tizzdi: hello guys please any idea of living in leeds while schooling in bradford (UoB)? i’m having a hard time finding a nice studio apartment. major concern is commuting to and fro cc Justwise and others Yes you can live in Leeds and commute to Bradford though it will cost you a bit unless you don't look at price tag. Its about 20mins by train and 45mins by bus. This is the wrong time to look for student accommodation as demand is very high now |

pansophist: compare to the number of blacks in the Uk, the wealthy folks are not a sizeable group, that's my point. Of course, you can find one wealthy guy here and there, but they are a tiny minority. And hey, these are my observations when I visit the UK often, I don't live there, and I have no data to back it up, so please take it at a face value.

Lexusgs430: You don't know network providers devices, have network wallpaper flash wallpapers......
You can unlock locked devices, from your network, after you have paid about half the value (depending on networks).......
Let's not agree to disagree.........
American phones are usually external branded, on most of their devices....... I’m talking about UK phones. |

bigtt76: Considering he studied some choice courses, I wonder why he was unable to score a job to sponsor him or was it that he become complacent due to his romance with a partner or something? I just don't understand Maybe he did not start searching for job on time and allowed his visa to expire or he did not graduate with good results or he gave up searching after few rejections |

Lexusgs430: Nope, all network branded devices would have the brand insignia, either printed on the physical devices are brands app installed........
Samsung devices supplied in the UK, are Tri sim devices.......
Motorola - dual sim Nokia - dual sim Huawei - dual sim
Etc etc etc etc etc..... I'm not sure i agree with you on that. I have never bought or seen a phone with network insignia on it, if its network restricted you will see that in phone setting but not anywhere else. Phones comes now without network restriction even those you get on contract came be unlocked before the end of your contract. |

bigtt76: Happy Sunday fam. Stumbled on this story https://saharareporters.com/2020/12/31/home-office-deport-nigerian-man-after-16-years-uk sad but how do we new entrants avoid whatever could've caused this? I would appreciate your advise pls. @justwise @Lexusgs430 After his student visa expired he was unable to switch to other type of visa or get a job to extend his stay. Though i think he will not be deported since his MP has got involved and considering the fact that he has a daughter here |

Lexusgs430: Only two ways to find out ........
- US network branded - Know importer directly
Any other unbranded device, can come from anywhere.......... once the network restriction is removed from phone i don't think one will be able to know where that phone came from. The usual giveaway is the adapter and sometimes dual Sim tray else you hardly can tell where the phone came from. |

sheelay: @bolded…. I deal on this in Nigeria here. Don’t know if the reason for the term is that the first used phones were brought in from UK, same as using “Belgium used” for cars. But I can authoritatively say for a fact that 80% of used gadgets are actually from the USA. The term is always funny to me tho How will you know that a used phone is from US and not the UK apart from the charger? |

pansophist: Blacks in the UK are broke, and it's disgraceful. If you want to see wealthy black citizens, you'll have to go to Australia and New Zealand. These countries harbours the best of black people. You are talking nonsense there, you don't know jack about blacks in the UK. |

blank: Like Canada, Australia, US. I'm not very conversant with European countries but I heard that Ireland, Netherlands give that opportunity. Something about an EU Blue card.
But leave the UK alone. The schools make the bulk of their revenue from international students. Once that revenue stream dries up, it may make them change their current policies. Same way it pushes them to reinstate the postgraduate 2 year visa. They are all the same also the same Nigerians who will never research or prepare financially before traveling. The UK gives you time to work during and after your graduation the same way Canada and Australia do but the question is.. did you take advantage of it? Travelled with enough money to sustain you? Did you study a course that will help you get employment? If you spent more time working than attending lectures or study groups then how do you expect to do well? How will anybody spend 15-20 million naira to study abroad without proper planning? That person is a thief, he/her did not work for that money. |

blank: I said this earlier as well when I said I regretted doing a Master's in UK. Total waste of time and money. School in a country that would give you the opportunity to emigrate.
People that it works for are medical people, Big 4 accountants, IT people. Like which country? |

Josh121: A lot can go wrong, she is the student, don’t forget she is not carry the pregnancy for 3months, the husband on the other hand will be working more that 40hrs a week, he may not have time to be home as everyone is suggesting. A pregnant woman need someone around her almost always. ( it may not be everyone but I am talking from my own experiences) So all these you mentioned are worse than taking out the pregnancy,? This is not here first or second child so she has an experience Even if she is a student it doesn't change much, all she has to do is to speak to her university and she will be given time to finish her final project. My point is this..abortion is not the easiest solution |

Josh121: Please look at everything squarely, cause I know some women pregnancy can be very stressful. It brings out aggressiveness, if this happen it will affect everything you ever want to do here. That been said if you check and it looks tough pls and pls abortion is free in UK. Don’t put stress on yourself that will affect you and your mental health. What is the worse that will happen if she keeps the baby compared to aborting it? |

Joyfuljoyful: Oh thank you so much for this. ! I've been feeling so all alone trying to keep it to myself. Thank you for your kind words. I truly appreciate it. You are not alone on this, I know at least two families in your situation, one is actually the main applicant and expecting their first child. You can look for weekend jobs that will suit your husband’s study time table while he does night if you can’t handle night shift. |

Joyfuljoyful: Thank you for your reply. The issue of getting a job. I dont know how possible it is to get employment now that I am pregnant as I do not want all the pressure on my husband.
I don't even know how to cope with three kids especially here. I'm also worried about child care and expenses. We had plans of working towards a tier 2 but I am so uncertain of somethings at the moment.
Thanks. You can still work for some months to save a bit to buy baby stuff. Child care shouldn't be an option now unless you have truck load of money, your best option now is night shift so that your hubby will look after the kids after school. Both of you can pull it off just have to scarifies a lot for the next one year |

Joyfuljoyful: Hello everyone.
I want to ask a question please no judging. I recently moved here on student visa with my family. I discovered that I am pregnant now and we already have 2 little boys. I am so scared and worried. I haven't even started work as we only recently settled down. We have only been here 3 months. Please anyone ever been in this situation? How did they navigate it?
Or what advice can anyone give me please. I am so down and feeling defeated already. Please advise me.
Thank you. Joy What worries you most? |
