I disagree with you, with due respect. Buhari's manifestoes, as available on their campaign website, is well thought-out, measurable, realistic and achievable. You probably mistook publicity, which Atiku, with his money, was able to give his own, for superiority. If Buhari had the money to splash his manifesto, point by point, on newspapers pages on daily basis basis like Atiku did, you would have been aware of his programmes. So the fact that Buhari doesn't have money to put his programme on every available public space doesn't mean he has none. He has it on his website and he has been mouthing in his campaign speeches as well. |
This may be true. While preaching BB candidacy to one Okada rider this morning, he told me 'all of them are voting for PDP at governorship election'. $ For presidential, he reluctantly said GEJ, I told him about Buhari, he said Buhari was OK, but IBB, Obj and others no go ever allow make him become president. I told him this time around votes will count, and he agreed to vote for BB. As for Fashola, I didn't bother to convince him, because he is undefeatable even with all okada drivers voting against him as planned. |

9ijaMan:Just finished discussing with him. We agreed to connect on Friday to collect 1,000 copies. |
Ekubear and MHD have said it all. And they are weighty. It also popularized the ticket down South here. And for the records, Odumakin has been Buhari's spokesperson b4 Bakare joined the ticket. |
Much has been said on this thread and I don't think I need detailed defence again. First, during the PDP primary period and GEJ got far more positive rating on this forum and threads multiplied on minute basis in favour of Jonathan against IBB, Atiku etc, did anybody say we mods made the forum pro-GEJ? When we put up poll for PDP mock primary at that time and GEJ floored other aspirants with about 80%, nobody raised a question that was the forum pro-GEJ? Was Yar'adua/Turai bashing was the order of the day on NL, nobody raised an eyebrow? Now anti-GEJism is the dominant sentiment on NL, and we mods are to blame. Two, I'm for BB. Incidentally, my co-Mod shares same view, where is our fault? We are both Nigerians entitled to our opinions and political stands. Will I say because I'm a mod, I should not express my political views in favour of or against anybody. It becomes an issue when I use mod privilege in favour of or against anybody, like stickying a BB topic or mischievously anti-GEJ topic, or PMing people to campaign for a candidate. Nobody can accuse me of these. The polls we stickied are not going in GEJ's favour, where is that our fault? During the PDP primary, we did a poll which we stickied and PDP won by landslide. At about same period, we did approval rating and GEJ got good rating. So when things have turned the other way round, is that our fault? I'm a BB fan, and I have every right to campaign for them as any other nairalander would do. If you even observe, I have tried to avoid talking about GEJ in most of my comments and I have not been so active on BB campaign on NL here for the simple reason that I don't want to give room for suspicion. I have modified topics where GEJ was called Odechukwu, I have cautioned forumers that Mr President deserves respect, only this afternoon I locked a thread where somebody, without substantiation, said NTA has been banned from airing Patience's speech for no other reason that it's an unfounded mockery. That is the barest minimum I can do. I cannot say because I am a Mod I should not identify with a political group/idea/personality, I only become partial if I use mod privilege to the favour/detriment of a candidate. |
Unsubstantiated. Locked. |
Source pls? |
No, Beaf I disagree. Could they have bribed Nairaland, Nigeria Village Square, CPAfrica, The Future Nigeria at the same time? Buhari leads in all these polls. Is it the Buhari team that don't have money to do enough posters that will have money or time to bribe pollsters? As regards Atiku, it was only one fishy website and that one was glaring. After all Jonathan led Atiku on NL poll here and other polls then. A better argument would have been millions that will vote for GEJ are not concerned with one poll somewhere or that majority of respondents to Buhari-led online polls are people who either are out of the country and cannot vote or people who will sit in from of CNN in their homes on election day. These are more reasonable arguments to counter these polls than alleging all of them are doctored. |
'Mind you, I can vote for them too' That's the most important. Pls do. |
If only you guys know what we face, you will appreciate our efforts. We are using force(through banning) and persuasion(talking to tehir head), yet they remain adamant, what else do you want one to do? We come here, ban, sends threads to recycle bin, warn, modify topics etc, yet before one comes back in few hours time, they have started new threads. These guys may think they are just catching fun, but little do they know the more they engage in these debasing acts, the lowly they sink in the estimation of not only forumers but also watchers. It's a pity, a great one. |
Can you prescribe alternative for us now? |
Tunde Bakare should not have mentioned this at this point. This may further kill the ACN/CPC alliance. This statement is an electoral liability to the BB dream. |
If this plan was not foiled, they would have said it's Buhari that sent them, and the CPC guber aspirant probably arrested. Remote message: even PDP members will not vote for GEJ in presidential elections many northern states, if party members that even go to the extent of stoning their presidential candidate. In Kano, popular as thier PDP guber candidate Kwankwanso is, it's Sai Kwankwaso, Sai Buhari. Same story in Gombe where shouts of Buhari overtook PDP rally. |
gernded:Even Jonathan himself will not say that. You obviously know nothing about voting history and current reality in Nigerian politics. |
Ibeto will not make teh list of Top 15 richest Nigerians. That is the truth. Even Dangote boys like Sayyu Dantata and Tajudeen Dantata will floor your Ibeto. IBETO aluminium " smelter" is in Lagos stateWhen you value all these Ibeto Enterprises Nigeria Limited and they worth 20% of Dangote's Obajana only, then you can come back and debate. |
hercules07:In fact, Yuguda can start to pack his bags now. He squandered the goodwill he had in 2007 where PDP denied him ticket in 2007 and decamped to Buhari' ANPP and defeated PDP candidate, but he's now back in PDP and he is a goner now. |
A very popular nairalander is my colleague in office. Few other colleagues are also Nairalander but not so active. We had Nairaland Muslims Joint Beaking of Fast in Lagos in Ramadan 2009 and 2010, so I met about 20 Nairalanders there. House and auto deals have also made me come across a few Nairalanders. |
dayokanu:No. I didn't get it. |
naijaking1:Having been here for a while and knowing NL quite well, I normally ignore posts like this. But given your respectable personality here, I decided to reply. First, I did not have any idea about how it got to front page. I, like other Mods, don't have power to put topic on home page. Only the Admin(Seun) and Supermod(Mukina) can do. Second, isn't it funny that when negative topics about Buhari like 'Buhari tells voters to LYNCH riggers' make the front page, nobody raised a question but when 'favourable' topics about him is given home page status, it's partiality? I opened that thread neautrally, as any other Nairalander Politics section contributor and the 'homepaging' authorities felt it's worth the frontpage, even without my knowledge, and here you are crying wolf. Remember, you did same during our Sanusi debates? |
gernded:I normally select people I engage on NL, and a post like this is better ignored, but for how long will one ignore ignorance? Closing my eyes to the obfuscating classification you put up there, I have a few questions for you: 1, Name 3 states in the North West 2, Do you read newspapers or watch news on TVs or listen to news on radio? 3, Are you on facebook? 4, Do you know the demography of voters? |
I agree with you Gbawe. There is a difference between open, public speeches you make at political rallies, facing thousands of people or in demonstrations or in open church crusades and that you make in a debate or interview or facing few people or defending or presenting a case. A politician needs both, like Obama. Many Nigerian politicians are lacking in both, some good in one. Adeola, coming from the private sector, will clearly find the latter easy: articulating your points, convincing your audience. This is what he needs for thsi debate. He doesn't need much swagger you will require in public rallies here. Lamido Sanusi is another man that finds this easy. Bakare may be able to make a good public speech in an open field, but I'm just imagining how someone like Adeola or Lamido Sanusi will be shouting addressing crowd. |
I see technocrat Adeola stealing the show and Bakare also doing well. Sambo too may not do badly, but it will be difficult for him to outdo the duo. |
Legislative rascality and parliamentary gambadoism Meanwhile, you missed the spelling of most of his words you put up there |
Ok 9ijaman. We'll speak on phone tomorrow by God's grace. |
When? To my official or personal address? |
From Adamawa now came this: Goodluck was here from last nite, had a rally here in yola today and nobody even noticed, the rally was poorly attended, 2 hrs later Buhari comes to town and for the last 3hrs, the whole town has been agog !!!, seems the people of Adamawa have spoken. From a FB friend witnessing BB in Adamawa. Watch out for this in news tomorrow. |

fstranger3:you make me laugh. who is ribadu. he is yoruba hate. he decieve tinubu. tinubu cannot win lagos, i will campaign dele momodu with my crowd in that picture, even i have satellite picture, u dont know me |
semid4lyfe:Don't you think humours like this are necessary once in a while? Even serious newspapers put 'April Fool' stories on front page on April fool day. |
Sweetnecta has said it all, but to localize it, 'just before dawn' normally hovers between 5am to 5.25am in Nigeria and average time for 'just after sunset' is between 6.20pm, especially in core north at certain period, with 7.15pm, as upper range, usually in the South at certain times. So it's not exactly fixed as 6-6 as your friend told u, but the key rule is 'just before dawn' to 'just after sunset'and that depends on region and time of the year. |
