What's exactly is the child's diagnosis. It matters when searching for a school. There is a school for children with special needs in delta State. It is run by foreign women married to Nigerian men. I believe it is in Warri
pls do you know the name & possible contact for the school? i could look it up online if you can tell me pls. like i said, she has developmental issues she is dumb and unable to use her limbs |
thank you all so much. but please keep them coming as i would really prefer the school situated around the Middle belt region |
Good day house. please can anyone recommend a special needs school in Nigeria. My niece is a special needs child with developmental problems. Although i haven't seen her (i don't reside in 9ja), i have been told she is dumb and crippled. Her mother took her younger sister away and abandoned this girl outside my mom's house. Unfortunately, my mother though still employed cannot give this girl the care she needs because my mum also has her own health issues. So if anyone can recommend a special needs school Boarding/day that we can enroll this girl in i would really appreciate it. A school that isn't too expensive as i would be the one footing this girl's needs and it is VERY rich through Christ. However if its only expensive schools you know, please drop the names and possible contact details so that i can have an idea of what i would be dealing with. She's 7 years old, and whilst i welcome schools across 9ja, i would prefer schools within the middle belt axis because that's where my family are based. thank you. I would appreciate if the MOD's can put this front page just so i can get responses please. |

Yes @ CC - na england we dey oo. We are both non citizens so get no benefits either |
@ Poster - i cant try for another child i would be VERY foolish to do that. i wear the shoes and i know where it hurts the most. I made the decision after discovering he had been sending half hearted job applications cos i was wondering why he gets only 1 interview per year. (living abroad is expensive) i cant save enough, i have no savings. Most of the savings ends up going to the UKBA when extending our visas every couple of years and the rest goes into hubby's new business ventures/ideas. Imagine i got married to him yet i had to work and pay my tuition through university because he wont pay my fees (he was on scholarship for his own studies). This is a man that from my little salary, i pay my tithe and still put him on 10% allowances of my income monthly o. So far, the no shags rule seems to have really hit him hard becos initially he thought i would budge and seeing that 6 months after, no show, he is becoming more frustrated but also serious about his job applications. Infact, i sent him a link for a job today and he replied saying he would apply for it on saturday as he has penciled 6 applications he needs to send before close of day today and as he has to amend his CV to fit those applications, he might not get to the link i sent him till tomorrow. they say marriage is for better or worse - but i have told him its cant be so if the "worse" is self inflicted and there arent any steps been taken to remedy the worse |
hmmm, poster i empathize with you. I am in exactly the same boat as you except i have been married 9yrs plus now (hubby been jobless 7yrs plus) and you have family members that at least you can run to for large sums of money i don't. My child is already 7yrs i cant have another child because we cant afford to. Not that i am comparing my marriage with others but people who married after we did already have 3 kids (we had planned on 3 kids before). It is well with you and God will guide you aright. After several promises, sweet and hard talks, deadlines, In march this year, i stopped sleeping with hubby and hell let loose. After the storm, he has gotten used to the fact that i am not bulging. I still send him job application emails, still cook and clean and do everything else except shags!! He accused me of belittling him, not having faith/confidence in him, not been a supportive wife, bla bla bla (btw this is someone who alongside his family supported his sister to dump her hubby of 3 yrs after the guy lost his job for 10 months oo) i just developed thick skin and focused on my job & child and maintaining peace in my home bar the koko . Fast forward to the autumn, I gave him till next year march to start earning an income either via business/employment, he huffed and puffed again and has made promises to deal with me once he starts working. I ignored and didn’t even argue with him. I have carried on everything as per usual and the peace of mind I have in me now is just great. He has realised that I have changed and I don’t seem bothered anymore nor do I seem interested in fighting so he’s now buckled up becos the deadline is fast approaching and he isn’t getting shagged which perhaps seems to be the motiviating factor (who knows). With time we’ll see if I made the right choice so I wish you well and I pray God through his mercies answers us all. |
@Ajibam. Thank u and amen |
Thank you for your input and opinion. God bless u |

@ OP - i studied in scotland as well and as a self sponsored student. Thank God today i am through (though i still owe about £1k) to the school. I had similar experience with my school due to lack of tuition and my account was blocked as well. my advise to you is this, seeing as you are almost through with your schooling (you mentioned you are already at the dissertation phase), contact your course tutor and explain your circumstances he would be able to render some valid advise . b: Contact the finance dept and set up a payment plan. c: failing that (this was the route i took ohhh), look online for all the top executives in your school, from the Finance manager to the Chancellor, get their emails which is usually name.surname at rgu dot ac dot uk. explain your struggles as a student especially in this economic climate, give details of how you have been able pay your tuition so far and now you are writing your thesis and the stress and lack of understanding/help the school is showing is affecting your mental well being bla bla bla and i bet you, they would respond to you. PS - also pray and dont stop writing your thesis. My account was blocked, i couldnt submit my chapters for approval to my tutor and i basically emailed her to let her know i had "technical problems" with my blackboard and so would be emailing her via my private email which she was okay with. The school finance director asked the finance office to contact me and ask me how much i could pay and over how many months i wanted to, and my access was restored the only thing was i didnt partake with the graduands at the end as i hadnt finished paying my tuition but my certificate was posted to me. So cheer up, be proactive, keep writing and most importantly be prayerful. There is life after school and dont miss it becos some jobsworth clerk wrote you a threatening letter. It is well with you |

Thanks for your input. I dont remember my stb account and it was opened in my maiden name. I dont even have my passbook/withdrawal booklet anymore so i am unsure if they will believe me but i have some documents with my maiden name though |
360command: If u r not residing in nigeria, what do you need it for? When I first read your topic, it sounded as if you are non citizen of nigeria but I guess u r nigerian.I am a nigerian citizen however i have been resident abroad for a while. I do need the account as i intend to use it as a savings pot for when i eventually relocate to nigeria. its just frustrating that the banking system is designed to be difficult for account opening. |
LOUDmedia: Have you tried GTB? With their new GT Social platform, I learnt one can create an account via Facebook or Twitter. You may have to verify this though.Yes i did and apparently its only available to nigerian residents. I even tried filling the account form via the FB platform and in the end, you are still required to take identification documents to your local branch before the account would be activated for use |
Good morning House. I would like to open a bank account in 9ja and having tried all the banks (well, most of the well known banks), it appears i cant. I have been told i have to be in nigeria to be able to open a bank account. Is this true? Can any of our banker subscribers/users shed some light on this. I have been a non resident for about 9years. i used to have an account with STB but they have since been swallowed up by UBA. |

Ujujoan - i dont know if u r married or not and it really doesnt matter to me regardless as i am of d school of thought that u dont hv 2 be a mother 2 be able 2 bring up a child. That said, when i poured my heart out on this forum last yr, i was truly at my wit ends and really was seeking advise and opinions fron people who hv been thru similar issues like me. I was afraid of d unknown, of what happens next.... I still am. However the consensus fron both the pro and anti sides were that i should give a trial separation which 2 me implies "stay married a little longer" or gv more time. Which is what i hv done. I am not one of those women that must hv a husband nor afraid of a divorce. I like 2 do whats right not just by me but by d people around ne. Dts how i was brought up n despite difficulty n hardship v faced in marriage, i hv d dilemna of my child's future in my hands. I guess i just want 2 know dt i have tried everything i could b4 walking away. |
@Cnn - i reported the issue 2 his parents but his mother said i shld endure whilst his father said he shld rtn 2 9ja b4 "a woman starts 2 control him because shes d breadwinner". Forgettin dt their son refuses 2 get A job (not a profeSSIONAL job, just any job 2 help out wit d bills). Lest i forget, my SIL who was married 3 yrs, her hubby lost his job and within 10 mths, my inlaws went n took their daughter n her 2 kids back dt their daughter cannot suffer wit a man who cant look after his family yet wants 2 enjoy d comforts of marriage. My immediate familybr aware n numerous times hv helped us financially wen i call but how long'll dt carry on 4? |
Honestly we spoke about divorce and his exacts words were i either allow him take our son with him or i keep our son and he'll have no contact with the boy. Clearly i would b stupid 2 allow him go with the biy because he had no means of taking care if himself how much more a child. Except he dumps d boy on his parents which i diapprove as i am capable of fending for our son. And if i choose 2 keep iur son, he has said he has no desire 2 visit or see the boy in d event of a separation or divorce. I know my son will struggle with that because this is a child that regards his dad as hes best frnd. He spends alot of his time with his dad as i work. Besides i am a firm believer that every child, particularly male children need a father in their life, deadbeat or not. |
I just want to say thank you all to every1 who contributed to my solicited advice. God bless you all. I pray you dont find yourselves in the situation i am in. In september, i turned 8 yrs in marriage. Still married to a jobless man. Attended a few interviews for better payin jobs only for my hubby to tell me i cant move town for xyz reasons. My FIL has told my hubby to rtn 2 nigeria because he doesnt want his son controlled by a woman. And to those who think i married my hubby for papers, i did not. He is not a citizen. We r not citizens. Heck we got married in 9ja. I was 18 going on 19 wen i married. I would like to hv a 2nd child but i cant because falling pregnant at this time is just irresponsible of me. Alot has happened over the past yr and it just hurts me so baf. I was a good girl, i had 2 bf's b4 marriage. Very intelligent n sociable n brought up with good morals. I spent 3 yrs in uni b4 i got married and i Got married a virgin. I had rich men wanting to date/marry me but i ignored wealth n choose potential n love. Right now i feel alot of hurt, regret, disappointment. I just pray God helps me. |

Waoh, over night I've had a lot more constructive advise and opinions to which m grateful. I'd like 2 address some questions raised, first, I didn't comE 2 UK as a sch cert holder, I already had a Uni Diploma from Nigeria. 2nd, I have sweated 2 keep my family together for 7yrs of which my hubby hasn't contributed. He worked collectively not up2 9months and @ d time, every of his salary was spent either on himself/his family back home. Wen I needed help with my tuition (btw m still paying off my uni fees) he said he had nothing to give me: wen his siblings in nigeria got admitted 2 Uni, he made few calls, borrowed money aNd gave them 2 pay their fees. I paid for childrcare every month uptil my child started Nursery. And even now, he drops our kid in sch in d mornins and I pick the kid after sch hrs b4 coming home. We got married in Nigeria and he resigned his job b4 coming to the UK. So we both came 2 d UK jobless. And once again thank u for been constructive. |
I am certain I aint ur wife of 8yrs and mother of 3kids. I'd never have bn able 2 train myself thru sch that way. @ aloyemeka- I believe its d moderators that put this thread on frontpage and gave it a Tabloid grabing headline not me. And for the upteenth time I never dated the FB guy in question + I didn't even reply his msg wen he sent it. I have no desire for comfort, when I said I feel soo cold I meant expressionless and indifferent. I meant emotionallly m exhausted and cannot fight 2 defend myself. I meant d only strenGth I have left is 2 be channeled 2wds my child |
@Russialane - that i married @ 18 and spent 7 years of it raising a family whilst training myself through school in a foreign land away from my parents, siblings and without support should make you realise i aint no kid. I might be young in age, physically fragile but certainly mentally matured and emotionally strong which i've developed through years of doing things by myself and relying on just me and my GOD. |
i am been very practical and realistic. I have hung on and feel as though i have proved myself more than enough. I have no interest or desire for another man outside but at the same time i am tired of toiling and working hard to support a man who is very unappreciative of my efforts. i am not angry or disappointed at him or myself, rather i feel soooooo cold emotionally and the only energy i have is towards my child. I very much want the dad to be a part of the child's life as i am a strong believer that regardless of what happens between a couple, the children are entitled to the love of both parents. @Russia lane - I will remarry, not soon as thats not a priority or even on my agenda but eventually i will marry, i can bet you on that. M not a manhater so i will marry but i'd be wiser. M not even 26years of age yet so i see no reason why i should remain single for the rest of my life. My husband will surely remarry so why shouldnt i? |
we are from different tribes. My only concern is my child. How he'll cope without both parents attention and love like he's been used to. He's family in Nigeria have been aware that he isnt employed as they've visited us for extended periods of time and saw the "home" as it were. My MIL says i should stay put in my home and do whatever my husband asks of me. I have no intention or desire of badmouthing him however i feel like i've given this marriage my best shot, i've given it my all and i dont have anything left to give. For those of you who keep bringing up the facebook friend thing, let me make it clear that i knew that guy before i met my hubby, he asked me out several times before i met my hubby, if i wanted to date this "guy" wont i have done it then? The fact that i said no to him at the time when i had no obligations should make you realise that i'm not stupid to leave my marriage because of another man (frankly, someone i havent seen in 8yrs or had a meaningful conversation with i'd term as a stranger). I am just tired of the verbal and emotional abuse and threat i get from my husband who feels that insecure and believes its my responsibility to earn his trust and i've made it clear to him that if after 7years of marriage he cannot trust me, then we shouldnt be married. Besides i am a firm believer that you should never date or marry someone you dont trust to avoid heartbreaks/tumoils |
let me make something clear. I am not divorcing him because of an ex. The person who sent me the mail was never a BF to start with. He was someone who was interested in me as a single lady and i made my husband aware at the time. Again, the msg in which the "hey love" reference was made was sent in April to which i did not reply. The divorce option for me is mainly because i believe i have tried my best as a supportive wife, taking care of my home and my man for 7years whilst not getting any support from him rather i'm rewarded with accusations. I have sent several job applications to my husband that i feel would fit his "profile" and admittedly some that i feel would help ease the financial burden and stress on me however majority of them he has turned down giving one excuse or the other, whilst the ones he has successfully applied for, he hasnt been successful in the recruitment process. |
He choose not to work because he feels some jobs r below him. He hasn't got any health or Visa problems dt'll affect his ability to hold a job |
Yes I do have relatives but they all in Nigeria. M not really a social person so don't have friends in England either. |
