And how many marabouts have you been to in the Gambia? I can bet my left shoe you don't know any therefore, what you wrote is false. |
Lol, I don't have the authorisation to do so. You can open it up in the general section. |
Oh, you going to a marabout and where your husband comes from has everything to do with this because of your claims. Plus, you said you 'what you have seen' so I don't see anything wrong in asking. Especially, the feeding children to hyenas. Now, you say some alkales, I thought you said many? My point is what majority of marabouts practice is not juju. ![]() |
LOL, cannot believe this. Erm, I'm a lady, you already know I don't shyt but let's just say no. Not even in a friend's house. I remember I did once though, in high school, had a bug and had to go. I was literally crying because I couldn't bear using the toilet. I begged the head of year to close the whole toilet for me so I can use it. Maad! |
Awwh, I miss you too but I see you have your hands full. |
JallowBah: Since many fulanis, most of them, are muslims, they use arabic words much. Very much, actually.Majority of Gambians are muslim but still have their names for marabout. Marabout is the english version. Ok, now you are just being ignorant. Do not put everything in one pot and call it juju. Tell me, which area is your husband from? What has feeding hyenas children got to do with the issue at hand? That's like me randomly saying it's being 30years since lynching blacks was the normal thing to do. I sense negative undertones in your post even though you say you 'love' the culture. If it's not hearsay, tell me, have you gone to a marabout yourself? What happened? Did he tell you he wanted the heart of a family member? Do your research and stop throwing everything else in with juju. |
The 'being in love' itself disappears after a while and what you are left with is the emotional attachment and comfort. People don't stay with eachother for so long because they are in love but because of comfort. I personally don't know how I can live with just man alone. Thinking that far makes me realise how scary it actually is. I find it quite boring especially when everyday is the same old routine. |
Pretty girl. |
Is it because of the weight? I noticed that fat people do tend to have big feet. |
JallowBah: I have seen people with pure scar-marking, and tats as well. All cultural beauty in my eyesWe are talking about young ladies tattooing the gums. It is more popular with young ladies who deem is beautiful and hence do it to look beautiful. I did not say it isn't practiced in Gambia but like you said it's rare for Gambians to practice such. (Btw, who told you about this pregnacy and killing-a life for a life? Never ever heard of it. When a woman is unable to bear a child they'll will go to a marabout and he or she will tell her to give out saara to people(alms) of certain things I.e. Take 2cups of sugar to a mosque and give a wrapper to an old woman, give her a script in animal skin to tie on her or she'll be given herbs to wash herself.) Marabouts usually read from cowries, tasabia(prayer beads) or quranic scripts. I've already told you the people who practice the act and where they are from. Usually when the people are kidnapped, they get transported to casamance. Ask your husband. ![]() Curung fyeler is mandinka. Marabout is the english version derived from arabic meaning religious leader/holy person not fulani. It's just the lingua franca. The fulani's may pronouce it as it would in arabic but I'm sure there's an indigenous name for it in fulani and not just marbut. You have to understand the different types of beliefs in Africa. Juju is different to what a maroubout does unless it's an actual juju priest who you could go to and ask to kill someone or make someone barren. Do not throw juju in with every belief that has to do with looking beyond this world. P.s, alkales are different to marabouts. An alkale does not have much wisdom in 'juju'. An alkale/alkalo(chief) is just the head of a village who resolve disputes, minds the village etc not why a woman cannot give birth. Being an alkale doesn't mean you know the ways of 'juju' A barren woman may go to the Imam for prayers. Do research on the meaning of marabout and the mouride so you can learn more about the tradition rather than listen hearsay. |
^i do not think it is barbaric if it is the person's choice to do it. @jallowbah, I don't know what marks you mean but I've never seen anyone with marks outside the tattooed area unless if that too was tattooed. If it's henna then that will stain but will come off after a while. It's not permanent. Regarding the body parts rituals, it is done by outsiders in Gambia. Usually nigerians, people from casamance and I think people from niger or something. I remembered as a kid being warned about the jalang fyelers around the harmattan season(I think). You wrote exactly what I wrote regarding the common practice of 'voodoo'(which is not the right name to call it because they do not practice the things associated with it). The cowrie throwers which are the most common form of spiritualism in Gambia are called curung fyelers which is different to the jalang fyelers(the juju people aka ritualists) |
Michaeljones36: You ever been in a nightclub, dancing with a girl, and then the lights turn on? ![]() ![]() That's why I do my makeup in bright light. ![]() |
Why? Are yóu going to by me shoes? ![]() You're a uk size 8? I'm euro 40 |
JallowBah: Many fulani in Gambia do this as well.It doesn't leave a dark mark around the mouth unless you tattoo the mouth also which many fulani and toucouleurs women do. It actually looks very nice when you see it in real life. When a woman with a tattooed gum smiles. @Majority of girls choose to do it because it makes ones smile nicer. The same way you have your tattoos(your choice) it's the same way they tattoo their gums. vanstanzy: That country senegal, have always being at the fore-front of African Voodoo. I won't be surprised if the black dye is actually a voodoo concoction aimed at trapping men when u rob it on and smile at them.Lol @pot calling kettle black. You sit on a Nigeria forum and say Senegal is the forefront of voodoo when every single thing with nigerians is juju this and juju that. Senegalese 'voodoo' is more to so with spirituality, fortune telling etc. Not the kind where you sell body parts to make money as you would see in Nigeria. |
Her face is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo strong and it the facial poses in every picture. When you have a strong face yóu shouldn't do strong facial faces. |
I'm on low cut too and I've heard that phrase a lot too, " a woman's beauty is in her hair" but some women can pull it off nicely. I think it's true though, a woman looks better with hair than she would with a low cut. |
In fact, I demand this thread to be deleted, it's filled with too many lies. I'm sure a man wrote it. |
This is bull. A man can be both nice, loving, respectful and caring but also able to set boundaries, know that he's a man and wears the trousers. This is an ideal man every woman wants. Not one who disrespects or allows people to walk all over him. |
All this African witchery business is probably the reason why doctors failed to diagnose her. "She's isn't making enough blood, let's just pump her with more maybe the witches will get full." Have you guys ever seen witches sef? |
Jelosi, jelosi, jelosi, jelosi She gon be looking all shexy and shite in her video. Hm hmmmm b |
BoboYekini: Another black woman that despises her own race/colour.Ohh shut up! With all the insults, disrespect, egos nigerian men display towards their females, I don't blame her. #erm we are not fighting bros, I just have to reply as if I never sabi you |
Amya: Why is Tiwa savage and Tonto Dikeh perpetually trending on the first page?We are trying to promote African celebs to the world. It's not just western celebs who should be on frontpage. |
Is that you in your picture? Facials do not lighten you, they brighten your face by removing old dead skin cells. |
The fashion section is becoming littered with spam-like threads and it makes the section look very cluttered. I need threads on sales or 'where can I buy' to be open in the fashion marketing section. Any such thread opened in the fashion section will either be deleted or moved from henceforth. Cheers. |
Ileke-IdI:Sorry, I went to bed. ![]() Does that have henna in it? You should have gotten one from dark and lovely. Is it semi-permanent? |
Cheers. ![]() By myself, when it comes to doing hair and stuff I do those myself. |
![]() I'm just going to make a wig cap next week and wear it until I've lost my winter fat. |
lmaoo ![]() ohh, post pictures mek I see after. I'm wanting to dye my hair blonde again but I'm not sure. Since I shaved my hair a couple of weeks back, I haven't really gone out with it because I think I've put on weight on my face and I don't like the look. Never go bald during the winter. ![]() |

But I do wish they would let the kids choose, instead of doing it on them when they are young..
