Genbuhari3:Are guys agreeing that we should use this, removing the background song, shrinking it to one minute, and just add 'This message is sponsored xxxxxx Group, Nairaland.com? |
Let me do Budget, based on 1 minute. I will suggest we do 4 slots per day, 2 during premium period, another 2 during regular period 1 minute = 4 X 15 seconds Regular per slot = 4 X 2,352 = 9,408 Premium per slot = 4 X 2,928 = 11,712 Per day = (2 X 9,408) + (2 X 11,712) = 42,240 Three days (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)= N126,720 Guys, if we are okay with this, start dropping into my a/c stated up there. Next decision is what jingle are we using. As regards payment method, 9ijaman, did you discuss that with the lady? Do we have to go there premises or how do we pay? Pls time is not on our side, let's get this thing on air latest Tuesday next week. Let's put something like 'Sponsored by XXXXXXXX' Let's give ourselves one name as sponsor like 'Buhari/Bakare Vanguard, Nairaland.com' or 'Integrity Group, Nairaland.com' or 'Nairaland Progressives Coalition' or 'Talk-walkers - a coalition for the rescue of Nigeria, Nairaland.com' |

Now, this is hilarious ![]() http://www.nigeriavillagesquare.com/articles/terver-atsar/help-my-wife-wants-to-vote-for-jonathan.html By Terver Atsar Yesterday I escaped a minor domestic quarrel when my wife insisted I must tune the television away from my favourite NHK Channel to enable her watch the Presidential debate. I told her there was not going to be any debate since the other participants declined, but she insisted, so I let her have her way since I could always watch a repeat of my Nihongo quick lessons on NHK later. Fortunately for me she was terribly disappointed when it turned out to be a 'monobate'(if there is a word like that), that gave me the opportunity to tell her, 'se bi I told you'. Goodluck may have unwittingly made history, though an unenviable one, as the first person to ‘debate’ against nobody (or perhaps against himself). However in a country full of absurdities and contradictions, several contradictions and absurdities pass for normal. Seriously I find it really embarrassing that the President of my country would delude himself that he was indeed in a 'debate' alone! Even the moderator, AIT’s Imoni Amarere, sounded rather clownish in his unsuccessful attempts to sound like someone moderating a real debate. His repeated reference to 'candidate Goodluck Jonathan' sounded more comical than Wale Adenuga's 'Papa Ajasco' show. It was difficult imagining what was going on in the President’s mind as he stood there alone. But I thought of it as what, (I think it is) Solana Olumhense, expressed as ‘ a lonely ride on the highway by midnight’ in one of his books (No Second Chance). I pitied the audience who had to sit through the charade in simulated silence and feign concentration on the boring prevarication and robotic gestures of an unsure leader. And to hear that GJ had the questions sent to him before the ‘debate’ really triggers a shiver in my spine. If he could put up this slapdash performance after a rehearsal, what would he do if those questions took him unawares? If Jonathan could not score even when the whole field was abandoned for him and there was no skipper in the goal post, what kind of 'football star' is he? Jonathan could not outline specific, measurable, verifiable and Time-based strategies to tackle unemployment, improve educational standards, security or power supply. Jonathan did not seem to realise that what the audience needed to hear goes beyond usual political rhetoric. The key question one needed him to answer is the ‘how ‘of what he intended to do. What is GJ going to do differently? Unfortunately he drew blank on this. His submissions were dry on figures and statistics. For instance despite his profuse denial of the assertion by one questioner that our universities are more like glorified secondary schools, he failed to counteract that position by stating the true state of infrastructure on ground in the Federal Universities in terms of, for example, 'student to bedspace' ratio or the lecture hall sitting capacities, or the student-teacher ratio compared to acceptable international standards. What is the research capability of our Science Faculties? What grants are in place (i mean appropriated under his tenure) or does he plan to introduce to boost postgraduate research? When Jonathan spoke about creating one million jobs in the downstream sector of the oil and Gas industry, he exposed a shallow understanding of the potentials that exist in Nigeria outside the oil and Gas industry, for instance the solid minerals sector. Nigeria has abundant deposits of Bitumen, Gold, gypsum, coal, etc scattered abundantly across the country. It is sad that diversification of the economy is clearly not on his agenda.Jonathan did not talk about the huge potential in the railway transport sector, neither did he consider the role of small and medium-scale enterprises in overall job creation and the gross national productivity of the country. If he did, he did not paint a vivid picture of the policy regime envisaged to empower these sectors of the economy Does Jonathan know the number of Nigerians who are currently unemployed, or underemployed? Did GJ think through the effect of concentrating a million new jobs in the oil and gas industry alone? What will happen to food production or textiles for example, which are also needed in the economy? It is not just about creating jobs, in a lopsided fashion; there has to be a balance in the economy for a harmonious existence, because according to elementary economics, man has several needs that can be met from several resources that have alternative uses. For Nigeria to grow from a consumer economy to a producer nation, we need to look beyond crude oil and its derivatives. But Jonathan's attachment to oil and Gas industry is not isolated to him as a person, it is indicative of our Nigerian culture of always looking for the easy way out. We need a leader who is futuristic in planning, audacious in hope and scrupulous with resources to take us to the future we all desire. Jonathan is clearly not the one. Even if I had been a supporter of GJ in the past, this ‘debate’ surely would have caused me to reconsider my stand. However it has further reinforced my conviction that Goodluck has nothing to offer Nigeria. I had watched the other debate where Shekarau, Dele Mamodu and Ribadu featured. The leadership drive and a clear insight on topical issues could easily be spotted in Shekarau. He is the other alternative to Buhari. Ribadu was way too juvenile, unduly conceited, unreal, and shallow in his submissions. Momodu was just slightly better than a good comedian. Interestingly with all my opposition, my wife, despite accepting that GJ is clueless and too uninspiring, insists she would still vote for him. This in itself is not altogether unacceptable because it is her democratic right to vote for her choice. What I find totally unacceptable and strange is her reason. She says she does not want to pull out meat from the man’s mouth! Imagine! What can I do? |
Seun is very free to hold his political views and to declare it in public. |
Yes, by that home page topic. ![]() |
I may also be reached on 08061198625(preferably sms) so that we can have further discussion. Also let's get the jingle ready before Monday. Also I suggest we use a station in Lagos(wazobia), another in any other SW state and another in the east. Let somebody inquire and present their rates here pls, we don't have time on our side. It must be on air Tuesday. |
Drop your contribution into: 351/334295/1590 Oyewale S.Oyetunji GTB Between today and Monday. Let's conclude the jingle with: This message is from Buhari/Bakare Nairalanders, a voluntary group of Nigerians rooting for Buhari on Nairaland.com, Nigeria's largest online discussion forum. Pls whoever will speak with Wazobia should do so asap and report here before Monday. We have just 3 days-Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday next week. |
At least I'm happy that the forum owner has openly declared he prefers GEJ. Now those saying NL is pro-Buhari can let us rest. Not all forum officials are pro-Buhari like me and Aisha2. And the forum, as far as I know, is not officially pro-anybody. At least the presidential polls say Buhari has more fans here, and it naturally follows that they will be most dominant. That's why I ignore people that accuse us of using NL in favour of anybody. |
Good one there recomme, that was very journalistic, more impressive was the way you displayed more than passing knowledge of peculiarities and candidate in virtually every Senatorial district across the country. But I think CPC will make a better showing in NW than you analysed winning at least one Senatorial seat in each of NW states |
Only the Admin(forum owner) has final say on who becomes Mod, although Supermod too can be very influential in the decision. But given your records on the forum, especially in politics, your being considered mod looks impossible, except of course you turn a new, rule-abiding leaf. And for the records, Mods are not paid. |
I'm sorry I don't have answer to your question because I don't have power over which topic makes front page. |
9ijaman, though not Naija based, is more involved than me. He has spent amount running into 6 digits and if we add what he has caused his friends to contribute, we will be talking of 7 digit contribution from 9ijaman and his friends. I have had a number of phone discussions with him and I see his passion. I must admit, due to official and personal activities, I've not been so active in one-on-one BB campaign in the last few days, but I can take up the challenge of having my a/c used for pooling donations for our last minute campaign. Can we have another person to make enquiries on cost of wazobia or other radio adverts? |
The rate at which this man is campaigning, I am wondering whether it's not a waste of money. You will not even know he is the favourite. He is far outdoing PDP which need it more. All radio stations, every newspaper space, rallies everywhere, am I the only one that thinks Fashola is overdoing this campaign thing. This election is a walk-over for him, and I see his excessive campaign as waste of money. |
Are candidates' pictures going to be on ballot paper. If yes, that's enough. If not, then our northern masses need enlightenment as this. |
Danjohn's analysis is spot on. But notwithstanding, at the end of NA elections I expect CPC producing at least 10 Senators and 20 reps, likely from Sokoto, Katsina, Kano, Kebbi and Zamfara. Through defections, the party currently has 1 Senators and 3 reps. |
I have always disliked JI for his money-miss-road, 'bushy' statements and actions. I even wrote an article sometime ago on him titled, ' A laulau billionaire'. If he actually did this, he has further proved me right. He is a bush man. |
mbulela:For the first in my at least 2 years of knowing you in Nairaland I am seeing you partisan. And more surprisingly, being passioante a Nigerian political personality/event. The Mbulela I have studied over time is not only one that hardly sees anything positive about a Nigerian public figure(except Atedo Peterside - his hero in Economy, and none in politics ), but has also never hidden his dislike for glorification of a public figure. We agree on most issues but his only problem with me is that I 'praise-sing' personalities(like Sanusi). Even if we both agree that this person is good, he will not hesitate to tell me I'm going beyond boundary when I 'overdo' the praising of that personFor Mbulela - the most hard-to-impress, skeptical nairalander in my books - to openly endorse Buhari, it says a lot about Buhari, to me. |
This is very honourable of Pat. I wish to see him in BB government. |
I honestly think it is not in the best interest of the progressives to wash dirty linens in public. I can bring out Ribadu's fault in public, so can I do for Buhari, but I will not hit Ribadu in the public because of Buhari. Whether we like it or not, we need them to dislodge PDP. |
LB, yeah, got. 9ijaman, will be expecting ur call |
The passion with which Nigerians are working for the BB ticket, funding their activities from their pockets, is really touching. Somebody I didn't know sent me 400 mtn from Kaduna in the afternoon as her contribution to the BB dream. To think this person is unemployed. She said she saw my no from NL and she wanted me to use the recharge card to send sms to people on BB.How many Nigerian politicians can an unemployed graduate spend from her practically strait purse for? |
babasoty:That's what we want to tap. |
mbulela:Na so I hear too o. But I assumed things have not become so bad that that will actually happen. I assume the IG will come out to tell us he was misinterpreted or to rescind the order. |
Dear Nairalanders, This thread is opened to cover on-the-scene events during the election period. Please use it to report what happened in you polling booths or area. Witnessed any electoral fraud? Witnessed any intimidation or harassment? Or did the election go on freely and fairly? Let's have your report here. Accounts backed up by pictures will be more credible. Thread locked till a day to election, but be prepared! Thanks |
INTRODUCING 'WITH MY KOKORO EYES' Dear Nairalanders, As we promised in our strategy towards adequately and richly covering the forthcoming elections on Nairaland, we are introducing a thread called 'With my Korokoro eyes'. On this thread, you will be discussing what happened in your polling booths/areas. To give credibility to your report, please endeavour to back them up with pictures where possible. Also, don't forget to mention the area. We Mods are also on hand to guard the thread, to prevent it from being hijacked. The thread has been started but will be opened for general discussion a day to election. It will also be stickied immediately. https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-633298.0.html Be prepared! Thanks. |
Simon has confirmed he wasn't referring to NL only, but NL was definitely one of them. Jarus to SK Egbon Simon,SK's response Hello Sir |
Even Bola Ige, a Yoruba man that understood Hausa being Kaduna-born, addressed rallies in the north in Hausa language. Zik was fluent in Hausa, Yoruba and Ibo and he deployed this in his campaigns in each region. Obama said 'Salamu Alaikum' to start a speech in Egypt because he was in a Muslim country addressing Muslims. All these have inherent messages they passed. And these sagacious politicians deployed them. So why is Buhari's different? Tell Okupe to tell us another story. |
Seun:Two things. First, I may be wrong, but I don't think it's Mods only that should be creating threads and we even encouraged members to create educative threads on elections. Two, the current political activities centre on presidential debates and parties' final strategies. This is why it has not occurred to me to create any thread between then and now. Threads on debates opened by other members, like the NN24 and Youth-centred ones, have been rightly stickied(not by me, though but I found it in order), so it didn't occur to me to open a fresh thread on debates. That is what has happened. I planned to open a new poll, when elections are few days away, when permutations must have changed. Also, threads on on-field activities can only be opened few days or even hours to election for people to post what's happening in their centres. So I think the bulk of the real job is during election period. I may be wrong. But notwithstanding I'm challenged by this 'query' to think on other things we can do before elections proper reportage. Thank you. |
xterra2:Summary: We are strategizing on how to effectively cover the forthcoming elections and make NL a go-to for people wanting to know how the election is going/goes/went. |
Mod's Note: Partisan comments are not welcome on this thread. Go to campaign threads to campaign. Here is discussion on strategy to effectively cover teh elections. I have deleted partisan comments Thank you for complying. |
Areosapien:Sure, we have that in the cards. |
