Why no mention of possible causes of the alleged suicide? They don't know. If you ask me, this is a very strange case. People who are deeply religious hardly commit suicide. UnknownT: How can you believe that? Did NTA start the sitting from nomination? I didn't watch the Senate siting, but the HOR inauguration I watched, guests were asked to leave the chamber, a roll call was done before they started. So the members at ICC can't tell me that they didn't know that the PDP members+some APC members have started sitting. They probably called the bluff of the PDP senators, not knowing that they (PDP+some APC) did their homework well crossing every T's and dotting all I's Where does it say the people at ICC didn't know they had started? |

UnknownT: Meeting with Buhari was slated for 9am, the inaugural sitting started by after 10am, what was Buhari doing between 9-10? And we were told he once locked out an ambassador for coming to a dinner 15minutes late. When he saw that Saraki and others have started sitting, why didn't he call and tell the members waiting for him the latest?
Even the APC Members that were waiting "Foolishly" for Buhari, don't they have aides or family members that would have called them to tell them that the sitting has commenced since it was televised live? It was only after Saraki had won, they now "Heard " and rushed down to the assembly complex. Liars everywhere You are not current. They became aware once the 'nomination' started and rushed to their cars but arrived too late due to holdup. According to the pro-PDP ThisDay.. |

omenka: Of course I am!! That is the purpose of this thread. To ensure we don't go back to what it used to be where all they talk about is tribe, religion and region.
Go back to the politics board and check it out. Just as I predicted, someone has already created a thread complaining "christians got served by hausa/fulani". See what I mean?? Sorry, but there will be such threads. You see, in everything in life, there is what you want, then there is what is. Unfortunately, delicate ethnic balancing in what is in Nigeria as of today. I don’t like zoning and all but it what is for now. You try to work without it you will fail. Rather than zone these offices and then let the legislators elect their own leaders like the PDP largely did in 1999, APC said it had no zoning and then tried to choose leaders for the NA. Now what do we have? A bank robber and serial underperformer with a truckload of EFCC cases as senate president elected while the APC went holding a meeting on inauguration day! Congrats to Dogara. No congrats to Saraki. |

NgeneUkwenu: PDP wanted to play a spoiler, that is just it and nothing else! Even a dumb person can still disobey his party and pull this Coup off! So Nothing Superfluous here!
Had APC supported Saraki, PDP would have voted Lawan
Is just that simple
They just wanted to know who APC supported, so that they can support any 'rebel' that crops up!
Even in an advanced democracy like USA, the power of Nomination of speakers and leaders are done by the Political parties Only one nomination is presented to whole house for voting!
Let's watch as events unfold! People bringing Tinubu are just being mischevious
The man has achieved 80% of all he wanted in life.
And history shows that Dogara and Saraki have effectively shut themselves out of APC! Brilliant analysis. |
Culture › Re: Ban On Ogogoro Is Anti-cultural And A Bad Idea by JuanDeDios(op): 4:50pm On Jun 09, 2015 |
pussygotlips: I feel you pain bro, but there are other business to do apart from ogogoro if only you will know the number of people this dry gin has rendered useless then you have i rethink. ^^^ There was no need for the wisecrack - I don't sell ogogoro. I drank it but that was well over 20 years ago. Now to your concern. Yes, used irresponsibly, alcohol - all alcohol - is harmful and has rendered people "useless", but since when has a ban solved any such problem? Go and read about the Prohibition era in the USA. I would oppose alcohol ban for the same reason I'm opposed to the criminalisation of marijuana and other drugs and the birthing of useless "war" that costs the world billions of dollars annually, whereas the drugs are still available for anyone to buy. But I'm sure the war on drugs makes sense to people like you who see things from one dimension, when it should be clear that the money is better spent on public health management for drug users. I repeat: Banning ogogoro won't drive the stuff away; it will only drive it underground, just as it was in colonial era when they banned it. Those who sell it will not leave the business because there's suddenly more money in it. |

ITbomb: Reminds me of what Amaechi said, "We had disagreements but we decided to shove it aside and get the power first then we will disagree".
I doubt if he knew that when they formally start the disagreement, it would tear down APC.
But then, must it be one person nominated? Why wouldn't a party nominated 2 or 3 and present to the house to elect. PDP problem started with imposition of one person, now APC problems has just started PDP was there. The only way to defeat the PDP was to nominate only one person, not two. Remember there were others in the race at the beginning, including Akume, who was Tinubu's candidate. But they all stepped down for Lawan just so the party would not lose the post to the PDP. |
Culture › Ban On Ogogoro Is Anti-cultural And A Bad Idea by JuanDeDios(op): 3:58pm On Jun 09, 2015 |
There is a lot of culture woven around ogogoro in Nigeria. It is used for libation to appease the gods, for weddings, and in other cultural situations. How will people contact the ancestors now? Besides, the ban on ogogoro will only drive the trade underground and will give policemen another avenue to fleece people. The ban takes us right back to be colonial era when the authorities banned ogogoro.
People have been drinking ogogoro for centuries. It is badly brewed ogogoro that kills, just as badly cooked food may kill. What Nafdac should do is regulate the process of ogogoro production. Don’t ban ogogoro. |

Politics › Re: Saraki - Corruption 1 0 Nigeria by JuanDeDios(op): 1:38pm On Jun 09, 2015 |
Ezenwammadu: This is a victory aganist godfatherism It's not that simple. No one will blame the APC as apart for Mr Saraki's emergence. By supporting someone with a history of non-performance and a strong trial of corruption allegations in both the private and public sectors, PDP has further alienated the thinking section of Nigerians. But I don't expect you partisans to be able to see this. Enjoy. |
