Good mornin nairalanders. A friend of mine got an email that his visa lottery he applied for years back is successful. As for me I suspected a foul play as he said it was in the year 2010 he applied for the lottery and am sure if one's visa would be granted through lottery, it shouldn't take 5years. And one more thing about the mail is that, they said he should file for all that is needed and make a payment of $1,250 withing 7 working days. Pls fellow nairalander, could be real or scam? Has anyone got this kinda email recently? I posted this because it's often said that two good heads are better than one.
This is a scam, how old is your friend even? Played visa lottery in 2010 and won it in 2015?

Hmmm.. na em be say i dey bigger soup na.... because i'm planning to go as a tourist before he jumped into the picture... to start with my predicament, First of all can one get international passport just by submitting only passport?? sorry for asking too much?
You can't because your fingerprint and other biometric details are needed and you have to be there in person

Travelling... i mean.. dunno about the visa... He has gone to 5 countries i can attest to... Trinidad, Brazil,Panama, Mozambique & U.S ofcuz
That got nothing to do with the fraud he is about to commit, Anyway you will learn from the experience but after this your chances of getting visa to US in future has been reduced only if all the documents he submitted on your behalf are all fake including your name.

Hello everyone, I've been following this thread silently for a few months now and I can't even start listing all the facts and bits of info I've picked up on here...@Justwise, @Portsmouth86, @Lexusgs430 and @Oreskid your posts have been very very helpful please keep up the brilliant job!!! Now to share my timeline with you guys. Note I started evidence collection and application in the UK before traveling to lagos with my sponsor/fiancée(now wifey). We paid a most brilliant lawyer(nasty and expensive but bloody good) who did a fantastic job. Anyway here's our timeline

Monday 16th November had TB test at the Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC)
Lagos

Tuesday 17th November had pre marriage Counselling and meeting at the Ministry of Interior Marriage Registry
Ikoyi Lagos.

Wednesday the 18th of November
Got married at Ikoyi Marriage Registry.

Thursday 19 November 2015, 10:00am Appointment at
Teleperformance Ikeja Lagos (Got there half an hour late so paid for premium lounge)
Also Paid for PRIORITY SERVICE!

Monday 23rd November sent supporting documents from London to Sheffield via Royal Mail next day recorded delivery with tracking number
Supporting documents arrive at Sheffield on Tuesday 24th November at 7:23am.

Thursday 3rd December sponsor received email stating that decision has been made and that we will be notified sometime in the next 48 hours.

Tuesday 8th December received another email stating that decision has been made and Passport despatched.

Monday 14th December received email from Tlscontact that passport is ready for pick-up.

Picked up passport on Tuesday 15th December, lo and behold inside it was my shiny Spouse Visa!!!!

The decision making took just 8 days from when application was received which I believe is down to paying for priority service and also having a well prepared and indexed application. The wait and not knowing is ridiculously stressful but can look forward to honeymooning and planning the church wedding in quaint Cranleigh. Good luck to @Portsmouth86 and all others awaiting a decision, I will still be active on here so can answer questions. Cheers
Congratulations! Really happy for you

Once your in the UK and towards the end of your 6 months of fp you will need to apply for the UK residents card which will be valid for 5yrs after which you apply for the permanent residents permit.

It costs £65 for each person included in an application, plus you would be required to pay for your biometrics at a cost of £19.20 from certain post offices.

Here's the link for what you need, I hope it helps

Please i need ur urgent answer, my friend is preparing a sponsored visit for me to US, on his letter he pledge to take responsibility of me and that he will be held accountable for any of my action in the state, the thing here is, he’s married to a white woman, so he’s automatically a citizen… well we’ve paid agent to arrange the necessary documents , we submitted here including international passport, he said his wife have submitted all required documents in U.S, including a surety from his wife friend, because they said his wife must bring a third party to attest that the woman knows what she’s doing… To cut long story short, he said everything is okay now(Between the whole process took almost 3 months) that he’ll be expecting flight itineraries sooner or later from wifey(Also he said after getting everything set, he’ll be traveling to pick me up, we won’t be going same time)… Also, that they called him to come and sign some relevant stuffs as a sponsor in Nigeria US Embassy to pick the documents as well on my absence as none appearance, note, he said his wife sent his number to one man (Yoruba Man )in Nigeria Embassy Abuja that called him up… So the Ultimate Question here is, is it possible for anyone to collect traveling document with stamped international passport from Nigeria US embassy without the actual person presencehuh i brought this up here because i kept wondering the authenticity of this package since he insist i won’t follow him to Abuja Embassy… Please i need a serious contribution from experience person, is it possible?
@justwise
schweinsteiger:
Since you've spoken... make i watchout... not worried about the money spent tho, just the time wasted & effort put in...
Since you paid an agent to 'arrange' those documents i will advice you to stay away from American embassy even if invited for an interview because you are more likely to be banned. Or write the embassy to withdraw the application...your choice though

All scam, as a first timer you must attend an interview at American embassy. Your friend is a fraudulent individual.

Can I ask you please. How did you prove the sufficient accommodation stuff requirement to show there won't be over crowding.

I read HO wants to see property inspection report. ? The surveyor I contacted said it will cost £185 which sounds ridiculous to me
Do you live in multi occupant accommodation?

I guess we need to take stock of activities in this thread since January.

Reason

I posted a job advert here abt 2 days ago for tourists. (was later hidden)

Thank God som1 later picked d slot.

But something is not clear to me

Since January

How many DIY (Our Watchword) did we record here dis year?

How many walk in interview did we post this year?

How many people got employed through the walk-in interview we posted this year?

How many people returned home empty-handed without job this year?

It is important we all ask ourselves and see how we fared.

Its saddening when I hear som1 returned bk home without job, when there are some job links for tourists.

I guess somethings should be reviewed as we enter into another year.

I wish all tourists best of luck, but as for me, THE HIDDEN POST WILL BE MY LAST FOR ANY TOURIST.
Start helping jobless Nigerians around you there first, this thread will not be used to post jobs with 'links' or 'connection'

pillarmaria:
Since seun announced the restriction of pro-biafran topics, I have come to notice the following.
1. Igbos now see seun as a tribalist.
2. Even the mods have mixed feelings about it.
3. Topics no longer hit FP as usuals, thereby making nairaland a bit boring.
4. Yorubas feel much comfortable with the rule.
5. Most biafran apologists have exited Nairaland cos they feel unjustly treated.
6. There has been lesser cases of tribal wars cos the Igbo warlords are nowhere to be found. (its always fun reading/learning from peoples hate speeches).
7. The rule has created more hate than intended. Most igbos feel suen is trying to be on the side of greater Nigerians.
8. Seun might be in regrets now. Since suen has remained silent about the pleas to revisit the rule, whatelse can we think of?
9) above all, the rule is a violation of human right. We have freedom to express ourselves and our believe.
10) Mr Suen, please revisit the rule.
I'm 100% Igbo and I support the rule. I started banning Biafra tolls even before the rule was introduced

Emrey:
Bros you no lie..Na Fake me carry go ooo..but Na only me know say Na fake ..I come get luck say the guy man consuls no bother check any of my document...
Maybe your elder brother went with fake documents as well after you were lucky to escape with a visa after submitting fake documents yourself.

Are this ok? Coz this are the only supporting document I can get coz he doesn't have a passport and national Id to support it not even driving license.
If you are traveling with a minor then that will increase the financial requirement from your sponsor, please read the financial requirement for spouse visa application when a child is involved

Evening everyone!

Please help a sister in need, its very urgent,
My husband was on Tier 1 Visa and early this year got his settlement Leave to remain, we are legally married. Am in Nigeria and am trying to make my visa application to join him, we ve gathered all the documents required by God's grace and have booked a date on 21 of this month but we having issues on the health sur charge when filling the form on line, its showing that we are to pay $2800 USD which is just out of place because before that application I checked on line and it's 6000 pounds and the major problem is that there is no route of going back to make corrections on my application, please am confused and I don't know what do and how to go about it.
Secondly I want to pay for the visa fee in Abuja but it seems I can not directly to them here as it must be online, please I need help as time is not on my side.
Thank you so much
Since you haven't paid for the application you can start another one if you made a mistake, the health sur charge should be about £500 because it's £200 per year multiplied by number of years visa you will be given..you will be given two and the half years visa
All payments are made online. All the info you need is here just take your time and read current posts.
