kio052001: Plz guys dos nokia 701 have its own application diff 4m dat of its s60v3 & 5,No. It has its own applications though some S60V5 apps still work on it. It runs S^3 apps and games. |
passion007: If these figures you have cited are truly relevant to RIM, it ratifies the story that the company has been scratching the bottom of the pot...a portent of impending demise, given RIM's history.Yes they are just like LG, Nokia, HTC, Sony e.t.c are currently doing and Apple and Samsung once did. In a rapidly evolving market like the smartphone industry, the ability to react to change remains critical for survival and RIM are starting to do that. Do you really think that in say 7 years time Apple and Samsung would still be ruling the smartphone industry? |
adconline: Ur problem is in arithmetic. Naija is less than 5% to sustain RIM.Your problem is that you lack sound logic i.e. you can't reason properly. Just show me where I said Nigeria alone can sustain RIM. I'm sick and tired of coming to NL and seeing ignorant folks ravaged with inferiority complex who cannot analyse issues at it relates to us in Nigeria. They rather think anything happening in America must be replicated here. |
adconline: For a mathematically and analytically challenged like you.I see your problem is one that has to do with inferiority complex based on falsehood but let me try and put you in place. 1. I never said we have 5 million BB users. I said we have about 5 million smartphone users currently. ( http://www.nairarains.com/2012nigeria-smartphone-users-expected-to-hit-25-million-in-2016/ ) 2. As of July 2011 we had about 1.2 million BB users. By February this year, that number had reached 2.4 million. Now that's double in just about 6 months. ( http://www.businessdayonline.com/NG/index.php/tech/telecoms/25088-blackberry-hits-1million-mark-in-nigeria ) ( http://www.businessdayonline.com/NG/index.php/tech/telecoms/32167-blackberry-hits-24-million-mark-in-nigeria ). 3. Now take such fast growth rates and add them to other developing nations like SA and Indonesia. The fact is that the markets RIM dominates are the rapidly expanding ones and if that trend continues, they would be here for a very long time. Most of the developed markets are not growing that fast. 4. You might think the figures from such markets don't matter, but as of the last quarter, RIM, HTC, LG, Sony, e.t.c all shipped smartphones between the 6 and 8 million mark. If the current trend continues, then RIM may survive longer than most of them especially with BB10 arriving. 5. Also I don't know where you get it that most BBs sold are used. Maybe that's your experience but I know alot of people that have bought BBs in the recent past and not even one was secondhand. 6. Lastly maybe you should read this to see what others think of Nigeria and like countries in the role they have played and may play in safeguarding BB. Though they got some numbers wrong, it's still an interesting read because life does not start and end with Europe and America. http://crackberry.com/some-interesting-blackberry-statistics-nigeria |

adconline: Educating an ignorant mind!I don't know how you managed to get everything in your post wrong or maybe you just love pulling numbers from your anus. 1. Nigeria has well over 2 million BB users. 2. Half of BB users here buy them used? Please provide proof for this or throw it into the dustbin where you picked it from. 3.BBs are not to popular in Europe and America but are still very popular in Asia and Africa which is still a very significant market. 4. Following your logic, Apple just launched its first iPhone in China. If China was a huge market, they would have done that several years ago. FYI China currently has the most smartphone users in the world.. Now you've seen your post was baseless, why not tell us the number of smartphones LG, Motorola, Sony Erickson and the whole lot of non-samsung OEMs sold in the last quarter and you would see that RIM are just as likely as they are to survive. |
adconline: Nigeria doesn't count. Maybe one of the biggest markets for used BB phones not new BBs. RIM makes money from new products. Provide numbers to back up your claim. Why not provide proof for the trash you put up there. We have a rapidly expanding feature phone and smartphone market just like most of Africa and Asia where BBs are still popular. I've seen much more people buying new BBs than I've seen buying androids or iPhones. Let me start by asking you what market you think counts? As of the time symbian was in dominance, they were almost non-existent in the US. Nigeria has over 5 million smartphone users. Do you know that's about the population of alot of countries in Europe? Have you bothered to ask yourself the number of smartphone users in most European countries? Even iPhones are almost non-existent in most parts of Asia and just launched in China recently for the very first time. What I'm trying to say is that although they are important, Europe and America do not constitute the world. And for starters, why not tell me the number of new phones sold by RIM in the last quarter and compare that to other non-samsung android OEMs. You can also compare their profit margins. |
sushieater: what's not true? oga, get your facts right before you start this RAY CHARLES arguement you want to start..And oh! it's no longer 80 million, it's now 79 millionWhy not start by providing proof of what you said that 48 out of the 50 are second hand. It doesn't take rocket science to see that if BB takes about 50% of our smartphone market, then they should lead in both new and second hand phones bought especially when the enthusiasm for it is very much alive. I've seen much more people with new BBs than androids in the recent past. And for your 79 million talk, I hope you saw the 'about' I put and I also hope you know the meaning. |
Mcdondayan: pls i need your assistance in the choice of phone to buy. mcdondayan@yahoo.com |
sushieater: yeah, but 48% of the 50% are fairly used bb phones from other countries..have you ever thought of what would happen to RIM when those countries we get the phones from are no longer buying bb phones?..Nigerian market share or african market share can never help RIM!!That's not true. The greater percentage of new phones currently being bought in developing nations like Nigeria and South Africa are BBs. Also they have about 80 million current BIS users and that's not going to disappear easily. |
The last time I checked, BBs were still the most popular smartphones in Nigeria with over 50% market share. It still seems alot of you folks do not understand that variety is the spice of life. BTW, I don't use one. |

ceejay80s: It depends on specifications, just type the tv name and model in google search and read specifications, make sure either tv has usb port, my lcd is the best MATSUI, i didnt buy it brand new, i bought it from a dealer who offloads containers, my matsui tv has inbuilt dvb, dvb is a digital tv service e.g GOtv, STARTIMES tv. I receive these channels without the decoder, its like the tv has inbuit decoder, it also has analog tv and i bought this lcd in january and i have not seen any fault, though i use mine with a 1200 maxtron ups which lasts upto 1hr 30min. So it depends on tv specificationsPlease what do those stations show? Are they clear or do you have to do some manipulation (like attaching an antenna to get them clearly? |
ceejay80s: Buy the one with inbuilt satellite tv. U can always buy a ups that will carry ur tv for 1hr 30min just like the lg inbuilt batteryYou have a point here but I just wanted to know which stations it gets and whether it does that clearly. You know some stations are as good as useless. |
Thanks for the replies |
Its temple run for me. I still don't see anything enjoyable in angry birds. Maybe it's because I've not got myself to play it though I still have it installed. |
Still waiting... |
Hello peeps, I made this post in the television section but didn't get any reply so I decided to post it here. If you've used any of them, feel free to comment. jedisco: HelloJust to add, they are both 32" in size. |
Hello I'm torn between this and the LG battery TV. Please can someone tell me the kind of channels available on this and also if its reliable i.e gets the necessary channels without effort. Also on the LG battery TV, how long does the battery last? I know the quoted figure is upto 90 mins, but I need actual everyday usage. Also, is the battery durable i.e. Let's say after 1 year, does it still last like when it was new? Please I need answers urgently |
coogar: you are a tool.....I don't know why you're throwing insults. You keep shouting emergency, UK. Let me ask you why and how they offer such services there? Is it because the doctor pays? Just as you're not the one to be paying for patients, so also is the doctor not the one to do that. B doctor is meant to save lives but it's not part of his duty to do that for free. Malnutrition kills more Nigerian children than cancer does to British children and yet I don't see anybody attacking Mr. Biggs |
frosbel: My mother in-law was treated for free 2 times in an emergency situation here in the UK , though she is 100% Nigerian.I've got just one question for you. DO YOU THINK SHE WAS TREATED FOR FREE BECAUSE THOSE WHO TREATED HER TOOK CARE OF HER BILLS? I want you to understand that you don't walk into a hospital in the UK and get treated because the doctor takes care of it. It doesn't happen that way in any country. |
@forsbel and coogar I hope you know you are talking rubbish. You keep mentioning UK. Do you think I can go into any hospital in the UK and get free emergency care because the doctor takes care of it? I hope you know that your rants here ain't gonna change nothing. So let me ask you what have you done personally to ensure free emergency care? Have you ever been to any Nigerian hospital and paid patients fees? Or do you think that it's part of the doctors training to offer free services? Maybe you should start with JAMB and spend 6 years in school and come out and offer free services. Do you know that bad roads cost us more lives than this? Or do you know how many lives early marriages cost us? What have you done to address those? You should throw that your 'what if it's your sister' rant into the dustbin cos its not going to save anybody. |

@op You should mind your business. I don't see BB users complaining and I also see no reason why you should do so on their behalf. |
Stanley08: Hey! Good! You got my point! RangeRoverHSE and Toyota Camry no dey the same level!I don't know what you mean by level, but for now one thing is certain- the iPhone is more successful and expensive. |
Rt |
Dygeasy: ^^^Free the guy. But NL would first have a mobile app before talking of this. |
4llerbuntu: there u areI'll wait till January before I give my final take on it, but before then, I see no reason to be utterly pessimistic. |
DANILSA:Which Samsung BTW? |
mr.drizzy:Man you're confused! |
mr.drizzy:I hope you know 750,000 and 500,000 ain't thesame thing? |
