The euphoria that comes with being given credit grin grin. It's very enticing because unlike debits, where you see money leaving your account, you don't feel it so much because it was never yours, to begin with until it's time to pay it back.
Students with unstable jobs have to be really careful sha.
True that and that is the danger of it

Your post may not be popular with some people but you are making an important point, it’s not free money, if not managed with care it will destroy your life. Years ago a friend on student visa took one with just £2000 balance, she failed to repay the amount spent because she lost the part time job, then the interest grew out of control, bank sent debt recovery agency after her, for years she moved from one address to another, from one city to another. Has to do under table jobs because any money that goes into her account will be taken by the bank. This went on for years, I really don’t know how she got out of it.

I know how you ensure things like this don't get posted on the forum. i would like to draw your attention to this as an admin.. is it ok because they have paid to 'advertise'?
Its not ok whether its paid or unpaid ad, its illegal and i have called the admin attention to this weeks ago, that is all i can do, hopefully they will do something about it, this is completely wrong

@justwise I don’t know why people are still on this issue. The banks will give your balance to the embassy without you consent because you have granted the embassy the privilege by signing and submitting your application. Before you submit your application it will be boldly stated there na. Or at least read the terms and conditions.
I got no idea, strange to me to be honest
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 7 by justwise(mod): 4:32pm On May 11, 2022
Peonies:
@Justwise, Banks do not disclose balances to embassies without customer's consent. If the Bank receives a request to confirm the account balance, they must contact the account holder for his consent. if he gives consent, they disclose. If some banks do it and the account holder gets wind of it, he has a good cause of action against his bank for breach of confidentiality, and so, banks avoid doing this. I understand some bank officers have given these confirmations without customer consent, but the cases where there are blow backs from this breach of due process, you will not hear of it because banks will protect their image and usually fire the staff that erred.
so, in cases where account balances are required, customer's consent is a requirement for disclosure, but I do not see any applicant declining to give consent when you have a pending application. Even if the applicant has given embassy consent, the bank will still obtain their own consent from their customer because whatever consent the customer gave the UKVI is unknown to the bank, because the consent was not given to the bank.
Bank will disclose your balance and they have always done that with or without your consent, you willingly submitted those documents to the embassy and authorised the embassy to verify them. So you have little or no legal standing if the embassy went ahead to verify those documents and the bank corporate.

@justwise, @duchess and other gurus, kindly assist with your input regarding this:

I have unconditional offers from Northumbria University, Newcastle & University of Wolverhampton. I'm having some trouble making a choice. Their fees are almost same except that Wolverhampton is marginally lower.

Which of the schools would you advise based on - cost of living, availability of family accommodation, job opportunities (student & dependent), safety, access to major cities and any other comment about each of the school/city.

Your kind and prompt input would be highly appreciated as I am ready to make initial deposit.
Looking forward to your thoughts.
I really can not give you an informed information about any of those cities as i have never lived there, you really have to engage Google on this because you definitely find info about those cities

Is it their money or mine. So u guys to put a call to verify this. This is first bank they said they wud never gv consent of customer acct without the customer consenting to it.
Only you will believe this

Yes Banks don't disclose account balance to third parties o,i know of a man who got a call from his bank when UKVI called in and wanting to know the account balance, the account officer had to call him and make the call a conference call and the conversation was recorded, but i don't know how that works with Students Visa
Yes bank bank does disclose bank balance to the embassy, the embassy is not ordinary 3rd party and the applicant willingly give the embassy the right to verify the statement, so you are wrong.

there is a very big difference: its like asking the bank if this is their statement. They know whats from them. The bank would do well to cross check the account just to be sure. And let the embassy know the statement is genuine. Sometimes they don’t even have to check the account. They would simply know by merely looking at it.
You are making things up, they can’t know if the bank statement is genuine just by looking at it then make a decision. They do verify it with the bank. When you applied for visa you signed a clause giving the embassy the right to verify your documents.

How many of people read that legal small print at the end of visa application form before submitting?

false hope??
I don't get what you mean by I'm giving false hope...but im sure i dnt lie or make it up when I said that banks don't divulge customers' available or ledger balance to third party except by court order....its a fact....

the embassy uses their wealth of experiences in seeing many documents to determine these cases...and that's why some fraudulent agents get lucky some times

.i only gave him my opinion based on the information that ge said his documents were not fake...
Yes you and few other people here are giving those who are planning to use fake bank statement false hope. The whole point of verification is to determine if the money the applicant claims to have is available. If you used fake bank statement and get away with it then it makes that checks were not made by the embassy.

Embassies do verify bank statements and that includes the availability of fund and banks corporate with such request else your application will be refused if your bank refused to corporate with request from the embassy.

Banks have image to protect , they got no business trying to cover your crime.

True. Usually, what they confirm is the authenticity.
So in that refusal did the embassy mention anything about bank balance?

Hello @justwise, he is correct to the extent that banks do not reveal customers balances to any third party unless with a court order or the consent of the account holder.
I really hope the poster is successful with his administrative review.
Every year we debate this here and every time people are getting caught presenting fake bank statement. The embassy can successfully verify the authenticity of a bank statement without asking about bank balance.
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 7 by justwise(mod): 9:40pm On May 10, 2022
@lekancanny

Don't make any further application until you sort this out else your 10yrs ban will start from the date of previous application.

If you are genuinely sure that the GTB account is genuine then get a letter from your bank and attach it to the same bank statement you submitted and explain what happened, you can either send it for reconsideration or apply for AR, search for reconsideration email address online and email your documents.

They do verify documents and this is not a guess work

You are giving people false hope with this sort of statement, unfortunately naïve ones here will believe this

Please I need your urgent assistance.

1. Pls what are the documents to upload for child defendants for visa application?

2. Has anyone signed the attached document for their kids at the point of application before? Is it necessary to sign this as the parent of the child?

@justwise @mamatukwas
1. Submit the child's birth certificate, bank statement that contains maintenance for the whole family, you can also submit family pictures

Hi @justwise I saw your response to someone where you encouraged him to proceed with his Nigerian passport application. I thought it was a very tiring and lengthy process., but i guess the situation is better now.

I have a trip to nigeria in the first week of july with my husband and baby. I already made up my mind that we were all gonna apply for nigeria visa, but I was really encouraged by post loool. If we start a passport application now, we will have to pay for a priority service right in order to get our passports before july??
IjJudy:
Alright, thank you so much
giselle237:
no priority needed. A friend got his in 1 week from the day of biometrics in March. Fill the form in time inorder to get a close appointment date. Hold on,
If you dnt have NIN, it pushes one back by at least 2- 3 weeks because NIN is now compulsory.
40p for adults and 30p for kids. Book a nin appointment as soon as possible

I was thinking last week of May, but with this whole confusion about not being able to come back in when passport is about to expire has paused the trip....if anyone can assure me I will get my passport in a month or 6 weeks time, then I plan towards end of June
That is doable, start now

Thanks, I have a student visa, my brp expires sometime next year. Getting into Nigeria might be easy, but my concern is coming back into UK. Please what's your take, should I apply for renewal here? Any idea how long before the new passport will come, I am asking because of the children's vignette, so it does not expire while waiting for passport.
I think renewing passport here now is a lot easier compare to what i went through last Nov. When are you planning to travel?

Please any idea how long the processing takes

@justwise please you mentioned travelling back with an almost expired passport, mine expires on ist of june, can I travel to Naija with and return before that ist without issues at the airport?

Also someone said my husband can't brinh my kids in since I am the main applicant, we came in together and he has gotten his brp but travelled back to bring the kids.

Elders biko make una help my ministry, anyone that has any input about my plenty listed wahalas above should kindly help. Thanks
Yes you can do that especially if you have British passport or other form of permanent stay paper, only that you have to convince the airlines if questioned, you will not be sent back once you get to Nigerian airport but you will be asked some questions as to why you are travelling with expired passport.

Read the story again. The person complaining of injustice is the actual suspect. She is working and having her salary paid into someone else's account. Why?

This is very common in US. Immigrants not eligible to work uses someone else's details to work, salary is paid to the details of the person being used and they settle each other afterwards.

Some international students here do the same so as to beat the 20hrs rule

Hi Gurus in the house, I’ve a question cheesy is it true that these shady agencies can sell your details to people without kpali so they can use ur to work? I’m genuinely curious because on my previous reply on the student thread, I had posted about two people I know that were refused PSW and marched back to Nigeria on grounds that their NI were checked, and discovered they broke the 20hrs rule. I reached out to the other one that actually applied for tier two, and she swore she never did more than 20hrs that she’s sure it was one of these agencies that must have given her details to people to work with. She’s planning to hire an immigration lawyer but I’m here asking to satisfy my curiosity becauseeee it’s scary if it’s true grin
That is not possible, they used her Details to create an ID? Her payslip posted to two different addresses ? At one point she will be working in two different places at the same time? Her NI will be linked to two different bank accounts at least?
