Something else you can try is banana smoothie. Just blend banana with baby milk and a little water. Kids love it

Its not paunful when administered, but d arm swell up a bit and it feels heavy for d day.dunno if its a coincidence but whenever I take d shot, my usually active baby is always unusually still for like a day or so

Chei!! I rembr my injection experiences as a kid. It was so messy with about 2 nurses holding M̶̲̅ε̲̣ down . One experience stood out. My dad took M̶̲̅ε̲̣ to d clinic, when it was tym for d injection, I started screamin as usual. My dad kept assuring M̶̲̅ε̲̣ that it won't hurt(for where). After taking d injection, my dad told M̶̲̅ε̲̣ to stay put cos d needle was still inside and the need to bring it out. Of course I believed and stood still only to feel anoda sharp pain and d screaming continued. The good part of any injection was the nasco wafers ans fanta my daddy buys afterwards . Nowadays no biggie abt injection jare . I prefer it on d arm than d backside sha

@honeyetty, no be so o, evryone thot someone wud answer ur question, at d end no one did . Hope the answers you got are satisfactory. Personally I gave my older son agbo when he stopped EBF, but small quantity. Also don't give the baby ovaltine till she's at least a year old.

@ayorbamy. Has ur wife stopped breastfeeding? If so then she shud watch her diet. She shud reduce her carbs intake (rice, swallows like eba etc), eat small quantities of food at intervals, she should also watch her sugar intake. Funny thing with M̶̲̅ε̲̣ is that my stomach became flat after I had my first son via cs. Now with my 2nd natural birth, d stomach no wan gree come down . Thank God for Ramadan atleast my weight is finally almost back to normal

Regarding TT(tetanus toxoid). What I was told during my antenatal class was that you need to take 5 shots over a period of 3 years. Missing a shot means you have to start over. Once you've completed all 5 shots, you won't need another even if u get pregnant again. Here's how they said it wud be:
1st shot: taken sometym during 2nd trimester

2nd shot: 6 wks after d 1st shot

3rd shot: 6 months after d 2nd shot

4th shot: 1 year after d 3rd

5th shot: 1 year after d 4th
Here's how mine went
1st: 20th jan 2011(5 mos preggers)
2nd:3rd of march
3rd:3rd of aug
4th:3rd aug 2012 (abt 12 wks preggers with d 2nd)
5th:3rd aug 2013
In a few wks tym I'll be thru with the TT shots. After this I won't need another even for future pregnancies. Also I won't be needing anti tetanus injections when injured.

@mummyf. Congrats on your new blessing. May God see u thru a successful pregnancy. I think its common practice in the private hospital I had my kids to induce labour. They said it makes for shorter labour and quick delivery. I wasn't induced cos of my past cs, they said the tablet my injure my still scarred womb. Wonder how painful it is, uninduced labour sef is sooo darn painful.

Both my babies hated drinking plain milk, went from SMA to Nan, same thing. As long as u incorporate it with pap,custard or cereal I guess its ok. My baby gal rejected drinking milk dissolved it water but takes cereal and pap.

I am now 17weeks, my tummy is still so flat as if i just had a normal meal. i cant wait for it to shoot out properly. God has been good. My nausea has reduced, though i still vomit once a while, my terrible smell sensitivity has also reduced--i can now have a normal life and stop perciving all the gutters, dustbins, and rats several kilometres away.

My Muslim preggies, how do u cope with the fasting? I fasted yesterday and i started feeling hypoglycemic and shaking by 11am. I completed the fast though. So i'm taking a rest today. Ramadan Kareem to us all.

17 wks and ur tummy is still flat . I de jealous o. Concerning the fast, even though its not forbidden for preggy women to fast, its not encouraged. Anything that has the potential of hurting you or your baby should be avoided. This is the first time in 3 Ramadhans that I'll be fasting. I've been pregnant/breastfeeding 2010. I'm happy to be taking part this year. Tk care of yourself for ur baby. May Allah preservr ur life to witness another month of Ramadhan.

Wonderful thread. On the issue of hijab, I believe what's worth doing at all is worth doinf well. The funky hijabs I see these days are a no no. Imagine someone wearing a transparent hijab, barely passing her shoulders, then wears a fitted top and tight jeans ? I see a lot of these in lagos. Even in the North, the hausa girls use their Hijab more as a fashion statement. I'm not judging o, but I feel the Hijab should be used in obedience to Allah and not an accessory.

Ok, I'm d late comer here . Had both my babies here in Nigeria in d same hospital (R Jolad) and I must say their service was impeccable .

With my first, I opted for elective CS cos of d baby's size and fear dey catch M̶̲̅ε̲̣ . Was awake throughout d 30mins surgery and I felt them bring my boy out. That first sound was priceless . Recovery was nasty, Dunno why naija doctors don't give strong pain killers. Just paracetamol :-{ . Thank God for quick recovery.

With my 2nd, during my antenatal, I repeatedely told them I didn't want another CS, they told M̶̲̅ε̲̣ to consider the possibility as my first baby wasn't 2 yrs at the time. They also told M̶̲̅ε̲̣ the couldn't induce labour as the internal scars were probably not healed.

When I finally went into labour on d 12th of january, they took M̶̲̅ε̲̣ into a private ward and administered an injection that wound soften my cervix. After 9 hours with only 3cm dilation, they decided to manually dilate d cervix with a water balloon thingy (dunno d name of d procedure), hurt like crazy. That took the dilation to 5cm, that's when I started to feel the REAL labour pains. They kept giving M̶̲̅ε̲̣ d injection to soften my cervix (each was more painful than d last) finally at 12.05 on d 13th of jan, I was finally fully dilated and ready to push. My lil princess arrived at 12.15am after a lil episiotomy.

The nurses and doctors were rily professional and encouraging M̶̲̅ε̲̣ all thru(even though I was beind a total diva ). They respected my wishes of not wanting CS and did all they could when d cervix wasn't dilating even though they couldn't induce d labour
My naija experience wasn't bad o. Some hospitals here are really good, wonder why some heartless health practitioner would turn a joyous event to a tragedy cos of negligence.

Abeg o, jaundice isn't something to be taken lightly. Please take that baby to the hospital. A neighbour lost her 2wk old to this, they didn't diagnose it on time. Here it has been diagnosed. May God not give any of us the course to chew our finger in regret (ika abamo).

It stands for Packed Cell Volume. It gives an indication of Red blood cells in the body. Its very essential for pregnant women to check their PCVs almost every month as PCV of below 30% means the patient is anaemic.

Simply put. Before the advent of modern medicine, lots of women lost their lives to child birth. Now with ultrasound, blood pressure monitoring and lab investigations, women can be closely monitored and mother/child death can be prevented.
