manny4life: Those asking him to increase his income, if you cannot manage $100, what makes you believe he will manage $1,000? Management is key, this is what separates the U.S. and China today. China is a saving economy no matter how small their citizens earn while U.S. is a spending/credit economy no matter how big their average earners are and Nigeria is gradually copying their template.
it is not meant exactly that way some people make money outside their salary, by so doing, the salary becomes savings.

Can someone help me out on what to do and also share with me any story of yours that can help?
you forgot that most inspirational books are fictions written to entertain you not necessarily to be applied, some of them have no real workability in the real sense of life.
about savings, forget it, just increase your income.
Its a pity that the giant of africa does not have lights. Only 4000MW for 160m people, No, that's bad. It will take nigeria 20yrs to go to 20 000MW.

Nigeria must try to partner with other countries to increase their capacity. Or buy electricity to other countries.

Or they can arrange with South Africa, South africa produces power more than the rest of africa combined. 45 000MW, and they are building two extra power plants to a cost of $50 Billion, those two power plant will add up another 9800MW, which means their capacity will go to 55 000 MW.

South africa can transmit power to nigeria, via Angola, Congo, Gabon, Cameroon then to nigeria. They sell Electricity to most Southern african countries, like Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia, Botswana, lesotho, Malawi, tanzania, even DRC.
at least a brain has refused to be bamboozled.
first, bro jo must admit he has failed in that regards. he should do what is honorable by apologising to Nigerians for the pack of deceptions he has been feeding us.
perhaps the next govt. will investigate the fraud in the power sector and bring some economic terrorists to book.

Sincere 9gerian: Now that power generation dropped due to temporary systemic collapse, the reasons were clearly identified. Hopefully, when those things are sorted out and power generation peaks agains, mischief makers will not attribute improvement in power supply to RISING WATER LEVEL at the dams.

Just to add that, power supply here has been awful in the last few days. It appears the 4days blackout announced by PHCN due to maintenance work on certain gas supply lines to some power plants affected more states than anticipated.

jidegirl12: So cos I'm married I should disconnect/ unfriend my loyal male friends? Did you just say the bolded or you're joking?
i agree completely with that guy you quoted above, don't misconstrue my position if you are a woman.

lemme be honest with you, 95% of the so called casual friends women keep are mostly admirers who could not get or still aspiring to get a piece of her cake.

I for one strongly believe that it takes an event to bond in friendship, if they are not colleagues, church members, neighbors etc, the tendency is that he has his agenda.

most ladies don't agree with this simple fact as such when the so called friend makes it obvious they tend to be disappointed.
it is more sardonic for a married woman because by virtue of marriage, her sole close buddy is the man who is providing for her.

i tell you what, most ladies don't draw the lines to be honest with you, if a man ask you out and you say "no vacancy".

what does he do? he continues calling and being friendly, the girl now reciprocates the friendship and the guy continues pushing, the girl at the back of her mind knows that process may spur the guy to be doing some interim spending and sundry outings, the girl tells her friends that the guy is aware she has someone, and the girl's boyfriend is coerced to accept the loser as a "friend", the big question is: what on earth do you need the distraction for in your rel.ship?

in no distant time, she will start comparing the loser who is poised to collect his share of her national cake with a boyfriend of 3yrs, forgetting that the former is only trying to create an impression to hit and run. she gives up her rel.ship for the false guy, 3 months on, the guy dumps her, the cycle continues.

i challenge every girl who have the so called "friend", to create a compromising ambiance for him and see if he will not fall for it. the bottom line is, a friend will chop if given the opportunity, why keep them?

yea, i know the other part where they say he is nice, help them out in diff. situations, bla bla bla. bad news; he is just a sore loser who ran out of ideas.

there is no casual friendship between a man and a woman, what is there for them is marriage, no intermediate, though we like deceiving ourselves.

"i wont date you but we can be friends" lol does it sound familiar? rubbish!!!

let us look at the average lifestyle of a bachelor and juxtapose with that of a spinster and see how viable that friendship is;

he closes from work, dashes off to hang out with buddies, gist and watch football, the lady goes home to cook and sit at home, weekend activities are entirely opposite, while you are busy with premiership, she is busy painting hands and legs,
while you are at car wash, she is arranging seats in church or shouting OMG!! in a cinema,

it takes someone you have affection for to give up your routine passion not some casual friend, it doesn't work that way, call her to come and eat "Nkwobi", she will dive at the offer but rem. that it has nothing to do with friendship but someone is just catching fun on your acct. guys shine your eyez!!!

things you like i don't, things i like you don't, what kinda friends are wehuh?

there is compromise in dating and marriage between opposite sex, that luxury is what casual friends cant afford.

what drives casual friendship is just interest, while the woman is hoping that she will eat you down while you are at the chase, the guy is hoping that one day the girl will change her mind, most losers wait for so long and forget their mission in the end.

it is either you have business with her, dating her, fvcking her or married to her. the rest na wash.

most women sleep with their "friends" that is a fact.

even internet virtual friends are blessed overtime, so wots the fuss?

LoveAmaka88: In this world of STI's and fatherless children, it's not wise to have such casual behavior. It causes so many problems for so many people. By the first date, do you know the person's health history? family status? emotional stability level? criminal history? Why risk your life and your safety? It might be inconvenient to wait, but it's more inconvenient to raise a child with a difficult person or take medications everyday. The experience can also be mentally and emotionally taxing.

Just stop and think about consequences. . .

ocman: During my wild days in the university nine years ago I had a brief fling with a guy I met through a friend. We had séx a few times and saw each other for about a month before we lost touch.

Fast forward eight years later; my immediate younger sister introduced this same guy to me as her boyfriend. I was hoping they would break up so he wouldn't be an issue between my sister and I but that didn't happen.

A year later, they are getting married. Their wedding is actually this Saturday December 15th. There's serious friction between the guy and I as we can't even look at each other or talk directly to each other.

I have been avoiding him since he hooked up with my sister but now that they are about to be married, I'm stuck.
Should I tell my sister what happened between us or leave things the way they are? Does she have a right to know?

I'm confused. Pls help!!!

emalekuo: Personally I would only give up my child for adoption as a last resort. Explore all options like your parents the fathers parents uncles and aunties or even your church. Not every one enjoying today got the best care when they were babies and not everyone that got the best care as babies are enjoying today. The family option seems better because you intend taking your child back. As a poster said children are blessings from God. You can guarantee getting a future husband but you certainly can't tell if you gonna have another child so I say keep your baby. I know of a lady in her 40's with a soon in his early 20's, she said when she was pregnant for him she was told to abort the pregnancy but she refused and today she can't have another child. What if she aborted that pregnancy today she would have been childless so I repeat KEEP your baby. Or do you want a situation where by in 10 years time you start running across nigeria in search of a child you gave up for sdoption years back?
KEEP YOUR CHILD OH!!!!!! Worst case family option till you can take proper care.

Business › Re: Shell: $5Bn Bonga Field Spill Fine Unjustified by jpphilips(m): 2:35pm On Apr 01, 2013
all4naija: The fact you are bent on defending those responsible for the past oil spillages proves only my points of the argument. I have read a lot about these very issues you talked about in you comment, the intelligent monitoring facility incorporated into the pipelines carrying crude oil to refinery is recent and haven't solved the oil spillages impact on the environment, yet evidences of leakage are from the sources operating indiscriminately.

Meanwhile, for your information, the oil spillages which devastated most parts of the Niger-delta region are not so recent but their impacts till date are unquantifiable and very enormous. Even the UN environmental body and other NGOs have questioned Shell integrity on this and stated the company should find appropriate solutions as soon as possible which the said company is trying to dodge due to the amount of money involved(which is in tune of billions of dollars).

From what you have said so far, I quite understand your background on the oil technicality on what is happening on ground but it never ruled out the impact of this particular company oil leakages(The Ogoni's case is a good example) and other spillages on the surface water on the Niger-delta creeks which need attention. You have accused me of being uninformed about the reality on ground yet failed to point out the impact of these oil spillages in the past also the recent ones than pointing to thousands of bloom on rivers which seem to you as appropriate measure of finding solution.

However, your argument is a bit misleading for not accepting the fact that Shell is responsible for the devastation despite receiving 40% of the share of the oil in the region. It doesn't make sense for the government(for taking 60% share) to take it as responsibility on the failures of the company to abide by law binding on how they should operate in the host communities.

On the final note, there is no need of referring me to Google to search those information as they are not proofs on why those spillages happened in the past and the recent ones as well. As a reminder, I am quite aware the impact are of past spillages yet the recent spillages are testaments to the neglect of security on the part of Shell on pipeline that you fail to see. My argument is on the operating practices which have not help the environment and why it has not done the same in other countries the company is present.

On the illegal refineries, and their consequences on the environment is evident of the reasons on the failure of the refineries to meet up to expectation and the benefit the indigenous people can not get from the oil companies operating there. These have be turned into angers in the form of incessant setting up of environmentally dangerous methods of refining crude. They have lost their livelihood to same crude due to the impact the past spillages have on them without much to show for compensation from the side of the Companies.

I would advice you to stop bringing in things which are irrelevant to the issue, like Beaf and insinuating others to know less about what is reality on ground. They only prove the point that you are diverting attention to irrelevancy in this case.

It saddens me to see somebody like you who is vast and well informed on the problem come to Nairaland proving the opposite.

With all due respect, I am on the support for the government to pursue this and make sure the company pay the said amount. What I am only afraid of is the corrupt leaders inability to use this money for the affected communities.
