This is very touching as it is pathetic, and it could have happened to anybody. May God save us from this kind of trial.
Hmmmmnnn. . . . again, it's a very serious case.
May God save us from these slavemasters called employers. From the story, it appears true that the school actually made mistake when contacted for your records in the first place. Your company's action that you should go and verify is therefore not out of place.

However, from their unwilling attitude to take you back after it has been proved that you actually had the degree, shows that there was more to it than met the eyes. I suspect they are unwilling to take you back because of your ordeal, your physical challenge. They probably have forgotten that your brain, not your legs in clutches will do the work. They apparently felt you will be a liability to them, going in and out of hospital etc. This is a product of our employers of labour's capitalist thinking. They deserted you when you needed them most.

I will advise you to pull it further, disturbing the HR managers. If however they still don't yield, you may do any of these two, but you have to forget that job though:
1, Sue them to court for breach of employment contract and claim monetary damage
2, Visit a popular newspaper house and request for interview. They will grant you, at least I'm sure of Punch. Narrate your ordeal to them and they will feature it as full page story one weekend. A lot of damage will be done to the company and their MD, CBN and human rights activists may wage into it to get justice done. You may lose that job though but you will get some compensation.

This should however be after you have exercised all possible means to plead with them.

Prayed Jumuah at 1004 today. I actually wanted to go to Eti-Osa LG Secretariat mosque as usual, but my boss( ED Finance) said we should go to 1004 and I followed him.

Pitiably, I didn't meet the sermon again today. The prayer started immediately we got there.

Today has actually been a very busy day for me. Analysing the results of the auction exercise we had yesterday, and sending mails out to winners and losers.
Thank God,I did not have any major issue with February month-end deliverables. The new rule in the department is that all the sub-ledgers must be ready latest by 5th of next month. I delivered mine yesterday, 4th, unlike last month when all the accounts in my charge were not ready until 12th, no thanks to NL and FB then.

Having rendered my most important deliverables yesterday, I was able to focus on Asset Disposal activities today. I was busy attending to bidders. The ones that did not win were thronging to my desk, to collect their cheques(10% deposit). I got several calls from Kaduna too.

The auditors also did not leave me alone today. We argued and argued like there is tomorrow. We dribbled ourselves.

I also had a brief meeting with the Group Finance team, where the Group Finance Manager highlighted the oustanding things they needed from me with regards to their year-end(2008) accounts(I handle Fixed Assets for group, in addition to my subsidiary). This is what will keep me extremely busy for teh next one week. I've got a lot to clean up with them.

I've got to close now. See y'all tomorrow, by God's grace!

I discussed/disclosed the conflict of interest with the committee Chairman, ED - Finance, and he advised that I can't bid in my name, but can bid in another staff's name. I bidded for two, won one and lost one.

Omo, I no 'engineer' am o. I was not even favoured being a committee member, but I was able to use my experience to bid a price that stood very high chance of winning. Yet, I lost in one, even for the one I won, I only beat the second person by 10K, nearly lost that one too.

i knew u wanted the avensis, see ur life grin grin grin
The Avensis was actually later withdrawn. This economic meltdown is telling on us too. 5 cars, including the Avensis, were held back from disposal. They were given to some staff as function cars, instead of buying brand new ones for them and some converted to pool cars. 14 Honda Civics eventually went.

I don't see any reason why the dominance of Igbo threads should raise any dust. Competing with them is as simple as just bombarding here with Yoruba or hausa threads. This complaint, I think, lacks base. It is another thing if all the threads are on the same topic, in which case we could have had point, accusing them of multiplicity of threads. Let the omo nnas continue with their talks while we Yoruba Yoruba and mallo continue with our oro and magana , respectively too. No need for mutual rivalry.

U have displayed GREAT wisdom. The good book says "a soft response turns away anger". I'll edit my initial comment.

But imagine Adeboye being your Dad, would you keep quiet at the kind of bashing irresponsible NLders, like Crackles and Lagosboy, throw at the old man. When did being a pastor become a crime.
Ko si ja tele na. . . .cheers. I have never bashed Adeboye and others on NL here. Green cap chief for Igboland?

If you are aware that green beret is what juniour workers/agberos from Nigerian union of road transport workers (NURTW) wear, then good for you. (cos money dey for moto park). But if you are not aware, you have been swindled. tongue

No worry, I go arrange one nice red cap for you. You deserve it.
LOL. . . I 'inherited' the cap from my jovial boss. . . ''Ebube 1, the only green cap chief in Igboland'', that is his nick/praise name in the company, even though he is Yoruba. We also have staff bearing nicknames like Alhaji Galadima, Niger Delta militant etc. I like that ebube1 title and stole from my boss. What does green or red cap denote in Igboland, pls?

This is simple a case of paranoia. Why should I hate u cos u re a muslim? My grandmum is a muslim, most of my inlaws are muslims.

The point u took was personal, was meant to be taken personal. I just made an observation and expressed an opinion on the hyprocrisy of some forum members and you took it personal.

Anyway, I dont hate u, I dont hate islam, but i do hate violence and I strongly believe that when violence and other nefarious acts are perpetuated by some members of our society, we all should stand up and condemn it outrightly, regardless of our tribal or religious orientation i.e when people are being murdered enmasse in the name of religion, we shd speak out against it and not come online saying "hmmm" or "i don confuse". such statements can be very infuriating.
I have never approved of violence. I will definitely not support the killing of Christians or burning of churches when two Muslim sects are fighting, as reportedly happened in Bauchi. But my problem is how people easily put blames only Muslims whenever Muslims/Christians crisis erupt, even when newspaper accounts clearly showed that the Christians were the ones that provoked the crisis. Reports showed that more Muslims were killed in the Jos crisis. I wrote an article in The Punch newspaper sometime around February 2006, titled 'THE DANISH CARTOON AND THE BORNO KILLINGS', outrightly condemning the attack on Christians in Maiduguri due to a cartoon in far away Denmark and Norway. I have never been afraid of speaking out all my life, even at the national level. My case has been discussed at the level of Sokoto state Executive council meeting with the Governor and all his cabinet. I have been quizzed by SSS in the past for an opinion I publicly declared in a newspaper. Ex-IG Ehindero tasked Osun state commissioner for police for on an opinion I made in a newspaper. How much more NL? So when I'm silent or say 'hmmnn' on an issue, never take it for hypocrisy or fear. You can accuse me of anything but not double-speak or fear of human. The subject of the topic in question was the effectiveness of CAN's call for arms as the solution to the problem, and I voted against the idea as the thread requested. My 'hmmmnnnn' was actually directed at those(earlier posters) that 'can they withstand this operation-let-everybody-carry-arms they are calling for?'. Something like 'enu dun rofo'

On the Bauchi crisis as a whole, killing Christians, when two Muslim sects are fighting, is most condemnable, . . . .and i've said what you wanted me to say, abi?
The Danish cartoon is most detestable and I wrote against it as a form of protest against it, but killing non-Muslims in far-away Nigeria is also bad, and I spoke openly against that too.

I leave u to the court of Public Opinion. If calling people 'stupid' makes you smart. Someone should pls tell me what's provacative about making a comment on the 'deafening quietness' of renown NL Islamic protagonists on the current issue.

Your posting lacks objectivity. I won't bother asking u for an apology for your disgraceful outburst. Problem with Nigerians is that we don't put ourselves in others' shoes.

I stand by my earlier comments, where are the likes of Muza, Lagosboy, Jarus now that christains are been slaughtered enmasse?
@ Xavier,
I waited for some time to see your response to that comment of mine. I never even knew you had responded until I dug out this thread again, in my attempt to challenge you in another diatribe you posted in the thread by Lagosboy on Pastor Adeboye, and saw your response.

FYI, you are not the only one that dislikes me for no other reason than my being a Muslim. In real life, I have encountered so many friends whose only issue with me is my being a Muslim. You have said it somewhere that you used to have problem with my postings until some people called you on phone. All your attacks on me on the thread on KWARA TEACHERS, which you cowardly deleted, are still fresh.
Dude, please

nuzo:
Do you think its a coincident that all of them suddenly disappeared from the forum?
Abeg. . . leave matter for mathias.
Nuzo,
FYI, I have never been off-NL for one hour in daytime, even at the peak of office work! You can check my posts via my profile and check the times. So I don't know what you mean by suddenly disappearing from NL. At no daytime was I not present on NL in the last 8 months.

As regards the accusation levelled against me, anybody with a good sense of observation in NL here should have observed that I don't comment on anything Christianity, even in the Islam for Muslims section. My posts on Islam/Muslims on sections other Islam for Muslim section are usually defensive, when Islam/Muslims are being bashed, and never offensive. The other possibility of Islam/Muslims coming from my posts in other sections is when I'm offering some analysis/explanations from an Islamic perspective.
You will never see me comment on Christianity because I know virtually nothing about the religion. I always try to avoid commenting topics on Christianity/Christaina/pastors/Jesus. I read through them and hold my opinion, tempting as they are always. For example, when I read the topic in the religion section on Huxley saying all sort of jargons against Jesus, I almost wept, but I restrained myself from contributing to that topic because I knew taht was not my territory.

Meanwhile, as a final note, like Obasanjo said to the Niger Delta militants, if we try to be reconciliatory, that doesn't mean we are cowards. If you guys insist on this warfare then I am more than ready for you.

The weight of imbecility rests on the shoulders of those Nigerians who classify certain people from northern region of Nigeria as Hausa/Fulani. There is nothing like Hausa/Fulani as in Yoruba/Igbo.
Don't compare the classification Yoruba/Igbo with Hausa/Fulani. Hausa/Fulani is an officially recognized political grouping. Within themselves they may be distinguishing who's Hausa and who's Fulani, but at the national stage they are seen as one. They have many things in common and the classification sticks, but Igbo and Yoruba are too distinct to be matched together.
Polygamy is a standard practice in most African nations especially the muslim ones. So, why is the population in Nigeria growing in geometric progression?. And yes, people still want to be Nigerian no matter what.
You beat me to this, as a refutal to the 'polygamy argument'.

I did Geography in the high school and in my first year in the uni, in addition to many private readings, but of all the 'factors affecting population growth' I have come across, there is none that I have found peculiar to Nigeria and not other countries, especially West African.

Poverty/Illiteracy - Not only Nigeria. Senegal,CIV,Ghana,Togo etc not better than Nigeria, yet have 'tiny' population compared to ours
Religious factor - Not only Nigeria. Almost all WA countries have 50-50 Christian/Muslim mix like Nigeria. So this explanation is void
Land mass: The opposite is even the case. Many African countries have alrger land mass, but far less population
Culture/taboo etc: Rife, not only in Nigeria, but in Africa as a whole

So why is our population extremely high? Still waiting for a convincing explanation.
