First choice: Digital skills i.e. Programming, Writing, Graphics and Design etc... Reason being, with them you can easily connect with foreigners that pay in foreign currencies.

Second choice: Catering, Hair dressing, cake making, barbing, fashion design etc.

My lady then came to the office to wait for me as we were travelling to Lagos. I've finished my balancing O. We were waiting for him but he was on phone toasting one mumu girl like that. I was already boiling as I couldn't drive at night at the time this guy was not listening. So I went to his office door. Hoping my presence would speed things up. Still on the call he came out just for no reason O that was when he sighted my now ex. Na there devil decide to use am. As he was returning still on the call he said in Yoruba, " until to ba to sunkun bi egbere Ni mo ma to he KO lo le" meaning until I weep like a small demon before he will allow me go home. I was like excuse me. Na there he face me tell me say I must be a bastard. Get out of my office you animal. He wanted to swell his ego so that my ex will know he is the boss. What he didn't know was that a swollen ego comes with a swollen face. And a few missing teeth. People outside said all they heard was GBA GBA GBA GBA and I calmly walked out and told my ex to follow me. When they saw him they started searching around the office maybe the others that beat him up was hiding somewhere. Trailer jam am that day. I've already sacked myself the next Monday for I didn't resume work. On Tuesday I was called to office. He made reports but the area manager didn't even bat an eye. He has been a thorn in everyone's flesh and in their eyes I did them a huge favour.

I swear. It's better he loses that one year now, endure the shame that will come with it. Study another course than to waste years being unemployed after graduation.

I would even suggest he studies easy courses like G & C, Integrated Science, Primary Education or Early Childhood where minimum preparation would guarantee a fair grade so he can have time to learn a skills than studying that useless course that is difficult for nothing.

Let me just be blunt here.

It's a fucking waste of time and resources, same as studying biochemistry.

Funnily enough, the course is so hard.

I can bet it with you that you'll end up doing something different from that course if you study it.

My advice is you start learning that thing you would do if Geology doesn't work out. Start now o.

Let me give you people advice. Don't go and kill yourself untop 30k.

Because some of you will start behaving like youth corpers when alert starts coming in.

The OP should use this advice o.

Start learning a skill now. Dedicate 2 hours per day for the course and use the rest to learn a skill. By the time you finish NYSC you would have gotten to intermediate level at least. Such skills can fetch you money or help propell your career.


You should worry more about life after school because it's inevitable and not easy.

Thermodynamics:
Graduating from a University or graduating with a 2.1 is not much of a big deal as you may think.
When you graduate you'll understand.
University is just a play, a mirage of what life is truly about.

When you graduate and get into the real world you'll hate yourself for crying over extra year or having C in a course instead of an A.

This might not make much sense to you at the moment because you are still in School. I use to think like you when I was an undergraduate.

I remember when I was feeling so bad because my HOD insulted me when I went to him to rewrite a test I missed. I thought it was my worst day ever, unfortunately for me, it was my worst day yet as at then.

I know how the OP feels even though I didn't have an extra year but in 5 years time, I won't matter to him or anybody anymore.

That film na cruise.

It's a movie made for the fun of it. I'm sure the actors and crew just wanted to do something for fun. It's a nice movie though.

Hi there! I agree with you that the role should never be reversed.
However, my parents NEVER coerced me to pay bills or do anything, it was out of my own volition, there was no pressure whatsoever from both parents. My parents are comfortable (with or without the children), I do these things just to add support and appreciate their efforts.

I never implied your parent made you do it out of compulsion.

I genuinely wanted to pay for her ride but she ended up paying for mine.

Why is no one talking about sex, Nairaland or Twitter.

If they are working, they should also not be obliged. They need all the money they can save to start their future asap. They shouldn’t be obliged.

However, I’ll advice kids to use their good mind and buy stuffs around the house from time to time. But it should never be made compulsory.

I don’t live in the same city with my parents because of work but whenever I am home, I do not pay kobo for anything. If I even want to pay, my father will tell me to save my money that I will need it later. So what I just do is when I go out with my parent, I pay for what they want to buy or when they send me message, I don’t ask them for the money. Kids should never be obliged to pay for anything around the house.

When next you see your dad, tell him an online fellow said he is the daddy of the year.

I'm a Student and I also work. I usually pay cable TV bills, some other bills for the general running of the house, and help my siblings out too. It helps in removing some kind of "burden" from Parents cos they're really trying.
When I started working, Omo! I knew that Parents have a lot of responsibilities, I even hailed my parents too.
Sometimes when I have enough money, I usually buy them gifts, or when I'm broke, I tell them to manage recharge cards.
Lol, I remember my Mum praying for me on phone cos of ordinary recharge card.

Children shouldn't be a burden to parents. Ever! This is exactly why family planning is being advocated.

I get your point tho. A working child should be able to contribute one or two things at home. But it shouldn't be compulsory.

The fundamental duties of any parent is to take care of the children needs. The role should never be reversed.

Well it's not that much honestly and to be truthful you don't even need everything there and you are sure of job. But I did mechanics of machines, thermodynamics, engineering mathematics one to four, control theory alongside a host of others with absolutely nothing to show for it
