@Homer, thanks for expounding. It was a matter of semantics. There were some shortcomings in how I phrased my question as well. I think I understand you better now. Thanks!

@KAG, thanks for the explanation. I may have one or two cherries to pick in your last post. I'll be back.

Buzzzzzzzz:
I'm a reader here but I refrain from posting lest my throat be cut. I just need to drop my two cents quick.

Fact is a proven theory or simply a discovered fact. Laws are processes based on facts. Laws say that if this and this happens, this will occur. A law is not a fact or vice versa but laws are based on facts. Theories are processes based on some facts and educated guesses and conjecture. The reason why science is reluctant to label and box anything as fact and law any more is not because they aren't facts and laws but because they are facts and laws only under certain conditions. We cannot project all the possible conditions there can be and we thus box these facts and laws with a clause. The anomalous expansion of water. Superconductivity. The 'Special' theory of relativity. Absolute temperature. And a host of other similar things are good examples.
@Buzzzz, perhaps you should post more sir. That was a very good explanation.

Infidelity is not even the issue here. zuma is a promiscuous old fool but that is besides the point. He has a position of leadership and since in africa we reward irresponsibility and celebrate destructive behavior in the name of culture and tradition, we get this mess in a large number of families. You want to see why african leaders behave the way they do? Do you want to know why African always seems to have a hard time getting everything right even when everything is there to get it right? Just look at the state of African families. Look at it with a truthful and open heart. Look at the way they are set up and run.
This is true and very well said Outstrip.

Deep Sight:
@ Nuclearboy, Mad_Max, KunleOshob -

I emphaticaly disagree. You make it appear as though the persons being fleeced are incapable of reading the bible.

You also make it appear as though those persons are incapable of quiet introspection.

These people have access to Bibles and can study the scripture if they choose to do so. Indeed I do not know what gives them the right to imagine themselves members of Christendom if they do not personally study the scriptures. The scriptures are clear that every word ministered to them should be subjected to personal study and introspection. If these people cannot read the scripture and free themselves from the lies being sold to them, then i verily submit that that is EXACTLY what they deserve. It is ridiculous to claim that people cannot reason for themselves: or that once a Pastor repeats something often enough, people should be excused for gobbling it up without personal reflection.

Entirely aside from the Bible and Religion, it is the sacred responsibility of every human being to reflect closely on his life, his purposes, his essence and the context and meaning of his existence - and no person can be excused for failing to do this. If any person has failed to do this and is spiritually lazy enough to allow himself to become the slave of some Pastor that is entirely his fault; the karma will rest squarely with him: and it will not avail him to point to the snake or to Eve in a plaintive plea aimed at avoiding responsibility. We are each responsible for ourselves and our spirituality.

The plain truth is that many of these people are driven by their own greed and nothing else. I have painfully explained to many that a gift given with the hope and intention of procuring a reward is spiritually empty. If these people are not able to appreciate this fact then the nasty truth is that they are and remain who they are: and are fully culpable for the evil visited on them by the rogue-pastor.
^Well said Deepsight. I believe Jesus spoke to this situation: Matthew 15:14 ". . . they are blind guides. If a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit."

The deceiver and the one who allowed themselves to be deceived, are both guilty of error and will both answer to God.
That's why we need to stop thinking about who matches up to him one on one and instead focus our attention to harder fouls on him, better help defense or zone defence
I'm not sure harder fouls will deter Rondo. He's a dragdoll, and takes hits all the time and bounces right up. Remember how many shots of his were blocked in game 2 yet he kept driving to the rim all night. I think better zone D will help, but not much. If you block off the driving lanes he'll kick it out to the open jump shooter, which is usually Allen.

As for the bigs, celtics definitely showed more determination in game 2 outrebouding us, rondo had like 12 rebounds
You're right. Hustle can outshine potential, but I still think Lakers have the major advantage in the middle with their unnegotiable size. If Gasol and Bynum were more aggressive, ya'll would kill Perkins and Baby.

John Q. Needs only one adjective: Moving.
Where a heart rending everyday script collides with a brilliant actor who portrays the role so seamlessly.

justkunmi:
And I so loved the end where his son did the macho pose. Telling the world his dad is a hero. Going to prison or not. Hero all the way.
My favorite scene too. Also loved the scenes with him in the ER with the hostages, as they slowly warm up to him. So human. So beautiful. And where his wife tells him over the phone with that strong face lol "John, do something". Overall, a very good movie.

I rate John Q - 97%.

@jesoul, I no get your time till after the finals. For now, just ask those old men when they would get tired
Well, me I got your time now grin

Seriously, we need to put a leash on rondo, he's now the king of the culprits smiley. Phil jackson zone defence, shannon brown, hard fouls, double team, just do something.
It'll be hard to slow Rondo down cos neither Fisher nor Brown have the speed to keep up. That's one area Lakers don't match up well with the C's. On the other hand, we will be grilled all day down in the middle by the size of Gasol and Bynum. Celtics just don't have that kind of size to match the Lakers at all.

KAG:
While you're correct in stating that theories aren't fact, it is wrong to think that theories will or can ever become facts. Theories are never proved, because science doesn't do proof. So, except when they have been falsified, theories never cease being theories no matter how rigorous the evidence.
I like this quote. I have a few questions if you don't mind KAG.
Are you saying a theory can never be proven to be fact? And also, care to explain what you mean by "science doesn't do proof"? Thanks.

Evolutionary biologists make predictions all the time: it's what helped with the finding of tiktaalik, it preceded the finding of shared ERV's, and is done many times in laboratory experiments, etc. While you're right that there's no useful prediction on what - if anything - a particular species will look like, there are plausible projections based on certain parameters.
I share the opinion that making predictions or projections based on current evidence is infact good science. I think the problem Justcool has (and I share) is that often these predictions can have a knack of keeping one in a theoretical box, a box with dimensions that have been predicted or guessed, and hence may not be accurate, and hence may limit our scope of research.

That being said, I'm not sure there is necessarily a better alternative. We go by what we know, and what we know is limited. The minute we step outside of that, it becomes bias and conjecture.

thehomer:
Theories in science are formulated using observations and experiments that have been borne out. They are to be demonstrated to be false with good evidence not to be proven true. The proponent of the theory says it is correct for some reasons when it is examined, it may be found to hold, or its predictions may hold or it may fail. If it fail, it will be discarded.
A thesis is not yet a theory until it has withstood several probes.
Before one can even start to compose a thesis, the person must first have some facts at hand. These facts must also be correct.
If I may jump in . . .  Homer, you may want to re-read and re-phrase the bolded. Are you saying a theory stands as truth unless evidence to the contrary is provided? then what is the point of calling it a theory in the first place? Please correct me if I'm misunderstanding you.

And this thread is a classic example of legalism, and why legalism kills.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legalism_(theology)

@Gbemyte, there are two ways -
1 - Tithing ritualistically, based on a defunct Old Testament Law that is no longer applicable to New Testament christians

as opposed to

2 - Tithing or Freely giving in response to grace and as you've decided in your heart.

This thread is a classic example of #1. Questions like "can I substitute my tithe for this? or can I pay my tithe using that?"  #1 will keep you in chains, #2 will set you free. I hope you choose to set yourself free from deceitful pastors robbing you in the name of God. Godbless.

did u know she's going to Ghana to give a speech and wait for it, she's going to charge $150,000 for the speech, I wonder what she's going to chat about, aapparently she's going to be giving the speech at the University of Ghana, whoever is speaking up the bill which i suspect will be the Ghanian government needs to have their head examined, when will African governments learrn, we all know oil had just bn found in Ghana but the money should be used to build an orphnage for thousands of kids helping to clear or shall I say making peanuts from dump that had bn sent from UK and US, it's shocking, no one has bn prosecuted and its bn going on for ages. Africa is where they dump their used electronics.

sarah palin's daughter has not bn let out, charging $15,000 to talk rubbuish, she's a celebrity so is her mum, its all about money these days, I bet obama will make more than BILL Clinton when he lives office, I know he will, he seems to like hosting celebrities in the white house, he's a celeb politician.
Thameamead, I'm not sure what your beef is. So she should go there for free? Political icons travel the world all the time giving speeches and they always charge for it.

Back in '06 Bill Clinton was charging as much as $300,000 per speech. http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/06/14/bill.clinton.speeches/
Al Gore in '07? $150,000. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-500586/Al-Gore-criticised-lining-pockets-3-300-minute-green-speech.html

Sista I could go on but charging for speeches is not unique to Sarah Palin. And if anyone wants to pay Bristol $15,000 to 'speak' then its not Bristol's fault but the people paying her. You think I would turn down $15,000 grand to go and speak on the effects on the long term effects on the environment of the oil spill? even though I don't knoiw jack about it?
Christianity EtcRe: I Hate Religion by JeSoul(f): 1:59pm On Jun 04, 2010
Horus:
Religion is for drop outs. People hold on to religion, like a crutch because they can't make it any other way. With religion you stop being responsible for your own actions and blame someone else like God when it's something you like and the Devil when it's something you don't like.
While the above rings somewhat true for a portion of religionists, but as a whole, Horus, this is a reckless statement to make. All through history, people have done both terrible and incredibly wonderful things - in the name of their religion. So to use a broadstroke and declare all religious people as irresponsible loons divorced from reality, is indicative of shallow, biased reasoning. The same criminal reasoning you accuse the religionists of.

benodic:
i just dicovered that i have started developing a very big hatred for religion the way it is presented in this world.

i wish i have the words to voice out the feelings that have been bottled up in me. religion is a mess. this is something that is supposed to bring love and unity into the world but rather it is bringing death and destruction.

going through the posts that is presented in NL i have come to realise that we are in a very big mess in this world and death is the only escape.

i will never forget the experience i had in my first year in the university. i met a guy who i became friends with. he was a catholic. out of  love for our friendship i even followed him to some catholic mass. our friendship ended the day he discovered that i was not a christian. he thoroughly embarrassed me in public because of our different beliefs.

another case was a class mate that i gave all the help i could in our class for years. but the day his fellow christian questioned his friendship with me was the day our friendship ended as he suddenly realized he has been receiving help from a sinner bound for hell.

my religion taught me to love and accept others the way they are without judging them and that every soul will go back to God at its own time. but i am faced with others who believe that once i do not believe the way they do then i am condemned and they will not have anything to do with me.

how do we survive in a world like this. this question is up to everyone.
Benodic, there's no need to be disheartened my brother. Man has always exhibited tendencies towards the above you describe. As I mentioned above, while they're ppl using their religion as a weapon unto wrong, there're those using it as a weapon unto good. Focus on the good, and those pursuing it and let it inspire your heart unto doing the same for your fellow man.

People who will kill, steal, hate, discriminate etc will do so one way or another, with or without religion. Religion just happens to be their "justification" or outlet for that which already exists in them. If religion didn't exist, they would use something else. Religion is not to blame, it is we who choose what to do with the religion we're armed with.

Godbless.
