booblacain: - A Nigerian man who works as a police officer in the U.S, has spoken out about his experience in Nigeria
- Identified as Olu, he recently came for the holidays and revealed that he has been stopped on several occasions by the police in Lagos
- Olu stated that he was profiled as a criminal due to the fact that he wears braids
The level of police brutality against innocent citizens remains a fundamental issue in the country. Several cases of people being arrested due to their looks or the cars they drive, have caused outrage on social media.
A Nigerian man identified as Olu who works as a police officer in Washington DC in the U.S, recently came down to Nigeria for the holiday. However, Olu revealed on Twitter that within his 4 days in Nigeria, he has been profiled as a criminal by the Nigerian police due to the fact that he wears his hair in braids.
He wrote: "4 days in Nigeria & I have already been profiled as a criminal by the Nigeria police force. They profile people based on looks. Male with dreads, braids and so on. I work for the Washington DC as a police officer and I have braids. Enough of the profiling! @TunjiDisu1 @aleeygiwa"

planetx: Why would you want to migrate to Canada except to just visit if you have this kind of money, that makes no sense. Ask victims of Evans that forked out more than what I'm seeing here (one paid more than $1m, right?) that question. Most of them have that kind of money. They must have felt proud to be in Nigeria when they were parting with such huge sums just to have their loved ones back. |

osifoblessingme: True..the power sector needs immediate attention now The state of emergency will do little more than grant some members of the same band of thieves (APC&PDP) oversight of the power sector, making them some more billions in the process. We don't need any stupid state of emergency. Just do the right thing. Let the funds appropriated get to the contractors as and when due. Empower TCN PMs and Consultants to oversee the contractors and follow their recommendations. They are the experts and, believe me,.they know the job. The political class are the same people frustrating the power sector. |

therajah: The way I see 'The Experience' concert- come and sing to God in His presence and let pple be blessed. Not to 'showcase' I agree....yet there's a reason these artistes are known to the point of being invited, and that is the songs they have written, performed and released. The songs are their identities, the reason they got that much recognition in the first place. A backup choir or praise team can sing anyone's song to bless the people, but Tope Alabi is invited because she is Tope Alabi, for instance, so she should get on stage and do her, not someone else. |

therajah: I understand you very well. If they sing the songs in cassettes then they cld acknowledge. But this is a concert. Its not for commercial purpose. Ah! It's even worse to sing another's song at a live concert. The purpose of concerts is to show the world you can sing your song well outside a studio environment. Can you imagine Davido singing Runtown's "Mad over you' at a live concert? |
Celebrities › Re: Asu Ekiye Calls Out Gospel Artistes At The Experience by Jeezuzpick(m): 9:21pm On Dec 08, 2019 |
therajah: It depends! Some gospel singers dont put copyrights on their songs. Doesn't matter! In Gospel, it's not just the music but the singer's character and life being showcased. When Panam Percy Paul wrote songs based on the legend Paul Simon's songs in "Graceland", I was surprised to see he wrote it clearly on the cassette label. Don Moen does the same, and pretty much everybody except these bloody thieves in Nigeria. |

What original song of Sammy's do you know?
"Wellu-wellu" belongs to DC Envoys (comedian Gordons was a member)
"Oruko Jesu" was a popular praise song written to the tune of Ras Kimono's "Ayagayagayagayo"
All these years, singing mostly other people's songs without giving credit will certainly lead to stuff like this. |
