I wonder how she manages to use it with those long nails. I really don't think it would be that comfortable. She should rather get a phone with a super sensitive screen.

Bawss1: Nokia should shut up and take my money grin

All I want to know now is how much this is going to sell for in 9ja?
Just hope it doesn't arrive locally when 940 is announced. But I think Nokia have learnt their lesson and are not solely focusing on some markets like they did with 900.

jmaine: Samsung is the worst culprit . . .Premium prizing with a cheap finishing grin
Not really. At least Samsung products are not that expensive comparatively. Their problem is their cheap build and lack of any aesthetic appeal.

If you look at apple, they clearly have beautiful devices with good build but are really fragile.

What I can say is that with this device, Nokia (as always) found a good mix of looks, build and strength.

The video is very impressive but it really didn't surprise me knowing fully well it's a Nokia product.

I wonder whether it's so hard to make quality stuff that many other OEMs continue making expensive high end but fragile devices.

aia99: @ jedisco thank u very much which means am going for nokia 701
You're welcome.
PhonesRe: Nokia Belle Is Here by jedisco(m): 8:25pm On Nov 13, 2012
aia99: thanks pls nokia n8 & nokia 701 which one is better in terms of hd games and also gpu stuff
Well 701 has twice the RAM, about twice the processor speed and a more capable GPU than N8. In terms of HD games, it's definitely the better option.

aia99: Gurus in d house i hav hacked my phone(nokia 500)but when i installed some hd games,it refused 2 open.i was told i need an application to run hd games . Can somebody pls tell me d kind of app i can use 4 it & d download link
I think Nokia 500 doesn't have a GPU which is needed for most HD games. If there's a way around that, google should be your best bet.

roqchiq: Gurus pls, i need a video player for all formats on my N8.
You can use uc player but make sure you don't allow it to connect online or search your phone for videos. When you want to watch a video, manually add it. This way it wouldn't crash.
PhonesRe: Iphone Or Android by jedisco(m): 5:32pm On Nov 06, 2012
petaling: Quantity....ko Quality... ni
The fact is ANDROID and APPLE IOS have equal number of Apps (700000) as at October 2012.
Most Apps in Andriod and Apple are written by the same programmers.
For average users, Apple ios has no advantage over Andriod os and vice versa.
how many apps do you think you can install in device?
Before you reply some posts you should first get your facts right.

First, the last apple event, apple announced that there are currently 750,000 apps in the app store. Sometime after that google announced that they've reached 700,000

Secondly, the fact that most apps are written by thesame programmer doesn't mean their quality or update cycles are thesame especially when you take into consideration the fragmentation (both in hardware and software) that android has. Moreover, the apple app store is so much more rewarding than that of android to developers so that its so common seeing developers releasing ios apps before making that of android.
It's also an open secret that in googles race to meet apple, they relaxed most restrictions so its easier to publish lower quality and malicious apps on google play.

Lastly, you cannot speak for the average consumer. IOS has alot of advantages over android just as android has some over iOS.
That my reply was to correct someones misconception and like I said, the difference may be quite minute for phones but its still very evident when looking at tablets. For the iPad you get so much more apps customized to make use of the extra screen space while on android tablets you get mainly stretched out phone apps.

jmaine: grin . . .The Lumia and WP8 combo defined innovation in simple terms; which is sure going to inspire and compel the competition to do more . . .

While they slug it out, we the consumers will be spoilt with great offerings from various sources
That's the whole point. Technologically, the mobile industry is about the fastest growing.
I told a fandroid sometime ago that the worst thing that can happen to consumers is android or apple taking about 100% of the market.
Some peeps should learn to live and let live.

jmaine: Bros, reviews of the WP8 has been awesome so far at the software level, build and elegance . .Only the Lumia 920 has weight issues a bit cheesy . . . .Microsoft took the sleekness and fluidity of the OS to another new level . . . .

I just love the kid's corner and the super sensitive touch screen of the Lumia WP8 family . . .

Just in case you need reviews . .A simple trip to engadget should do the trick . . . .

Bros free these people. It's been quite some time since there was a Nokia phone they couldn't bash. That's why none of them is willing to commit.

I guess the OP has become one fone mag. or tech. firm abi.
Ok let's say the op agrees with the article as do I. If you think otherwise, that's no problem cos it's your choice. But if you think we're wrong, then feel free to engage us.

OK why not start by telling me which phone you think is better so I tailor down my argument to that phone.
PhonesRe: Nokia Lumia 920: The Best by jedisco(m): 9:34am On Nov 02, 2012
4llerbuntu: Got that mixed up with the HTC J. which is a 720P phone.

but then, precisely what is the point/reason given in the article for the Lumia being the best?
The article was more of a synopsis just picking a standout feature on each.
If you still want reasons why its the best, then I can give that.
PhonesRe: RIM/BBM What-if-blackberry-messenger-had-gone-cross-platform by jedisco(m): 8:40am On Nov 02, 2012
I don't get this constant obsession about the failures of RIM on NL.
Are you peeps talking based on Nigeria or Europe?
I think we should face our own stuff here in Nigeria.
The fact still remains that BBs are still the fastest selling smartphones in Nigeria by a very very wide margin accounting for about 50% of total smartphone sales. No other smartphone comes near.

Finally, BBM is way way better than whatsapp and most chat services I've used. Most times, I get bored by whatsapp and simply close it once I put on my phone.

iphone has apps and games too but you cant
compare and apple market to google play....
I don't get you two but iOS has more apps (both in terms of quantity and quality) when being compared to android.
Though the difference is getting smaller by the day, its still quite significant when talking about tablets.

ciphoenix: Some of em, in terms of web browsing perhaps.
When I said 'holds it own', I don't mean better or worse. I mean that I don't consider any phone currently available now as 'next gen' when compared to the WP flagships. Yes there may be little pros and cons here and there but they certainly do not signify the next gen devices you were trying to make them look like.
PhonesRe: Nokia Unveils Lumia 510 For Emerging Markets by jedisco(m): 5:16pm On Oct 31, 2012
4llerbuntu: this is not true. WP of any nature does not run faster or smoother than any jellybean phone, custom or stock.

and of which before u start citing desire HD running gingerbread, WP 8 should be measured with the latest Android, not android released 2 years ago!

whosoever your reviewers are, well they are lying
I still don't get your cutoff for 'any'
Is it last year, this year or just the latest? But like I said, whatever category you choose, the current WPs still hold their own.
PhonesRe: Nokia Unveils Lumia 510 For Emerging Markets by jedisco(m): 4:31pm On Oct 31, 2012
ciphoenix: True, performance depends on optimization e.g for the One X, upgrading to JB puts it among top performers (even challenging the Optimus G). The sunspider benchmark only measures web browsing performance tho smiley
Yea I know. But when a dual core 1GB RAM device does much better than a quad core 2GB RAM device, then it leaves alot of questions unanswered. Thats why I said I'm more interested in the final output cos there are alot of ways to achieve thesame thing on a device.
PhonesRe: Nokia Unveils Lumia 510 For Emerging Markets by jedisco(m): 4:09pm On Oct 31, 2012
Like I've always said, there will always be newer CPUs and GPUs. Hope you know ARM has announced a new processor that should be 3x faster than the A15

I'm more interested in how the phone performs because it has been shown that even when two devices run thesame processor, they don't always yield thesame result especially when running different OSes. Optimization plays a big role just like I've shown above with the sunspider benchmark. The iPhone 5 even with a 1GHz processor (which can reach 1.3) and 1GB of RAM should out-perform your quad cores.

Moreso all the reviews of WP I've seen explicitly states that its faster and smother than your like androids. So you should get yourself off the pursuit of the fastest clocked processor and tell me how it performs in real life.

Lastly, I don't know since when a smartphone was equal to a processor which can easily be licensed and put in any device. The best WP smartphone which is the L920 is still the best phone now in my opinion and fully stands its ground against anything out there.
