Christianity EtcRe: Should The 80's And 90's Kids Also Keep Quiet And Accept These Religious Lies? by joyousever(f): 2:50pm On Dec 29, 2018
Bassey, your write-up is quite expository & educative. But in as much as religious bigotry/over-zealousness abounds in our country without any form of repentance & living rightly, I still believe in Jesus. I believe he's alive and also the Holy Spirit. This is becos the name of Jesus has worked for me in different ways. And back then in Cally, in my former church, the pastor preached on igniting the Holy Spirit in us by asking Him what we want. That night, be4 going to bed, I prayed & asked the Holy Spirit to wake Me at 6 am. Behold, I later felt a very calm & extrordinary light tap. And when I woke up and checked the time it was sharp 6 am. Right from dat day my faith increased.
iamvictorbassey:
CASE STUDY
If I am in Qatar and I'm told that hitting my head on the ground daily is what brings wealth, I will easily give in owing to the huge mass of wealth such a country has. So tell me how Nigerian Christians will convince me into believing that wealth can be likened to Christians? When majority of Church goers live in slums yet claim to know so much.

If I go to India, formerly one of the world's poorest country, and I'm told that worshiping a cow/statue can make me produce Bajaj, keke Napep, motorcycles, Inverters, fans, Tata, Jaguar cars and so on. I will easily be moved to believe, because I have seen their currency grow to Rs63 per $1USD.

If I go to the next big thing about to hit the world "China", and I'm told that worshiping dragons can make me with a population of over 3billion people be a global center for commerce, just like Nigeria ought to be in Africa which unfortunately we aren't, I will easily believe.

The only thing that will stand in my way of choosing whom to believe is the fact that I find one thing in common amongst all of the above named countries except Nigeria, which is HARD (SMART) WORK. That is the only thing that is prevalent in all of these countries. That is the only element missing in Nigeria.

Nigeria has no credible research centre whether owned by the Government. Church, Mosque or Individual. But we have prayer houses, churches and mosques scattered all over.
Nigeria is the only country that wants to pray technology to reality. Hahahaha.
We are no longer satisfied with the Sunday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday Church programmes, we now have Home Cells in almost every area.
I hope this religions will produce food, jobs, clothes, shelther and security for our children unborn. Dont forget that children born in the year 2000 will be 18years this year.

Meet an average Nigerian, talk to him for 10minutes, the next thing he/she is trying to decipher is your religion and your tribe.
When is excellence going to lead the way? Rather than sentiments?
When are we going to have a country where people who qualify will lead irrespective of their religious leanings, tribe, regalia, hairstyle, complexion, gender, etc?

Until then we will not go anywhere, neither will Africa. Because almost all African countries look up to Nigeria.

So I ask again, are we going to believe all those lies of this world not being our home? Or are we the 80'and 90's kids going to stand up and lay our beds?

My hatred for fresh or boiled fish is legendary. In fact, when once I notice a cup used by a person who just ate fresh fish, I won't use it for sometime. The smell is what I can't stand
I also dislike jollof rice, unfried beef & soft eba.

To each their own. Donald Duke's wife is about two-three years older than him, but she looks way younger & fresher than him. Been married for decades & still waxing strong. Two of their kids are even married. So age shouldn't be a big deal in going for whom you attracted to, as long as the age gap isn't so glaring on the part of the woman. Looking good & younger is dependent on good health & maintenance. And some people genetically look younger than their age, reason why it wouldn't be easy to figure out their real age even if they end up with a younger partner.
Nairaland GeneralRe: What Are Your Regrets For This Year? by joyousever(f): 6:46am On Dec 26, 2018
All these have happened already. Learn from the mistakes & dust yourself out of them. Let the past be gone & never beat yourself up because of it. We've all made mistakes, had regrets & have come out stronger due to the life lessons derived from them. So just move on & deliberately/ consciously erase the bitter/sour taste from your mouth. A new year/dawn is just by the corner, embrace it with all joy & say good bye to the past with a hilarious laughter. Life is too short. Cheers!
kowalsky:
Well. Good year all in all. But seen better.

Major regrets.

Having sex with a girl I didn't love. Been celibate for over two years by choice. Then came this girl and I fell to her antics.

First time. Second time. And each time I felt like Samson getting his hair shaved. There's this thing about sex and I know it extends way past the rubato thrusting.

Luckily. Third time I got over the urge and turned her down. Then played down our friendship. Still know I had lost something.

I cared (and still care) too much about people. Both friends and people I don't even know. It's a deep flaw that almost always over shoots my budget. Spent quite a lot attending to needs that were never my concern.

Expectedly my finances right now are piss poor. My uncharacteristic frugality this year added to this too.

This happened quite a while. But strangely only this year did I start feeling regretful. I hate that I let my ex have much control over my feelings. Regret that I trusted her too much. Regret that I made myself overly vulnerable to her.

When the memories of the many things she did and I tolerated come to mind. I literally feel like flogging myself.

All I can remember for now smiley

Hello! Does it mean if one does not have this much (400k) one can't start up?
ynotsadeek:
Here's my own 2kobo advice;

Start Agency Banking Business.

I'll share my own story to help you get a better idea.

I schooled in Delta and served in Kwara. After service I simply stayed behind cos I knew I had nothing to go back to in Delta.

My PPA then happened to be so far from main town, with transportation cost averagely about #700 to and from from the town.

So, I saw the opportunity in this, which was;

1. No banks in my PPA community.
2. Tfare to and fro from the nearest bank in town is about 700h
3. Good power supply in the community
4. Free accommodation as per I was a good Corper during my service year so I had good relationship with the school I served and the indigenes.

Hence, I rented a shop. 1,500h per month, bought 3 plastic chairs, printed 2 banners and with my Android phone I was in business.

Next I registered as an Agent with several agency banking companies, installed their App and started doing Cash Withdrawals/Deposits/Transfers, Dstv sub payments, Airtime sales, NEPA prepaid payments. I don't even have POS machine yet oo, just using my Android phone for now.

In all I spent about 30k to setup, and with savings of 400k, I had enough cash for those coming to withdraw.

Right now I make about 3k daily from service charges and I work even on Sundays.

I hope this helps. It's 3:30a.m here so its back to bed now. I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have.

zicoraads:
I admire your ability to save that money from your income. That being said, be careful. The pieces of advice littered on Page 1, some are genuine, some; not so much.

My major concern is how you could stay in a job for 20k for that long.

How long did your friend give you to pack out?! And what degree do you have?

You may want to think about acquiring some certifications in your teaching line that are very useful for other schools that recognize the value of teaching. I know most big schools in Abuja and Lagos pay up to 120k for a start, in addition to other allowances. I can direct you to some free ones online that you can even do with a mobile phone. Most of these big schools in Abuja also give accommodation for their staff. I am certain big schools in Lagos also do.

I know accommodation in Abuja, areas like Lugbe, Kubwa, Zuba etc. have very low houses that are around 100k. I don't know about Lagos. But I'm sure it should be same.

Then take the Uber and Taxify option.

But that one should be for when you have closed from school (maybe from 8:00 PM - 2:00 AM). Because you'll need to look sharp and rested for work that starts at 7:00AM.

Lessons in Abuja pay as much as 8k per contact or even more. They don't do monthly, they do contact. So opportunities still exist for teachers, but you must be very good at what you do.

Combine both the teaching and Uber. With time, you will even abandon one for the other.

Christianity EtcRe: The Matter Of Tithing: My Personal Encounter With The Bible by joyousever(f): 11:32am On Dec 24, 2018
So well said! But some tithe apologists will turn a blind eye to this reality that the New Testament advocates.
Jeepi:
Why Tithing Is Not Required Today
There are seven decisive reasons for saying Christians are not required to
tithe.
1. Believers are no longer under the Mosaic covenant (Rom. 6:14–15;
7:5–6; Gal. 3:15–4:7; 2 Cor. 3:4–18).
The commands stipulated in the Mosaic covenant are no longer in force
for believers. Some appeal to the division between the civil, ceremonial,
and moral law to support tithing. Yet these divisions, I would observe, are
not the basis Paul uses when addressing how the law applies to us
today. And even if we use these distinctions, tithing is clearly not part of
the moral law. It’s true the moral norms of the Old Testament are still in
force today, and we discern them from the law of Christ in the New
Testament, but tithing is not among these commands.
2. The examples of Abraham and Jacob are not normative patterns.
Some think tithing is required because both Abraham and Jacob gave a
tenth, and they both lived before the Mosaic covenant was in place. Such
examples hardly prove tithing is for all time, however. Abraham’s gift to
Melchizedek was a one-time event; there is no evidence he regularly gave
God a tenth.
Jacob’s giving of a tenth signified his gratefulness to God for promising
to be with him and to protect him. His gratefulness and generosity still
speak to us today, but a historical description of what Jacob gave doesn’t
support the idea that all believers must give God a tenth of their income.
3. Tithes were given to the Levites and priests, but there are no Levites
and priests in the new covenant.
Levites and priests were tied to the sacrificial system of the old
covenant. Now all believers are priests (1 Pet. 2:9; Rev. 1:6; 5:10; 20:6),
with Jesus as our Melchizedekian high priest (Heb. 7).
4. The tithe is tied to the land Israel received under the old covenant.
Israel was supposed to celebrate a tithe every three years in Jerusalem.
But that requirement cannot apply to Christians today. It related to the
Jews as a nation—to Jews who lived in the land of promise. With the
coming of Christ, the Jewish nation is no longer the locus of God’s
people, though individual Jews are part of the church through faith in
Jesus.
The earthly Jerusalem is no longer central in God’s purposes (Gal. 4:25).
Believers are part of the heavenly Jerusalem (Gal. 4:26) and look forward
to the city to come (Heb. 11:10), to the new heavens and new earth
(Rev. 21:1–22:5). Abraham isn’t heir of the land of Israel, but of the
whole world (Rom. 4:13).
5. If tithing is required today, how much should we give?
As noted above, the number was certainly more than 10 percent and
closer to 20 percent. Those who advocate tithing should probably settle
on 20 percent.
6. When Jesus affirmed the tithe, it was before the dawn of the new
covenant.
Some defend tithing by saying Jesus praised tithing, even if he said it
was less important than other things (Matt. 23:23; Luke 11:42). This
argument appears strong, but it’s not persuasive. Jesus also mentioned
offering sacrifices in the temple (Matt. 5:23–24), but Christians don’t
think—even if the temple were rebuilt—that we should do that. Our Lord’s
words are understandable when we think about his location in redemptive
history.
Jesus spoke about sacrifices and tithing before the cross and resurrection,
before the dawn of the new covenant. He used tithing and sacrifices as
illustrations when addressing his contemporaries. He kept the law since
he was “born under the law” (Gal. 4:4). But we can no more take his
words as a commendation for tithing today than we can his words about
offering sacrifices.
7. Nowhere is tithing mentioned when commands to give generously are
found in the New Testament.
When Christians are instructed to give to the poor, they aren’t
commanded to give “the poor tithe.” Instead, they are instructed to be
generous in helping those in need (Acts 2:43–47; 4:32–37; 11:27–30; Gal.
2:10; 1 Cor. 16:1–4; 2 Cor. 8:1–9:15). For example, 1 Corinthians 16:1–4
—a passage often cited in popular circles in support—doesn’t mention
tithing; it relates to a one-time gift for poor saints in Jerusalem.
Give Generously
Even though tithing isn’t required today, it does not follow that believers
should hoard their possessions.
We are commanded to support those who preach the gospel (Matt.
10:10; Luke 10:7; 1 Cor. 9:6–14; 1 Tim. 5:17–18). And while we should
enjoy the good things God gives us, we are also called to be generous to
those in need (1 Tim. 6:17–19; 2 Cor. 8–9). Wealth can so easily become
an idol, leading us to abandon the Lord.
Since God is to be our treasure, believers are to give generously and
freely. For many in the West, this will mean giving more than 10 percent.
Still, Scripture doesn’t command Christians to give a tenth—and Scripture,
not tradition, is our rule and authority.

CELEBRANT WEEPING

Two years ago, JESUS' asked one question from me which I would like to share with you as you are preparing for Christmas.

It was during Christmas celebration. The
vision was very clear.

JESUS' asked me, my son, assuming you were invited to a birthday party and you met the celebrant weeping, what would you do?

I was shocked and could not answer, Celebrant weeping?

JESUS' began to speak. I am the celebrant that you christians are celebrating my birthday every year. Each year, you increase my agony and tears during this Christmas celebrations because of your hypocrisy.

Many of you don't even know me. The few that I can boast of are living lives of disobedient.

Holiness among my children is now a taboo. Righteousness, Sanctification, restitution and other sound Biblical doctrines had disappeared among you and you still gather to eat food and sing sinful songs to me. Is that how to celebrate my birthday?

Pastors are now spiritual 419.These so called pastors got power from Satan to do my work, yet you will see them gathering crowds to sing Carol. Why would I not weep.?

Burying human beings on the alter, going about with charms. Is that what I instructed them to do ?

Sleeping with church members is not a new thing among the so called ministers. All kinds of programs are organized by different churches with one purpose and agenda-to raise money.

My son, there are mega churches, mega instruments and mega population without any disciple among the congregation. Are these not wasted efforts?

Churches are building cathedrals everyday without candidates of heaven among the worshippers.

Why are you celebrating my birthday when there is no unity and love among my children? Why are you celebrating my birthday when your worship centres are being guided by herbalists because of the mundane things inside the building? Are you saying I am powerless that I can't protect what belongs to me?

unclothedness is more visible in my churches than club houses.

My Son, Evangelism is dead and buried. What u are doing now is member snatching. Nobody is ready to go to fertile ground anymore.

JESUS' said many things in that vision that I could not remember again.I've shared this revelation in my sermon and among my people.

Are you among those people that are making JESUS' to weep every Christmas?Think about it.

JESUS' is on his way already. You don't need to be told d happenings in Israel,Palestine and other places.

I pray for everybody now,u and I will not miss rapture in the Name of JESUS'.
