zone51: Goodday house,
Please someone should kindly respond to this.
The wife has a business with a shop here in Nigeria and a website. As an applicant, can she continue to run her online business which will include taking order and deliver within Uk while schooling? No, that will go against her student visa rule |

Ugmama: @justwise, It's good to ask questions cos I never knew that having two marriage certificates is illegal in the UK.
Here in Nigeria, couple do marry traditionally, then proceed to court wedding, then summarize with white wedding. It's a norm here which I thought was OK.
Ladies in particular swear they must do white wedding even after they must have done trad and court wedding.
It's just societal influence and peer pressure , my intent is just to make my wife happy. That's why I asked if it was possible to do white wedding in UK, after we had wedded in court and done traditional rights in Naija.
Thanks for all inputs. We learn, unlearn and relearn! That is exactly what its nothing more. I see it as a total waste of money and time. |

Ugmama: @mimilyrics You understand this well, she really wants to wear the wedding dress, slay and snap pictures shikena. That's her happiness.
@justwise yes many people I know did trad, court marriage and white wedding.
Yes i know that happens in Nigeria a lot (i don't see the sense in it) but i haven't seen such here, that was why i asked mimilyrics that question |

mimilyrics: More like a court wedding and a garden wedding-like ceremony that doesn't require any legalities.
The white wedding is technically a westerners white/legal wedding but many Nigerians, especially the ladies, don't see it like that hence, the need to want a court wedding, traditional wedding and white "aka church" wedding.
The "white" wedding per the above scenario may be planned to be a garden party with the bride wearing white, with a "pastor" officiating nd the attendees treating it like the main wedding. Example of this 1. Annie and 2baba's Dubai beach wedding. 2. Annie and 2baba's 10th year renewal of vows ceremony in SA.
Many ladies have always built up ideas of how they want their wedding ceremonies to be and when they have registry weddings without an after-party, they feel like they've been cheated out of getting married and they feel like they are not truly married till they wear a white wedding dress for a "white" wedding. Many ladies in Nigeria do this and feel this way.
This is just me trying to see from the dependant's point of view since getting legally married to the same person twice, irrespective of the situation, is impossible except a divorce is 1st effected. Got that. |

mimilyrics: She probably wants a ceremonial party which most people who have quiet ceremonies usually want. This is my guess based on the circumstances explained. This will afford her the opportunity to take the amazing wedding pictures with a wedding gown that she didn't take during her court wedding Any other "wedding" won't fly since they are legally married already. Can one do court and white wedding? |

humility101: Our ogas and madams in the UK..
Bikonu, ejoor , make una dey tell us some of the dos and donts to observe in the UK, make person no enter wahala.
3 stories that sent shivers down my spine.
1, An African nurse was praying for a patient. She ended up losing her license.
2, A Nigerian couple went to jail cos one of them flogged their son.
3, Someone while being robbed of her phone fought back and injured the thief The police still charged her.
Recently got a job offer in the UK... wouldn't want my name to be on the criminal record. Very difficult to get a job with that. 1. That story is true ,the nurse was negligent, rather than calling ambulance/help when the patient was having a seizure she decided to start praying. 2. Flogging a child or beating a child here will land you in jail as such action is regarded as child abuse. 3. I don't know about that story, may be the individual used disproportionate force and inflict serious injury on the thief. |

claremont: It's actually what the data and research into this issue says, not my opinion. A contrary argument might be for people to generalize, without evidence, that black kids are more prone to violence as compared to white kids. You tell me why Asians are not stabbings themselves at the rate blacks does just about in any city you see concentration of blacks. Asians does not face institutional racism or deprived of certain privileges? |

claremont: Unfortunately, if a racially biased stop and search policy was a solution to black on black violence in London, it would have since solved it. This isn't the case. Black on black violence in London and other major cities is mainly due to social deprivation in inner city communities and institutional racism. A child of a single parent living in a 2 bedroom flat in a run down council estate in White city, Hammersmith doesn't think the same way as a child with 2 parents acting as role models living in a 4 bedroom townhouse in Westminter.
There was a time many years ago when Glasgow was the epicentre of white youths stabbing themselves. It wasn't addressed by random stop and searches. It was addressed by investment in the inner city communities where this violence takes place, role modeling etc Its not, i really don't know why we keep saying this. |

Unity19: Hi Guyz,
My brother is married with three kids and he is planning to migrate to the UK on an education visa. He is a chartered accountant with a masters degree already but his wife has Bsc. The kids are between the ages of 1 to 5yrs. He has been asking some questions which I can't answer.
1. Who should apply for the education visa? Him or the wife? 2. How much will it cost for IHS for the family? 3. Concerning children's education, is it free in the UK? 4. What type of visa will be dependants apply for? 5. Which university and state can he or she apply to that is not too expensive? 6. Should they are granted the visa, how can they get an affordable flight? 7. Since the objective is to Japa ultimately, how can it be done, since they traveled on an education visa. 8. He is also considering Canada. Which of UK and Canada is the easiest? 9. Any other advice will be well appreciated?
Please those that are knowledgeable should kindly assist.
Thank you for your anticipated response. 1. The husband should be the main applicant considering his profession. Read first page of this link for answers to other questions or post your questions there https://www.nairaland.com/6954875/uk-student-visa-tier-4 |

I have read from so many people here over the years who claimed to be a bankers with the same argument you are making here still that doesn't change the fact that the embassy will find out if an applicants using fake bank statement or removed the money after submitting the application. |

HRprof: No embassy have access to applicant bank account they can only confirm the authenticity of the statement of account you provided from the bank and work with the inflows shown on the statement . Is against bank rule to disclose transactions or give third party access to their customers bank account. Is only EFCC with government authority can have access to request bank statement from bank for investigation and must bring Authorized letter from government. This is not true, leef2022 is right, lets stop misleading people about this |

I bet if voting is still the way to become a moderator, a lot of your "enemies" wouldn't allow you to win it 1. Any ad for position of a mod is more or less a voluntary service, mods don't get paid but supermods do, I'm not sure voting system is used anymore..probably more of selection by the admin. 2. You are not far from the truth, over the years i have managed to accumulate a lot of enemies here. |
