I have not flown this airline but I am gonna give it a try next time I travel home.
A friend here told me their ticket to naija goes for as low as £460 from London.

I still do not get the reason why BA and VAA will be chaging us the same amount as those who travel to Australia, a 24 hour flight.

We are better of flying Arik at least the money remains in Naija cool assuming the services are as good as they are said to be.

Have you tried Arik before? tell us your experience!

NB: I do not work for Arik grin
There have been countless topics on Arik air in this section - most of them very very negative. You may want to read some of the topics from the link below.

@ House for every woman who have come here to share there experience befour we all conclude there are always 2sides to the coin and until i listen to the other side of the coin i draw no conclusion,

Its easy to listen to one side and feel pity i know people who have been married in the US for 30yrs and it all started as arrengeee so, so sometimes the women involved contributed to there woess given a man his green card or citizenship and then giving him hell in return , just an assumption i know people who married for real and while they where waiting for there residency they where treated like poo i see them cry everyday saying , does she really know i love her, and when it becomes unbearable they wait to get there papers and they move ahead , be four we condemn this men or women please house listen to there own side of the story,

ciao
While there may be some very small minority of green-card marriages that are truly based on love, the fact is the overwhelming majority of arranged marriages leave the foreign women, and the resulting children at the losing end of the stick. I think its very rare to see any man crying over his arrangee wife that he loves her and she's treating him bad - very rare.

I have been attending the Redeemed Christian church for quite some time. I married a man who is a member of thier church. This man used me for citizenship and he is high ranking member of this church in Malaysia and a member of the church, for 18 yrs in Nigeria. I supported him financially for 4 years, Sponsored him to Canada ,loved him and gave him a son. He left me a couple weeks after he gained his citizenship. This has been after 5 years of marriage and being a devoted wife to him. The church has assisted him to leave me and encouraged him to abandon me and our son. They are gossipers and mean hearted people. I have called both pastors for help in reconciling our marriage. They offered me no prayer or any kind of support what so ever. Even some of the other members in the church who did not like what my husband did to me spoke out and tired to support me and the pastor came down hard on them and discouraged them from doing so. I have been reliably informed that the pastor is arranging a new wife for me husband even though I am still legally married to him and still a member of the Redeemed Christian church. I am aware that not all churches are like this, but unfortunately the Redeemed Christian church function like a cult, but no offence intended. Finacially this church are taking advantage of us and they bought a building they can not afford and are now borrowing all the members money to pay for the down payment. They say by God's grace they will pay it back. This will be impossible for them to pay back as they dont have the means to pay it back. I was at church the church recently and was instructed to dance by a basket placed on the alter and give money if I want to worship with them the pastor centered me out and insisted that I must dance by this basket if I
want to worship with them.
This is touching. And the behavior of the 'church' is despicable and disgusting. I'm sorry for all the pain you and your son have had to endure leah. Just be comforted by the fact that we all reap what we sow. Please dissociate yourself from people and so-called churches like these that claim to be christians but by their actions prove they are evil. I wish you all the best dear.

My peoples, sorry for not being around oh . . .

A belated Merry Christmas to all you wonderful fellas and ladies kiss I hope it was a splendid time with family and friends, complete with korrect gifts smiley.

All engines are firing off now in Miami lol. A far cry from the early season woes. I still think they lack the depth necessary to beat the top teams in a playoff series, we'll see.

As for my old Celtics, kai. Injury after injury. Its our depth that is saving us this season, or else we woulda had a much much worse record. And I hope people are seeing what a force KG is on the boards . . . our rebounding has suffered since he went down and opposing teams are having a field day scoring in the paint. But we shall overcome smiley

Hmmm . . . Los Mavs. I'm not sure whether to buy into the hype just yet. I need to see more. And how do the Spurs have the best record in the NBA? I'm still not quite sure but we would be foolish to ignore them like we are. Spurs vs Celtics tomorrow. Should be a good game. I expect Duncan to have a good game cos he won't have much competition in the paint with KG out.

@JeSoul; « #5 on: Yesterday at 08:05:35 PM »It is not the intention or the goal of God Almighty Who created and chose Islam for mankind that it should spread, and be enforced all across the world. If it is Allah would not have given man free will and states that no compulsion in religion. He would not have told us that hell fire is the place for disbelievers, which must mean, coupled with the free will people make their own decision to be disbelievers being fuel for hell. Allah says if He had willed, He could have made all persons of the nation of Islam, being believers. But that is not His Will because some might have said they were forced to belief, instead of entering the path of guidance willingly. I will not force anybody. Muhammad (AS) didnt force anyone. And to be dominant even per head count does not mean 100% of the world population. While Muhammad was alive there were disbelievers in Arabia. So there. And you remember the saying; one with God is a majority? That weakens the head count part. And Allah says that most mankind are disbelievers, anyway. Most is more than 50% you will agree.
SN, thank you very much. I really appreciate the response.

Divine, do you think religion itself is the problem? or rather the people practicing the religion

Per your question above: I am yet to study a religious doctrine/system that is not morally flawed. When looking at my analysis of a religion I focus on the doctrine/dogma, holy book of a said religion and customary practice by its adherents. None of the Abrahamic faiths denounced slavery or believed in the true equality of human beings. There are genocidal acts in the Koran and Torah. The very concept of praying for forgiveness to "God" for harm caused on others, society is very immoral in itself and lacks accountability.
On another note, all religions are not equal in bigotry, moral bankruptcy, divisiveness and proclivity for violence. They are as varied and diverse as sport; some extremely violent like boxing, while others more benign like golf.
Thanks for the reply. There is a lot of legitimacy to your beef with religion. I just want to comment that on the issue of morality, it is often premature to make conclusive statements because what qualifies as moral/immoral fluctuates based on culture, time, perspective and circumstance.

Vedaxcool,

Yes indeed, poignant and thought provoking article. In todays world no ideology, religion or dogma is recluse from getting vetted and scrutinized. I am all for the dialogue and discourse on all aspects of human existence. Africans/Nigerians must open their eyes and minds and bring them into the 21st century especially as it pertains to religion and culture. We cannot base our morality and spirituality on bronze age middle eastern myths. grin
Divine, do you think religion itself is the problem? or rather the people practising the religion?

Sweetnecta:
while I dont see a separation of Mosque and Politics, since Islam is a religion that never leaves a muslim in all his/her dealings, affairs, Islam itself is there political. The Mosque was the center of all islamic affairs during the lifetime of the Messenger (AS), the person who was the embodiment of the religion.

There is nothing wrong in being conscientious Islamist, realizing the responsibility that comes with being a muslim; obeying the Laws of God, being responsible to Him alone, which entails your deep love and painstaking attention to preservation of His creation.

Allah says in the Quran that those who get the best meaning of the verse of Quran when they hear it are those who are endowed with wisdom, knowledge. People for the most part have turned islam over its head, choosing instead their own evil agenda and coloring it with the cloak of Islam. A man who is a sadist is the one that will not see how Prophet Job (AS) was told to deal with his wife in the Quran, instead will result into picking up a cable wire to beat her "lightly". Same type of ignorance will not make a parent send a child to receive secular education along with Quranic education, when Allah says in the Quran that exploration and research of 'nature' make a person know who his Lord is. It is the same type of mentality will drag a person to commit murder, even suicide when God Almighty stated that preservation of life is a preferred alternative to killing.

The bold speaks more directly to those who say they are "Gods/gods, God's chosen people and or children of God, along with those in Islam who are evil doers. I consider these evil doers hypocritical muslims.
Might I ask just one question SN, and please try to be as direct and concise as possible in ur response:

Do you believe in the ideology that Islam (along with its beliefs and laws and systems) should spread, and be enforced all across the world as the one true religion? and that this is indeed the goal of Islam and its founder and followers?

Thanks.

Christianity EtcRe: Don't Blame The West, Poverty Or Israel For Rise In Islamism by JeSoul(f): 5:32pm On Jan 03, 2011
and oh, this is also a very solid point too:

Terrorism, they argue, is rooted in poverty, frustration over the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and memories of western imperialism. In other words, so the argument goes, the West itself is to blame for terrorism. If only the West would apologize, make reparations, abandon Israel, leave the Middle East and Afghanistan, all would be well. Or at least that's where the root-cause crowd's assumptions logically lead.

The problem with this materialist view of terrorism is that it largely misses the spiritual motivations that inform Islamist geo-politics. As political theorist Barry Cooper argues in his book, New Political Religions, or, An Analysis of Modern Terrorism, the Islamists, like the Nazis and Communists, are motivated more by a "disease of the spirit" than materialist aspirations. "When ordinary human beings see themselves as specially chosen by God, or even as gods themselves, they are not necessarily psychopaths, but they most definitely are spiritually disordered."
Squarely on the head.

Interesting article.

A part of me wants to say the author is biased in some ways, another part of me quickly reminds of recent historical events and patterns.

I really liked this quote though:
Voegelin argued that some people -- politicians, intellectuals, journalists, for example -- prefer to see the world as a projection of their desires rather than comprehend its reality. Such fabulists effectively live in what Voegelin called a "second-order reality."
Very true and very deep. One of the major problems in partisan politics in much of the West today.

Katsumoto:
You are referring to the Republicans plans which were scaled down versions of the Obama plan by approximately $170 billion? The republicans objected to Obama's stimulus on the basis that it incresed the deficit by an additional $170 billion but have no problems in increasing the deficit by an additional $800 Billion. My point - they opposed it just because they wanted to oppose it and didn't suggest an ALTERNATIVE solution. Their dissent was more about $170 billion rather than the whole bill as was portrayed by the right wing media.
Now you're talking. And sorry if I'm harping on semantics - I just wanted to stress that alternatives were infact presented. If you don't believe in their viability (or that it was in respect to the whole bill or parts), that's another story for another economist (not that I am one). Obviously, the authors of the different plans (there were several you know, some not from the repubs) think otherwise about what it would do to the deficit. Ditto to the stimulus and bailouts. Even the green party was touting their own alternatives then.

Also interesting is how republicans including Mitt Romney opposed the healthcare bill which is very similar to the Massachusetts Bill signed by Romney. Romney is one of the republicans calling for the healthcare bill to be repealed.
You're right about Romney - but again, Romney does not constitute all republicans - and to the best of my knowledge - and as a massachusetts resident, republicans here were against it. This is one reason why I think Romney will have a very hard time trying to run for president. The mass healthcare system is in the financial toilet.

Point - most Republicans will oppose any idea from Obama even if it is one he borrowed from them.
This statement becomes thoroughly true - I think - with that small additional word from me. I just heard republican Senator Scott Brown from mass praising Obama to the high heavens for the recent bill, few days ago on local radio - generalizations I think are a bit of an issue here.

With regards to your point about levels of ignorance in the US, we shall agree to disagree.
Agreed. Here we go, something we can finally shake hands on  smiley

Exactly. And we are all guilty of this. We watch 5 mins of something on youtube, a 10 second highlight on CNN, a soundbite on fox and we subsequently go on to characterize and stereotype an entire group of people by that.

I know what I see in the media is false because I know people who choose to label themselves as dems/reps/libs/conservs and for the most part - they are nothing like what the media tries to tell us they are.

The study did not conclude that all Americans watch Fox news. The study concluded that FOX news is the news medium MOST guilty of disseminating false information thereby misleading a lot of people. The point I am trying to make which you have ignored is that mis-information of the citizenry has led to anti-Obama noise. Afterall, no one suggested that all Americans protested.
I don't believe that point has really been under debate. I conceded from the get-go that there is certainly a shady percentage of the populace who's beef is illegitimate - for whatever reason, be it racism or misinformation.

The bone of contention has been - whether or not this constitutes a majority - to which I have said it doesn't.

It is easy for anyone to criticise. I have supplied data which supports my position. You are yet to do that. So far, what we have from you is opinion and conjecture.
Whether you 'supplied data' Katsumoto is a matter of opinion. I don't consider floating websites with studies from colleges with pdf links that don't work - reliable.

Also, I am yet to hear from you or any other Republican alternative solutions to the recession which officially ended in 2009 and the current stale growth in the US economy. It is time for republicans to start making credible suggestions instead of just criticising Obama. Republicans criticised
1. The stimulus bill
2. Bailout (started by Bush)
3. QE2

Yet they have not put forward any concrete ideas to solve the current economic impasse.

Just so you know, I lean to the right myself but I support the economic policies of Obama.
I believe I already answered this in my last post?

You are trying to insinuate that there were absolutely no - zero - nada - zilch alternatives to the economic route Obama took, seriously? It would be better if you simply said you don't believe the republican or tea party or green party alternatives would've been better than Obama's approah. But to say no alternatives were suggested? seriously? Just a quick google search yields these highlights I remember from last yr -

Stimulus:
http://www.google.com/search?source=ig&hl=en&rlz=1G1GGLQ_ENUS317&q=alternatives+to+stimulus+bill&aq=1&oq=
GOP suggests alternatives to stimulus:
http://articles.cnn.com/2009-02-02/politics/stimulus_1_gop-senators-tax-cuts-stimulus-plan?_s=PM:POLITICS

Bail-out: (which were both against Bush's and Obama's by the way)
http://www.google.com/search?q=alternatives+to+bail-out&source=ig&hl=en&rlz=1G1GGLQ_ENUS317&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=

Whether or not you diagree with them or find them viable is not the point - but that alternatives were infact suggested as you've denied. This is why I said the penchant for Obama's supporters to constantly alledge opponents never suggest anything is flat out wrong.

Anyways I don't want this to turn into who can post more links or data or whatever. That's not really the point. I was just trying to counter your assertion that Americans are by and large ignorant - a point I firmly and ferociously disagree with.

Katsumoto, I want to believe it was a slip of the fingers (or maybe Negro borrowed you a bottle of his stash cheesy) when you posted that as "proof" of the "ignorance" of "americans" or is it "fox-news watchers". Surely a slip of the fingers.

First of all, your own link states that in their "poll" CNN and MSNBC 'viewers' did not fare much better - you conveniently left that part out. Is Fox corrupt? yes. Is practically every other media outlet in America equally if not more corrupt? a resounding yes. What you've only shown is there is a problem with information dissemination in the media - a problem most certainly and definitely not isolated to only fox.

But I don't want to lend any credibility to this "poll". I tried to look at the pdf (it wasn't loading) to see what n= to. How many people in the study? who was sampled? what was the demographic? when was it conducted? how was it ascertained who was really a "fox" or CNN watcher? being a university poll (unreliable by itself) quickly suggests it was probably done on a college campus. And it is popular knowledge a significant chunk of college campuses (esp those in the NorthEast) are left-leaning and therefore polls resulting from their people will be biased in that direction. And oh, btw, I originally said "Americans are not ignorant" this is different from being "well-informed" (as you said I said).

I can conduct my own NL poll right now and show you Obama's supporters like eating Eba and Egusi, and his non-supporters also like eating Eba and Egusi . . . afterall, I'll be sampling from the same group who happen to share the same "shortcomings".

The more I know and learn, the more I feel the constituents side of politics is mired in gross misunderstanding of what their perceived 'rivals' or 'enemies' really believe. For the most part - we all want a better America - what we disagree on is how to get there. And its too bad the party leadership has over time convinced the followers the other side is "evil" and "wrong". I am mostly conservative, and going by your stated belief - I apparently do not have a heart.
