Remember that you need to attach separate letter addressing the refusal point, add all means of communication you have...call logs, emails, Skype, whatsapp, BBM, facebook messages.....basically all the means you have used to communicate.

Evidence of money sent to you, gift etc.....if he doesn't send money then explain how you have been surviving since he left.....its important that you explain these things to the ECO.

I haven't checked this but i don't think the £18600 financial requirement applies to spouse living here already on student visa.

No its not that complicated process....

I, Mr XXXXX, a student at XXXX university with Passport Number XXXXXX and DOB XXXX, do hereby declare that i am formally inviting my wife (your name), with DOB; XXXXX and Passport number XXXX to join me bla bla .....

He will email it to you to include in your application package.

For the Invitation that he will send by email, will it be addressed to me or to UKVI?

To Entry Clearance Officer (ECO) or simply to British embassy Abuja/ Lagos Nigeria

My worry now is the invitation letter. If he sends a new one, by the time it gets here, the statement of account might be 30 days old and the money in the account right now is not cool if I decide to get a new statement.

Ok... The real way to even detect a virus isn't by having some Anti-AV installed on your PC. SInce you're the MOD here, I will advice you get SANDBOXIE from the internet (filehippo can help), install it and run the program sandboxed.


NB: to all, it is advisable to run a program sandboxed before really running it directly on your pc. By doing this, you will get to know if the program drops any suspicious file(s)... This days, The best way to get rid of Viruses is by doing it manually. Anti-Avs ain't all that good no more.

Antivirus does pop up an alert... But, it doesn't mean the file is corrupted. Now, The link(directxex) must have been blacklisted by your AV... Shit happens.

Not only that my anti virus program flagged it up, even my browser did not open it rather it shows default page.

Canada , i doubt. do you know the stress and time it takes to get Canada visa. they even go for medicals ad all sort and you do not even know your fate until you get your passport back. Canada visa takes patience but US visa can be gotten easily if you can follow simple rules and you also know your fate instantly plus some people can go with fake documents and still get the US visa. lastly the immigration rule in USA is easy.

Canada at the moment has the most friendlier immigration policy towards foreign students, it takes longer time to process study permit for Nigerian prospective students because some Nigerians are fraudulent and documents submitted can not be taken on face value, it takes lesser time for other countries.

Canada is not the only country that ask for medical examination, Australia does and application process for Australia is even harder and their immigration rules is not friendly.

The UK immigration policies changed in recent years leaving foreign students with little opportunity to stay back and work after graduation while Canada gives foreign students that opportunity.

Though the article was published this week but the data used was gathered 2yrs ago and a lot has changed since then.

You are being unnecessarily defensive for nothing, you still don't get it.

You did not answer the question.....is the 25m her business profit or her business capital? Did you include her tax certificate? How many people did she employ in her business? E.g tax certificate will give an idea how well the business is doing. Your sister can only sponsor you with her net profit and not the gross.

Having 25m in her account as a business woman does not mean that she can afford to sponsor you.

The most important thing is cash availability for you throughout the duration of your study.

Plz guyz...I really do need ur help...a family friend of ours is inviting me over to london...he's a red passport holder...he asked for some documents like school certificate,passport number,passport photograph,my full name,my parents full name,address,state of origin and their dates of birth which I've sent...he said he would book an appointment for me right from london and he would do the visa interview on my behalf but said I should get a bank statement ready...he said he would send some documents to me thru dhl which I would submit together with my passport and bank statement to the UK embassy here in lagos...but worry now is...I don't have a job and I don't have a dime in my bank account...My dad's bank statement is not that rich due to his low business activities....I told the man helping me and he said I should try and get maybe a local govt bank statement if I know someone in d local govt beside me...sincerely I'm really disturbed as this seems to be d only problem I'm having with this whole visa stuff....please I need ur help...I don't want to bug that man with all dis problem,I want to try and fix things in order to make everyfin go smoothly....plz guyz I need ur help asap...what should I do,what is the way forward for me?

The way forward is to do nothing because the whole arrangement smells fraud.

Nobody can attend visa interview on your behalf, you can't use local govt bank statement because that is silly to even think of, you don't work there, even if you do you still can't use it and its fraud.

Lastly be careful before you get 10 years ban from British embassy for submitting fraudulent application.

Nice insight but let me tell you why my app was a shock to everyone.
My sponsor is a senior banking offical with annual package of more than 8m, still single and blood siblibing, though balance was low, it was actually her salary account. co sponsor was a business owner with a very high volume of transaction in her business account and a fdp of 25m, Still blood sibling and single.
I am the last sibling and every other person in the family has a permanent good job including my bro who just finished his pdg has a good offical job in canny.
So insufficient funds was the last excuse anyone expected to be the reason for refusal.
My SOP i consider very brilliant because I addressed every aspect of my life and benefits of the program.
I read this thread everyday and i have reasons to believe that between sept and November the VOS got really harsh.
Which makes me beat myself why I didn't apply really early as i had my admission since may-june, i was waiting for a program from another school but when it wasn't forth coming,i decided to use what I already have.
Plus I felt I should let them treat sept applicants, now I know better.
I will give it one more try adding a few more things to my app and my sure there is liquid cash in the SOA.
We can only do what we can and hope for on God for the best.

1. If she earns 8m a year and her account is running low what does that tell you?

2. If a business person has 25m in the account, how much of that money is actual profit?

Whoever wrote that article should be sacked for not including Canada as the new preferred destination for foreign students.

I see where you are coming from and I appreciate your response.

To start with, the SOPs would be redacted so if anyone wants to copy it verbatim it would be at his/her own detriment. Also, anyone who is ready to plagiarize a letter that is stating why he should be granted a Visa is not ready for that Visa. Rather than it giving room to plagiarism, I believe it would give people more ideas of how to go about writing an SOP. Cos as it stands now, not many people have access to SOPs so they have limited knowledge on what is acceptable and appropriate on an SOP.

Once again, thanks for raising that salient point.

It will be a grave mistake for anybody to post his/ her SOP openly here because people will copy it word to word and submit before the owner. SOP should be personal and private.

The recent trend in acceptance of TRV applications has been disturbing and I have been thinking of how we can improve that as a community. Having seen the documents that some people submitted, every thing looks intact and the financials look juicy except for one variable that can not be measured quantitaively - Statement of Purpose. Honestly, I believe we would be receiving higher approval rates if we submit very quality SOPs along with our applications.

I am a fan of the open source paradigm and I believe in crowd-sourcing to make impact. Having said that, the method by which we help others review SOPs on this thread can be improved on. Presently, the applicant sends a PM to a member of the thread and asks for review. The member gives his/her comments about the SOP. This one-to-one mapping would not foster collaborative development. Apart from that, some wrong pieces of advice can be given through PM (innocently and with no bad intentions) and the applicant would swallow it hook, line and sinker.

So what am I proposing, I believe SOPs should be published openly and those who are kind enough to review can do that and post their observations on the thread. The applicant can now get a mental aggregate or summary of all the observations and prepare a better version. Before I continue, the published SOP must be redacted so as not to reveal any personal information or any information that can make anyone trace who you are. You might be asking if it wouldn't consume much space on the thread if it is posted here. No it wouldn't because the applicant would post a link to the redacted SOP. To post a link to a document you need to host it in a cloud storage ish like Google Drive or DropBox.

Many forums like this in other countries use this method. Popular sites like reddit and gradcafe users use this review their applications and SOP. I believe it would help produce higher quality SOPs and Letters and foster collaborative learning as other people can pick up ideas.

For example, this is my redacted SOP I used to apply for admission. Everyone can read it and give pieces of advice as they deem fit. And more importantly, everyone can also vet the pieces of advice that is being given.
