stanvesco: @Justwise
You are doing a wonderful work here. Kudos to you. I have some burning Questions please.
Would a fully funded PhD cover dependents visa, IHS etc
My wife's expecting two fully funded PhDs and I am anticipating acceptance. Why? Excellent undergraduate result and an MSc of 6.9/7.0 from a very topnotch federal University in Nigeria. I have deeply prayed and now I want to do my own part.
Please back to my question please. Paradventure she secures one of the two fully funded PhDs and from what I read here so far she doesn't need proof of fund and IHS.
However I as the dependent and one child. Are we covered by the funding? Do we ( me and my daughter) both need the POF and IHS?
The major wahala is I need to prepare the POF account in advance paradventure her acceptance and CAS comes in any moment. (We dream of emigrating together)
Please I want to be lazy and wait for the outcome of the admission process. However the oversabi mediko in me wants to plan everything out in advance and it's stressing me! Your advice would help greatly Biko.
Summary; 1) would the 2 dependents to someone offered a fully funded PhD require POF and IHS 2) Should I go now as a dependent or wait to follow my Plab pathway?
Please I have stayed too long in this "about-to-japa" pathway Congratulations to you and your family. Now to your question..the devil is in the details of that scholarship, some can be very generous to cover accompanying family members while some are not, you just have to wait and see or read up in the school website for clue about details of their scholarships. |

Ugmama: Lol! Please advise how it's done over there and the one I should look at for?
You know Naija people dey stay for self-contain or facemeiface you .
Any headup (advice) on getting accommodation fast in UK for a couple. Search for studio or bedsit accommodation in websites people have already mentioned, you can include gumtree in that list but be very very careful because scammers are very much present in gumtree. Just line up accommodations to view the moment you get to the UK |

Ugmama: @justwise is it possible for man and wife to stay in a single room in UK till they find their feet, or shared apartment, or must be double room? Single room in the UK means a small room that can only fit in for a small bed for one person while double room is the opposite . I can't see how a couple can sleep in a single bed room, is either one person sleep on top of another person on the floor. If the shared apartment is double bed room then no prob as long as the landlord/lady agrees to that arrangement |

Cjaylawson: I just find out now that my wife is pregnant with twins Tru scan will our ihs be sufficient and secondly can she have d baby in UK den come back to Nigeria to spend some month in Nigeria before going back to UK pls duchess justwise and all d gurus in d house should advice me pls Congratulations!! Really happy for you.. Now to your question... this is going to cost you money, not for delivery but after delivery. Firstly you need a suitable accommodation for family of 3(studio accommodation is out of it) , baby materials for the twin. There is no free money coming from the govt, yes if your wife is employed and worked for a year she will get her maternity leave paid for 9months . Delivery in the UK is definitely a good idea but after delivery is when the real cost sets in. So please think and plan well Congratulations again |

dduchess90: Hello,
Not intentional, it has been a busy day and I can't seem to post from duchess90 acct anymore(not sure why)
Plus that is a long request and will need alot of research to come up with such a list if at all.
The only thing I am going to add is that people should try to look out for companies that have the license to sponsor skilled workers visa and keep a track or notification on their career page for adverts and apply.
Some companies may not be on the list but are willing to go through the process for the right candidate.
Here's a link; https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/register-of-licensed-sponsors-workers
One of these days I'll circle back on this

please I need advice on this please
I'm the main Applicant... I did my biometric 9th May.. I sent a paid mail 30th May, status says that decision has been made that I should give 10 working days to get a collection mail.. up till now no mail for collection...
My dependants wants to apply as thier pof is over 28 days already...
Please should I wait to pick up my visa before I apply for them so I can indicate that MA visa is ready or I can just apply for them and tick MA visa not ready..
Any advantages or disadvantages.... You can wait or apply for them now as long as you are not recycling the same money you used for your own application |

Please, is it possible to transfer from one University in the UK to another University in the UK on the same course?
I am currently studying Nursing, and I am almost done with my first year. Still, for some personal family reasons and the level of racism in my current city (there are very few blacks in my current city), I would like to transfer to a University in the Midlands for Mental Health Nursing in September for my second year. I have been in talks with the University I want to move to, and it looks like it will be positive.
My only fear now is with my Student Visa.
Do I have to return to Nigeria to apply for a new Student Visa when the new University gives me a CAS, or can I apply for a new student visa within the UK? Contact the new university to discuss this, if your current university allows you to leave and the new one is willing to admit you then you will be fine |

erico2k2: erm how are they meant to know the Old pound notes? etc$ area easier to get than £ cos BTC in Nigeria convert their £ to $ at the 1st opportunity. You also forget the point I made that you can convert it back to ££ once in the Uk at no commission and might even had gained against the £ at that point. No commission yes but that is just a distraction for a very low rate |
Travel › Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by justwise(mod): 9:24am On Jun 14, 2022 |
erico2k2: Well yes, commission free at Morrisons, its safer than risking buying fake Pounds by the road side. You are more prone to buying fake $ than fake £. well that's my opinion from personal experience. you want to know that worse part? is buying Old pound note we no longer use. All the same, the same people that will sell fake £ will have fake $ as well. There is no point converting naira to dollar in Nigeria then convert it again from $ to £ when you get to the UK. |

WatchYourSix: So what you are saying is ...even though the dependant rode into uk on the t4 visa of the main applicant....the dependent can still apply for post study visa without the main applicant whos visa has ended before the end of dependent's programme....?? Ok This is all about planning before leaving Nigeria as a couple, if you do that then the main applicant will still be in status, if the main applicant applies for Sep admission and the dependant applies for Jan they have 4months gap, that 4 months gap is covered by visa duration of the main applicant after graduation. Just a side note...if you stick to the rules your PSW will not be refused...its almost automatic |

WatchYourSix: I want to ask....If a dependant is studying to get a masters degree....naturally the dependant's masters will end after the main apllicants programme since the dependant will start his or her masters after arriving in the uk...
What happens to the dependents study if the main applicant's t4 visa ends and denied post study visa....?? Nothing..dependant graduates and apply for PSW |

Make them return back me we check something Send them money for ticket to return back, many will thank you for life. For thousands of people its not just about returning home, they can't afford it, they have no place to return to after many years abroad living illegally, so they are stucked, the longer you live abroad illegally the difficult it becomes to return home, you are like a gambler waiting for that big win to stop gambling but it never happen and your addiction grows daily. |

People always feel discouraged because they did not get preferred answer to their illegal way of traveling.
Nobody with money and plan feel discouraged about traveling abroad because they have done their research and know what they want.
If you find legal way of traveling abroad then plan and go ahead ...i will always encourage that
The rest? Don't waste your time and the little money you have because you are going to suffer living abroad illegally. if you see this as discouragement then deal with your low self-esteem |

Tawak: If a student gets pregnant while studying in the UK and gives birth, what are the implications (visa, hospital bills etc.) for the mother and child? There is no hospital cost, you need to discuss with your university so as to give you more time to complete your course and also support your visa extension |

ednut1: the country wey he committed the crime have claimed him wholeheartedly. And made no reference to Nigeria. Why should we as Nigerians now help in spoiling our own name further. Is this not how biased and stereotypes are formed The next patient that notices a doctor is Nigeria might begin to doubt the tests being recommended Which Nigeria image are you trying to protect? The already rotten one? Who doesn’t know us? I found it strange that you are worried about the image of Nigeria and not the crime committed |

ednut1: sigh here we go again lol. Most countries protect their own. We do the opposite and later cry when the consequences comes back to bite us. Indian scammers are the major scammers in Canada but no one judges or stereotypes indians here as scammers. Why No country should protect a criminal and this is exactly why Nigeria is full of corrupt officials. Why do you want to protect him ? How about those he defrauded? |

ednut1: There was no mention of country of origin in the original article. Canada media does not put country of origin of people who commit crimes. But you a Nigerian journalist had to put Nigeria. Why are we doing this to ourselves. The man bleeped up and his career is over . He probably learnt it from his fellow doctors. Greedy man If he had discovered a cancer drug you would have called him a Nigerian even if Canadian press refused to mention his country of origin |

kode12: Credit scores aren't much of a determinant for anything don't worry too much about the fluctuating scores, it will settle with time. I'd advise you leave your first UK bank account open even after opening a new bank account. The age of your oldest account is quite useful i.e the older the better. This is very important |
