LOL

Upon all our foreign exchange dumped into their country, they just want to collect and not pay back. What is the use of schooling in UK if you cannot get a UK working experience before coming back to Nigeria.

NIgeria should just limit UK cert especially those without working experience, this will make going to UK less attractive
You are on point. They just want your money. Come spend your money and leave is their mantra. Don't mind this white blokes. They want UK to remain white. No multi-culturalism or any of those fluffy words. You don't see them extending the ban to other European countries who actually constitute the largest number of immigrants. It is simply targeted at South Asians (Indians, Pakistanis), Arabs and Africans.

chai!!! 55 years embarassed

people still believe in "shortcut to success"

What you worked for with your two hands and sweat will definitely last forever.....
While their crime deserves some punishment, 55 years for smuggling small quantities of drug is excessive. How many years would a murderer get? Three to five years would have been sufficient punishment to make them have a rethink. And if they continue, then the courts can scale up the punishment to 10 - 15 years.

Why waste a young person's life for smuggling a few kilos of hard drugs? They need to be rehabilitated, not put away for life. Our laws are so out of date. The judges metting out this punishments lack basic common sense. Where are they going to house these people? Is it in that colonial era Enugu prison that is a death trap? What about our politicians that steal billions everyday? Has any of them gone to jail?

Americans call this behaviour "Uncle Tom" or a "house nigger." It means a black person who mistreats their own kind in order to please the white man. The White man will never allow their countryman to be extradited to another country.

When was the last time you heard of an American being extradited to another country, or you don't think they commit serious crimes. There are more Americans in American jail than Nigerians in jail Nigeria.

I understand what you are going through. I myself was in a similar situation.
There really isn't anything wrong with dating someone in the church except of course you don't want to be known as the church LovePeddler. The church is a microcosm of the larger society. If you as a woman have experience with men who only want to sleep with you and nothing else, you are very likely to meet the same men in church.

With that said, I would say exercise the same caution you do with men you meet inside the church as you do outside the church. As much as the church is supposed to be a place you come to connect with God, it also serves as a social setting where people meet and form friendships, relationships and sometimes marriages.

♍ƺ think its only ladies that would fall for that, how can a full grown man fret @ the sight of a monkey. Different stroke for different folks sha.
That baboon has the strength of ten big men. He was smart not to release the animal because it would have maimed a lot of people. Only a gun can stop that animal.

Some years ago, a woman in Connecticut, USA kept a baboon like that as a pet. The owner, who was widowed will bath the animal and even give him wine to drink. One day, the animal started acting up. So the woman asked her female friend to come over and help her calm the animal down. At the site of the friend, the animal went berserk and attacked the friend. The animal ripped the woman's friends face off that she had to have a face transplant. It took several gun shots by the police to put the animal down.

Genieve fine can you marry her?@Guys
She has the problem that many single women, who are financially well-off have, they can't find mates that match their financial status. Instead they attract guys who need financial help. So don't blame the girl for remaining single.

Most financially well-off men look for women who will be dependent on them. Men are scared of women who are financially independent. What does a man do for a woman who has everything? Do you buy her a Range Rover for her birthday when she already has one in the garage?

Even a Dangote would avoid marrying a woman who is financially independent.

"It is the type of failed and disorganized system our leaders have built..."

Jim Nwobodo was former governor of the old Anambra State and a former Nigerian Senator. He was part of the disfunctional system that lead to the death of his son. All he did while in office was accumulate wealth and power. How many people did Jim Nwobodo directly or kill when he was a governor? I remember he had tugs terrorizing the state at the time.

May his son's soul rest in peace. He didn't bring the illness upon himself, but his father is not an innocent bystander.
SportsRe: US Embassy Ruins Blessing Okagbare’s Honeymoon by john650(m): 4:43pm On Nov 21, 2014
stevecrun:
People always feel and think Abuja embassy is easier..but he got turned down..Try Lagos consulate.
I don't think there reason for refusing him visa has anything to do with what embassy or consulate he went to or the person that interviewed him.

The US has a quota system of how many immigrants or visitors from a given country they can allow into their country on a given year under different visa classifications.

If he had applied for an immigrant visa as a husband of a U.S resident (green card holder), there is a backlog of up to 10 years. Yes, it is that bad and they are not going to move him to the top of the line because of who his wife is. Now, if his wife were a U.S citizen, the wait could have been much shorter, no more than six months to one year.

And if she were a U.S. citizen and had applied for her hubby to come over as a fiance of a U.S citizen, (I.e delaying marriage until he gets there), he would have been there in less than six months.

Blessing and her hubby didn't plan their trip well. They should have asked questions or hired an American immigration attorney to explain the loopholes in the system before approaching the embassy. As it stands now, that dude is not going to America anytime soon for the simple reason that there are millions of people ahead of him in different countries all over the world waiting on a queue for their turn.
BusinessRe: Naira Now 172 Naira To A Dollar. Why? by john650(m): 10:18am On Nov 15, 2014
atlwireles:
There's no need wasting the reserves supporting the Naira. Allow the currency, find its true value. The implications are less today, than they were years back. Nigeria has a strong growing non oil export market, this will only help that sector.
I don't agree with you. Even the world's economic powers from time to time support their currencies from free falling for different reasons. It could be political or because of trade with other countries. So there is no such thing as allowing ones currency to float and find it's true value. If we did, we would soon find ourselves carrying barrow loads of our currency for basic transactions.

Akshow: confirmed news. I heard this zakzaky followers that wear black took to the streets ready to cause chaos in demonstrations for their Muslims brothers killed in Gaza. very hilarious but true.

so soldiers were deployed around the city to keep them calm.

My question is should we term their erratic behavior as stupidity, ignorance or just plainly silly? Have they protested for their muslim brothers killed in kaduna boko haram blast two days ago? No! But they have the strength to protest over a war thousands of miles away in another country. They are indeed very foooolish. Abeg make them give them visa go Gaza go riot.
These people consider themselves Muslims first, Arabs second and Nigerians last. What a sad state we find ourselves in. Can the UN and the big powers help us partition Nigeria so the religious fanatics can have their wish.

TravelRe: Is It Advisable To Settle In The United Kingdom After Studies by john650(m): 1:53pm On Dec 30, 2013
claremont: I wouldn't advice any international student to come to the UK at the moment, especially those who have plans to settle here. This is because of the current hostile immigration climate. You would be better off going to places like Canada, USA, or Australia where they have a much more friendly immigration policies.
Who told you the USA has a more friendly immigration policy? Go ask the unofficial 11 million or so illegal immigrants residing in the USA, whose chances of ever getting a permanent residency is as good as finding a needle in a haystack. I forgot to mentiion that the USA removes about half a million people every year who have no papers to reside in the country. And there are countless of others held in detention facilities awaiting deportation. And if you happen to scale all these, pervacive racial discrimination awaits you in the workplace.

Foreign AffairsRe: Reasons Why A Diplomatic Solution To The Syrian Crisis Is Unlikely by john650(m):
I dont know why u.s and its allies hate syria so much to the estent of spreadind false flag news about assad regime. Lets think wisely and deeply: why is u.s funding those rebels/false jihadists in syria, while they are fighting those in other countries. How comes like this?

The drumbeat of war is being driven by the ambitions of AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee). For those who don't know what AIPAC is, it is the lobbying arm of Israeli and Jewish interest in Washington. They have a lot of influential American politicians in their pocket. The US Congress is filled with Americans of Jewish descent, who belong to AIPAC. Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham, though not of Jewish ancestry, are basically fronts for AIPAC. To oppose AIPAC is to loose election. There are also a lot of leading American businessmen of Jewish descent who fund the activities of AIPAC. By their positioning and strong influence over American foreign policy, virtually all American Presidents dating back to Dwight Eisenhower answer to them.

So to answer your question, AIPAC, and by extension the US government believes that the only way Israel will ever have peace in the Middle East is to ensure that Israel remains the strongest nation in the region. And to accomplish this, they have to weaken every nation state that poses a direct threat to the State of Israel. It also means that sometimes the US has to work and support the enemy (rebels/jihadists) to accomplish its goal. Trust me, the relationship is only temporary as we have witnessed in Libya. As the Chinese Xinxua Government News Agency succinctly stated back in February 2013, "the United States is hiding a dagger behind a smile. In other words, while they appear to be acting out of humanitarian concern for the people of Syria, they are actually harboring hegemonistic ambitions."

Car TalkRe: The Best Tyre For Nigerian Roads by john650(m): 7:37pm On Jul 30, 2013
Observator: Your choice of Tyre should consider safety as the primary focus. Many Tyres are good but you must beware of imitations. Hence, you must buy from credible source. cheers
That's right, safety should be the operative word when shopping for a tyre. Things to lookout for is the date of manufacture, tread wear number, temperature resistance, speed symbol, maximum load capacity and traction.

The date of the manufacture is important for the buyer to determine its expiry date, which is normally four or five years depending on the brand. The manufacturing date is represented by four figures on the side wall of the tyre. The first two digits indicate the week of the year while the last two digits stand for the year. Tread wear number indicates the tyre’s wear rate. The higher the tread wear number is, the longer it should take for the tread to wear down. For example, a tyre graded 400 should last twice longer than a tyre graded 200. The temperature resistance, which is represented by letters “A,” “B “or “C,”indicates a tyre’s resistance to heat. Letter “A” is suitable for hot climate. Letter “B’ is meant for normal weather areas and while “C” is for cold areas. M+S is used to indicate that a tyre is suitable for mud and snowy terrains. It is popular in Nigeria and the SON said that it is appropriate for the Nigerian roads.

repogirl: She did sound arrogant and overbearing, almost as if she was the interviewer sef. Me no like. :\

Fame does mess with people's brains sha, imagine her saying the best works from Africa are in her inbox. SMH, so not nice belittling other people's hardwork like that.
I read about an interview she gave at a book signing at a bookstore in Lagos some years ago. The interview was published by the defunct 234Next Newspaper. A young man who was amazed by her successes in the literary world and her beauty approached her and gave her compliments for being "brain and beauty." What would happen next was what I least expected from a literary icon, or someone the younger ones looked up to. Her response in verbatim was as follows:

“You know, there is something borderline sexist about that. That women who are beautiful do not have a brain, the idea that beautiful women cannot be intelligent.”

I thought to myself, was that comment really necessary? The young man paid her a complement and stated the obvious. Most women would have been delighted with the compliments. What does she do instead? She goes into rant, embarrassing the young man. Ever since then, I've looked at her in a different light. I think this chic has issues with men; another Gloria Steinem. she is, a "b***h on a power trip." Expect more gaffes from her in the future, which will expose her for what she is.
