Mhmmm, it all makes perfect sense. . . . A man who could not adequately lead his own family could not possibly lead a nation of people. A man that used to mercilessly beat his own wife was bound to treat his fellow citizens with similar disdain. A man that stole from his own son by sleeping with his daughter in-law, was always destined to rob his country blind. The man is a national disgrace. |
Was ObJ broke as a joke when he came out of prison? You bet. Is he now a multi-billionaire? Sure is. Did he spend eight whole years enriching himself and his cronies through privatization scams, and awarding oil blocks like Nigeria was having a liquidation sale? No doubt. Should such a fool even show his ugly mug in public, or insult the masses he so willfully impoverished, by turning around to give a lecture on corruption? Hell no! Should he be back in prison whence he came? Yes, lock him up and throw the keys away. |
All these disingenuously enraged "patriots" screaming tribalism, please be reminded that Rochas did not reward all the Igbo players on the team, he showed some love to the boys from Imo state in his capacity as the governor of the state. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. Actually, only the depressed and the cynic would find fault with such a well-disposed gesture. This is common practice not only in Nigeria, but the world over. After the last Olympics, Michael Phelps and 8 other athletes from Maryland were honored by the state government. Maybe their Igbotic governor in Maryland should have invited the entire U.S olympic contingent to be honored by the state of Maryland. In saner climes, people cheer such developments, but in the upended pattern of typical Nigerian reasoning, some people have mischievously introduced a negative spin to a good story. The only potential issue here is if the good people of Imo state approve of Rochas' use of state funds in such manner. To the extent of my knowledge, I haven't heard any complaints from them on this issue. |
Guy, somebody accuses you of stealing his music by not giving him credit for it, all you have to do is say whether you stole it or not, or apologize if you did. What is all the nonsense about slaving for ten years, and he should have told you in private?? Did you steal his song or not? None of this sentimental crap!!! |
I don laugh finish. So these yeye people went to punch a hole in the new roof just so they can say Oduah is not working! Nice try, but we all know how hellish our airports looked before Oduah started renovating them. Next time, some of you should jump out of a plane that's taking off and blame it on Oduah. We might believe you then. |

I read the whole thing, and checked up on some of the accompanying scriptures. I'm not one to judge, I'm merely a sinner, but I don't know how any so-called Christian could read this, and instead of searching one's soul to make sure that one is walking with God, you rise up in protest about your " precious soccer match, jewelries, hair extensions" and other nonsense. You complain that the writer focused too much on the outward, forgetting that it is what is on the inside that manifest on the outside. Sadly, most of you have confirmed what the author expressed about the sad state of many so-called Christians today. Ask yourself; can you give up watching soccer for God, can you abandon your silver and gold for God, can you give up worldly pleasures for God . . .if these things mean so much to you that you simply cannot set them aside for God, then the warning contained in this writing is firmly directed at you. Let's not deceive ourselves that we are saved, but when we are required to make sacrifices for God's sake, we resort to stretching, twisting and pinching-off the Gospel to suit our desires. Yes, no one is saved by works, neither is any one saved by empty declarations of being saved. God is not out to burden us, He's out to save us, and as we grow in Christ, we gradually come to the realization that things we thought meant so much to us on this earth are absolutely worthless in the grand scheme. At that point, you would gladly abandon your soccer match and jewelries if it so pleases God. I can already hear some saying "God is not concerned with such things". . .really? Make no mistake about it, God wants to be above every other thing in your life, and it's the indirect worship you give to those things, and not necessarily those things themselves, that drives a wedge between you and God. Jesus did tell the rich man to go and sell all he had and give the money to the poor, and this was to demonstrate that nothing in this world is too much to give up to gain salvation. Being wealthy is not a problem, loving that wealth so much that you would not give it up for God is the problem. Let's examine ourselves, some of these things have become idols for some of us, they have become the source of our happiness instead of our hope of salvation in Jesus Christ. I am merely one that is seeking salvation, it is not a competition, there's enough room in heaven for all, so I don't like bickering with fellow Christians, and all I pray for is that as many of us as possible make it to heaven. God bless you all. |
^^^^No problem bros. |
I would not want to call you crazy because it is dismissive and would suggest that I'm being insensitive to your predicament. But, I must reveal to you that this sort of paranoia, characterized by perceived persecution is typical of Schizophrenic disorders. The sad part is that the sufferer really believes all this is actually happening, even some of your loved ones, initially buy into all these tales. I am not saying that this is your plight, but just a possibility. I would like to know if there is anyone else out there, friends, family or associates, who can corroborate your theory of what is happening to you. Has anyone else around you confirmed any of these your fears, besides what you have told them? I would like to assure you that everyone around you is not out to get you, and if they all feel that your fears are unfounded, then it might be time to seek professional help. There is treatment available that can vastly improve your circumstance. I hope I have not offended you with my suggestion, I am simply trying to help. In the case that I am completely off base, why not take a break from the UK and go home to the family in Nigeria. . .school can wait while you sort yourself out. Ndu ka mkpa. . .you might even kill two birds with one stone and get married while in Nigeria . Good luck man, Chineke no na elu igwe na ele uwa! |
Col. Nyiam clearly stated in this interview that someone who was coerced into a coup plot is a participant in the plot, because the individual had the options of remaining loyal to the government or going along with the plot. Excerpt from the interview: "Could it be a defence in the military to say I wasn’t part of a coup, I was just brought in? It couldn’t be a defence because at the point you know that it is a coup, you should do everything possible to resist it." So, don't take this man's statements out of context. Buhari is a coup plotter proper.....he willfully participated in the ejection of a democratically elected government. If memory serves me right, I recall an interview in which Maj. Jokolo Rtd ( former Emir of Gwandu, ADC to Buhari, and an actor in the 1983 coup plot) suggested that there were three factions that were planning a coup about the same time, with the Buhari camp eventually joining forces with the IBB camp. I don't know the validity of his claims, but seriously, with the way the military was constituted at the point, nobody was really in a position to stop these guys. Similarly, when IBB toppled Buhari, both Buhari and Idiagbon were so isolated in the Army that anybody that mattered had already signed off on their removal, and their wasn't going to be much resistance either. Come to think of it, same can be said of the coups that removed Gowon, and that which brought Abacha into power. Also, the coup that toppled Gowon and ushered in Murtala Mohammed was not led by Murtala Mohammed(he probably led the counter-coup of 1966). Yar'Adua, Babangida, Joe Garba, Anthony Ochefu( and others) were the principal actors. Murtala knew of the coup but had no involvement. He is a part of the coup because he knew about it, did not resist it, and accepted to lead the resultant government. Actually, the plotters offered the Head of State job to others when they had disagreements with Murtala on how the government should be ran. By the way, our saint Buhari was also involved in this coup. . .but he is free to fool those that he can. |
In an interview published on Transformation Watch, an ex member of the Boko Haram sect, fingers former president of Nigeria, Ibrahim Babangida as a key sponsor of the organisation. Full Interview: Question: Who are you and where are you from? Answer: My name is Sheik Sani Haliru. I am from Niger Republic, but my mother is from Bornu State of Nigeria and I grew up in Wulari, Maiduguri, (Northern Nigeria) where I was trained. Q: Trained as what and under whose tutelage? A: I was trained as an Almajiri, after four years, at the age of 14, I was sent to Kano City, Kano State where I was trained in the Sheik Abubakar Gummi School of Arabic studies. Q: So you know Sheik Abubakar Gummi? A: Yes, and I also know his children and obeyed all the teachings he laid down before he died. Q: So who tutored you and who is your mentor? A: Sheik Abubakar Gummi tutored me. My mentor was Osama bin Laden, and until my conversion from Islam to the Christian faith, my dreams and aspirations in life was to do more than Osama bin Laden did before he died on Sunday, May 1, 2011. Q: You said that your mentor was Osama bin Laden. Is he still your mentor? A: I am now a changed person. The Sheik Sani Haliru is now a new creature, old things have passed away because I now have Jesus Christ that I hated and persecuted for 44 years. Q: Tell me about your past and how many countries of the World you have been to? A: I cannot tell all about my past because it will take several days to tell my story and about my conversion experience to Christianity. I have been to eight countries. Q: Can you please name them? A: I have been to Sudan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Libya, Somalia, Egypt and of course to my own country Niger Republic. Q: Where did you receive your training and as what? A: I received my training in Libya and Pakistan as an Attack Strategist. I was trained along side with some highly placed Nigerians and other foreign Nationals who were marked (he showed me the proof of his mark with a sign) in the form of a sword in the hand to fight and kill for Allah. Q: Can you give me some of the names of your colleagues with whom you received training in Libya and Pakistan? A: They are scattered all over the country and we were not too many then. Q: Just mention but a few names. A: Ali Baba Nur, Asari Dokubo, Jasper Akinbo, Mohammed Yusuf, Salisu Maigari, Danlami Abubakar, Cletus Okar, Ali Qaqa, Maigari Haliru and Asabe Dantala to mention but a few. Q: Which of the Asaris do you mean? A: The Niger Delta war king. He was a year ahead of me in Benghazi training camp in Libya. Q: Who financed your training in Libya and Pakistan? A: You will not believe me and only God will judge the Chief sponsor of terrorism in Nigeria whose name I will not mention because he is so powerful and even the president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, is so much afraid of the man. Q: If you really know the Christ in you, why are you afraid to tell me the name of the man who sponsored you and the date or approximate period he sponsored you. A: I am not afraid because he knows me and he cannot deny it if he sees me face to face. Q: Then tell me, who is this powerful man? A: The man is no other person than the man they call IBB now as I am talking to you, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida has more than 600 men and women Jihadists who are under his pay role. They are scattered all over the Country and he (IBB) can use them to destroy Nigeria. Q: Did you say six hundred? A: Yes 600 + IBB's agents of destruction are in the Nigeria Army (NA), Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Navy, Air Force, Oil and Gas sectors, even in the finance home such as in top level positions of CBN (Central Bank of Nigeria) and other banks. You find them in politics, in the Senate, National Assembly, in the media both print and electronic and even in Aso Rock, Abuja (Nigerias' capital). Q: How do you mean by this statement and even in the finance? A: Yes, I mean every word I say; even the Islamic bank champion was planted by IBB to help in Islamizing Nigeria. Q: So how can you describe IBB? A: IBB is a green snake in green grass. He is the main problem of Nigeria along with members of the Cabal. Q: Have you forwarded any of these evidence(s) to Aso Rock or to SSS (State Security Services)? A: I attempted to do so a few weeks ago and I was arrested and detained for two days because IBB’S men are so many in SSS (State Security Services) as well. After I was released by the grace of God, they (the Police) warned me never to blow up the polity or provoke violence and I should keep my so-called-born-again with me or else I will go to jail. Q: So you were a key member and a registered jihadist hardliner. A: Yes, I was. Q: Under what group? A: I was a Boko Haramist. But Boko Haram is just a cover name to give it a name. I have my identity as a founding member of the dreaded jamaâaful Ahlul sunna wal Liddawati wal Jihad, aka Boko Haram. Q: Apart from IBB, who are the other top sponsors of terrorism in this country? A: They are many, but IBB is the major financier. He introduced the suicide bombing that started when he killed Dele Giwa. I have the names of six traditional rulers and seven present & ex-Governors as well as several top military and security officers who are co-sponsoring the so called Boko Haram. That apart, I have documented evidences to prove that General Mohammadu Buhari, Alhaji Abubaka Atiku and other top politicians and traditional rulers are some of the people behind Boko Haram. Very soon, nemesis will catch up with them. Q: What if I use my influence to guarantee you safety, can you brief the press to expose IBB (General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida) with all these documents that I am seeing with you right now. A: Only God can guarantee my safety. He did so on that fateful day when the SSS and police wanted to secretly kill me because of what I unveiled. I would have been a dead man by now if not for a man of God who came as an Angel to quietly free me. Right now, I am wanted dead or alive by IBB and his agents of destruction in high places. The SSS are busy hunting for me up & down and arresting and torturing innocent people because of me. Q: What if I connect you to a man of God by the name of Brother Mike Ejiofor, who is a lawyer, a professional negotiator and a mediator who was the Director of SSS until October 2010? A: I only wish to be connected to God. Q: So how can you describe this country? A: Nigeria is sifting under an Islamic barbaric bomb (IBB). Only God can rescue this nation because 75% of Christians are prayer less. Why? Because they are in their own comfort zone. They do not know what the Christians in Northern Nigeria are passing through and they ignorantly are thinking that the Allah of the Muslims is the same as the God of Christians in the Holy Bible who says: Thou shalt not kill. Q: What does the Quran say about Islam being referred to as a religion of peace by numerous Muslim scholars? A: Let me tell you in a very clear language that Islam is not a religion of peace, but it is of violence, of killers and fighters as already stated in their so called Holy Quran which I ignorantly followed all these years when I was spiritually blinded as a Muslim. Q: Can you prove these statements from the Quran? A: [Sani Haliru, who is now known as Solomon Haliru (Paul Halirus brother)] brought out two copies of the original Quran in the Arabic & English translation. He gave me one, and told me to open the book to Surah Al- baqarah chapter 2 vs 216. It says, Holy fighting is ordained (prescribed) for all muslims, whether they like it or not, as far as it is good and approved by Allah through his prophet Mohammed. Q: Where is it in the Quran that killing is also permitted by Allah? A: Look at Surah Al-baqarah chapter 2 vs 191 And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out. An Al-Fitnah is worse than killing. And fight not with them at Al-Masjid-Al-Haram (the sanctuary at Makkah), unless they (first) fight you there. But if they attack you, then kill them. Such is the recompense of the disbelievers. Muslims are told to kill and fight in the cause of Allah. Q: Does it mean that IBB and all these Muslim traditional rulers and Governors that are sponsoring Boko Haram to kill Christians and burn our churches in the North are not aware of the passage in the Quran that says there must not be compulsion in Islam as Mohammadu Buhari asserted in a widely publicized interview on Saturday, the 21st of April, 2011? A: I have worked so closely with Mohammadu Buahri for five years, and I can prove it that General Buhari is the most notable outspoken jihadist hardliner in Nigeria who is also strategically sponsoring Boko Haram. Q: General Buhari told a group of pressmen in April 2011 that there is no compulsion in Islam and it is a religion of peace. He quoted Surah Al-Baqarah Chapter 2:225. What can you say to that? A: What I can say to that is General Buhari, like all other true Muslims, is a hypocrite who is shying away from the fact. Q: How do you mean by saying that most Muslim millionaires and highly placed Muslims are pretenders and shying away from the fact? A: What I mean is that they (Muslims-both rich and poor) are told to use their position of wealth (or otherwise) to promote Islam or else they will face destruction from Allah. Q: Where can you find this in the Quâran? A: Open Surah Al-Baqarah Chapter 2:195, it is written here that you must use your wealth to champion Jihad of all kinds or else destruction is waiting for such a person on the last day. And spend in the Cause of Allah (i.e. Jihad of all kinds) and do not throw yourselves into destruction (by not spending your wealth in the Cause of Allah), and do good. Truly, Allah loves Al-Muhsinun (the good-doers). Q: Have you ever been detained or arrested? A: Nobody could arrest me until the year 2009 soon after my immediate boss Mohammed Yusuf was killed. About 23 of us were arrested in one of our hideouts in Bauchi. But when Governor Isa Yagiuda heard about it, he immediately arranged for me to be free. Even before his official broadcast in 2010 that he was using his position as the executive Governor of Bauchi State (Northern Nigeria) to free 28 prisoners from Bauchi Central Prison, I was already a free man along with several of my colleagues. Q: Now can you tell me some of the horrible crimes that you committed and how you got born again and became converted. A: Old things have passed away and I dont want to talk about the past, because like Apostle Paul said, we need to press forward in Christ Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. Q: Just mention a few to assist some of us who are making efforts to unravel the mystery of the menace called Boko Haram which you have renounced. A: I took part in the Kaduna riot of 1992 and in several northern states of Nigeria, but the state I operated more from was Bornu (northern Nigeria) where I was the State Commander/Chief Strategist. Q: So as Chief Attack Strategist, what crimes have or did you commit before you renounced the deadly sect? A: In the early months of May 1986, I was among the 36 Jihadist hardliners, who went on a rampage to attack Christian students of the University of Sokoto (Sokoto State in northern Nigeria). In that same week, the Federal Government of Nigeria under the brutal leadership of IBB mobilized us and provided some military vans and Army uniforms which our men used and started killing innocent and defenseless Christians all over the Northern states. I and the son of the Emir of Kano, who is now a Christian by name Rev. Paul Ado Bayero, were among the Muslim fanatics who razed down the sculpture of Jesus at the University of Ibadan (Oyo State in western Nigeria). The following year, March 5, 1987 to be very precise, the Evil Genius General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida secretly armed us through one of his close aids by the name of Captain Hassan Abubakar (now a Pastor with a fast growing church in Lagos). We went to go and kill some targeted Christians including Rev. Nuhu Kure (Throne room founder) after the destruction we committed at the College of Education in Kafanchan, Kaduna State (North Central Nigeria). And of recent, I was the leader of the team of soldiers of Allah that destroyed Church buildings and properties in Bornu State (northern Nigeria). Q: Can you name some of the buildings and Churches you and your Boko Haramists destroyed? A: There are many, but our main targets which we succeeded in destroying included: Goodnews & ECWA Church, Damboa Road, Maiduguri E.Y.N.L.C.C. Wulari, National Evangelical Mission Inc. Divisional Headquarters Wulari, Elijah Apostolic Christ Church, Oke Ayo Celestial Church of Christ, Deeper Life Bible Church, the Lord's Chosen and six others in Railway Area and all over Wulari in Maiduguri, Borno State. Other church buildings we destroyed and looted include the Aposotic Church, COCIN Church, Evangelical Church/Mission Headquarters, Anglican Church, Baptist Church/Mission, Redeemed Christian Church of God, El-Shaddai Parish, Watchman Charismatic and several others. Q: Where were the security officers when you were destroying all these church buildings and killing Christians? A: Since 1985 when General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB) started using us to persecute Christians, the Nigerian Army has been an extension or shall I say an arm of the Muslims agenda to Islamize Nigeria. -In addition to aforementioned Chris Anyanwu, Mrs. Okadigbo, and Joy Emordi as recent Igbo female Senators, I'd also like to mention Nkechi Nwaogu who is currently serving and has been a senator since 2003, representing Abia central. - I don't think this post is an affront to other ethnic groups, hence the OP had the decency to present the title as a question and invite others for debate. |
This website has done anything but unite Nigerians. As far as I am concerned, the ownership and administrators of this site have attained expertise in the art of setting the table and pitching Nigerians against each other, by promoting inflammatory topics that are certain to tug at ethnic sentiments. Consequently, what should have been the epicenter of the Nigerian socio-economic and political blogosphere, like the country it represents, has diminished beyond recognition. The palpable exodus of most well-meaning and intellectual contributors to this site is a testament to its repugnant state. One looks back with keen fondness and nostalgia to the days when logging onto nairaland brought you in contact with a myriad of other brilliant Nigerian minds. Elaborate and educative discussions on culture, history, academia, politics, sports, real estate, business etc, were the norm. Then, any inquisitive mind that ventured into nairaland absolutely found it to be an edifying experience. Nigerians, myself included, are fond of blaming all our woes on poor leadership. Indeed, we are burdened by poor leadership, but even worse are the citizenry. A people enchanted by corruption, a distaste for fair play, ethnic discrimination and all sorts of moral decadence cannot produce leaders that are dissimilar. Even in the absence of our incompetent government and leadership, we have sufficiently failed on our own, as a community of Nigerian citizens online, to mutually coexist with respect and admiration for each other, to represent our country in a positive light, and to focus our energy on addressing the real issues that hobble our sickly nation. A philosopher once posited that every country has the government it deserves, a statement Nigerians have proven right over and over again, as we blatantly disregard the many ailments of our nation, while preferring to engage in bigotry. In many ways, the discouraging drift of nairaland mirrors the disconcerting bearing of the Nigerian state, with the common denominator being the 'good' people of Nigeria. |
The Executive Director of Egalitarian Mission for Africa, Mr. Kayode Ajulo, has frowned at the deportation of some easterners by the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, under the guise of rehabilitation or reunion. A statement issued saturday by the politician and human rights activist said the action of the Lagos State government has no basis in the nation’s law. “As a matter of fact, it was an action begat in illegality and birthed in unconstitutionality. Every Nigerian has a right to reside in any part of Nigeria without any molestation or harassment whatsoever and regardless of the name of the such infringement is described, “ he said. Ajulo described the defence of rehabilitation cum reunion offered by officials of Lagos State as “hollow, jejune, and a gratuitous insult on our collective psyche.” He said “It is a molestation and or a violation of the right of the victims who never complained of missing home, or sought any reunion with their kinsmen back home. It is an incontrovertible fact that most of these men and women visit home at Christmas and new year. “Pray tell me, which of Fashola’s sycophantic minions led him into this ignoble and inexcusable infamy or in the word of Patrick Obayagbon odourferious saga of gagatuangaga; “I am certain he would by now have spent much more to clear the messy fallout of his precipitous action than he would have spent to “rehabilitate” these poor victims of executive intemperance and high handedness.” The former senatorial candidate of Labour Party in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) however appealed to people across the country not to see it from the ethnic angle, saying Fashola was not acting for the Yoruba. “Let it be known that Fashola’s influence in Yorubaland does not extend beyond his Lagos State. It is also in the same vein I urge all commentators in this and other media to exercise restrain in their comment and not unduly heat up the polity, “ he added. |

GoodSamaritan: OBJ is a unique leader with a difference. A class on its own. None of the Nigerian past & present leaders can do what he did. Or can you ever imagine IBB or Buhari or GEJ do what he just did there at Ikenne? No way! They'll rather see it as demotion. But for OBJ, he won't see such as a big deal.IBB has more charisma in his left pinky(little finger) than OBJ could ever dream of having. The rogue OBJ would never be in any class with the likes of the venerable Abe Lincoln, I don't know which Africa you live in. |

A great son of Africa he was. Perpetually stood by the truth, irrespective of what tribal revisionist might think. |
One thing I agree with him is that Boko Haram can only be defeated by genuine cooperation of the civilian population. The intelligence needed to uproot this insurgency can only be obtained from the people these Boko Haram agents reside with. These are not ghosts, people know when they observe suspicious individuals and activities in their locality. They must have bases and hideouts in the area from where they coordinate their attacks. Civilians have to take a proactive role in identifying and reporting these things to the JTF. I can't say with any certainty how the average northern Muslim feels about Boko Haram, but the day they collectively decide to end this menace, that would be the day it ends. |
Nice one Unizik, no be by mouth. . .more palm oil to your elbows! |
Very well said. Indeed, when greatness manifests itself in an individual, it leaves a lasting impression on all who behold it. Achebe lives on, he'll remain an inspiration to many generations to come. Many years ago, I first met Chinua Achebe on the pages of Things Fall Apart, and by the end of that exhilarating journey into pre-colonial Africa, Achebe had left a piece of his soul within me, and awakened a consciousness of how important it is to tell one's story, especially for the African. In me, like millions of others, Chinua Achebe lives on. |
Thank goodness the Army officer in the first picture no fall my hands!!! It's one thing to find individuals taking a quick nap at their duty posts,no telling how long they've been at the post. But, to see senior officers sleeping with their mouths open at what seems to be an important public function. . .haba, this is very unbecoming, stand up if you must. |
