MizMyColi: There are o. There are.
I've had mine too. Very strong conviction.
Those days, when I was tempted to give up the notion of God... I'd remember what happened to me that night, and I'd tell myself that surely, even if his/its name is not God, there is a being around us....within us, a power, a dimension, it seems far, but it's always near. We connect to this presence in many different ways.
We all have our definition of the supernatural y'know.... For me music is supernatural. It does wonders for me.
I don't wanna share my experience on here. I could do without the drama.
But lemme see if this cuts it.
How do you explain a situation where a person is filled with anger and sore bile and over a wrong done, and just by acknowledging this presence and maybe with a mix of music (not necessarily gospel).... You find yourself praying for and wishing those who hurt you well. You find that hate has been replaced by love.... Even when you know that a person has wished you dead, in all meekness, you wish them life, you wish them the best life has in store for them.
That for me is a miracle. It is.
As I write this, I feel the presence again.
Now, the things I wrote up there might sound to another as hogwash, and it just might be! To them at least.
Relating with folks on here has taught me that perspective is a very powerful tool that shapes our reality.
So What's your story? Similar. I mean the aspect about giving up organised religion. But I am yet to decide either way about the reality of the sort of beliefs popular around here - are there witches who fly at night, using, say, broomstick? Can someone harm you by cutting your hair or picking up the sand you walked on and taking them to 'somewhere'? Can you lose your pe.nis by shaking someone's hand? My response to all these is an emphatic I DON'T KNOW. But I'd so love to. At the present time, I'm considering joining a group again. As for wishing people well, that has always been me. I hardly get angry and tend to make a lot allowance for people - although they never do the same for me. |

MizMyColi:
Bro. Ever since I stopped being an active participant of organized religion, a lot of things changed Including this aspect.
Ok... But how about past spiritual experiences you had, if any? There's a lot of stories about spiritual things happening, some from people you won't normally associate with frivolities. How about that? |

coogar: be deceiving yourself..... they sweat, spit & blow their noses in those pits. since the oil is still going to be cooked at huge temperatures, no one cares what happens during the stomping. matter of fact, the more impurities during the stomping, the tastier it gets. You ARE exaggerating. I have witnessed the process extensively and no one spat or sweated. Ok, maybe in those pits - some people can be terrible. I'm more familiar with the smaller earth and wood mortars that you don't have to live inside like those guys in your picture. Maybe that's why my mom used to avoid "Igbo oil" - she could tell them with her nose. |

coogar: are you kidding me? this has been in existence since the fall of man in eden. sometimes the women are waist-deep in the palm oil with their dirty wrappers, spitting & sweating. it's what it is..... Lol. They don't spit. And women hardly sweat like men. Plus it's subsequently going to pass through some intense heat. |

Shollypopzz: I understand why people stomp on grapes but why would anyone stomp on palm nuts?? I know for a fact that one's feet cannot achieve the result in that picture, palm nuts are hard.
So, what is the purpose of the feet?? Does it make the already pounded palm nuts smoother?? Once you land the nuts in the mortar, you beat/pound them with wooden pestle(s) first, then you enter and finish things with your feet. |

Health › Re: Why Are AS Carriers Usually Healthier Than AA Carriers? by JuanDeDios: 7:40am On Jun 07, 2015 |
Nitefury: AS carriers suffer less "malaria" attacks than people with AA and SS genotypes who are prone to it.
I'm not saying saying mosquitos don't bite them..
To start with, once upon a time, our ancestors were all AA. But after thousands of years of Malaria attacks, in order to fight the plasmodium parasites back, they began to undergo some kinda mutation in our genotypes and the sickle cell carrier (AS) was born..
Now how does AS protect against malaria attacks?
There's something called the spleen whose duty is to remove dead and sickled cells from the blood stream.. Now remember the plasmodium parasite lives inside the RBC which are oval in shape.
Now when ever a sickle RBC gets to the spleen, it removes it from the system because the shape is not normal. Now, since the parasite enters the RBC whether sickle or normal, when ever a sickle RBC containing the M.parasite gets to the spleen, it is killed together with the sickle cell.
What this means is, the M.parasite load in an individual with genotype AS is always lower than that of an AA individual. Hence an AA individual would most likely fall ill with malaria than an AS carrier even if they are both exposed to the same levels of mosquito bites.
Other factors like Diet, stress, environment and exposures to Mosquito bites etc. play a role too.
And note, the sickle cell genotype (AS) is found primarily in West Africa and other wet regions of the world.
I just tried to explain in a market woman's language so as not to confuse you..
You might wanna carry out further research online. Searching google for "Genotype AS and possible protective role against malaria" would be a good start. Right. I'd just like to add that this is an evolutionary process. Thousands of years in the future when it would have been complete there'd be no sicklers. AS/SS people would be superhealthy while AA folks will remain prone to malaria unless they're bred out. |

Has anyone really thought deeply enough about why Nigerian businesses/business men/women don't have wealth that last after their death? Like the Walmarts e.t.c Of this world......
The things they do/did to acquire their wealth is better left to the imagination No, it's the way they raise their kids. I'll need a whole book to address it, but you can on your own compare how Richard Branson or Bill Gates raises his kids to how your average Nigerian millionaire raises his and then think deeply enough. Forget how they made their money. Rockefeller did some bad things to make his money yet he passed it on. The Rothchilds weren't saints either. |

SSBN: Its been 5 days and im afraid to say the situation has gotten even worse. Sometimes it seems i am in a dream, i cant believe this is happening. I have taken to brushing 6 times a day, gargling salt water and mouth wash, scraping my tongue yet the first thing people do when they are near me is try to make it seem like they are causally covering their noses. I have lost everything, my girlfriend, my friends, even family. I am more or less living a life of isolation, afraid to interact socially. I had an incident with my ex some months ago where i beat her up, could this be a revenge spell or a physical problem. To say i am confused will be an understatement. |

tomakint: Buhari, as far as I know him remains a good man as a person but he is not the type of leader Nigeria wants at this time......in his bid to impress and to get a power grab from PDP, he failed the 'litmus test of campaign expected of a leader' which is, 'Promise little but deliver much' unfortunately, the APC machinery goaded him to 'Promise much and he may likely deliver......' well you know the rest. No way out, BUHARIMETER calling....... I think it will be silly to hold him to some of the funny promises like paying unemployed graduates and all. Because they're silly. But the promises that border on accountability are achievable and we should insist on everyone of them. We can't have uninterrupted power soon but we can see work being done such that generation capacity climbs and supply improves considerably in our homes and offices. Insisting on silly campaign promises will amount to bad faith and will not do the country any good. Thank God for the initiators of Buharimeter. The promises they have listed are all achievable. |

http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/06/mark-ekweremadu-leave-nass-premises-without-convoy-aides/ This is nonsense. It was the peace of the graveyard. The senate stagnated under Mark. There was no vibrancy. Ministerial nominees were asked to bow and go. The executive always got what it wanted and there was no proper oversight. The Nigerian people didn't matter. All that mattered to Mark and Ekweremadu was stability. |

Buhari has to keep his wife inside her beauty spa, and keep his kids in their schools or husband's house.
Buhari has proved impenetrable, his family now stands as his weak point, the enemy will not stop to rest. They will keep giving him hell, hopefully he will remain focused.
