salsera: Think this through yourself, why would anyone want to spend 1500pounds on a 6day trip?
Don't presume that simply because you can show money that it means you will be issued a visa.

Its not about the cash its about what is reasonable.

So using ur uncle as a sponsor will not make a diffrence . Why would a full grown adult who is earning an income require a relative to pay for his trip.

Get a leave letter from your office and I hope ur account shows evidence of salary payments. And answer why you want to go to the Uk? Cos ur application should reflect that purpose.
Lastly - read the thread on reasons why ppl are refused visas. Its useful.

Don't mind them abeg, MO is half Somalian and half British, his Daddy is British married to a Somalian woman, MO moved to the UK at the age of 8 and worked hard to be where he is now. The British Govt invested ££££ on him and its showing, now some people are moaning about he not running for Somalia.

AjanleKoko: Why? It's not a country? or there are no people there?
A country rule by bunch of crooks who cares about only themselves.

AjanleKoko: Therein lies the issue. Nigerians are wired to think about, and place all emphasis on themselves.
That is why, when things don't go the way they want, it's always about what didn't go right for them. It is never about the country. I didn't get a job, I didn't get free education, the government didn't this, didn't do that for me. As one now-defunct mobile operator's tagline went, 'It's All About You'. Story of Naija undecided

JFK's famous phrase is totally lost on Nigerians.

His famous phrase is not applicable to Nigeria.

solomon111: What is wrong with him gaining the neccessary expertise and deciding to run for his country, somalia?
Is it not all about sacrifice?
It may even be the catalyst for the turn-around, that somalia needs, like a national re-awakening.
The average black man has prioritize money, far above more important things.
Was it not people that 'sacrificed' for britain to become what it is today?
His Daddy is British, did you understand that? The British invested money on him, did you also understand that? He doesn't have to run for Somalia, go and preach to Somalian Govt and leave the poor guy alone, he made the best decision of his life and its paying.
For all of you who keep on arguing that he isn't British too, read this http://olympicsblog.co.uk/athletes/mo-farah/ and stop using that as a reason as to why he shouldn't have run for GB. His dad is British. The man was born in England and grew up in Hounslow. He met Mo's mum in Somalia when he went back for holiday.
If your Father is Nigerian and you were born in England, will you not be half Nigerian and half British? Sho... undecided
I don't get why people are refusing to accept who he is. Na wa o.

When Somalia has been in so much hassle and war-torn for the past 21 years, I would think that the most important thing on people's mind will be their safety and wellbeing not taking up sports. How can you run and train if you are not sure you'll be alive tomorrow or don't know where your next meal will come from?
Don't mind them, is Mo the only Somalian with 2 legs? Why did other Somalians not doing well in the Olympic? Britain invested in him and they are ripping it now.

AjanleKoko: Lord knows, I sympathize with you. And in principle, I agree.
But I'll say something: If most Nigerians think that way, then this thread would probably not have been created by anybody wink
Nigerian problem is not the lack of people who thinks positively but people who do positive things

Donxavier: Well,
the first thing is to do the right thing within any sphere I control. Which means in any little capacity I can operate, I want to do the right thing and lead by example.

I want to be able to give scholarships out to children in my community who are less privileged to study till University Level.

Incidentally, My mum is a school principal and like you said why can't I spend that amount here. If I could invest in the education sector and provide good education at very modest prices, that would be a dream come true. Primary, Secondary, Tertiary Level.

Going further than this, I would need to be in Power to effect more changes. I admire people like Okonjo Iweala,Prof Barth Nnaji, and the likes that are serving one way or another in this admnistration and trying their best to sanitise their respective ministries. I honestly won't mind being a Minister. That's one of the reasons why I'm going for the Masters to be the best in my field and get recognised so I may be fortunate enough to lead a ministry and get things done at that level.

If I can follow through on this, that would be my contribution to my Fatherland and I'd be fulfilled in my life.
I'm sure that many people who left Nigeria to study and refused to return wrote this type of theory i'm reading from you here, it appears you are being sponsored by your parents at the moment, when you get to the UK, finish your studies, get a job and work and save then come back and tell us how many scholarships and primary schools you have given to your community.

Nigeria is 'poor' today because she is 'rich', not coming back to Nigeria is not unpatriotic, in the case of Nigeria, home is where you felt at home, it could be Iraq or Afghanistan, it doesn't have to be Nigeria because i own Nigeria nothing and not under any obligation to pay back.

How will you contribute when you come back?

Donxavier: It's not only about the fees paid. It's more about the experience, the change in environment and other intangibles that I can't get from being only in Nigeria. Hey. Am not against foreign experience. It is needed. What I don't understand is why many people don't come back to improve the nation and say all scathing about the country they belong too.
My point is this. . . why did you not invest that 4m naira plus in Nigeria economy as a way of building Nigeria or contributing to nation building?
Travel › Re: Nigerians In Diaspora - Is It Really Still Rosy Out There? by justwise(mod): 4:42pm On Aug 11, 2012
Donxavier: Nope, I won't. But I might build one worthy of such amount here in Nigeria someday.
You will not pay such amount to Nigerian university but you are ready to pay that to foreign university and invest another 1.3M naira (rents and bills) in their economy?

As a very patriotic Nigerian why did not look for a good school in Nigeria even if its private one to study?
Travel › Re: Nigerians In Diaspora - Is It Really Still Rosy Out There? by justwise(mod): 4:27pm On Aug 11, 2012
Donxavier: ^^^
The real issue is valuing our heritage and where we come from. Relocating abroad or living abroad all those are side issues. My belief is that I was born in Nigeria for a reason and I should partake in nation building. If I could have survived in Nigeria up to this point, then Nigeria doesn't pose a threat to me. We all know the negatives in Nigeria, it's an overflogged issue. Regardless of how Nigeria is, No light, No water, Bad roads, Bad drainage, horrible government, Insecurity,Super Corruption and all the ills afflicting this nation it is the nation of our birth and I should contribute my own quota to the development of the nation. I believe with Education and hardwork I should at least be able to live decently in this country by any reasonable standard. The way some of those abroad talk you just wonder who will develop the country they are vehemently running away from, like it's not theirs. There must have been a reason why they were born here, otherwise they would have been born in another country. At the beginning of one's journey in Life when one is a nobody, then by all means focus on yourself and develop yourself but when one attains a certain level of achievement then the issue becomes what you have done for humanity. And like they say Charity begins at Home. But Home is different things to different people.

Kofi Annan was the former UN Secretary General. A man who has seen it all. He lived abroad for most of his working life and if there is someone that is exempted from all the consequences of Africans living abroad, then that is one. How high can you go after the that? When he finished his term he returned to Ghana, why? Why doesn't he want to die in New York or Live their Forever? Why did he go back to Ghana?. Even Emeka Anyaoku, the Former Commonwealth Man also returned home after their terms. I don't know, but this people have seen the height and the breadth of living abroad in all its Luxuries and all abroad has to offer, Yet they still returned home.

The conclusion of the matter is there just some kind of honour and dignity that comes with being successful in your Home. That's where you can be Boss, Be well respected and Honoured in a way that can't be done anywhere else.

Just my personal thoughts and feelings on the matter. Not forcing my opinion on anybody and I realise and respect people's free choice to decide for themselves what is best for them.
If you were asked by any university in Nigeria to pay 3M naira for 9months course will you?

Please..I am a carpenter, and I went to don bosco vocational school in my ondo state to learn capentry.
I am interested in going to Canada to undergo training that can set me apart from other carpenters in Nigeria as most don't have certificate to back up the work.
I already applied to monhawk college in Ontario fo apprenticeship certificate.
I attended university of ilorin but didn't comlete my degree due to some problem.
I just set up my carpentry company here in Nigeria about a year ago.
Finance is not a problem.
But my real concern is what will Vo @ the Canada embassy will think of me going for apprenticeship training as major Nigerians go for bsc and masters....do you think I have a chance
I think its important to know how much your company turns over in a year after tax, if you are making less than what the trip to Canada will cost you then chances of getting a visa is very slim.
The reason why travel agents can get you cheaper tickets is becos not all reservations made by people are redeemed before the window period airlines give, hence the unredeemed reservations are cancelled @ the expiration of the window by 12 midnight everyday. So agents take advantage of this becos of their softwares to get cheaper tickets (but they will not tell you, especially if you have sent money to them). Secondly, he commission is an agent's commission and only "IATA CERTIFIED" travel agents can access it with their unique agent no. Only BA does not give agents commission. So whenever my travel agent/friend's customers specifically ask for BA, he collects service charge, otherwise, he doesnt. He is IATA certified and he just started his business last year in Lagos. He sometimes shares his commission with informed clients sef to win their hearts...this is insider related information im giving you bros...
Whoever want to buy ticket should use the airline's website, if there is sales you will see it there, it works for me, sometimes cheap ticket pops up just days before you travel, agent will not sale cheaper than the airline.
