but bottom line,i got 4 points crystal clear.. 1. The recruitment process even though it ran into bottlenecks vis a vis interference from some powers wasn't CANCELLED..infact let me quote him, "the amount of time and money that was invested in the process defeated all arguments from certain quarters for it's cancellation"
2. Yes,there were interferences at d end of the day but to his knowledge, it was very minimal.less than 5percent of total names.in his words, this is d most transparent recruitment process he has seen in his 27years in the system
3. GT list is actually ready but EH isn't entirely ready..According to him, they are still matching them to d different subsidiaries..i asked him how can that be cos I believed every EH from his resume and experience already applied to d positions best suited as advertised which should make placement easy. (eg, my work experience can only fit into NPDC) and his reply..that some subsidiaries may need 3 accountants whereas some may need 10 and most importantly, that some "interferences" also came with a subsidiary of choice.. (meaning some powers came with candidates and also demanded the subsidiary they should b posted to) hence some minor reshuffling
4..Lastly, that APL will come soon.i asked him how soon.. He said he couldn't place a date but it won't pass this last quarter 2019..i probed more and he gave a solid reason for his timeframe. The proforma invoices for the external (non Nnpc) SMEs (subject matter experts) that will be part of the GT training in edjeba has already been approved and the persons have already been notified as to their time schedules which includes this year. I argued dat the budget approved for the proforma invoices could be moved to budget accruals so that the system doesn't retrieve it/and it doesn't affect d next year's budget.. When I said this, he laughed and is like everyone involved in d budget for this recruitment is fighting tooth and nail for it to be concluded this year such that certain inflated figures won't be discovered.. He wished me luck and yabbed me to at least remember to call him if I was shortlisted..
Guys let's be hopeful and keep praying for God's grace last last.. This sounds credible/believable. |

grok: Pls anyone... If this rumors are right and APL comes out within the next few weeks. And if I'm successful and get paid the 4m to 5m upfront after induction. What if I get a better job after like for example Shell or Total or Mobil. Would nnpc force me to return the money before i resume @ Shell. It might sound like a stupid question but I want anyone knowledgeable to explain the whole dynamics to me. Thanks @anyone @Jarus @xfire I don't know how it works in NNPC, but I once worked in an oil company that paid upfront. Upfront by definition means advance, for example, you're being given one year pay (say Housing) in advance, so if you resign at any time before 12 month after collection of that upfront, what you had collected will be pro-rated and you will refund balance. For example, if you collect an upfront of N4m in January, and you resign in July (5 months still left for the year), you will be made to refund 5/12*4m=1.67m). When I left that company, I actually had 1 month left from my upfront cycle and it (1/12*the upfront I collected) was deducted from my final entitlement. Common sense suggests this will apply in NNPC, but I'm not sure - in government corporations, things can be different. Generally, people hardly quit NNPC, so they will not get much of these cases. Xfire that left may be able to shed light (if he actually waited to collect upfront before he got another job). |

This should not be an issue. They should reasonably expect people to change house address with bank not yet updating it. naijatruth2019: The issue here is following dates because things can change, but what I can tell you is that it will be out not long. Any specific date will almost always be wrong. Even in small corporate organizations, hard to put exact date to such event at least a week in advance. |
