^^ makes the average person wonder if terrorism is not infact an more profitable means of earning a livelihood. Once you get caught, you're taken care of, protected by "laws", have attorneys at your service, residence, food, doctors, even electronics and laptops (as in one case last yr) all at the expense of the state. I mean why slave yourself to death when you can be high profile and have it free?

I tend to agree too. Despite my personal partiality to Romney wink(if only he could squash his liberal tendencies and grow a spine grin), I genuinely like Palin and her ideas. Politics could do with more people like her, in both parties and on both sides. Politicians who are straight forward and blunt, people who aren't afraid to say it like they mean it. Also a little populism is necessary as too many politicians have forgotten that the everyday people matter. But unfortunately I don't the US is ready for her now. Genuine populism is sentiment that makes the present political establishment scared and nasty. Its one of the reasons why even the leaders of the Republican party don't really like her. The way the political system is set up I am not sure she would fit as a President, unless she changes her self or the system changes.
I agree mostly with you Montelik. I'll add another dimension. I think an ideal leader should be attractive to people of every political persuation. A problem I have with the poilitical system in America is if you're right - you always vote and talk and walk right, and if you're left vice versa.

Palin is far right and stays there. I think an ideal society would require elements and ideas from both extremes to work. Balance is everything and as much as I love her, I don't think she's balanced enough.

You like Romney? hmm . . . no comment for now. lol.

Matthew 10:8
Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

As much as we may not neglect to appreciate Christian musicans financially. I think its wrong for them to put money first as top priority. It is like inviting a preacher and he starts to talk about how much he will charge. He ought to come first, then we know the word of od enough to appreciate them well financially.

1 Tim. 5:17
Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
Actually that applies to all christians across the board, not just musicians. What worries me is this principle is mostly only quoted when it comes to musicians and them being compensated for their services.

Picture your average "conference" or "retreat" or service etc . . . the caterers get paid, the security team gets paid, the cleaners get paid, the transportation people get paid etc it's standard . . . but when it comes to the musicians, suddenly, they should give freely? and "glorify God with their gifts" How come visiting pastors cannot glorify God with their gifts? usually their contracts and compensation are discussed upfront when they are invited, why should it be any different for any other member of the body?

My brother,

Mark9:47 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell

this verse and the others, were not meant to be taken or applied literally, but moreso figuratively. Cut off or pluck out anything in your life that hinders you from living a life that is pleasing to God, not literally cut off your body parts.

I think it is down to a select few in my opinion. These few are the Lawyers and those who make a living from this kind of incident. It cost millions of Tax payers money in terms of legal aid payment made to the lawyers of these people.
Pouring sand and salt on the injury. Recall the recent KSM drama of hosting his trial in NY. The cost estimates of providing security for the duration of his trial was mind boggling . . . all this for an admitted murderer? I think our fore fathers were onto something when they marched out captured killers to the gallery and hung them straight.

From my view, it appears that these laws and acts favours the criminals/terrorist than it favours the innocent and law abiding people of the land. I am also of the belief that people should lose their automatic rights once heinous crimes are involve.

@toba,
May God reward you abundatly.
@ Joeagbaje
Abeg you go teach me only one o. . . bass guiter! plssss, or how much grin

I think instrumentalists who are christians should be free to define what it is they really want.

This skill that you have. . . is it it for hire or simply to glorify God? Be clear about what you want and go for it.

Many of you have opted for the lower blesssings because of shortsightedness or should I say, greed.

I mean someoine will play in a wakekeeping on thurday, burial on friday. . . club later at night and on saturday and then church on sunday. Habba!
I mean. . . what meaneth this? You are either a christian or not. That is why I am not against those who are clear about their being 'for hire'.
It is the same with gospel artists these days. They ask for money first!

I remember some foreign artisits were invited for a Christ Embassy crusade years ago and they requested for money first. pastor Chris was dissappointed and asked that they forget about it. Then he said to the Choir in Christ Embassy. . . 'write your own songs'. For years now, Christ Embassy has produced some of the best artists in the country ; Buchi, Sinach, Frank Edwards, E-Ben, Samsong, and many more. This is the belssing of God, not of man. When God lifts a man, it is clear.
I remember him say during the crusade that if those foreign artists had come, he would have given them far more than they requested for.

You can never out-give God, he is a just God and always rewards faithfulness.

I remember a drummer in Ikeja church years ago who mentioned to pastor Chris that it was his birthday. He got a car on the spot! Now how many years of dragging with choir master after service for N2,000 can buy him that car?

I know of some who have been given scholarships by the church or the pastor. Please be wise, God is not unfaithful. And if you are a christian, remember to take the Word and faith along with you. These will surely prevail.
Donnie, you're muddying the waters.

A. There are musicians who play recreationally, at church, at occasional events etc. Then -
B. There are professional musicians who play as a means of earning their livelihood

You can expect your approach for category A and indeed it is the approach that I usually take myself (if I get paid great, if I don't that's great too). But for category B, you cannot expect them to book dates and events, especially when travel is involved without their enquiring in advance about payment for their services.

Other professionally trained people do not typically offer their services (be it to a religious event or not) for free. Why should it be different for musicians?

Pastor AIO:
Soul music is very powerful. And Blues too. But really Soul music is just gospel music with different kinda lyrics. It was Ray Charles and Sam Cooke that started that. They would take the Gospel tunes and just change the lyrics to intimacy and love.
My all time favourite Soul singers are Sam Cooke, Donny Hathaway, and Marvin Gaye. Marvin dominated my mind for a very long period of my life. Shame I couldn't sing like him cos there was nothing I would have liked better in this world.
I'm slowly getting into the soul/disco from the 80's again but to be honest after the 80's there isn't much that I like in soul music. Maybe the debut album from D'angelo and a couple of other artists here and there.
There's a point I agree with. Much of soul today is honestly boring, especially the Neo-soul spin off. But here and there, there are a few gems. Joss Stone, Heather Headley - not sure if you know them, IndiaArie, are some of my new skool favs. I still jam along to Al Green, Gladys Knight etc quite often. Mainstream gospel really bores me. It sounds like the same song over and over again. Barely any artistry going on behind the hoopla.

Reggae? I like Roots reggae. A lot of the stuff from the 70s and also the dub too. The earlier ska too.
I'm similar. Not really into dancehall reggae - those SeanPaul types. But the roots and ska are cool.

. . . but HipHop? kai! not my scene at all. I like a few artists every now and again, but generally I avoid hiphop music. I can appreciate the high standard of their productions, artists like Dr. Dre, Timbaland etc but the lyrically content (and not just because of the rude language) leaves me cold. One can use foul language and still be artistic with it, but I don't really get the artistry in much of hip hop.
Lol, trust me, I know exactly what you're talking about. I don't do mainstream hiphop, for the most part, its all junk. But men, there's a ton of artistry that goes in hiphop oh! Besides the production on the track - there's the writing style, the delivery, the wit, the storytelling, the ability to keep the listener interested etc Unfortunately artists that excel in these areas are few and far btw.

This is a clear example of how the West continues to lose all and any semblance of common sense in the name of political correctness or under the unfortunate illusion of "following the law".

America does this all the time too. Trying to protect the "rights" of admitted or known terrorists. It's disgusting and an insult to law-abiding citizens everywhere. One can only hope the law of God and nature will be true for them - you reap what you sow - and may it be so for these murderers.

Jack baur seems to know charles logan very well, for him to employ the same method he used in getting proof about president david palmer's death again, the next move for jack would be to invade the agreement signing venue with a loud speaker playing the conversation between logan and subverov
For where? He's going to kill the Russian president and they'll end the series with him about to be killed or something like that - so they can make their 3-part movie afterwards. Personally, I strongly prefer that he be killed off tongue let him go and join Renee on the other side.
SportsRe: NBA Season 2010/11 by JeSoul(f): 1:59pm On May 19, 2010
Men, I must apologize to the Celtics. I expected a second round exit, but whatever winch they ate is doing wonders. Goes a long way to alleviate the stench that are the RedSox this year.

Eastbay:
I don't know if it's me,but the Celtics have been an entirely different matter this post-season.
We thought they wouldn't get past the second round at best, but the way they've systematically dismantled the Heat and Cavaliers, and doing same to the Magic suggests they are getting better.
Of the four teams left in the play-offs,they are playing better:getting offensive contributions from three, four, sometimes five players each night.
Against the Lakers,D-Fish will struggle against Rondo.Fact.
The Celtics defence is fantastic. They've shut down LeBron and D-Wade ths fat, two of the NBA's most potent offensive weapons.Who's to say they can't do same to Kobe? Not saying they will, but it's not improbable.
See what they did to Orlando. First they forced Howard to a high-post, reducing his effect in the paint. And they defend the Magic's screen-roll on the perimeter, making them take rushed threes and as a result, the other weapon they have (3-point shooting) has been disabled thus far.
The best the magic can hope for is to force a game five by taking one in the Garden.Otherwise I don't see them taking this series. You need not look beyond game one to know the series is effectively over.
Coupled with some daft play by the Magic (continuously high-posting Howard and silly lapses by REdick),the Celtics are as good as in teh finals
The only area the Lakers would have an advantage would be in the front-court with the mobile giants they have (Bynum,Gasol,Odom).Otherwise,if they execute defensively like they've done consistently this post-season,I forsee the Lakers struggling.
Spot on analysis.

I knew the Celtics had a chance against the Magic because of how well we played against them last yr - taking them to 7 games - without KG. Plus we destroyed them in Orlando on christmas day this yr without Paul Pierce, so I'm not sure why ppl wrote them off. But I didn't think they could/would execute the gameplan this efficiently. It's really incredible how well they're playing. I sense they've got the fire back, some of that killa instinct and now actually believe they can go all the way - and they just might.

  It's going to be a Laker-Celtic final.
