prinzfavian:Hmmm, you are right. No wonder, the rate of crime increases despite the huge number of church in the society. |

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OLD TIME CHURCH SERVICE AND MODERN TIME CHURCH SERVICE. 1. When the choristers of the old time finish singing, the congregation burst into tears because they sang down the glory, but in the modern, after the Delilahs and Jezebels finish singing, the congregation respond with a clap offering returning Ichabod to Ichabod. 2. In the old, during message, the congregation cry and tell God that they are sorry, but today, as message is going on people drop money, blow whistle and shout "ride on pastor". 3. The old went to Church and the message gave them faith but the modern went to church and the message gave them fake.(olive oil, handkerchief, apron, sticker, holy water, and calendars of their G. O.) 4.The ancient carried their bible in booklet because they were not ashamed of Jesus but some today carry ipad to church because they feel shy to be identified with Jesus and to such, Jesus will be ashamed of you on the last day. 5. The old go to church with their hair covered with their head ties but the modern cover their hair with Brazillian weavon. 6. During prayers, the ancient close their eyes and give God their whole attention but the modern open their eyes, looking around like armedrobbers and even answers calls during prayers. 7. The old dance godly dance to thanksgiving and offering but the modern is not even afraid to dance doro, awilo and azonto even before the altar. 8. The ancients go to church with their body covered and are focused on inner beauty but the modern wears mini skirt, show everything, and everything on her is artificial and ends up looking like "mamiwota". They are prone to falling at the slightest prayer because all she is putting on has a demon attached to it. 9. In the old, sinners go home weeping but today sinners go home rejoicing. 10. The ancients answer altar calls with tears rolling down their faces. The modern do the same chewing gum. O Lord, revive your work. May revival precede the rapture. Check yourself very well and redress your way/part...... Blessing is attached in sharing this, when you change and trace your way back to your maker. God bless you. Copied |

hurricanekatrina:Good evening ma. Trust you are doing well in the Lord. |
Nice one. The church is marching on..... Lalasticlacla, seun, come and see prudence and decency. |
Reelmii:Rightly said sir. God shall help us |
KillaBeauty:You are not at fault. If nairaland has been fair to every religion , you won't have been able to comment on this thread . |
mikky4764:God bless you for your reasonable and wise comment. Tithe should not bring argument among we Christians. What pains me most is that we leave the most important issue of preaching the gospel while making much effort on this simple thing. |
Please all, stop these insults and abuses. Don't send someone to the world beyond by your words. Help her with a way out. Thanks. |
CodeTemplar:Then I think we can give him a chance |
Onijagidijagan:Then what can be the option among these old politicians? |
Sometimes in 1993 during the struggle for the actualization of June 12 mandate, Omoyele Sowore had led some vibrant UNILAG Studentsto Kola Abiola's house at Anthony Lagos on solidarity visit and to urgehim to join the struggle.Kola Abiola while addressing them asked them to relax on the aluta and then offered them some money.I am sure Kola sef won't try that again in his life. Sowore took the money and threw it in his face and gave him the greatest dress down of his entire existence. He told Kola Abiola that besides being MKO's son, he is not better than him in anyway and that if he thinks they are fighting for democracy because they are hungry. He told him the struggle was actually about Nigerians and not his father. When I look back at some of these incidents involving him, I didn't have to think twice to join#Sowore2019movement. Ha can be trusted, he has paid his dues.- Ayo Turtons |
Happy Sunday all. Trust you had a glorious service |
DickSin:You are blessed sir. Take care. |
The only thing you can do now is to open up to your boyfriend sincerely and be ready for any decision he will take. God shall have mercy on you. |
Emmanystone:Thanks for your reply. So posting the same topic on a thread continuously is called spamming. Okay. Please did the spamming posts happened my moniker, Julivas? Thanks. |
11. He supplicated for Sodom and his prayer saved Lot. In Genesis 18 : 17-22 and 19 : 27-29, we see how Abraham as a friend of God, after he entertained the heavenly visitors prayed earnestly for the deliverance of Sodom after God has revealed what HE was about to do to Sodom It's unfortunate that only Lot and his family were saved through that fervent prayers. Brethren, in all our doings, let's always put ourselves in a position whereby God will reveal HIS mind to us before HE carries out any act. The challenge before us is to be that Abraham in our families, streets, communities, schools, offices, states, countries and the world at large, God shall help us to do this in Jesus mighty name, amen. 12. He had a son in God’s way After he had a son in his own way, God called him to perfection and showed him mercy and then gave him the promised child, Isaac. Genesis 21 : 1-7 What are we looking for that we are trying to get in our own ways. Is it admission, job, wife, husband or what? It is high time we sought them all in God’s way so that we can have peace of mind and all round blessings from God. 13. He separated from his concubine as he did to Lot Once again he hearkened to the voice of his wife, just that this time he acted on a good advice. Genesis 21 : 8 - 34. Everything that needs to be done must done in order to be at peace with God and people. 14. He passed a severe test of faith In Genesis 22 : 1 - 24 , he was ready to offer to God his only son of promise as a sacrifice to the Lord despite the fact he was so advanced in age to father another child, yet he went ahead with the instructions believing in the God that can make the impossible possible. Brethren, this is a wake up call for us. Can we do this if God for instance is calling you/me to marry a secondary school certificate holder when you/me are/a graduate? May God help us all 15. He planned for his son's future As a responsible parents, which all of us is aspiring to be, Abraham took it upon himself to make sure that Isaac got it right in life especially when it comes to marital issue. No wonder, Isaac and Rebekah accepted themselves despite the fact that they have not seen themselves before. Brethren, as we get married in the nearest future by God's grace and become a responsible father and mother, the marital life of our children should be of uttermost importance and we should put it into consideration through prayers, fastings and godly counsel. Genesis 24 : 1 - 64 16. He lived a fulfilled life He remarried and bore more children. Separated the promised child from the rest of his children and slept in the Lord peacefully. Challenges for us from the life of Abraham 1. His unquestionable obedience. Hebrew 11 : 8 2. His remarkable faith. Romans 4 : 17 - 20 3. His great sacrifice. Hebrews 11 : 17 4. His unselfishness. Genesis 14 : 14 - 16 5. His wonderful intercessions. Genesis 18 : 23-32 6. His spiritual vision. Conclusion Though a friend of God, Abraham been human still faulted in some areas, but we must temper the judgement of the Bible saints with mercy remembering that we who have so much privileges than them, have ourselves often times failed God. According to 1 Corinthians 10 : 11 - 12, all these are written for our warning and admonition. So brethren, let's take heed of them and apply them appropriately. Reflection Endeavour to be a friend of Jesus. John 15 : 14 Ye are My friends if ye do whatsoever I command you. |
4. He separated from Lot Though so close to Lot, but he has to be separated from him to avoid conflict so as not to make God angry. What is that thing in our lives that is so dear to us, but is constantly making us to displease God, it may be friend, games etc. If Abraham can do this to his blood relation, then we can as well do away with things that are capable of bringing conflict into our relationship with God. 5. He delivered Lot In Genesis 13 : 1 - 18, when Lot was captured with his family, Abraham out of love, though they are not together, went all the way to rescue him and all his things. The scriptures admonish us to love our enemies and do good to those that hate us. 6. He paid his tithe He was faithful in paying his tithe to Melchizedek. He was not a defaulter in this regard. Today, so many anti - tithe crusaders are all over the place, but brethren as we do claim to be Abraham ' s children, we should be faithful in paying our tithe and other financial obligations. Remember HE is the all - knowing God, thus HE knows our capabilities. Grace to be faithful in all, God shall grant unto us in Jesus mighty name, amen. 7. He got a renewed promises from God. What a great reward for being faithful! ! In Genesis 15 : 1 - 21, especially in verse 1, immediately after he paid the tithe faithfully, God rewarded him greatly and renewed HIS promises to him afresh. This shows us that when we do things that please HIM, HE is bound to shower HIS love upon us the more 8. He yielded to pressure and had a son in his own way In Genesis 16 : 1 - 16, his wife advised him to do the needful in order to have a child, and he bowed to the pressure and had a child outside of wedlock. It is unfortunate that that singular action of Abraham has been a thorn in the flesh of Christian since then to this present time and will continue to be until Christ Jesus comes back. Brethren, as a Christian, we can seek for counsel from those that are close to us like Pastors, Parents, friends and co, but we should always cross check any counsel given with the scriptures and not to accept everything hook line and sinker. God’s way is always the best route, though it may seem rough and untarred, but the end of it is glorious. 9. He was called to perfection After he had a son in his own way, God saw his state of imperfection and HE called him to be perfect in his walk before HIM. The question is, is it possible to walk perfectly in this present world? Yes brethren, it is possible because our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ made it possible for us. What we need to do is just to be in Him. 10. He entertained strangers Not knowing that the strangers are heavenly visitors, but due to his generousity and kindness, he took good care of them. What was the outcome of this act? He was handsomely rewarded for it. Genesis 18 : 1 - 16 makes us to understand that his wife also cooperated with him in entertaining the visitors, thus she was blessed also and God made her to laugh at last. What a lovely family... How often do we show love and kindness to even brethren not to talk of strangers? Remember the scriptures say we should do good to all especially to those of the house of faith. |
Topic : Abraham : A friend of God and a man of great faith Text : Isaiah 41 : 8 What a great honour and privilege to be called a friend of the most high God. At times friend (trusted) are closer to one more than family members. Secrets are better shared with trusted friend than close relatives most times. Abraham enjoyed this and any more from God for being HIS friend. Abraham was living in Ur of the Chaldeas, a developed and civilized place that practiced idolatry grossly. It's an environment that is saturated with corruption and wickedness because of their idolatry practices. This is the kind of situation Abraham found himself and one can imagine that he would have been following the footsteps of his forefathers in worshipping the deities before he encountered God God called him out of the idolatry practices to live a separated life - a life of faith in HIM and forsook his old ways of living. Genesis 12 : 1 Abraham, the father of faith, though he was in his comfort zone followed God without any reservations despite the fact he didn't know where he was going. No wonder he was blessed and his name keeps on reverberating in the scriptures. At this juncture, it is pertinent to note that when God calls, HE doesn't forced people to obey the call, rather HE gives room for one to refuse the call, obey the call without reservation or with reservation.* As for Abraham, he chose to obey the call of God without without reservation and he was blessed for this. Lessons to learn from Abraham in walking with God 1. He heard the call of God, yielded to it and began his spiritual journey. This can be found in Genesis 11 : 31 to 12 : 9 How do we handle the call of God upon our lives? We should remember that God will not force us, but will give the chance to refuse, to obey the call with or without reservation. One can receive the call of God through the scriptures among other means. 2. He faced famine and went down to Egypt In Genesis 12 : 10 - 20, when there was famine in the land, instead for him to look up or go up to the one that called him, rather he went *down* to Egypt where he lied to survive. Having been called into faith in God through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ does not portray that one will not encounter some challenges. The question is how do we handle these challenges? Going down to wherever in time of difficulty means seeking for solution in worldly way which will mal one's character and thus negatively affect one's relationship with God Looking up and going up to the one that called, who is forever faithful and is able to deliver and safe to the uttermost is the only option when faced with challenges. 3. He came back to Canaan Thank God he realised his mistake and took the necessary steps to please God again. His humility is obvious. When we realised our shortcomings, how do we handle them? Is it with I don't care attitude, or that God understands, or with a remorseful heart of repentance? God shall help us to humble ourselves before HIM in Jesus mighty name, amen. |
*LESSONS ON MARRIAGE* 1. *EVERYONE YOU MARRY HAS A WEAKNESS* Only God has no weakness. Every rose flower has its own thorn. If you focus too much on your spouse’s weakness, you can’t get the best out of his/her strength. 2. *EVERYONE YOU MARRY HAS A DARK HISTORY* No one is an angel, therefore, avoid digging one’s past. What matters is the present life of your partner. Old things are passed away. Try to forgive and forget. The past can’t be changed. So focus on the present and the future! 3. *EVERY MARRIAGE HAS IT’S OWN CHALLENGES* Marriage is not bed of roses. Every shining marriage has gone through its own test of hot and excruciating fire. True love is proved in time of challenge. Fight for your marriage! Make up your mind to stay with your spouse in time of needs. Remember this is the vow you made on your wedding day! 4. *EVERY MARRIAGE HAS DIFFERENT LEVELS OF SUCCESS* Don’t compare your marriage with anyone! We can never be equal, some will be far in front and others far behind. To avoid marriage stresses, be patient, work hard and with time, your marriage dreams shall come true. 5. *TO MARRY IS TO DECLARE A WAR* When you marry, you must declare a war against enemies of marriage. Some of the enemies of marriage are: Ignorance, Rumours, Prayerlessness, Unforgiveness, Adultery, Third Party Influence, Stinginess, Stubbornness, Lack Of Love, Rudeness, Wife battery, Laziness, winning, nagging, PRIDE, Divorce etc. Be ready to fight to maintain your marriage zone. 6. *THERE IS NO PERFECT MARRIAGE* There is no ready made marriage anywhere. Marriage is hard work, volunteer yourself and perfect it daily. Marriage is like a MOTOR CAR with a gear oil, gear box, etc If these parts are not properly maintained, the car will break down somewhere along the road and expose the occupant to unhealthy circumstances. – Many of us are careless about our marriage… Are you? If you are, please pay attention to your marriage. 7. *GOD CANNOT GIVE YOU THE COMPLETE PERSON YOU DESIRE* God gives you, her or him in form of raw materials in order for you to mold what you desire. You may desire a woman who can pray for 1 hour but your wife can only pray for 30 minutes. With your love, prayer and encouragement, she can improve. 8. *TO MARRY IS TO TAKE A RISK* You cannot predict what will happen after marriage, as situation may change, so, leave a room for adjustment. Pregnancy may not come in the next 4 years. You may get married to her because she's slim but she becomes a little fat after a child. He may lose his beautiful job for years that you have to take the financial responsibility of the family until he gets a new job. But with God by your side, you will smile at long last. 9. *MARRIAGE IS NOT A CONTRACT, IT IS PERMANENT* Marriage needs total commitment, love is the glue that makes a couple stick together. Divorce starts in the mind. Never think of divorce! Never threaten your spouse with divorce. Choose to remain married! God hates divorce, though it’s permitted only in extreme cases. 10. *EVERY MARRIAGE HAS A PRICE TO PAY* Marriage is like a bank account. It is the money you deposit into your bank account that you can withdrawn. If you don’t deposit love, peace and care into your marriage, you are not a candidate of a blissful home. There is no free love in marriage, You cannot love without giving and sacrificing.... Copied |

To me age should not be a barrier if her characters are okay for you and she is godly. I was once in such, the lady is question was very good and lovely. .... Trust is the only issue between us. |
It is now obvious that this government is clueless. He knew this yet he is planning to give colony to killer strangers in each state of the federation. Enough of this incompetence. Please get your PVC. |
When I travelled with one of my Daddies, after talking for a while, I saw the need to get busy with my phone. So, I started pressing my phone beside him in the car. On our way, he started another discussion and I was replying him even though I was glued to my phone. At another time, he cracked a joke and I laughed still glued to my phone. Then, there was silence for a while. I didn't feel it because I was busy with my phone; replying to chats, checking people's status, viewing news feeds and all. He felt the silence because he was doing nothing but driving and that could be, in itself, tiring. We stayed like that for a while. Then, he broke the silence - "Flora, are you not supposed to keep my company? Why are you following me on this trip if all you want to do is to press your phone? Don't ever try this with your husband. It has ruined relationships." I felt bad. Was the period of silence that long? I tried replying to convince him that I didn't mean to but all I could utter was "I'm sorry Daddy" and I dropped my phone. After that day, whenever I'm with him in the car, I always remember that incident. So, I'll keep my phone away and start racking my brain for what to say to keep his company. If a human being feels that way, what about God? You are on a journey with God in this life. The fact that He's the One driving you through the streets of life does not mean He doesn't need your company. He needs your attention at all times. He could have been signalling all the while to have your total attention but you've been replying Him with your busy mind; busy with diverse thoughts about life's accomplishments. Don't ever miss the signal. For instance, when you feel the burden to pray and your gadgets are also calling, you pick up your gadgets replying to chats and muttering some prayers. You laugh amidst your chats and assume seriousness again to mutter some more prayers. Tell me, are you praying or chatting or is there such word as "pray-chatting"? Don't ruin your relationship with God! Focus! Focus on your Maker! You will never understand how far apart you are with Him until you try to break the long forgotten silence. You'll then realise that you've got a lot of catching up to do. Mark 12:30 admonishes _"...and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment"_. This means everything about you must be centred in God's love. You must be so filled with the aura of Christ that you shouldn't get distracted by the world. Not a single thing or decision should make you leave His presence. By His presence, I mean the consciousness of His existence within you. Not for a second should you forget you're carrying Christ inside of you. He is interested in everything about you, I mean EVERYTHING! That's how loving He is. _"We love him, because he first loved us"_ (1 John 4:19). *Talk to Him. Walk with Him. Commune with Him. Complain about what you don't understand. Report situations to Him. Laugh with Him. Cry with Him. He understands all you are feeling within you and I assure you, He is the best person that can accommodate all your feelings. He's got the best antidotes for every situation.* _*When last did you feel God's presence within you? Don't ever lose touch with Him. He's your first and forever love. Every other thing or person around you is only an occupant of a passing phase called life but God lives forever.
