RomanceRe: Which Is Appropriate? Being Ethical Or Moral. by JeSoul(f): 6:15pm On Sep 02, 2010
@Zipper003,

you're between a rock and a hard place, this is terrible. JohnKester said some very good things and I hear what everyone is saying about ethics and it's not your business and they're all right . . . but . . . if it were me I would speak up, because if the situation was reversed and I were that unsuspecting young man who's life is about to be ruined, and probably contract that death sentence called HIV, I would hope someone who had the power to prevent such a devastating thing from happening to me, would've taken action - even though it would come at a cost to them - personally or professionally.

Sometimes, it runs far deeper than "it's not my business/place". Do onto others as you'd have them unto you.

Seriously. This has made me drastically reconsider my policy of boldly declaring my country of birth whenever I am asked. To think that if sherrify had answered in the affirmative, he would not be here to type this story today. Hmmm . . . me I dey fear oh undecided.

The story is from 2007, hopefully things are not still that bad over there.

Foreign AffairsRe: Farrakhan Confirms West's Involvement In Abacha's assassination by JeSoul(f): 3:21pm On Aug 31, 2010
cap28:
Are you saying that nigerians are to blame for their own enslavement, colonialism and now neo colonialism implemented by way of international financial institutions like the IMF and the world bank?
No and yes. True we were kidnapped and removed forcibly into slavery, but also in many many instances it would never happened if we did not sell our own brothers and sisters to the white man for spices and mirrors. So we share plenty of blame there too.

Okay so Farrakhan did not paint the whole picture of Abacha's tyrannical rule over nigeria, but let me ask you a question -was his replacement Obasanjo an improvement? For your information Obasanjo was chosen by the US as Abacha's replacement NOT because he was going to take nigeria forward but because Abacha refused to accept the IMF loans and structural adjustment programmes recommended by the american financial institutions. Obasanjo was chosen by the americans as Abacha's successor because he agreed to plunge nigeria further into debt and destroy the living standards of the average nigerian so how you can think that the americans did nigeria a favour for removing Abacha is beyond me.
I don't think I made any comment negative or positive on Obasanjo did I? That's irrelevant to the fact Abacha was a monster and Farrakhan's endorsement on Abacha is revealing on the kind of person Farrakhan is.

Even if Abacha really resisted western influence, how does that make him a hero as farrakhan is trying to insinuate? I'll say it again, if the west was really responsible for Abacha's death, then we owe them a huge thank-you letter for ridding us of that tyrant. They did for us what we should've done for ourselves as far as I'm concerned.
Foreign AffairsRe: Farrakhan Confirms West's Involvement In Abacha's assassination by JeSoul(f): 8:44pm On Aug 30, 2010
I knew what he was going to say before I watched the video and I guessed right. It is the same chant countless black people all around the world join voices and participate in when they refuse to look in the mirror and see their own worst enemy:

"Blame the white man"

See how he painted a false picture of Abacha as a hero who stood up to western influence instread of the tyrant that he was. A tyrant whose timely death was celebrated en masse by his own people. When will black people start looking in the mirror and holding ourselves responsible for our own shortcomings? instead of forever pointing to past real and present imagined oppression from 'white people'?

And if indeed the West was somehow involved in Abacha's death, then I say we owe them a long delayed letter of sincere gratitude.

Christianity EtcRe: Incantations To Invoke Viaro by JeSoul(f): 8:14pm On Aug 30, 2010
Deep Sight:
I desperately miss Viaro. Where the hell is he?

Viaro, for all our somersaults, i read again some of our past debates and i found them absolutely exhilarating. Even your yabbis sef, na special yabbis. I will never forget the debate where after making a point you wrote to me -"Get lost now and get back to your day job of a lavatory cleaner!" That really had me in stitches!

There is no doubt that you are obstinate as hell and will refuse to see a plain point when it is starkly obvious. However I reflect that -

1. That can be said about everybody - especially me; and -

2. On reading some of our discussions with a cool head months later, its easier to see where the other party is coming from!

This does not mean I accept some of your more outlandish propositions!

Anyhow what struck me most is the fact that it is ridiculous that I could share so much and so extensively with someone and not even know who that person is! Someone asked me where you are and I responded saying I don't even know who Viaro is or his name.

I want to thank you for the fantastic times and wonderful knowledge you have shared with us and absolutely beg you to grace us once more with your space-age vocabulary ("linear tarradiddle," etc), scholarly approach, and grand yabbis arsenal.

In short, let me just say the simple words - I miss you!
Hmmm . . . this kin love is suspect oh

Foreign AffairsRe: Will President Barack Obama Ever Be Popular Again? by JeSoul(f): 3:59pm On Aug 30, 2010
I agree with 4Play, there's nuthin wrong with Obama and Michelle taking time off. However . . .

the problem is that this is a very different economic climate from when Bush and other presidents took theirs. Many American's are in dire straits, many of them unemployed and struggling to pay bills. Hence any activity (that would otherwise be seen as harmless under different circumstances) suddenly seem lavish and wasteful.

I remember sometime last year Deval Patrick our gov here in Mass, took a week-long vacation to the Bahamas. Unfortunately for him, it coincided with the same time scores of jobs (including teachers, cops, fire fighters etc) were being cut from the state. It was not wrong for him to take a vacation, but it certainly was bad judgement and a lack of foresight on how it would rub the people the wrong way.

       Je ne crains aucun mal,
       car tu es avec moi;
       votre houlette et ton bâton,
       me rassurent.

Vous préparez une table devant moi
       en présence de mes ennemis.
       Tu oins d'huile ma tête;
       ma coupe déborde.

Oui, le bonheur et l'amour qu'il me suive
tous les jours de ma vie,
et j'habiterai dans la maison de l'Éternel
       pour toujours.

hope that helps.

Sagamite:
Most of these EXTREMELY expensive and FLASHY material things are not used for the church, they are used by the pastor.

You can get a boeing 747 to use for the church but a private jet is for the pastor.

You can bet a luxury bus/motorcycle for the church, a ferrari is for the pastor.

You spend congressions money frugally and humbly for church, these pastors spend grandiosely and flatulently for their comfort. And they keep milking intensely from the moronic flock to maintain the comfort and promising them falsity. That is a sin.

babaearly:
Im reading a literature and also checking out the marriage at cana verses in the bible. Im thinking why Jesus was the main focus? Was it his wedding?
Maybe because the gospels are about "The Life of Jesus?" I'm sure thousands of wedding occured during His lifetime yet only this one was mentioned because He was there and probably more importantly - that's where He performed His first miracle.

Not because the writer was trying to chronicle the marriage itself . . . well at least if you believe the biblical account. Cheers.
