You spent at least one year in US out of 2yrs and that is a problem. If you are employed how were you able to get more than one month leave each year? Your employment status will be questioned.
Go for the interview and be completely honest hopefully you will get a visa but don’t be surprised if you are refused more than once. |

butter: Folks, i need your help in this dilemma I'm in
We applied for a b1/b2 visa via Dropbox sometime in Feb and got a white 221g slip asking us to reappear for an interview. Due to our busy schedules we didn't pick up the passports till what later turned out to be the last day for booking a date under the 221g. We picked farthest date being sometime later towards the end of March. I figured they want to ask why we've been in the US several times over the last 2 years and what we've been doing.
A bit of background: we've been in the US several times over the last 2 years. Initially to attend a family reunion during which we spend some weeks, next to do a couple of exams and attend a couple of school interviews as we were interested in pursuing further education. We're professionals in the medical field. By the way, i was successful and got a school willing to allow me come and do my desired program. All these took a couple of months to achieve and we got leave from work to do so. We have family in the US and they were ok with helping us out accommodation wise. We also spent good time together as well, my spouse especially who hadn't seen the folks including parents for nearly 20years. Her father's health has been in decline, he's advanced in age and he really enjoyed having her and the kids especially around.Throughout out stay, we didn't have recourse to public funds in any way, we didn't overstay beyond the time allotted on the passports at the POE. We both have travel history having traveled to various countries before for conferences and to visit family. When we applied for the dropbox, we weren't planning to travel till year end, to visit. We just wanted to do the dropbox thing and be done with it.
the dilemma is this: The information from the school came late. It came in After we've already applied for the dropbox so i know at some point I'll have to appear for an interview for a student visa. I do not plan to have my family over in the US while I'm in school. It's pointless given the careers we have to stand still for 2 years, so no point in having them over especially my spouse.
i know we will be asked what we did over the last 2 years. My spouse is of the opinion we tell them apart from spending time with family, we also wrote exams etc. I feel that is at odds with the purpose for the visa which is to visit family. I've been reading on threads here that if you have to do something different, you must notify the consulate in Nigeria. At the time i didn't know this.
I am also afraid a refusal at the 221g may also affect the student visa interview as par steering the conversation away from my intending studies etc to this matter. Also i don't know if the whole issue may result in having our passports taken for the so called admin processing which i hear can take weeks. I don't want to lose this admission as it's a real career booster and not many Nigerians have it. It was also very tough and the school considers their seat exclusive and won't even defer. (Its a doctorate in my field and I'm the first African, not just Nigerian they're taking on). School will be resuming by late june and it's a 2 year program.
The dilemma is this: do we go for the 221g interview? And how do we explain our activities in a way the VO will find acceptable.
My instinct is to cancel this interview but I've been told if we do so, then that means we have something to hide, I'm thinking of writing to them asking for a rescheduling for a longer time so i can show up for the student visa interview without this clouding anything up. We also do not mind submitting a fresh application if need be. Then there's also the issue of our application being a joint one. It's my understanding that all of us must be present.
I am confused to be honest.
Cc: Justwise 1. Are you employed? 2. How many times did you visit US in the past 2yrs? 3. How long did you stay in each visit? Don't cancel the appointment because doing that will not help your case by any means |

Please kindly help me with these questions;
1) I want to apply for uk visa for my daughter(who is a year old) and I...how do I put my daughter’s visa application in one account with mine on gov.uk because sub visa type is showing anything on visa4uk
2) who should I put as paying part of the trip.. is it my husband or his employer (his family company where he is the MD ) or my employer (my family company where I am a director)
3) what duration of visa can I apply for my daughter as this is her first time..
Thank you. 1. You have to apply separately for her. 2. Both of you or one of you but company's account shouldn't be used, the cost of the trip should come from your personal account 3. 6 months |

I am inviting my mother-in-law to the UK to stay with us for a short while, see her grandkids and her daughter (my wife) who she hasn't seen for almost 5vyears since she left Nigeria. I will be sponsoring the trip and have enough balance and earnings to cover that. I know tgat while I'll be sponsoring the trip financially, she still needs to show evidence of her financial state; that's where the problem lies. She is a trader who owns a street shop not registered with CAC, no business bank account and no properly documented business activities ( the typical Naija trader). How do we go about filling the part and showing evidence of her financial situation? Any suggestion woukd be welcome, thanks. Considering her situation and nature of business there is nothing much you can do, just explain it in the form the way you did here |

ekpanbaghi: Good morning.
Kindly assist with a question on my finances. I earn about 320k monthly and work in a govt agency. I have had multiple 6 months and 2 yr UK visit visas and now wish to apply for 5 yrs. I also have had multiple expired/used schengen tourist visas.
Over 3 million entered my acct since January for upfront allowances from my employers but bulk loan repayment brought my balance down to 20k. From salary and quarterly allowances in April I shall have up to 2 million by June when I intend to apply.
Q1: Would this current reduced balance of 20k affect me when i apply in June even if I attach the loan papers and explain in the space for additional information?
Q2: If so, should I just apply much later in the year when this reduced balance will be taken care of by the healthy balances that would come in from employment source?
Thank you for your assistance. 1. That is the right thing to do and it will help your application |

I am a MSc Student at North Cyprus and I am here with my wife who is also an MSc student here.
My father is a British and he wants me and my wife to come and visit him in the UK during the summer. In the letter, he’s going to explain that he will sponsor the trip.
My question is that, do I need to prove I have some funds as well? How do I convince the consular to a reasonable extent. Is your daddy ready to send you his bank statement and transfer money for your ticket? |

mosky47: Hello Justwise et al.
I've got a few questions:
1. I have a letter of invitation from a family friend in the UK. Do I need to get their bank statement and data page as well? Or is the invitation letter sufficient? 2. I am sponsoring myself for the journey. How many months of bank statement do I need? Or is a closing balance enough? 3. In my bank account, there was a large deposit which is from maturation of Treasury bills purchased 6 months ago. I plan to attach the treasury bill purchase certificate which shows date of purchase and date of maturation. I hope this is okay. 4. For the residential address, I live in my family house; been here for nearly 20 years. No C of O. Do I need to submit anything at all?
Thank you for the guidance on this page. 1. yes you have to 2. 6 months bank statement, you should do your budget to know how much the trip will cost you and how much you should have in your account 3. Yes 4. No |

duni04: What I'm actually trying to find out is very specific. Will the CV i submitted to the Uni be included in my CAS statement that the school will issue and that the UKVI will use in processing my students visa? If yes then I'll just speak with the school and tell them I made a mistake on the CV i submitted and ask to send the correct one. If they refuse i'll just abandon that school and apply to another. My admission offer is conditional as I haven't paid anything yet. Your CV will not be sent to the embassy but it will be registered in the CAS system along with other documents you sent to your school |

duni04: Hello everyone. Please this goes out to the experts in the house - justwise especially. I have been to the UK recently on holiday and I submitted a bunch of documents including my CV when applying for my tourist visa. I recently got offered admission to a top uni in London for a course I have no Bsc background in but in which I have years of experience. My concern is that in applying to the uni for this course, I used a CV with inflated years of experience compared to the one I previously submitted to the UKVI before i went on holiday in the UK. Will that in any way affect my chances when applying for a Student Visa? You are asking this question too late because no answer will prevent what may or may not happen. Just hope and pray that the ECO doesn't find out but if it turns out the opposite then it will be a refusal. |
