Foreign AffairsSouth African Woman Jailed In Nigeria For Drug Trafficking by jidewin(op): 8:47pm On Jan 23, 2013
A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, southwest Nigeria, Wednesday sentenced a 37-year-old South African woman, Mrs. Duru Gcimukwazi Lindiwefa to 18 years imprisonment for attempting to export 5.5 kilogrammes of methamorphine to South Africa.

The convict was arrested on 26 July, 2012 during the outward clearance of a South African airline to Johannesburg.

She pleaded guilty to a count charge.

Her counsel, Eugene Okenyi, in his allocutus urged the court to be lenient with the convict because she is HIV positive, and is married to a Nigerian man whom she had a son for. But the husband is nowhere to be found.

The counsel said she was not aware that the substance she was carrying was a drug, as it was put in her bag by a man who claimed to be a good samaritan who bought her a return ticket to South Africa.

In her judgement, the presiding judge, Justice Benedicta Molokwu, said the convict showed sign of remorse.

She therefore sentenced her to 18 months imprisonment without an option of fine.

Justice Molokwu also ordered that she should be repatriated to South Africa after serving her jail term.

CrimeRe: Sentenced To Death For Drug Trafficking by jidewin(m): 8:36pm On Jan 23, 2013
Gorrbachev: ALOR STAR, Jan 22 — A Nigerian man was sentenced to death by hanging by the High Court here today after he was found guilty of trafficking in 16,936gm of cannabis two years ago.

Judicial Commissioner Mohd Zaki Abdul Wahab handed down the sentence on John Amaechi Eze, 23, after finding that the prosecution had established the case beyond reasonable doubt. Eze, a student at a private college in Kuala Lumpur, was charged with committing the offence in front of Dewan Lye Huat Garden, Jitra, about 9.30pm on May 10, 2011. Eze, who looked calm when the Mohd Zaki handed down the sentence, then requested permission to contact his family in Nigeria and informed the court that he had not contacted them since he was arrested. Mohd Zaki said the matter would be arranged by his lawyer, Ali Munawar Razak, and deputy public prosecutor Wan Nor Hasnita Wan Daud, who prosecuted in the case. - Bernama

Now, for anyone harbouring thoughts of trafficking drugs to this country, this is what you get. It beats me why someone would risk their life, by taking banned substance to this racist shit hole called Malaysia, because when issued a visa, it is clearly stated that the punishment for drug trafficking in Malaysia is death.

To be fair and honest to Malaysia, there are some very nice and wonderful people out there but they are greatly outnumbered by the bigots among them. I live and study in Malaysia and I've observed a bias pattern in judicial procedures and policing as regards drug trafficking and crime prevention.

My assertions are based on my day to day experience and observation as a resident, i have no statistical analysis of the Nigerian population living in Malaysia neither do i have the exact figures or nationality of the number of cases prosecuted by the Malaysian judiciary.

From the Nigerian side, The easterners (Igbos) out-number other ethnic groups within the Nigerian community here. That's why most Nigerians you meet are from the east. A lot Nigerians you meet are not in Malaysia to study, though they are enrolled in one college or another, they are semi-illiterates or outright illiterates, very lousy, brash and arrogant (for reasons i don't understand). Then we have the stranded group who were duped by travel agents into thinking the pasture in Malaysia is greener.

In short, You meet criminals of all shapes, size and age. They just sleep, eat and wake up, and hope for the next Maga to pay. They are so much, you'll think all Nigerians living in Malaysia are criminals, but we have bright students doing well and graduating in Malaysian universities , we have gainfully employed graduates trained by Malaysians themselves (few) and business men and women doing legitimate business exporting goods to and from Nigeria (also few compared to the population of the Nigerian community). But the Yahoo boys and drug traffickers are so high in number it seems they've all relocated from Nigeria to Malaysia. Conditions here favour them.

Basic infrastructure is great here compared to what we have in Nigeria. 24 hours electricity, Running water, Well laid roads, affordable high speed internet, Compact 3/4 bedroom apartment, affordable furniture, Little or no scrutiny on international remittance etc. Malaysia is a yahoo boy's Paradise. Though most foreigners, especially new comers call them (Malaysians) lazy and stupid (i still don't get the rationale behind that).

On the Malaysian side, You'll meet the Malay supremacist. A Muslim, religious bigot, loud, aggressive and assertive. He (Male and Female) hates Jews and despises Christians. He wants to protect the "sanctity" of Islam, State resources are at his disposal. His opinion and interest supersedes that of others. His ancestors are the first settlers in Peninsular Malaysia. His interpretation of the Islamic text dictates and guides the Muslim community and some times the Whole nation. His favourite question when he meets you for the first time in class or anywhere is "Are you Muslim?". He runs the country and he knows it.

Then we have the Chinese Chauvinist, A business tycoon/ hard working student. Drives flashy cars, He believes his race is the best. He is rich and he has read stories of Nigerians using Malaysian girls as drug mules. He has meet or read of stranded Nigerians who loiter around Kuala-Lumpur begging for money (These stranded guys don't shower, so they stink). He cringes when you happen to be in the same elevator, crosses to the other side of the road when you are walking towards each other and always thinks you need something from him any time you try to talk to him. He has held on to so many Nigerian horrible stories and thinks every Nigerian is like that.

Then, we have the Angry Indian, Always pissed and Mean-mugging you. He has been discriminated against so much that even his language is not included in the country's ATM machine (LMAO). He is always trying to pick fights with you and the first comment he makes is "THIS IS MY COUNTRY!". He'll smash his crash helmet on you at the slightest provocation or stab you. He also reads of atrocities committed by Nigerians and sees you as a threat.

So, living in Malaysia has made me a racism connoisseur of sought. In fact, I have become so sensitive that I believe I can tell if an individual is racist within a few seconds of being around them. There are people in Malaysia whose sole purpose in life is just to ruin your day. Racism in Malaysia is perfect. It is subtle when it needs to be and brass when necessary. As a foreigner you might be misled into thinking Malaysia is a boring place and no one gives a damn about you, so you can do what ever you like and get away with it. No, you are seriously mistaking. Malaysia sometimes feels like the North-Korea we watch on T.V. Some citizens are very nosy and they watch and observe every move you make. I read a news article some weeks ago that says about 80% of Police personnel don't do normal Policing but rather, they spy and gather intelligence.

So, my point is this. Malaysia is a tightly controlled society where the authorities decide what business prospers, whether legal or illegal. Elements within the police control the drug trade, the distributors are under their command and they arrest them when it's politically needed to unite the country against a common enemy. We hear of stories of Iranian and Arab drug traffickers who are quietly deported and warned never to return to Malaysia but other Nationalities are shown off as trophy in front of news men who broadcast and publish sensational news headline.

South-east Asian countries are united against drug trafficking and they hold meetings regularly to discuss new strategies on deterrent, Death (rolls eyes). So, it baffles me why people still take the risk. John Amaechi Eze was sentenced on January 22, a British Grand mother Lindsay Sandiford was also sentenced to death on the same day in Indonesia. In the year 2008, Two Nigerians were executed in Indonesia and 1 in Singapore.

Nigerians, Please stop trying to Bring drugs into Malaysia. They will Fu=ck you up!

I would like to first thank everyone who have made their comments on this story. And also a big kudos the moderators and Seun of Nairaland.I least expected the magnitude of readers (over 10 thousand within 15 hours and still counting). It proves how strong, viable and accessible nairaland is fast becoming as an indigenous Media.

The story on the late Obinna Ugboaja,i might add is not a peculiar one. There are and have been series of cases like this that gets swept under the carpet, while their families bemoans their fate.It is no doubt, that SOME foreigners resort to uncomely means to survive or live a lifestyle they chose to desire. But in the case of the late Obinna,it is not so.
There are confirmed sources the late young man of 32years of age,was a computer technician, working for a registered south african establishment.Meaning he was legit, worked, earned and obviously a tax payer.Contrary to what some comments were made about "his personality",There was no ocular proof he was involve in the drug trade.Irregardless of the picture the south african police wants the public to accept and believe. Thanks to the desperate individuals(and these does not exclude south africans) who saw the magnitude of the trade in drugs as highly profitable and a fast means to make wealth.

What would have gone wrong? why was his wife turned away from the police station the same night she went to check and affirmed the late Nigerians car was there at the police premises?.How come after several hours the same law enforcement agents refered his wife to the mortuary? Was the traces of blood in his mouth and around his neck a trace of strangulation?,If he had swallowed or attempted to swallow "exhibits" on him,why the choke and obvious detention without any attempt to make him defaecate the substances (i.e if there truly was any)? The visible marks round his necks portrays what?? This and many more questions are yet to be answered.

Afrophobia,a bye-product of Xenophobia, is a living phenomenon to which vast majority of south african citizens (permit me to add not all)have accepted as means of expressing to the world at large, their resentment of foreigners DWELLING in their country. It does not matter whether you are there legitemately or otherwise in particular if you are from another african country,be it West,East,North or Central Africa.
I have seen how ethiopeans, sudannes nationals, just to mention a few,who are shop owners (spaza shops) have tasted the brunt of disgruntled south african citiznes.Do you now some ladies would never step into the beauty shop of some salons the moment they realise they are not south africas??I saw this happened at yeoville. Not to mention the assaults and often murder of zimbambweans, malawians and zambians nationals any time some township "cleansing" have to be carried out,a means by which most times foreigners are the targets. Claims such as "crime INCREASED when this foreigners came to our township,it is the zimbos who are raping our girls,it the zambians who are hijacking our cars and crossing them to neignbouring SADC,It is the Nigerians who are destroying our children by selling drugs to them, there are less jobs in the mining sectors because the foreigners from Lesotho are too many,we dont have affordable home because the chinese, pakistanis, malaysians have taken over available accomodation for shops and warehouses, etc etc etc as the list goes on".

Here, foreigners are to be blamed for increase in crime, even the spread of HIV. However,in the case of the late obinna is this applicablehuh. The current ruling party of South Africa, ANC, have a lot of image re-branding on their hands on the International Scene to do.The South African media too needs to think and act in line with this.Stereotyping nationals from the West African countries, as unfit and undesirable does not help The Rainbow Nation. From this same W.A countries are investors and equally skilled workers in various work related sectors in health, education, engineering, accouting, real estate and so on and they are even been less paid compared to other foreign nationals from europe and america. It is not only Africans that have had one or two negative thing to say about the country, even some Western Europeans too does. Unfortunately, foreigners have limited choice;LIVE WITH IT OR GO BACK TO YOUR COUNTRY.
There is no doubt,if the Independent Police Investigative Directorate would be fair and thorough, without compromise, the truth about the demise of the young Nigerian man would be revealed. But for now,we the Nigerians in South Africa have only one conviction, 32 years old Obinna Ugboaja, a skillful computer technician was murdered. For now,it is Nigeria, tomorrow,it could a Ghanaian,Zimbambwean,Zambian, congolese,Ugandian,Burkinabe, togolese, etc.

The country Madiba suffered and fought for is to be a role model nation (people of colors)"We enter into a covenant that we shall build a society in which all South Africans, both black and white, will be able to walk tall, without and fear in their hearts, assured of their inalienable right to human dignity – a rainbow nation at peace with itself and the world. - Nelson Mandela, Inaugural Address, Pretoria 9 May 1994"
And yes,not a place where anything and everything goes, but an african nation where when you come to,you feel at home while away from home."We owe it to all the peoples of the sub-continent to ensure that they see in us, not merely good leaders waxing lyrical about development, but as the front commanders in the blast furnaces of labour, productive investments and visible change. - Nelson Mandela, Southern African Development Community (SADC) 15th anniversary summit, Johannesburg 13 September 1995"

So far only 3 media establishment covered this but with some murky headlines,Etv, Sowetanlive( Nigerians up in arms) and timeslive (dream wedding ended in tragedy),depriving the general public from voicing out.Obviously the Nigerian national was MURDURED by law enforcement agents but painting the picture of a drug dealer,in order to gain probable support from the public.
Also, the headlines were purposely posted in such way it won't point to murder nor to attract much international attention.
Its sad and very sad indeed.

Henry120: See this silly ghanaian woman, AFUA hirsch or what ever her name is. Her hate for nigeria would continue to give her nightmares. Her country ghana sent 120 electricians and plumbers to mali, while a tiny state like benin republic pledged 300 combat soldiers. Togo another tiny state, pledged 500 combat soldiers.

Nigeria pledged 1200 soldiers combat. nigerian air force quick response force AKA special forces sent 66 tavor-21 wielding paratroopers. The navy also sent a couple of their battle hardened special forces soldiers, SBS wielding state of the art tavor-21 assault weapon. Nigerian army special forces members were embedded with the troops from mali national army and senegal the first 2days of this war. let me also add that our troops are all kitted with made in nigeria hardware, the desert camo, the bullet proof vest and their ak-47/ AKM/ AK-74 rifles carried by our troops are made in nigeria. Our troops have the requisite training and experience to carry out their mission, have been trained by the best nigerian military trainers.

The airforce, in addition to the 66 special forces troops( paratroopers) already sent to mali, would also deploy MI-35p attack helicopters, MI-24hind and MI-17 terminator attack transport helicopters. 2 Alpha jets( up graded, up gunned and up armoured) have already been deployed, we read about the miracles NAF pilots did with their alpha jets aka "DUDU BIRDS" in SLR and liberia, just wait and see what they are going to do with these upgraded version. The airforce would also deploy G222 medium transport planes, 1 of our C-130 big birds, charlie would also be deployed. Our F-7's would also be deployed, a lot has been said about this bird, unfortunately all negative, however it is left for our pilots to use them in real combat in mali, then we can know for certain whether it is a good bird or not.

At the moment we do not know the the types of vehicles that would be deployed, but we are sure to see our OTOKA COBRA, and french made panhard ( also used by the french in mali) in mali. As for artillery pieces we do not know what would be deployed.

Nigeria has a total number of about 100 thousand troops, deploying 1200 troops to mali which has been a base camp for training terrorists who have killed 2900 nigerians since 2010 is the right thing to do. It is in our own interest to be proactive in mali, the FG has shown willingness to tackle this problem head on, since last year a couple of nigerian secret service (NIA) agents have been embedded in mali. This french intervention provides nigeria a quick, less expensive route in dealing with terrorists operating in nigeria from their base camp in mali. We have to tackle the root of the problem. The army over the last few months have succeeded in landing major blows on terrorist, we just have to carry on with the tempo. Pound them to obliteration, all terrorists must die.

We owe members of our armed forces a great debt of gratitude, it is true that some of them act like animals, but the action of a few cannot, should not cloud our judgement of the bravery of the majority. Thank you to all of them, GODS SPEED.

As for that silly ghanaian self hating m.oron afua hirsch, make she go look bush or watch p.or.n.
OMG. We got all those heavy war fare equipshuh what are they waiting for...smoke out those rag heads and come back west african heroes.Im so impressed with the "made in Nigerian gears" truly im impressed.

KANYI Dyantyi will not have the wedding she was looking forward to after her Nigerian-born fiancé died while in police custody in Cape Town earlier this month

Obinna Ugboaja's death has sparked the ire of the Nigerian community who marched to parliament on Friday demanding an end to police brutality against foreigners.

March organisers, the Nigerian Union in the Western Cape and Frontline Africa, argued that Nigerians were being targeted for brutal treatment by the police. They said in most cases brutality was swept under the carpet because of the false assumption that all Nigerians were criminals.

According to the Independent Complaints Directorate 2011/2012 annual report, 932 people died in police custody or as a result of police action.

The Nigerian Union wants the death of 32-year-old Ugboaja to be investigated and has opened a case at Cape Town Central police station. While police said they were investigating his death, grief- stricken Dyantyi, who met Ugboaja five years ago, remains in the dark about what led to his death.

"I really don't know exactly what happened. They took me to the mortuary where I found my husband dead. His mouth and neck were full of blood and he had marks on his neck, like he had been held hard.

"They said he had overdosed on cocaine. He didn't even smoke cigarettes."

Dyantyi said Ugboaja - who was a computer technician at First Coast Technologies and had been living in South Africa for seven years - left their Brooklyn home on the night of January 6 to meet friends in town.

She started worrying when he didn't come home and his phone went unanswered. After notifying his brother, Dyantyi took their one-year-old daughter to the police station where his car was parked.

But she was sent away with no answers.

"I waited for almost two-and-a-half hours. My baby was screaming. I didn't even know he was dead. They didn't tell me," she said.

When she returned the next morning, she was taken to the mortuary.

"Next year at Easter we were supposed to go to Nigeria to marry. His family is waiting. I don't work and I don't even know how we are going to pay to bury him," she said.

Independent Police Investigative Directorate spokesman Moses Dlamini said the matter was being investigated.

"If someone dies in police custody then we investigate," he said.

Azubuike Okparaugo, president of the Nigerian Union in the Western Cape, said it was irrelevant whether Ugboaja had been rightfully arrested or not.

"We were not marching to protest his innocence or his guilt. If he is guilty take him to court and give him a maximum sentence. Police are not the court of law," Okparaugo said, adding that the police conduct in Ugboaja's death should be investigated.

Police spokesman Captain FC van Wyk said an inquest docket has been opened into Ugboaja's death and the directorate was investigating the case.

I have six friends and family divorced this year
alone. Every single divorce was done by the
woman. This is a massive problem that is never
covered by any media. I was a great husband
and my wife told me over dinner that she was
moving out after 12 years of marraige and 3
kids. I later found out she had an affair. There
was no warning and I was left financially
destroyed. Today’s woman is very selfish and will
move heaven and earth and even ruin there own
children’s lives all for their happiness. I have seen
so many lives ruined because all of these women
divorcing their husbands. Some guys diserve it,
but no man is perfect. Women now have been
trained to think their lives will be better with
divorce. Nothing could be further from the truth.
All the women that divorced my friends and
family are living in povertly single with so many
shattered lives from their decision. Women have
to much power in a marraige and cause massive
destruction to the American family all because
their never ending search for happiness and
incredible selfishness. Don’t get married guys.

FamilyRe: Divorce Settlement And Child-Support Be Introduced In Nigeria? by jidewin(m): 10:00am On Jan 17, 2013
FXKing2012: The laws we have in Nigeria is fundamentally flawed; it is way too biased towards men.
Our laws enslave women who are forced to stay in a relationship/union even when they are not happy in it. Why should such continue?

Some say the divorce settlement law will encourage divorce therefore we should not implement it. I think that notion is very selfish and only meant to protect men even while enslaving and mistreating women.

We've seen cases where the man beats the wife daily, leaves her with permanent disabilities or even beat her to death. The women stay in such unions because our law does not protect them - doesnt necessarily mean they are happy in the marriage. So the fact that divorce rate is lower in Nigeria compared to the west does not mean we are happier in our relationships/marriages.

And when you try to defend the defenceless (women) you are termed a sissy. This shows how patriarchal our society really is.
Buddy, you seem to passionate about female empowerment, but unfortuantely, you're only seeing this settlement of a thing from one perspective. This settlement of a thing which is mostly favourable to women is grossly abused. It was an ancient law dated as far back as during the world wars when men were the ones working and earning while the women were not allowed to work and even vote, but were at home doing domestic chores. At divorce, she gets kicked out with nothing. As such,as a means of compensating them for their homely obligations, the "old Legal" system compensates them.Unfortuantely, with the waves of "feminist rights and movement" seeking equal gender rights, this law becomes abused, till date. A woman may marry now and next week files for divorce and make claims to whatever the man had, inclduing his pension and family inheritance. Appalling as this is,those at the helms of affairs were either too weak to look at possible amendments but rather capitalise on the gains of divorce settlements. Even to legal practitioners, divorce lawyers would do very little to discourage anyone from divorcing but do much more to let one party realise what to gain in a divorce. Besides, they the practitioners make more money with divorce cases that could take as long as 3 years to finalise. The longer the case, the more the financial advantage to the lawyers.
My dear,Now the rich women too are feeling the bite. if she earns much more than the husband, and there was no pre-nup before marriage, she loses her hard earned fruits of labour to some scheming bastards. Since the advent of this divorce settlement with more of the gains going to one party, divorce cases have and still rising tremendously.I put this to my naija sistas demanding for this law to be passed here.Imagine you the breadwinner,or earning far more than your man and your man had no job or lost one, after 6 months of marriage he files for divorce, demanding settlement accordingly, how would you reacthuhhohohohoh
FamilyRe: Divorce Settlement And Child-Support Be Introduced In Nigeria? by jidewin(m): 9:21am On Jan 17, 2013
Guys,you need to read this
How female breadwinners are 'losing out' in
divorce. www.telegraph.co.uk/women/sex/divorce/9592462/How-female-breadwinners-are-losing-out-in-divorce.html

Career women increasingly feel that they are
losing out in divorce settlements because courts
do not ask who does the housework, lawyers say.
One of the country’s leading family law firms says
increasing numbers of female breadwinners are
left feeling “aggrieved” when their less well paid
husbands walk away with more generous divorce
settlements.
Their biggest complaint is often that while they
have shouldered bigger financial burdens and
longer working hours than women in previous
generations, their husbands have failed to step in
to take on more of the responsibility on the
domestic front.
The result is that they feel they have been doing
“two jobs” – something the courts do not take
into account when dividing assets.
Solicitors at Pannone, based in London and
Manchester, say they have seen a threefold
increase in the number of female clients in
divorce cases who earn more than their husbands
in the last four years.
It follows a national trend with one recent study
estimating that there are now 2.7 million
households in which women are paid more than
men – something which is thought to have
increased fivefold in the space of a generation.
Fiona Wood, a partner in family law at Pannone –
which handles almost 400 divorces a year – said
many well-paid female clients feel their husbands
are being given an unfair share of the assets.
Couples' assets at the end of a marriage are
divided on the basis of equality with their various
needs taken into account.
Often the partner with the smaller salary can end
up with a larger share of the equity of their home
because they are judged to be less able to get a
mortgage to buy somewhere new to live.
“Both spouses will need rehousing and if the
husband’s income is lower than his wife’s, his
mortgage capacity will also be lower,” she
explained.
“He may therefore need more capital to enable
him to obtain a suitable property.”
“However, many women still find it hard to
believe that they will receive less than their
husbands when they divorce, especially when
they still seem to do the greater share of work
around the house.”
She went on: “The traditional image of the family
is that the wife and mother either doesn’t work or
doesn’t work very much and is at home looking
after the children.
“There are some complete reverses of that [with
the husband staying at home and the wife going
out to work].
“But there are a lot more where the husband is
working but he might not be earning the sort of
money that the wife is, perhaps without the same
pressure or the hours as the wife.
“At the same time, what the wives are saying to
me is ‘he didn’t really pull his weight at home, I
still had to go to work and then go home and
work at home'.
“They feel quite aggrieved that they have been
doing ‘two jobs’ yet they have not got any credit
for it.”

Even heard some guys abroad resort to "african remote control" from home, the moment yankee wife begin show "I GAT RIGHTS".
God help us all.The world have changed the meaning of marriage completely.

''In the 1940's, with penicillin as an established cure for syphilis, the US decided to test out its effectiveness on Guatemalan citizens.

To do this, they used infected prostitutes and let them loose on unknowing prison inmates, insane asylum patients and soldiers. When spreading the disease through prostitution didn't work as well as they'd hoped, they instead went for the inoculation route.

Researchers poured syphilis bacteria onto mens' joysticks and on their forearms and faces. In some cases, they even inoculated the men through spinal punctures.

After all the infections were transmitted, researchers then gave most of the subjects treatment, although as many as 1/3 of them could have been left untreated, even if that was the intention of the study in the first place.

On October 1, 2010, Hilary Clinton apologized for the events and new research has gone on to see if anyone affected is still alive and afflicted with syphilis. Since many subjects never got penicillin, its possible and likely that someone spread it to f*ture generations.

Obasanjo who was thanking God for His mercies over the country, said despite the bombings and other dangerous activities of the sect, he believes, the country would achieve peace.

“ on Boko Haram, I know we will get there very soon,’’Obasanjo said.

While speaking on the alleged mismanagement the country’s resources, Obasanjo said, “God has been extra generous to Nigeria, many nations of the world are not as richly endowed as the country.’’

He however urged Nigerian leaders to harness the country’s endowments for the transformation of the nation.

“I believe good people who will be able to manage it will come, maybe later. But the earlier we are there, the better and I am sure we will be there.

“We will be there because God has been kind to us, we only need to be kind to ourselves. God will help us.

‘’God has been kind to us, we need to be kind to ourselves,” he said.

FamilyRe: Dressing Kids In Short Clothings: How Appropriate? (Picture) by jidewin(m): 9:38pm On Dec 26, 2012
anitank: Seriously I would hate to sound like some old fashioned lady here because that is so on the contrary..... but would you have your 6 year old girl dressed up like that (which I didn't really take seriously), and then posing for the camera with her butt popped out from behind, pouting like that? Isn't that going to start getting the attention of guys who would think she's hot(which sometimes lead to child molestation and ra-pe)huh
Dear Anitank,Thank you for raising this. Many future generations are been destroyed out of carefree attitude( I gat rights) which subjects our children to molestation and the likes.I am also seizing this opportunity to inform my countrymen abroad, not all characters displayed and presented by the westerners are worth emulating.Look at South Africa for example, popular known as the rape capital of the world. The women, old and young capitalize on summer to wear provocative revealing clothings all in the name of I GAT RIGHTS, and what do they end up with...highly infatuated boys and men of low esteem, who devours them.
Swaziliand governement recently banned their women from wearing micro mini and low waist jean in the PUBLIC,guess what South Africans thinks and assume, They (Swazis are primitive).Do not encourage your children, especially the female ones be exposed to such provocative dressing as ealry as the ones we saw in the photos for example. These children are innocent and unaware of the consequences their delicate exposed bodies could do to men of low esteem. They are everywhere.
Take this from a concerned parent.

The Nigerian movies and music industry,to me have been the major force in rebranding Nigerias image abroad. From satellite Tvs to clubs and radio stations, Nigerian products cannot be "thrashed".I have been an avid witness to this, when you are listening to Dbanjs ''Oliver twist", flavour's ''Ashawo", P-square "roll it",etc on major radio stations.

I just keep praying this worthy ambassadors wont be engage in "get rich quick runs" most criminal elements have accepted as their only option and means oto live.

PoliticsRe: Why Are Nigerians In Diaspora So Bitter? by jidewin(m): 11:13am On Oct 06, 2012

Seems that our Naija brother is suffering from SELECTIVE AMNESIA!

How did you forget to mention the thousands of Nigerians in the same U.K who are Doctors, Engineers, Computer Scientists, Lawyers, e.t.c (qualified professionals!)

Even the Otedolas, Jim Ovias, Dangotes, that you mention.......all have "Homes" in these foreign countries, HOMES where they come to get "real rest of mind" from the chaos that is Nigeria!
wink wink

All those peeps you mention up there are very proud Nigerians!

They do Nigeria more good than the hordes of yahoo-yahoo "locals" that send thousands of E-mails to foreigners, looking for a way to scam them!

They work hard and they get paid.
At an average of 500GBP/week (2,000GBP monthly = #500,000 averagely), how many of your local champions who don "suit and tie" in the burning sun, earn just #200,000 monthly?.
Or is it not that same country where the "dream of a University Graduate" is to DRIVE a "DANGOTE TRAILER"? grin grin

If most Nigerians are as diligent as those people you mention, our image would not be this bad world-wide......and the culprits are those millions of unemployed youths in Nigeria, who are just desperate to survive.

I would rather be a street sweeper in U.S, than be a "Kidnapper or Ritualist" in Nigeria! shocked shocked
I would rather wash Easton station in U.K than "steal money" meant for a Children's hospital in Nigeria, to live like a big-man in Nigeria!

There is always dignity in labor, "Oole lo'bomo je"!

Granted, a Nigerian is a Nigerian, whether home or abroad.
This "differentiation" is a waste of energy and completely stewpid!

Everyone, local and abroad, should contribute something to the betterment of our country.
It seems the real bitter people (for reasons l still cant fathom) are those that accuse Nigerians in Diaspora, as being bitter.
I remember that Dora Akinyuli also said the same thing, like two years ago (the woman has suddenly become a multi-millionaire and Governorship aspirant, after working in Government for a few years!..Hmmmm)

Most "Diasporeans" come home regularly, we even bring our kids home on holidays, yet someone says "they are stuck abroad"? We build houses in Nigeria, we "invite" family members for visits, we have "well funded" account in Nigeria.....yet they say we are bitter? huh huh
Bitter over what? The very few Nigerians that loot the treasury and live large? Or those that use fellow humans in money rituals? What is there to envy in "blood money"?
Most of you guys are just suffering from DELUSION OF GRANDEUR!

Diasporeans are not bitter, we are just unhappy with our folks back home, who fulfill the "cave man's theory"!
Until you leave the confines of the cave, you may never know that "light" exist outside.
We are unhappy that despite all the natural resources and man-power we have, we are one of the poorest people on earth!
Wetin sef?

No need to beef each other, we s should all work for the greatness of our country.

Bruv, i need not say much. You've said it all.An adage says..."If you have never left your fathers compound,to see someone elses, you will continue in the delusion your fathers is the largest." Thank You !!!
