cheesy and how does he recover so fast from gunshot and stab wounds? He is brutally interrogated but then gets up and walks away like say na massage dem give am.

There's a difference between that and AJ breaking into the White House and 'I didn't do it' escape. . . even as Jack Bauer as Jack Bauer is, he couldn't arrest that George Bush incarnate.
Personally I see no difference. What I honestly think is if Salt (female) had been Salter (male), we would not be having this discussion. Its because its a she, the fellas are having trouble taking her seriously as they would Jason Bourne or Bauer or Bond.

^well said. I guess the "degree of truth expected" is the issue but still . . . if the complaint is about the "unrealistic-ness" of a movie - it is not a legitimate complaint, because movies by definition are not realistic.

These same people will be screaming for joy when Jack Bauer goes 24hrs without taking a pee or poo or sleeping a second, or returning 10mins later from a gunshot wound, or appearing fresh minutes after a brutal interrogation session. Nothing on TV is "realistic" jor grin and rightfully so.

Don't even get me started on clueless palin supporters. My biggest hero on television is bill maher, and I agree with him when he said the average American voter is clueless. Majority of palin supporters font even know that palin supported the bail out. There are millions of clueless palin fans. That's why palin can talk rubbish and her base stands with her and if the media notices, it is called media attack. Compare that to obamas supporters who shout at him when he missteps. Before the midterm Obama was heckled in new York and in California By his supporters. He thinks he is being the nice guy. NO. You are seen as weak. That's why as POTUS he can call a meeting of republicans and they snub him, claiming to be busy. That's why republicans can stand on a nuclear treaty with Russia and refuse to budge. Weak. That's why he will be a one term president.
Clueless people abound everywhere Prez. And please, get a new hero - not a senile old hag so caught up in the severe delusion of his own self-ascribed intelligence. One who sees nothing good in anyone or anything who does not worship on the same altar of secularism he does. He chants America is dumb, he needs to look no further than 1 inch outside his balding head to see the prime example of what happens when common sense takes a leave of absense. I used to like him a lot - until the screws obviously came loose.

A leader should be a good negotiator. Negotiation is about give and take. I give this, you give that. That's why the liberals were angry with the healthcare bill. He should have started with single payer British style, then when push comes to shove, he'll end up with public option for some republican votes or blue dog democrat votes, but he gave up that and went straight to public option, and ended up with no public option and no republican vote. Now he wants to negotiate with republicans( good luck with that) and even before the meeting, with people who snubbed his invitation two weeks ago, he has given up a negotiation point. What nonsense? Is this how he negotiates internationally with thickheads like Russia?
If your complaint is he is not a good enough negotiator - that's fine. But it'll be really nice to see you applaud a good move regardless of whether it was accomplished thru push and shove or complete surrender. Obama had ideas for HC that the American people did not want - period and being a "good negotiator" in that instance would not have indicated he was a better leader. You listen to your people, explain your ideas (there he failed) and then make a decision. Not simply impose your own self-annointed "superior" ideas on an entire nation, and then corner them into bending to your will. Nobody said being a president would be easy - so I don't feel sorry for the tough choices and decisions he has.

As for his base, he made promises, he asked we taKe him at his word, the least we can do is expect him to at least make an attempt to fulfill his promises, even if he doesn't succeed. These are what he campaigned on. Just like the tea party is out for tax cut and repealing healthcare which they campaigned on. How can his base trust him again. I noticed dear pelosi did not make any statement after the meeting. I hope I read her well. Somebody has got to stop Obama from becoming a republican.
Here I agree you have legitimate beef and reason to be upset. We expect (against better judgement and history) our politicians to actually live up to their campaign chant-lines. But the truth is (and Tayo tried to point this out) that many of his promises were very ambitious, some outlandish from the get-go. I mean see the vision the woman in that video had of what Obama was going to do for her. If all you're saying is you'd like him to simply try harder - that's fine.

However, I believe of these great expectations his supporters have for him, most will go unattained. There is no skeleton key that will turn the locks on America's conservative-centrism and make America a liberal paradise. Perhaps the wise move is to simply lower your expectations - and considerably so.

Sorry for my spotted appearances all. Disposable time is becoming less and less disposable these days smiley.

@the revelation of Joe's artistic enterprise -
I am happy something positive and relatively unrelated to religion is coming out of this thread. And that people are seeing another side of Joagbaje.

@Joagbaje, to summarize your last post - you believe:

- the church should not discriminate in politics - it should have respect for rulers and the door is open to all who want to give regardless
- however for gifts given to pastors - they should use their discernment and the Spirit to distinguish between what gifts to accept or not
- people should trust their pastors when he asks them to give for whatever reason

Okay let us move on . . . to possibly the most controversial of issues in this section - Tithes.

Q1: Most of us know where you stand on tithes, but can you briefly summarize for the record?

Q2: What do you have to say directly to those who believe tithing is optional? and not a requirement for NT christians? Do you see any merit to their arguments against required tithing?

Q3: If you believe in tithing, is it okay for a believer to tithe in other churches? in other non-profit organizations such as orphanages, food banks etc

Q4: On what is the tithe supposed to be spent/used on? the leadership? the staff? the church members? the church property?

Thanks!

@ pres. Please try to think with common sense instead of ideology some times. Millions of Americans are losing jobs in d private sector, yet payment packages for federal workers only ever seem to rise. While everyone else is tightening their belt, laying off workers and closing operations. D federal government just keeps doling it out. This federal pay freeze is long overdue and it makes sense. If a leader doing what is best for the state of a depleted treasury, is being chicken, long may it continue.
My brother please help me tell him jare. And amen to the last part.

Prez,
I will defend Obama when I feel he's making a good move. Making a reasonable concession does not equal weakness in my opinion. Obama is president to the entire country - not just his "base". What kind of president will that be whose decision-making is driven solely out of selfish political interest to appease and remain in good standing with his "base"?
Foreign AffairsRe: Obama Is A Weak Chicken by JeSoul(f): 7:26pm On Nov 30, 2010
Dude, stop talking about my president like that angry While he may be weak in certain aspects, he is certainly not a chicken cool

@topic, look prez, the hallmark of a truly democratic society is not one where one party system or ideaology reigns supreme and doesn't entertain outside thought or dissent - but rather a healthy, balanced diet of both common-sense conservative and liberal ideas.

I am happy Obama wants to talk to republican leaders. What do you want him to do? sit in the white house, pout his lips and whine? or rather engage and yes - make concessions because he does not have all the right answers. Nothing will ever get done if both sides do not compromise. Republicans will sabotage any democratic bills in the house - Democrats will return the favor in the Senate. Who really loses? we the people. Please leave Obama to the slurpee summit - this has the makings of possibly returning the spoilt brats on Capitol hill back to the same table to work out their issues - if not by choice, then by force of the current split btw house/senate.
SportsRe: NBA Season 2010/11 by JeSoul(f): 6:34pm On Nov 30, 2010
I forgot to add Tim Duncan:

KG vs. Duncan
1140 - games played - 993
50% - Shooting - 50%
28% - 3Pt% - 18%
78% - FT -  68%
10.8 - RPG - 11.6
4.2 - Assists - 3.2
1.4 - Steals -  0.8
1.6 - Blocks - 2.3
2.4 - Turn overs - 2.7

How can A-40 say its a crime to compare KG to Malone or Duncan when he is statistically equal or superior to both? With Malone self wey no even get ring? grin
SportsRe: NBA Season 2010/11 by JeSoul(f): 6:28pm On Nov 30, 2010
Since A-40 likes stats - bolded is the player who wins the category:
KG vs. Dirk vs. Malone

1140 - games played - 937   -  1476
50% - Shooting - 47% - 51%
28% - 3Pt% - 38% - 27%
78% - FT - 87% - 74%
10.8 - RPG - 8.5 - 10.1
4.2 - Assists - 2.7 - 3.6
1.4 - Steals - 0.9 - 1.4
1.6 - Blocks - 1.0 - 0.7
2.4 - Turn overs - 1.9 - 3.0

Looks to me that statistically speaking - its a 3way tie. And keeping in mind KG's over the hill, if we took just his prime numbers . . . and also Malone is his entire career. Dirk still has his down-turn to go. So going by the above I don't think you can say for a moment KG is not right up there with Malone and Dirk. Not to mention the intangibles of being able to inspire an entire team like KG can. 40 boy, Watch yaself oh!  grin

^Thanks Jo for sticking with us so far smiley

Joagbaje:
@Jesoul
That's a difficult question,it's a spiritual one that no one can answer. I only know the pastor I'm submitted to. And if you ask me , I will tell you he's the greatest bible teacher of our generation.

I don't have answer to that .He is an apostle to the body of christ today.several ministers all over the world listens to him. I only know from his messages of ministers that has inspired him. Like T.L OSBORNE and KENNETH E. HAGIN . Many of them have passed on into glory now. It's a new generation.

Different churches have their structures. But the bible says after the apostles, others come in.

1 Corinthians 12:28
28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
Me I get one or two questions for here but I'll let PastorAIO direct the line of questioning on this part.

The next issue was going to be ____ but it looks like we're naturally heading towards the issue of gifts/money/finance so lets stick with that . . .

You must have misunderstood me. We judge according to truth by the word and not by feelings. If an action is clearly contrary to the word, the word has judged it already. But when we begin to read our own meanings into another person's action and doing guess work into his motive, it's a sin. Except by gift of discernment. For example a man holds a large crusade and someone says, he held the large crusade to make big money. That's my point . We have no right to think that way. But we condemn actions that the Word condemns. And we still submit to the Word in handling it.
Okay thanks for clarifying that.
Q1: A year or two ago, a friend of mine came back from a Benny Hinn Crusade. She was complaining about how the entire 'service' was about raising money to be able to pay for the use of the venue. If a preacher always seems to be emphasizing on money - are people wrong for concluduing that such a person is not true ministers of the gospel? Especially as the bible warns us many will pervert the gospel for financial gain.

The church has it's judicial system. It come from head down and not from down up. The elders judge members and not the members judge the elders. And God is against the church embarrassing itself by washing dirty linen before the world. There is judicial structure within the body.

1 Corinthians 6:1-5
1 Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints? 2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? 3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? 4 If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church. 5 I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?
On many levels you make good points - we have sort of gone over this part so I won't make you make you a victim of redundancy.

I'm talking about brethren giving to their pastors. This is scriptural . Jesus collected from members, paul did also.
Just a small observation - I think sometimes the way you phrase your responses is what draws the ire of many. When you say Jesus and Paul "collected" from members . . . it just sounds . . .  undecided - though I think I understand what you may be saying . . .
Q2: but do you care to show some verses in scripture to support this? thanks.

But a politician coming to give to a pastor, sound strange. And suspicious. Is he born again? What's the intention? . A pastors dealing with such people is to get them saved and not to collect from them.

But there is difference between giving to the pastor and giving to God. Anybody can give in a church to God. The church money doesn't belong to the pastor. It belongs to God , the pastors is only a steward. He has no right to turn anyone back who wants to give to God. But if it's a personal gift , then he has to use discernment and discretion. It's not everything a man of God collects. Abraham turned down the gifts of king of Sodom .
Q3: Would you say that if a known corrupt person wants to give to the church, the pastor should not turn down his gift?

Christianity EtcRe: Interview With Joagbaje - His Perspective On Christianity by JeSoul(op): 3:54pm On Nov 29, 2010
Hello people, sorry for the break in transmission.

Pastor AIO:
@Jesoul, Abeg my sister, helep me to ask the interviewee who is at the top of the pyramid structure of pastors in the world today. That and who is the pastor that is above Chris Oyakhilome. I would also like to know who the penultimate pastors are, ie those that are immediately below the top pastor. Tenk q.
Oya Joagbaje over to you  smiley please respond to PAIO's question here.

Joagbaje:
We can't judge a man's intentions or motive , we live that to God. How do we know that the motive for the gift is to please him?. You don't give to an anointed man by the flesh. You sow into his life by the spirit . Recognising the anointing upon his life which, will be a blessing to you. It's a spiritual law to give to men of God.

Galatians 6:6-9
6 Let him that is taught in the word communicate (give) unto him that teacheth in all good things. 7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.  9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Matthew 10:41 41 He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward;

He should accept the gift for their blessing . Except the spirit of God tells him otherwise.
I intended to move on from this line of discourse but I feel I need to press you further . . .

Q1: You've made mention to 'motives' several times now over the interview - that since we cannot judge a person's motives we should leave it be or cease from critisizing them. If it were all about "not knowing a man's motives" then why would the scriptures tell us to "test the spirits"? and reject/expose what is not of God, instead of simply folding your hands and saying "well I don't know their heart so I can't judge".

Q2: In relation to 'jugding', the recommendations of Paul below are pretty stern. Under what circumstances would you say it is okay to "jugde" a brother/sister?
1Cor 5:9 I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— 10 not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. 11 But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people.

12 What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? 13 God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked person from among you.”

Q3: You say a pastor should accept all gifts unless the Spirit tells him otherwise. Will it be okay for a pastor to accept gifts/money from known or suspected corrupt leaders/politicians etc if the 'Spirit' doesn't tell him otherwise? Should not the pastor also use his own discernment of what's right/wrong appropriate/inappropriate?
Thanks!

Christianity EtcRe: Interview With Joagbaje - His Perspective On Christianity by JeSoul(op): 10:18pm On Nov 25, 2010
Hi all, I apologize preemptively if over the next few days I am not around to advance the interview in a timely fashion. Anyways . . . Joagbaje, thanks for your last response and especially for clarifying the quotes. To summarize your stance on church structure and leadership-flock relationship -

Summary on the issue of Church structure and Church relational dynamics
-there are various structures of church government - but you believe the pastoral one is the only biblical one as God does not lead thru many but one. In short, the pastor should be the only head of the physical church on earth, with other officers beneath him.

-a pastor should be involved in every aspect/sphere of a believer's life. A real pastor will lead people to Christ not himself, and a pastor who doesn't do this isn't necessarily false, just needs better training.

-women can hold any office that men hold in the church

One last question and we shall move on to a very controversial quote you've made on NL in the past.
Joagbaje:
That is carnal for them to do. It's only in a place where the word has not gained ascendancy that such thing will prevail.  It's not the pastor that initiate such things most time but the brethren.  No one send them.  If a pastor is not careful and disciplined enough , some church members can turn him into another thing. Sycophants.
You believe its not the pastor's fault, but do you believe that this 'pastor-worship' phenomenon is widespread today? Do you see members of the church where you go to fall to this error? What should be the pastors response to members of the church who idolize him? furthermore should he accept lavish gifts and spending from those who do this to please him?
