I feel women can only get bolder because we are racing to embrace everything the West does at the detriment of our culture.

@debbydams, that's not entirely true. When you are married, sex is no longer fun but a responsibility. A man may not be in the mood. However, whenever his wife touches him in bed, he must do something. It's a two-way street.

At that point, most men begin to understand that they do all the work during sexual intercourse, while the woman watches like a log of wood and moan at the top of their voices.
And how are the women in the West living now? A good number of them are either divorcees or "spinsters for life". Na why dem dey fall "maga" to Yahoo boys. Their own men are avoiding them.

The same thing go still happen here. It's just a matter of time

Nawa o. So nobody for the church get mind to collect mic from the olodo?

These women are getting bolder. I shaa believe Newton's laws of motion: for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. As unbelievable as it may sound, this might be the last generation of simps. The next generation of men might evolve into frigid males who are not moved by women. I repeat that it may seem impossible, but who would believe several centuries ago that women would have equal as their male counterparts?

Maybe....this is what the Bible meant by the futuristic statement "In the last days....MEN shall become LOVERS OF THEMSELVES" grin

perambulator:

of what relevance is that? the guy resigned because he had issues with the US, Trump witheld support because he thought she wasnt US friendly. She got the job only after placating the US including sucking up to the US by getting US citizenship....what did she expect?

She isnt going to resign because she is a Nigerian and she knows WILL NOT get a higher job in public service. I repeat, it is as good as it gets for her!!!! It is the height of her career as a public servant and She has ruled herself out of any high office in Nigeria by taking American citizenship. Those who resigned have options in their country NOI doesnt!!!! If she leaves this job, she will NEVER enjoy the high profile she enjoys today. The best that can happen to her after this is some private sector board role. This is not like Christine lagaard leaving IMF to become ECB president. NOI has no higher public service career path ahead of her if she leaves this job. So as a typical Nigerian she knows that and IMHO she isnt resigning. No need for insults, I gave my opinion, you can state your opinion without insults.

NOI was entitled to American citizenship for many years but never took it up, she took it for this job with the implications and you think she will resign 7 months into the job? The same Ngozi that did not resign despite all the corruption in Jonathan's govt?.........get real!!!!

OBJ said it.... "she is a smart woman but she is weak" thats why whatever she achieved under OBJ, was undone under Jonathan who was a weak man but still she did not resign. Some people excel under a strong man, as deputies but cannot function as a leader. She always needs someone to fight her battles for her, its the same thing happening but she wont resign. i repeat it's all a bluff, or at best a cry for help. A woman who didnt have the conviction to resign as finance minister of one of the most kleptomaniac regimes in Nigerian history that could have potentially damaged her reputation as she "signed all the cheques" is not going to resign as DG WTO. If she does resign then you can rightly call me an idiot, until then I am right...like it or not!!! The man who resigned did so after 7 years not 7 months, he had 1 year left af his second term. Only a fool quits positions like in 7 months this or thinks they are there to save the world!!!.

If NOI leaves this job, you will probably never hear of her again....and thats a fact!!!!! Very few people can deal with that!!! Her problem is the weakness OBJ highlighted, this is the 1st time in her career she is the top dog, she has no one to fight her battles for her, her entire career she has always been the head of a unit, a deputy but not the OGA at the top, she always had a boss she could run to. It's like Osinbajo, some say he will make a good president because he has so far been a good VP. But being VP and being president are 2 different things. A Nigerian president IMHO needs a gangster mindset and Osinbajo hasnt got that. So It wouldnt surprise me if he was a disaster as a president.
Bros I never like comment before for this Nairaland, but as I see your own, I has to change status quo immediately. You're very spot on.

That one is a good deputy doesn't always mean that the person would also be a good leader if given the chance

Funny enough most of these people shouting **send her away*go for DNA test** are fucking people's wives and or people's husbands are fucking them.

Most of their kids does not even belongs to their house-bands.

The only ground I would advise the man to divorce his wife is...if their child does not belong to the man.but aside that...they should trash this infidelity issues out and settle their lacuna.
Sister no be open marriage solve the issue. People should go into marriage as if it is a business. Discuss the interests, terms and conditions wella. It is a partnership for God's sake. Treat it like one. Treat it like you'd treat a partnership business. Learn how to split bills and other responsibilities together. Don't dump all or most of the responsibilities on one party- that is parasitism. If both parties can invest equally in making a union work, I think it will be devastating to both of them if it fails.

But the problem is this...men like to impress. Them go dey carry all the burden like oluku, leaving only natural responsibilities such as childbirth to the woman. Shebi dem wan answer "real men"...their eyes go clear by fire by force. Dating and premarital relationships can be done on the basis of "love" and sexual attraction, but marriage is a business. It's just sad that people don't see marriage for what it truly is.

emae009:

Microsoft signed Nokia to the contract not the other way round. Microsoft wanted to enter the mobile phone industry, they had no hardware experience and no customer base (really expensive and time consuming to start from scratch). So they created just the software and look to sign a phone OEM to run the software. Nokia on the other hand had just finally admit defeat with the SymbianOS and having such a massive customer base at the time wanted to be the 3rd force in the market. The timing, profitability and other logistics was perfect for Microsoft and Nokia to come together.
Same thing when Google wanted to start making their own phone to run their own vision of clean android. If you remember Google Nexus was owned by Google but the phone was manufactured by Motorola and one of either Sony or HTC (can't really remember).
Coming to the duration of the contract, in Stock market and even FX trades, the baseline for judging a company's profitability is 5 years. If your 5 YoY is negative profit, then there's a problem. Because of this, rarely do business contract runs for less than 5 years and an exist clause before that usually attracts heavy penalty.
I had to read on the Nokia's deal with Microsoft before I'd mention you again. Truly, I was underinformed, and I think many people here are. Microsoft dragged them into the deal of using Windows on their phone, as Microsoft had already acquired the Nokia company. Nokia had little or no choice in the deal, and the then Nokia CEO was an American who wanted more "American influence" in the affairs of Nokia, which is originally a Finnish company. Maybe he thought that by doing so, the company would gain more popularity in America. It never did.

With these new facts, I think Microsoft was largely to blame for Nokia's decline. The phone company should have had some form of autonomy. That would have made room for flexibility, which is very important for business growth. It was a bit of misjudgement to acquire a business with the very intention of using their devices to test your innovations. And it backfired

The budding trend you are talking about here is the android market right? In a way you are correct. Even when they did introduce their own android phones it was too late because other brands had already grabbed hold of nearly all the customers. They tried catching up up but their pricing was way too high. Take a look at Tecno. They introduced cheap, affordable android phones into the African market and that has kept them in business.
That's the thing. Time: it waits for no man. Even if Nokia was on contract with Windows to use only the latter's software on its phones, at least the contract duration shouldn't be too long. Eventually if the market likes the phones with Windows, then Nokia can renew their contract with the company. Otherwise they can switch to the next trending software company without losing much time. I don't even want to ponder on the price factor. Most critics assert that Nokia phones are overpriced. They really miscalculated. No two ways about it

As an analyst you can't fault Nokia's decision at the time. Nokia position in the phone industry was massive. At the time Windows was developed, BlackBerry was on a decline, Android was coming up. With their customer base it was possible for them to open up the market to a 3rd OS, the mistake came from WindowsOS and not Nokia. Microsoft misjudged what the market really wanted and Nokia being under contract had no choice but to see it out.
The same misjudgement cost BlackBerry their place in the phone industry. It was never about having a 3rd choice in the OS market, it was all about apps availability and ease of share.
Microsoft signed Nokia to a contract to only run the Windows OS. So Nokia couldn't produce Android phones alongside Windows'. Samsung was also producing Windows phone but not on that same contract.
You can't possibly predict consumers' behavior with absolute certainty in such a competitive market. Like right now, why is Samsung not producing phones running HarmonyOS? Or Oppo or Techno. Can you tell me with 100 percentage certainty that they will regret the decision not to in 5 years time?? I'm sure you can't neither can I. But if it happens, you'll see people come up with articles like this.

I don't know what business you do but running family business is different from running a business where you answer to shareholders. You don't make decisions based on instincts. You have to do market survey, data analysis and trend prediction.
I understand better now. I must admit, some facts you stated here are new to me. That's impressive knowledge.

But my question is this, was it possible for Nokia to have signed a contract where they could also allow other softwares apart from Windows to run on their phones? Or even if the contract would only be with Windows and no other software company....why not make the duration of the contract short? Maybe 1 or 2 years? At least you get to see if the market would love Windows. Where this isn't the case, Nokia then switch sides without losing too much time.

Everybody saying Nokia made a mistake by choosing Windows over Android just because Windows never caught on. If Windows had succeeded, would y'all still maintain the same statement??
Nokia took a gamble with Windows something every company does. Nobody can accurately predict how the market will react in the future!. Something y'all always overlook is that it wasn't only Nokia that produced Windows phone, Samsung and one other were in too. Nokia only mistake was that they were the flagbearer so they couldn't pull out even it was obvious they should when others did. Windows failed because Microsoft didn't understand that the market doesn't really care about diversification and choices so they focused more on making Windows the 3rd choice instead of wooing developers to make sure apps are steadily available when they are out on other platforms. Something iOS is good at.
Nokia took a gamble which if it had paid off could have made them one of the top players in the market. It just didn't work out
But why choose "Windows" over "Android"...why even make a choice? Couldn't they run both at once? Imagine an arm of the company focusing on Windows while another majored on Android as early as possible. By now, Nokia would still have maintained its position. It's foolish to put all your eggs in one basket.

My parents taught me this lesson when I was learning from them to manage the family business. Right now, I don't mind importing what I've not seen in the Nigerian market before. If the resources are available, I buy. It doesn't also matter if I know how saleable the commodity is or not. If my mind just tell me it's going to be a hit based on its purpose, I buy it immediately. And if it happens to get to the shores of this country and I get the said commodity into the market, being the first importer to have such commodity in the market, I can fix any price to the commodity. It doesn't matter if it's thrice the cost price. People will buy it like that, since there's no other competitor who has this "new" commodity.

Nokia bleeped up. Their inability to cue into a budding trend cost them their place in the market
Romance / Re: Do You Still Remember "Nokia"? Here's How They Lost Everything. (pictures) by Jeferious: 5:24pm On Sep 06, 2021
Nokia played a bad game and it backfired. You just can't ignore the "Android" phenomenon like that, especially when the resources were probably available to create your own model of Android. There's no crime in copying your competitor's creative and marketable idea, so far as they aren't patented, and the trademark rules are respected.

They paid for their "elitism" and "arrogance/over-confidence"

As much as I agree with most of your assertions, marriage as an institution will be around for awhile..
There can be changes to it. Such as intermittent open marriage.. But its here to stay.

But as humans, our desire for security is bone marrow deep. Instantaneous security is wrought through marriage. Hence women clamour for it, no..... agitate vigorously for the status - - MRS..

Its a shame that some turn the "security" on its head into some form of control. Yes its good to be mutually accountable to one another.. But to be controlling... is frankly witchcraft

Despite the fact that Cohabitation has been given the same legality with financial access as marriage in some climes, you still find people willing to change age-old laws to enable access to marriage... That says there is something special about marriage.

.

You're right. Marriage will always be there, with some tweaks in order to accommodate modern realities. Or it may become extinct. Any which way.

Dem no dey argue this kind thing grin. Na future tense e be. Time will tell

It's about setting boundaries...

The minute your wife starts to disrespect your family... those boundaries are eroded.

Likewise the same applies to your family members. Everyone should be occupied with their livelihoods and stay on their lanes..

Na wen pokenose pokenose start and people stat 2 chook mouth in other people's business, mostly out of boredom or entitlement behaviour, problems start.

.
Oga, we all know that family system is very much valued in Africa to the extent that when a man marries a lady, it's said that two families are now married to each other. The problem with some marriages starts from the very "intial beginning"(sic). The lady knows very well that her man's family resent you and don't want her, yet she believed erroneously that "love conquers all" and that "it is their brother and son that I'm getting married to, not them". That marriage is on its way to collapse from the start. If the man's family doesn't want the lady, and she has made every geninue effort to present herself as a likeable and good person to no avail, then it's better she respects herself and move on. But desperation will not allow some of these ladies reason well.

On a more serious note, the marriage institution doesn't look like it will still exist in the next fifty years. There's something wrong with the human beings of this age. Maybe it's because of too much education and too much knowledge, as well as too much propensity to overturn age-long practices in the name of "wokeness" and the dire scarcity of loyalty and trust in ou time. The worst is that women are acquiring more "freedoms" than ever before, and the men are not comfortable with the new dawn of change. No two captains can sail a ship, so I perceive in the near future, the marriage institution will crumble and collapse. Others forms of relationship and commitments will take its place, for nature does not like a vacuum unfilled, and we are seeing some of those "less commitment" relationships today. I expect them to displace marriage

Maybe it's because female orgasm is far more achievable by stroking the clitoris with finger than by digging the vagina with pen!5, and most men are oblivious of this fact.
