It seems you believe that her situation in Europe has to be better than if she were in Africa. You're mistaken.

Situations get worse when you see things around you that you cannot aspire to for certain reasons depending on how you percieve those things. If she was in Africa, she may be poor without feeling as bad as she felt in the midst of white people who (probably) made her feel less human simply as a result of her skin colour. I'm not saying this is exactly the case but it is wrong for you to assume that she cannot be in a worse state than she could have been in Africa.

Why do some people think that everytime anyone mentions something about America in the negative, they should rise up in arms and insult every Nigerian in Nigeria (believing that every Nigerian in Nigeria is desperately trying to get to America)?

I dont want to engage in a war of words on the internet over this but if all the people you know and see in Nigeria are those on the queue at the US embassy, it shows the kind of person you are as well.

Nigeria is my country and I am a very proud Nigerian. I acknowledge that my country is not what we would like it to be but I will not bash it at every opportunity and make my own brothers and sisters feel bad about where they are from. This topic is about gunshots in an American school but Nigeria bashers have turned it into an opportunity to bash Nigeria and to make people in Nigeria feel inferior to themselves.

If all anyone has to talk about for him/herself is that he/she believes he is better than others by virtue of his geographical location, he cant have much about him.

It had nothing to with not filing his "application" correctly. Please this is not a JAMB situation. Go back and read the story provided in the link as supplied by the poster. Educate yourselves as the last hope you villages have--don't wipe out your whole clan with ignorance!

One would have expected you to give the reason(s) why the initial application was sent back; seeing that you seem to know some other reason for it and you obviously consider the Nigerian visa as Ogbono soup.

You apparently want to go down the route of insults. I will respond in kind to your insults but I do not want to take away from what everyone else is currently contributing.

One problem with some Nigerians who have happened to find themselves abroad is that they ridicule EVERYTHING Nigerian; yet they will be the first to tell you how proud they are to be Nigerians. It's no wonder the country cannot move forward. There are people constantly pulling Nigeria two steps back for every step forward the country takes.

I was there recently and went to a shooting range. The guy at the range jokingly told me that the population of America is too much anyway so if people carry guns to kill themselves it wont matter that much. Sorry. As much as I may have sounded harsh, I have only written this in sincerity.

To be honest, I have seen many of such marriages and they collapse more often than not. They are mostly never well grounded in the first place. When you guys start understand the culture and mentality of an average Nigerian, you will realise how hard it is to be married to one without strong 'grounding'. Problem is, western women will never learn or accept the truth about these things. If you tell them the truth about these things, they think you're just being negative or living in the past without understanding that the way and culture un which a man has been raised determines a lot of things about his mentality.

It will take heavenly intervention for marriages conducted across cultures to really work out as couples have divergent views on things and most agreements are only because one person is supressing his/her inner convictions. How long can any man/woman supress such convictions and beliefs for before it starts to eat them up and they refuse to take anymore?

I dont understand why a woman would get married and want to work for such long hours. How long do you then get to spend with your husband?

My personal opinion is that I cant have a wife that will get home late such that we will not have enough time to be with each other. Besides, after working for so long, she'll naturally be tired and just about ready to lay down and sleep. What use is that in a FAMILY?

Thankfully, my wife does not have any desire to work very long hours.

I listened to a lengthy interview with Ahmedine last week with regards to his policies and relationship with the international community, especially US, and he never mentioned any Imam or religion. He actually came across as a very methodical man and he wants to do things for his people. He seems to have a passion for Iran.

The US does not like that passion because they do not want to see Iran develop it's own technology and become independent of Western technology.
