pDude: He he he he he. It's already done thatwho exactly is this mukina and what is his/her relationship with seun? |
Ileke-IdI:Over 50% of smartphone users in Nigeria. Do you have a problem with that? |
I said it. Every thread that guy/girl views must hit FP. |
walcolm: very illogical and poorly articulated opinionHmm... Is this the Walcolm I know? This one mukina is viewing, I'm sure its gonna hit frontpage. |
Stanley08: OMO! See control + P oh! LOOOL! This guy sef. No wonder you call yourself a jedi. Guy abeg go rest jor! You dey Nairaland dey flex muscle. Oga behave urself. That's good. Next time you would think twice before coming here to spew trash. |
Stanley08: Who took this one's bread? Blackberry shares are nose diving. I'm sure u are one of the many nigerians that think blackberry is a 'smartphone'. And definitely use one. You feel like calling me a fool, good for you. but I am calling you a fool. Be lucky if dat company is still standing after 5 years.Well for starters I don't use a BB. I know your little mind would find that hard to believe. I'm sure you're asking yourself why anyone would be so open-minded about phone OSes? Well not everyone worships devices they buy with their money. So to you BBs are not smartphones? You are one ignorant fellow. You should look for blinded folks like yourself to argue with. What disgusts me is your repeated use of the word 'Nigerians' as if we can't choose the phone that best suits our needs. I'm sure your main reason of using an android phone is because its popular in Europe. What a fool you are. Well let me tell you that android and iOS were once very small startups in the US. You should leave the talk about shares to more intelligent folks seeing that you do not have the capacity to understand the very basic smartphone world. If I were to reason like you, I would say the iPhone is rubbish because Apples stocks has fallen almost 50% in the last 6 months. Mind you, they still make more than double of ALL what android OEMs make put together. I don't know when you started using a smartphone, but you should ask yourself where android was 5 years ago and you would see how silly you really are. |
This is the kind of news I want to hear. We should be concerned about these big multinationals developing our local content. This is why I get annoyed when people are not in touch with the reality around them and instead think that we should copy westerners blindly. |
UncleJJ: Ha Ha.... hope the BB, has touch screen, atleast 10GB internal memory, 4g, wifi, btooth,NFC, acurrate gps,My reply to Stanley08 above also goes to you. Grow up man!!! |
Stanley08: Leave Nigerians! Let them keep pinging, Technology will pass them by! Blackberry is the least innovative mobo ever made.I don't like insulting people but I feel like calling you a fool. Your post is as childish, senseless and stupid as going out on the road and telling everyone who doesn't use thesame brand of car that you have that they are archaic. What's worse is that I'm disgusted at your statement about Nigerians using BBs. That just goes to show you've got inferiority complex issues. I can go on and list countless devices and services that are mainly limited to the US and still I don't see Americans criticising then for not being available all over the world. Even if its only Nigerians using BBs, I see nothing wrong with that as far as it works for them. Over 50% of smartphones in Nigeria are BBs and still I don't see them displaying such moronic attitude you and your folks continue to display here |
@zazu04 you should have just posted a link to the review rather than copying and pasting the whole review here. BTW its not too late to do that. |
bad_ass_nigga:It hurts yes. But its nothing personal. Maybe its because I expect a certain level of reasoning from people here so when I see something much lower than the minimum standard being displayed, I get irked out cos that's thesame reasoning that has chased alot of intelligent minds out of this section. |
bad_ass_nigga: BlackBerry users areFYI I'm not a BB user. I pay for the devices I use so I see no reason why I should make myself a mental slave of any. |
Francheezy: fandr0id...I'm a free mind who loves tech and is not a blinded worshiper of one platform. |
bad_ass_nigga: this is Rim now blackberry last attemptA moronic fanboy you are. I would refer you to my reply to you on this thread: https://www.nairaland.com/1180222/rim-changes-name-blackberry-unveils |
bad_ass_nigga: they should av adopted android as d platform ...most of d features av seen so far do not impress me because android devices have nearly all.I don't know how some of you fanboys manage to see android in everything. If android is so good for you then stick to what you have because every smartphone is not going to run on android. Shameless fanboys like you should desist from derailing every thread here. |
bukahands: I believe the poster doesn't know bb10 is a new os with beta features than OS7That's NL for you- peeps criticising blindly. |
o-prime:I still don't get what you're trying to say. I wonder what this phone has to do with their past. This is a new start. |
I don't even what is going on on this thread at all. First, prices in pounds or euro don't equate to prices in naira. We should understand that most european countries have about 25% tax added on these items. Our prices here are more in consonace with american prices. Personally, I expect its local price to be in harmony with that of other flagships (bar the iPhone) that is between 90,000 - 100,000 at launch. |
Akainzo: When one starts needing "an app" to do basic things, then what is the essence.Man one thing with me is that I hate fanboyism with a passion. Now tell me what your post had to do with the question or reply. But let me look at your senseless reply. I don't know whether you want to start comparing smartphones based solely on what they can do out of the box cos that would be moronic. The last time I checked, the most successful smartphone OS doesn't even support it at all. Maybe its time you learn the meaning of the word variety. |
Revolva: But please why is nokia lumia not able to transfer just a comon picture file..to my BB..via bluetooth why na it can't even pair it no bluetooth facility to send out to other types of fone..shege for whatMan update your phone to WP 7.8. It has an app that enables you do that. |
Damon03: send 2 to 131 or use *559#Ok. Thanks |
jedisco: It's been long I used MTN data plans but I just noticed they no longer charge me for data.Make person answer me naw |
Charmin':There are two options here. First is Nokia 701 which is a good symbian phone. The other is Nokia 800 which is also a good phone and is very beautiful. If that friend is not in a hurry, I would suggest he/she waits for Nokia 620 which should be available in 1-2 months. It runs windows phone 8, is better than the two above and should come in below 50k |
It's been long I used MTN data plans but I just noticed they no longer charge me for data. Please can someone remind me how to check your remaining data. |
Francheezy: una 2 dey make me l0lHmm... Una?? Abeg na who be the una cos I can't remember encountering him before. |
shagarri: Advice the OP and move on.I was just being plane and I can't see the fire in my words. Of course I advised the op but just couldn't resist replying you seeing you were surreptitiously bashing other products falsely. |
Francheezy: jed!sc0 n0 mynd am jw0or.....bluet0oth vers!0ns, keep increas!ng latest is v4.0Guy I don tire for some peeps sef. |
shagarri: what do you want to send via bluetooth....thats so nokia.Bluetooth?? an old-school technology?? This is the main reason why I stopped visiting the phone section of NL. Like I said in another thread sometime ago, I'm sick and tired of coming to this section to see wannabes who cannot see things in the Nigerian perspective. I've been to other phone forums online and their local flavour always takes the front seat and they are always quick to remind you that this is an American or British forum as the case may be. When I come here, all I see is people hating BB or Nokia phones cos they are not popular in the US - a country that does not care about our existence. I call that inferiority complex! You say sending files via bluetooth is old-school. I would absolutely agree with you if I lived in a country where over 90% of my online connection is done over free and fast wifi and where I also get cheap access to unlimited or large amounts of data at speeds of upto 21Mb/s. But I live in a country with one of the slowest and expensive data speeds (including 3G) in the world, which is subject to frequent blackouts and is just available in few cities. What's more? This is a country where over 50% of smartphones are BBs mainly because it offers cheaper data rates. Now that's the Nigerian perspective! Bluetooth transfer is still alive here just as in most parts of the world. Here sending files via bluetooth is in over 95% of cases cheaper, faster, easier, more secure and more reliable. Even speaking of the technicalities, I don't know of any recent smartphone that doesn't have Bluetooth. The fact that only Apple decided to make file transfer very hard doesn't make it obsolete. Infact others have gone on to introduce NFC and Slam which makes transfer much easier. Also, the fact that on several polls by iOS users done just before the release of the next iOS version, the ability to allow Bluetooth transfer was one of the most wanted features on the next iOS version which has been recently replaced by NFC speaks so much about the self-denial. @op Although the iPhone has Bluetooth support, but it doesn't natively allow file transfer via it. Although there are apps to circumvent this, as of the last time I checked its still limited to transfer to another iOS device which has the app. This is pretty much useless in our country. |
phemmydiya: We (Nigerian) fail to understand that every death should be diagnosis thoroughly so as to prevent the same occurring. Develop countries use on usual death like this to prepare future cases. Nothing wrong in NMA looking at a cases like this away from general public. RIP Adieu Bidi Komolafe.Omo what is this? If english dey hard you lyk this why not use pidgin. |
Someone used an illustration to explain this to me sometime ago. He said, "if you go to ask your dad about your school fees do you shout? I guess not. What about you being stung by a scorpion or bitten by a snake, how would you call you dad for help? I know it would be with screams. Personally, I think scriptures asking us to pray quietly and not blabbing and repeating words hoping to be answered are trying to explain to us that if we are to speak loudly when praying, it should not be done just so other people will hear us, to show our prowess or because we think we would be answered faster. Rather it should come from within and we should be careful not to also unnecessarily disturb others. If you go though the Bible you would see that alot of great prayers were just cries and weeping unto God with little or no words and yet God answered them. Sometimes the burden may be so heavy that even words may not suffice. |
Bumpa d: Pls do u knw hw much it costhttp://affordablephonesng.com/page.php?page=Nokia http://store.ptvphones.com/ It looks as if it's quite scarce. I remember someone complaining recently that he couldn't find it in Onitsha. |
KazaaUpload: Bros I agree with your logic but you missing the big picture. The thing is that you don't get me at all. 1. Alot of secondhand phones are sold in Nigeria but that does not change the fact that the majority are new ones. If that wasn't the case, you won't be seeing OEMs setting up base here. 2. About the pricing of BB phones, this is what RIMs regional director had to say "The most common misconception about what we do here is that we are mainly selling the cheaper models. The reality is that there is a hierarchy even within the BlackBerry owning class and we sell right the way through the range from $200 to $500 handsets," ( http://crackberry.com/some-interesting-blackberry-statistics-nigeria ) You may not like it but alot of expensive phones being sold in Nigeria are BBs. This is also occurring in most of Africa and parts of Asia and South America. If RIM can capture these markets, then it may not need Europe as much as you guys think. A dollar made from Nigeria is thesame as that made from England. The fact that Symbian ruled the smartphone world with little or no input from America should always ring a bell. 3. I agree with you that the road up for RIM is a tough one especially if you consider the fact that they single-handedly make both the OS and hardware, but they still have an edge giving the fact that they're doing well in rapidly growing markets unlike all non-samsung and Apple OEMs that are doing badly everywhere. Like they say, numbers don't lie. RIM is still selling more smarts or like numbers than most others. So why do you think the likes of HTC, Sony and LG would survive but not RIM? 4. Lastly, the playbooks sold for less than $100 are not new but refurbished ones. |
