I am an Aussie girl who is serious about a Nigerian guy. I have known him for over 2 years now but we only got close early last year. We have never met but hopefully we will be able to do so this year. He has never asked me for anything. He actually helped me during a time I was scammed.

I have joined this site so I can hopefully understand more of about African culture. My man is from Edo.

He is a hardworking man. A person I really respect.

When he first won my heart he spent a lot of time with me and welcomed phone calls no matter what time it was. But now he is busy all the time with his business trying to earn enough money he says to be with me. We hardly spend any time together now. I do not believe any other woman is involved - I believe it is exactly as he says.

Is this typical behaviour of a Nigerian man? Once he has secured his love he then decides that he needs to works so much to provide for our future? Now I don't have any problem with hardworking people - I just wonder if it is normal to make such a sudden change like this. It is hard for me to understand. He always says that he loves me and he is doing this for us.

Polygamy helps all those girls who have over-posed for the boys who should have married them. When they have over-posed, they suddenly realise that they are becoming older and their friends are all married so they jump up when a rich married man tells them to become 2nd or 3rd wife.

Conclusion: Polygamy is advantageous to those girls who tend to over-pose in their youth.

Living in the UK/US has a lot to do with it. How many women living in Nigeria have you heard complaining or saying that their men are lazy because they dont carry the grocery bag from shopping?

I am happy that Glasgow won the bid. I'll be able to see many Nigerian athletes around me in 2014. I may even know a few of the coaches. Plus, it is bound to be good for the Glaswegian economy.

However, Glasgow has many negatives as well. Glasgow is probably the drug capital of the western world. Glasgow's NEDS are a complete menace to society and to the world at large. There is abject poverty around Parkhead in the East end that will host the opening of the games. Glasgow is a very quietly racist place and you are likely to think that everyone that smiles at you and chats with you really likes you. THEY DONT!

But, better Glasgow than Nigeria. Those politicians would only use the games as an escuse to corruptly enrich themselves and their friends and relatives.

I did not read every line of your post but I fail to see the difference. Both parties are Black Americans because the Black American born in America to Nigerian parents will differ little from a Black American born of parents of any other nationalities. They are both bred in the same country and, supposedly, same culture.

many people on this forum will fail badly if they were to be tested on intelligence levels. I do not see the original poster saying that she was hated for not being Nigerian enough. Will you say people hate you when they tell you you are not British?

There is certainly a difference between a British-bred (not necessarily born abroad) person and a Nigerian-bred person. They have different thought processes and paterns as a result of their cultural environments. It does not make one either less of a human but it means that there are some/many values that they will differ on.

Even when people have lived abroad for a long time, it changes some of their perpesctives to things. Some positive and some negative.

If you don't like the man, leave him. Na by force?
Why bashing Nigerian men everywhere? If you don't like the ways of Nigerian men, please go and find men from wherever you like and you can come back to tell us how much they respected you and your relationship.

My point is, there are different personalities to people and no single person or group of people is 100% perfect. While you are seeking out the negatives in Naija men, start looking for the positives in other men. Please go and be with those others.

Infidelity does not necessarily equate polygamy. Infidelity is worldwide and not unique to Nigeria, neither is it unique to men.

Wherever did you hear that, if you are legally married in Nigeria, you can just decide to become a polygamist? Who informed you that the Nigerian legal system is not against polygamy? If you have spent all your life with undesirables, you should state it rather than come up with sorry tales about Nigeria, which in most cases are restricted to certain religions or those who never got officially married.

Our foreign reserves help America to boost their economy.

Nigerians (not just leaders) have a great propensity to be corrupt and fraudulent so, to entrust such funds into their hands would be daft. We should use about 50% of the reserves to build infrastructures which would benefit the economy. If the right infractrusture is in place, there is no doubt that Nigeria will develop very fast
