agabaI23:There have been countless topics on Arik air in this section - most of them very very negative. You may want to read some of the topics from the link below. http://www.google.com.ng/cse?cx=partner-pub-6465801557104924%3Abko28ysgdng&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=arik+air&sa=Search&siteurl=www.nairaland.com%2Fnigeria%2Ftopic-298770.0.html%23bot |
Dantecmu:While there may be some very small minority of green-card marriages that are truly based on love, the fact is the overwhelming majority of arranged marriages leave the foreign women, and the resulting children at the losing end of the stick. I think its very rare to see any man crying over his arrangee wife that he loves her and she's treating him bad - very rare. |
leahsarahk:This is touching. And the behavior of the 'church' is despicable and disgusting. I'm sorry for all the pain you and your son have had to endure leah. Just be comforted by the fact that we all reap what we sow. Please dissociate yourself from people and so-called churches like these that claim to be christians but by their actions prove they are evil. I wish you all the best dear. |
Where are all the Laker fans? in hiding? in hibernation? The defending Chumps are stinking up the Staples center with their uninspired play. I think dem don chop belleful. 3 finals and 2 rings = no desire.Current Standings as of Jan 3rd 2011:

^is it because I didn't put Norbit on there? my bad brother. Let me fix it: -Pretty Woman -300 -Forrest Gump -Norbit please accept my heartfelt apologies on leaving it out at first Happy new year to you my dear. I hope 2011 is full of dreams coming true for you and yours. Amen! |
My peoples, sorry for not being around oh . . . A belated Merry Christmas to all you wonderful fellas and ladies .All engines are firing off now in Miami lol. A far cry from the early season woes. I still think they lack the depth necessary to beat the top teams in a playoff series, we'll see. As for my old Celtics, kai. Injury after injury. Its our depth that is saving us this season, or else we woulda had a much much worse record. And I hope people are seeing what a force KG is on the boards . . . our rebounding has suffered since he went down and opposing teams are having a field day scoring in the paint. But we shall overcome ![]() Hmmm . . . Los Mavs. I'm not sure whether to buy into the hype just yet. I need to see more. And how do the Spurs have the best record in the NBA? I'm still not quite sure but we would be foolish to ignore them like we are. Spurs vs Celtics tomorrow. Should be a good game. I expect Duncan to have a good game cos he won't have much competition in the paint with KG out. |
justkunmi:Why am I not suprised? ![]() vescucci:Haha T-virus. And yup, that's a raw kidney. Just the way Eldee likes it. V3, you should try it too. I hear its good. Take the lemon slice and squeeze it over the meat, they say it enhances the flavor. Vieira:That's what we all do brother. 300 - 2 yays Pretty woman - 1 yay |
Happy New Year to all religion section members and my friends. I pray 2011 brings you all satisfaction and peace. |
Sweetnecta:SN, thank you very much. I really appreciate the response. divinereal:Thanks for the reply. There is a lot of legitimacy to your beef with religion. I just want to comment that on the issue of morality, it is often premature to make conclusive statements because what qualifies as moral/immoral fluctuates based on culture, time, perspective and circumstance. Vedaxcool, very nice comeback/reply on the topic (but you're too emotional on it though). On a normal day(when I'm not feeling lazy to type long-ers) I would take you up so I'll let Divinereal respond. |
divinereal:Divine, do you think religion itself is the problem? or rather the people practising the religion? Sweetnecta:Might I ask just one question SN, and please try to be as direct and concise as possible in ur response: Do you believe in the ideology that Islam (along with its beliefs and laws and systems) should spread, and be enforced all across the world as the one true religion? and that this is indeed the goal of Islam and its founder and followers? Thanks. |
eldee:I have just the thing for you . . . https://images1.cliqueclack.com/tv/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/zimmern_ss_halloween_007.jpg Some kind of rodent, south american delicacy. I am sure you will enjoy this same dish for 1 week straight. No? V3, happy newers. I've supplied my list now, pick one from this three. I'll make the final call in a day or two. -Pretty Woman -300 -Forrest Gump |
^^ lol. So you agree you cannot complain right? Kai, you don spoil finish. You chop free movie, then on top free dinner because you didn't like the free movie. Its like going to a free concert, not liking the music, and then asking your ticket refund and an extra coupon for free snacks as compensation for your suffering thru a free concert . . . spoilt boy ![]() Oya pick one movie from the list jare. |
wow. Awesome discussion fellas. Very edifying to me personally just reading. So many brilliant points. Thank you both for your input. Birdman's quote here is on point: birdman:This I think, is at the crux of the entire matter. |
My choice of movies up for review next . . . -Pretty Woman -300 -Forrest Gump so make ur choice people. |
Felice anno nuovo fellas. I wish you all whatever it is you wish for this year. And I tell una say I no go dey online for a bit and someone else can go ahead . . . and Obinna and JK were still asking for my choice eldee: and you have the guts to open your FM32 and complain? ![]() |
and oh, this is also a very solid point too: Terrorism, they argue, is rooted in poverty, frustration over the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and memories of western imperialism. In other words, so the argument goes, the West itself is to blame for terrorism. If only the West would apologize, make reparations, abandon Israel, leave the Middle East and Afghanistan, all would be well. Or at least that's where the root-cause crowd's assumptions logically lead.Squarely on the head. |
Interesting article. A part of me wants to say the author is biased in some ways, another part of me quickly reminds of recent historical events and patterns. I really liked this quote though: Voegelin argued that some people -- politicians, intellectuals, journalists, for example -- prefer to see the world as a projection of their desires rather than comprehend its reality. Such fabulists effectively live in what Voegelin called a "second-order reality."Very true and very deep. One of the major problems in partisan politics in much of the West today. |
^Thank you oh my dear ![]() I have been on a break of sorts - running on 4 days. I figured I'd check in and not leave all the load on MMW . How you dey now? how was Christmas? I wish you a fantastic new year ahead, full of joy and contentment. Amen oh ![]() |

^my brother, I just dey salute you oh Question. Is kissing always and under all circumstances, pre-intimacy? |
^na wa oh. See dissertation lol. |
Katsumoto:no, not what I meant. I meant of massachusetts reps, not many were in favor of the state HC bill. Sorry if I wasn't clear. We know that a significant majority of Republicans opposed the Healthcare Bill which is why the hypocrite Romney forgot the plan was a copy of his own state Bill and decided to join the republican bandwagon in condemning it.No objection your honor ![]() |
^lol. Ayatollah Ikomi, you have conneckshions now you can simply wave your right hand and that car will be in my driveway before you can say ahmadinejad. Okay, if you no wan do it for me, do it for our brother TayoD ![]() |
Katsumoto:Now you're talking. And sorry if I'm harping on semantics - I just wanted to stress that alternatives were infact presented. If you don't believe in their viability (or that it was in respect to the whole bill or parts), that's another story for another economist (not that I am one). Obviously, the authors of the different plans (there were several you know, some not from the repubs) think otherwise about what it would do to the deficit. Ditto to the stimulus and bailouts. Even the green party was touting their own alternatives then. Also interesting is how republicans including Mitt Romney opposed the healthcare bill which is very similar to the Massachusetts Bill signed by Romney. Romney is one of the republicans calling for the healthcare bill to be repealed. You're right about Romney - but again, Romney does not constitute all republicans - and to the best of my knowledge - and as a massachusetts resident, republicans here were against it. This is one reason why I think Romney will have a very hard time trying to run for president. The mass healthcare system is in the financial toilet. Point - most Republicans will oppose any idea from Obama even if it is one he borrowed from them. This statement becomes thoroughly true - I think - with that small additional word from me. I just heard republican Senator Scott Brown from mass praising Obama to the high heavens for the recent bill, few days ago on local radio - generalizations I think are a bit of an issue here. With regards to your point about levels of ignorance in the US, we shall agree to disagree.Agreed. Here we go, something we can finally shake hands on ![]() As a side note, just want to say merry christmas to you all, esp my good friends and banter partners of all political sides. Hope you all have a fantastic holiday. We go jam next week. |
montelik:Exactly. And we are all guilty of this. We watch 5 mins of something on youtube, a 10 second highlight on CNN, a soundbite on fox and we subsequently go on to characterize and stereotype an entire group of people by that. I know what I see in the media is false because I know people who choose to label themselves as dems/reps/libs/conservs and for the most part - they are nothing like what the media tries to tell us they are. |
I hate it when people, including Jon Stewart and Jesoul, whom I love(not that kind of love o) make this false comparison btw msnbc and fox. Msnbc is political, they exaggerate facts to suit them whereas fox news tells outright lies over and over again. How about the 200 or so ships to take Obama to India or the 200billion dollars or so that the India trip will cost. Jesoul I showed you a clip from YouTube where fox deliberately decieved their viewers that Obama said he will raise taxes for everybody. Or the clip from one of those silly marches in DC where hannity used a different video to claim large turnout. He apologized after Jon Stewart called him out. Msnbc may exaggerate facts to suit them but I challenge you to show me one outright lie by Rachel maddow or Keith. Now you will say a lot of things but one thing I know you won't do is present an outright lie by Rachel or Keith. Lol.
Prez we have been down this road before, so no need to resurrect and beat down dead horses. |
Katsumoto:I don't believe that point has really been under debate. I conceded from the get-go that there is certainly a shady percentage of the populace who's beef is illegitimate - for whatever reason, be it racism or misinformation. The bone of contention has been - whether or not this constitutes a majority - to which I have said it doesn't. It is easy for anyone to criticise. I have supplied data which supports my position. You are yet to do that. So far, what we have from you is opinion and conjecture.Whether you 'supplied data' Katsumoto is a matter of opinion. I don't consider floating websites with studies from colleges with pdf links that don't work - reliable. Also, I am yet to hear from you or any other Republican alternative solutions to the recession which officially ended in 2009 and the current stale growth in the US economy. It is time for republicans to start making credible suggestions instead of just criticising Obama. Republicans criticisedI believe I already answered this in my last post? You are trying to insinuate that there were absolutely no - zero - nada - zilch alternatives to the economic route Obama took, seriously? It would be better if you simply said you don't believe the republican or tea party or green party alternatives would've been better than Obama's approah. But to say no alternatives were suggested? seriously? Just a quick google search yields these highlights I remember from last yr - Stimulus: http://www.google.com/search?source=ig&hl=en&rlz=1G1GGLQ_ENUS317&q=alternatives+to+stimulus+bill&aq=1&oq= GOP suggests alternatives to stimulus: http://articles.cnn.com/2009-02-02/politics/stimulus_1_gop-senators-tax-cuts-stimulus-plan?_s=PM:POLITICS Bail-out: (which were both against Bush's and Obama's by the way) http://www.google.com/search?q=alternatives+to+bail-out&source=ig&hl=en&rlz=1G1GGLQ_ENUS317&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai= Whether or not you diagree with them or find them viable is not the point - but that alternatives were infact suggested as you've denied. This is why I said the penchant for Obama's supporters to constantly alledge opponents never suggest anything is flat out wrong. Anyways I don't want this to turn into who can post more links or data or whatever. That's not really the point. I was just trying to counter your assertion that Americans are by and large ignorant - a point I firmly and ferociously disagree with. |
JK. Sin comentarios. @Topic, I don't want to pick a movie now cos my presence online is going to be skanty over the next few days. So I give my turn to Eldee or Doyin. I can go after them. Meanwhile Merry Christmas to all my good friends in here. I hope you all have a fantastic one this year. |
JeSoul, the top 5 Democrat contenders for the next election cycle are not as formidable as the 3 in the top tier of their 2008 cycle - Obama, Clinton and Biden.
Who are they in your opinion? the top contenders? Obama is certainly getting the re-nomination. Biden may be on the chopping block though . . . . . . Clinton already said she is not in it again. Who else can do it?And you believe her? ![]() |
Ah Ikomi, na your ride be dat? you no tell us say you be big man reach this. Abeg whenever you get tired of it, I accept second hand of this quality ![]() |
Katsumoto, I want to believe it was a slip of the fingers (or maybe Negro borrowed you a bottle of his stash ) when you posted that as "proof" of the "ignorance" of "americans" or is it "fox-news watchers". Surely a slip of the fingers.First of all, your own link states that in their "poll" CNN and MSNBC 'viewers' did not fare much better - you conveniently left that part out. Is Fox corrupt? yes. Is practically every other media outlet in America equally if not more corrupt? a resounding yes. What you've only shown is there is a problem with information dissemination in the media - a problem most certainly and definitely not isolated to only fox. But I don't want to lend any credibility to this "poll". I tried to look at the pdf (it wasn't loading) to see what n= to. How many people in the study? who was sampled? what was the demographic? when was it conducted? how was it ascertained who was really a "fox" or CNN watcher? being a university poll (unreliable by itself) quickly suggests it was probably done on a college campus. And it is popular knowledge a significant chunk of college campuses (esp those in the NorthEast) are left-leaning and therefore polls resulting from their people will be biased in that direction. And oh, btw, I originally said "Americans are not ignorant" this is different from being "well-informed" (as you said I said). I can conduct my own NL poll right now and show you Obama's supporters like eating Eba and Egusi, and his non-supporters also like eating Eba and Egusi . . . afterall, I'll be sampling from the same group who happen to share the same "shortcomings". Katsumoto, stop it oh! ![]() |
Ochiagha, from your own post:
What is Democratic ideology and what is Republican ideology? I cannot even tell the difference now.

But after thinking about it, I do not subscribe to the conservative ideology, because I have a heart.
Think about the above for a second, perhaps you may see a disconnect. The more I know and learn, the more I feel the constituents side of politics is mired in gross misunderstanding of what their perceived 'rivals' or 'enemies' really believe. For the most part - we all want a better America - what we disagree on is how to get there. And its too bad the party leadership has over time convinced the followers the other side is "evil" and "wrong". I am mostly conservative, and going by your stated belief - I apparently do not have a heart. |
