Why not search. This topic is overdiscussed here. You may revive old thread on the subject. |
How can you be aware?Yes, he may not be aware. It allegedly happened around late 2007 or early 2008(can't remember) and anybody that wasn't a member then may not be aware. |
Like the acrobatic celebration of Martins. Other than that, likes Drogba's. |
90% of people will point to the coach as the reason behind the success or otherwise of a team. This is widely believed, as coaches are the first to be fired when a team is not delivering. To many people, coach is even more important than players. But for long, I've not been very comfortable with this widespread belief. Let me bring a little argument: -If I coach Barca and and Mourinho, Fergie & Wenger, for example combine to coach Sunderland, do you think Sunderland will beat my team? -Newcastle has changed coaches several times this season alone, yet there is hardly any change, do you think coach is the problem? -At this crucial stage of Newscastle, do you think any coach can rescue them? -If we form a team of 11 + 3 subs from Brazilian national team, without a coach, and tell them to decide and agree within themselves the formation they want to play etc, and they face Sudanese national team coached by whoever is believed to be the best coach in the world, can they beat coachless Brazilian team? These are things I keep wondering about, when coaches are discussed, even though I know it's amateurish thinking. My belief is, for a team to succeed this is the order of relevance: -Players 60% -Coach 15% -Luck 5% (You may be lucky in very few matches e.g opposition team's own goal, fluke goals etc but these wont happen everyday) -other factors 20% Am I the only one that believes coach's relevance is overrated? Anyone to convince me I'm wrong? |
Just came across this thread this morning. JARUS DOESN'T POST BEYOND ISLAM FOR MUSLIMS SECTION? It is common saying that don't argue with a fool because people may not know the difference. But much as I always try to ignore the old woman called Osisi, one can't help not replying her at times. First and foremost, no sane forumer will say there is anything wrong in choosing to post in one section. There are many forumers that have more than 1000 posts but hardly post outside of one section. Some don't post outside sports, some post not beyond romance, some autos(inspire-m). So what's the big deal in posting not beyond the Muslims section? That by the way. For any Nairalander to say I am not active beyond the Muslims section is a brazen display of ignorance of NL. Yes, one can be on NL 24/7 and still be ignorant about what's going on there. Emi Jarus! Do a poll on Politics section and I'm sure I will make the list of Top 10 posters there, anyday. Senior posters like Kobojunkie,Lucrabasi,Richyblack, Nuzo, Jakumo, Nuzo and even Funmi DZ will all tell you this. In sports section, I may not be among the Top 10 contributors, but Jarus is a 'threadhold' name there. Ditto for Career, Nairaland & Culture sections. So what are you saying. Ooooh, I now know the reason: Osisi doesn't see me in Sexuality section. An effortless research of just clicking my profile would have saved whoever said it this gaffe. But their pre-conceived bias would not let them do that. As at the time I'm typing this this is my posting stats: Politics 383 Sports 269 Islam for Muslims 132 Nairaland 104 Education 95 Culture 92 Career 52 Autos 25 Jobs/Vacancies 22 Religion 21 Now, compare this with OLAADEGBU the Chief Critic's stats, and see who's guilty of 'mono-sectionism' Religion 1398 Forum Games 217 Islam for Muslims 71 Family 15 Culture 5 Dating And Meet-up Zone 5 Sports 3 General Discussion 3 Romance 2 Jokes Etc 1 Any statistician here to test the skewness? All my posts in Religion + Muslims section is 30.59% compared to OLAADEGBU's staggering 94.47% Seun himself knows the claim is 'misinformation'. Auwal, oyb,Lagosboy,Mrcrackles,Mukina,Mustay, etc are all as active in other forums as in Islam 4 Muslims section. Only Olabowale satisfies the so-called post-not-beyond-Muslims-section feature of Muslim Nairalanders mischievously crafted as subject of this thread. And there is nothing wrong in that. Go to autos section, you will see people(inspired-m et al) whose business in NL is just to sell cars, just as Egbon Olabs has taken it on himself to defend Islam here as well as educate us less-knowledgeable Muslims. Lastly, oyb is a good Muslim. Take it or leave it. We work in same office and his desk is just few metres away from mine. I know him very well. The fact that he is versatile enough to contribute to every section doesn't make him less Muslim. |
Lagosboy:LB, you've said it all. There is no other religion that strongly talks against racism as Islam. In fact, qur'anic verses and prophetic sayings abound that warn Muslims against racism/tribalism/sectionalism. So sinful is racism in Islam that the Prophet(PBUH) emphasized it in his last sermon, along other grave sins like usury etc: See the boldened “O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore, listen to what I am saying to you very carefully and take these words to those who could not be present here today. |
Personally, food or state of my stomach has nothing to do with my exams. What matters is my my state of mind. It makes no difference whether I'm hungry or fully fed. When I'm about to enter exam hall, I don't care about food/my stomach. Even If I've not eaten for 24 hours, that can't stop me from recalling what I've read. However, I can remember when I was in the varsity, I enjoyed my reading/studying most when I had enough money with me, which I can use to buy anything, including food, anytime. If I had enough money on me, I can easily dash to the eatery, buffets, cafe and other side attractions that made reading stress-free. The summary is that while money/food makes me enjoy my studying, they don't have anything to do with my input in exams hall. |
Yes. . . even though I believe he can't do magic. |

I'm ready to join this union if formed. Although I hardly have time again, my own aspect of writing is article writing, passing commentary on national/global economic/political issues. Am I also fit in here? |
nuzo:My point: I'm not surprised G.O or RCCG bought jet. I have always known they have the money. |
Much as I always prefer to be a spectator, rather than an active contributor, to NL debates that centre on Pastors/Church/Christianity, I find this topic too inviting to stomach my opinion. This is no doubt one of NL's fiercest debate in recent time. With two of NL's politics section's most respected contributors, Kobojunkie and Lucrabasi engaging the likes of equally respected NL personalities like DK,Jakumo & Banom, with becomrich, ubiquitous Mr Crackles, adding what could be called neutral comments, one can't help not registering his presence here. When I first read the jet acquisition story in the papers(or was it on NL here that I first saw it as a breaking news?), I took it like any other news. I was not surprised at all, first because I knew with such fanfare RCCG would definitely have a very deep pocket; second because if Oyedepo can afford it, why can't G.O. I know how rich these pastors are. Their source of wealth? My presumption is, given the way Super rich Nigerians idolize these people, some of them will not hesitate to drop half of their wealth into their pastor's/church's coffers. Sincerely, I strongly believe this, hardly agreeing with common sense as it seems. The rich idolize them!!! This is the explanation that comes to my mind when I try to fathom these people's source of wealth. Another point I need to raise here is that that borders on Thisday's credibility. Dele Momodu, a close pal of Nduka Obaigbena, ThisDay publisher, was the first that attempted defending Adeboye in his column in Thisday on Sunday, PENdulum. In that article, he defended strongly Adeboye. I know how close Dele is to Nduka. I have followed both long enough to know that they think in the same line. I will not be surprised if it's true, as argued by some people, that Nduka had to make his paper retract teh first story, so as to officially do image cleansing for G.O. But by the way, I don't personally care about what Adeboye or anybody uses. If I also have the money, I'll surely buy one. |
I hate eko (hard one). I mean that one they wrap in leave or newspaper or whatever. |
Bobbyb:Eto'o is perhaps the most consistent goal machine in Europe as Henry gradually left the stage. 2004 thru 2006, Eto'o was painting Europe red with goals. Consider this: Season Club Total goals 2002-03 R/Mallorca 19 2003-04 R/Mallorca 21 2004-05 Barca 28 2005-06 Barca 34 2006-07 Barca 13 (injury-hit) 2007-08 Barca 18 (injury-hit) 2008-09 Barca 29 So the last 18 months you are talking about fell into the period injury kept him on and off the game. And for a player that played less than half of what he would have played in a whole season if fit, still having 18 goals return showed his class. And immediately he came back, his scoring boots even got stronger. No disrespect to Villa, Torres, of course. |
@Murphy, My understanding of what you're saying: You worked, albeit as casual staff, for your brother-in-law boss and he gave you 7k, instead of 20K he gives(gave) other casual staff? If I got you, then I think one of these two things could be happening: 1, From the way you joined the company, it's informal and he didn't see you as part of staff; he felt he's just helping you out of your idleness, so he's rewarding you at his discretion. 2, The 'testing' talk may also be true, even though I doubt that is the case. I will advise you to keep mum, continue with the work and see what happens at the end of this second month. If he still gives you 7K, then the testing suggestion is out of it. He's not testing you, he has resolved to be paying you arbitrarily. My advice: If after second month, he still gives you 7K, then it is left for you to decide whether to quit or stay. If you feel earning 7K pays you more than staying at home, then continue with the work, while, of course, searching for better job. If you feel 7K is too ridiculous or can't cover your expenses(especially transport), then quit but you have to manage this wisely to avoid family clash(i.e being your in-law). Quit honourably, don't bad-mouth him. Who knows, he may be of help in the future. Cheers!!. |
It's a pity I can't open the video on my system. Wish to watch this scene that has Nairalanders display rare unanimous opinion(that the act is shameful!). |
Much as I have seen Mikel's performance post WYC 2005 as disappointing, I will not heap the blame of the Moz show of shame on him only. If any player is to carry the whole blame, it has to be Martins. But then I'll not pour the blame on Martins' doorstep too. The whole team was crap. Osaze and Uche were impressive in first half but faded into oblivion in second half. If I'm to rate individual players, I'll surely give Mikel the least mark but I will not he was responsible for that abysmally poor performance. If Martins, for example, had scored those goals, the story would have been slightly different, at least we will have a clause as ''. . . but at the end we were able to grind out 3 maximum points'' |
SOCCER STAR: "Obafemi Promises hell for mozambique"Sometime ago, some forumers in one African soccer forum unanimously agree that ''Nigerians play football by mouth''. I agree. If football is played by mouth then Nigeria would have won the world cup. Back to the topic, I think the way out of the current entanglement is to beat Tunisia home and away. And that's possible, I believe! If Moz plays against Tunisia the way they played us, then Tunisia will also be in for a long night. This Moz team can beat Tunisia too. Remember CIV and Senegal have already tasted their own from these guys. Tunisia may be the next. But if Tunisia has a good coach, they can tame these rampaging Mozambicans. All he needs is to learn from Naija and CIV's mistakes and evolve a game plan to cage them. I'm still very confident that Nigeria will make this WC. I'm aware Tunisia is also an expert in WC qualifications( they were at the last 3 WCs), but I'm just positive. Ekan l'omo okunrin ku! |
I go with Sp[anish La Liga |
The distance Gerrard, Essien would run, Zidane/Riquelme would make the ball do the running by threading a slide rule a pass .Wow, this drives me longing to watch 'the Dean' play again! |
If we sack him who do we put there, anyone? |
Save for the South African guys(RSA, mpele etc), I think the opposite is even the case. Foreigners are more respected in NL. Sistawoman, Sean(Liberian girl), that Jamaican girl(JamaicanQT or what's her name) and that Kenyan lady all get at least equal, if not fairer treatment. Mukina is widely adored. As regards RSA, mpele and some other SA folk here, they are usually at the offensive. They say anything but good about Nigeria and Nigerians. And trust Naija men/women, they give them more than they bargained for. Even Ghanaians, despite being our fiercest rivals, have been civil here and the same treatment has been accorded them. Everybody going his/her way. So I don't agree with your observation. |
@Jarus,You are not serious. But more seriously, even conceiving that thought is serious to Mikel. Can you ever imagine being better than Drogba or Toure? |
I hate loud ringtones. I set my phone in vibration mode during the day and silent mode when going to bed to avoid night-callers that may want to disturb my sleep. |
. . . wondering If I wouldn't have done better than JMO in that match. I'm serious!!! |
No. A Muslim is not expected to lie, even while playing. |
Probably because I had earlier fallen to one, I knew before I opened this thread that it was April fool. |
Chei, I chop dis thing sha! ![]() |
Nigerian women are somehow more modest in public. It is seen as height of immodesty in Nigerian society for women to drink openly. Some don't send though. |
Thought I read she was given fine option. |
