Zane2point4:My brother. I'll rather do the right thing and be truthful than lying to get a temporary visa. It is better they deny her and she takes them to judicial review and win than to lie and get the visa. Note that the repercussion of a fraudulent act does not manifest immediately. About 600 Indian students were deported months ago after years in Canada because of fake documents. They were trying to get a post graduate work permit when the fraud was detected, they are in India now. No Canada, US,UK and Australia for them first the next 10 years. Study visa is a temporary visa and the background checks isn't as rigorous as when you are applying for PR and citizenship . At that time, all the misrepresentation and lies will be detected. Why risk it? |
Zane2point4:Whaattt!!! Not stating you have a sibling in Canada when you have one is misrepresentation. If they find out, it is a ban not even refusal |
Enculer2:Big Data- Apache Hadoop, Spark and MongoDB |
AirBay:Unfortunately it's becoming annoying. Almost everyone in IT with little experience these days is looking for who to teach and make money of them. Giving people false hope of getting jobs after parting with their hard earned money. Someone I know in the field contacted me early this year asking if I could join hands and set up this tutor business, I declined. My conscience will not allow me, it is a rip off. |
StJohnKml:How long did it take to get it? |
Ayobamiaz:I thought you can only apply for gcms notes directly if you are a citizen, PR or inside Canada else you have to apply through a third party that would then get it on your behalf. Are you saying it is possible to apply for CBSA for free from Nigeria? |
Dessymond394:My brother from what you wrote, it seems you did everything right, I don't see any gaps here. I will say reapply and explain again through an LOE. If they deny based on this reason again, go for Judicial review. Lawyers will like this case cos it looks straightforward. |
Dessymond394:Did you provide your brother's birth certificate showing you have the same parents? By the way, how long did it take to get this GCMS note? |
Slimboss042:Congrats. Please can you say why you were refused initially and how you solved the issue so others can continue to enrich their knowledge on the happenings in the visa process. Thanks |
akinloluazeez:How long did it take to get the GCMS notes from the day you applied? I think the VO is concerned about the source of fund as there is a mismatch between your earnings and your account. You may need a detailed explanation to overcome his concerns |
Bobomaigida:Thank you very much |
Bobomaigida:Thanks for your input. Unfortunately reconsideration requests are given to the same officer that made the initial decision for another look and due to pride and not wanting to own up to mistakes, the maintain their initial decision. He tried that after first refusal. I think this will end up in judicial review. Do you have an idea of how that process goes or have you seen anyone use that option and succeed? |
Hello Everyone, Please has anyone gotten study permit with a one year Masters program? It looks to me like more people are getting visas with a college program than Master's degree.. My cousin who intend to do a one year Masters program in University of Waterloo got rejected for the 2nd time. School fees for the entire program (45,000 cad) has been fully paid, he submitted his savings and investment accounts which has more than enough for his living expenses for more than 1 year, apart from that he added his brother's account who is his sponsor. So in terms of finance, he submitted his sponsor and his own personal savings and investment accounts which has more than enough money, no lump sum in any of the accounts. Now, all his siblings are in Canada as citizens and PR, he is the only one remaining in Nigeria apart from the parents. The reasons for his refusal are: 1. Insufficient financial and assets which is surprising as school fees is fully paid and living expenses shown is more than enough. No lump sum 2. Not having substantial family ties outside Canada. Yes all siblings are in Canada but should he be punished for that? Besides, parents are still in Nigeria 3. The purpose of your visit to Canada is not consistent with temporary stay. I don't understand given that his program aligns with his education and work experience for his career growth. Note he is newly married and spouse is not going with him which I think was a good home ties yet ...... According to GCMS, the first refusal was Insufficient financial situation and didn't establish relationship with sponsor who is his blood brother despite paid school fees and enough available funds for living expenses. This was addressed again in the 2nd application. I'm beginning to doubt if this VOs actually go through these applications. I'm so much interested in his case cos my own last born is the only one remaining in Nigeria and I want to sponsor him next year so I'm following closely the success of my cousins application. I'm beginning to wonder if there are hidden reasons for refusal other than what they officially state cos some refusals don't make logical sense. Please how do we proceed from here? Should he change from Masters to 2 year college program? |
Lisa290:Moving to China to live permanently and raise a family? Apart from buying and selling, import and export, China offers nothing to an average Nigerian. The rich Chinese themselves are all over the western world, e get why. I tell people, if you must leave Nigeria, go to a place that is worth it and have a second home away from home not a place where you can't even do Facebook like China. I like my freedom more than any other thing abeg. |
Spiff20:Wao! I'm seeing envy in your post. The question should be directed to you. This is travel section. It is mainly for those who reside abroad to share their tips and experience and those in Nigeria who intend to travel to get some valuable information. People in Nigeria who don't like abroad or don't have any intention to travel shouldn't be on this travel section. When I was in that category, I didn't come into Travel section, it was a waste of time to me,I only started checking the travel section when I became interested to travel. So why are millionaires like you who are comfortable in Nigeria and are not interested in traveling abroad doing in the travel section? Why should you guys bother about people packing shit abroad and be arguing about life abroad like it is your business? Please answer |
The major reason is that most people in that category start thinking and preparing about where they would be buried in the event of death. Most Nigerians especially the more traditionally inclined ones don't want to die abroad. So if after 40 to 50 years of residing abroad for example, you have enjoyed the system, the uninterrupted electricity, the good roads, the health care etc. Your children are well settled and now you are above 70 years and retired, the question is what else do you have to do abroad? Knowing that at that age for instance, you are living the last stages of your life, if you don't want to be die abroad and give your children too much stress of moving your body back to Nigeria and you don't want to be buried in a foreign land, then the best option is to go back to Nigeria and spend the remaining part of your life. Traditionally speaking, people want to go and return to their father land and not go and die in foreign land. It happens in Nigeria too. For people who are not Lagos indigenes for example, they tend to leave their children in Lagos and retire to their village at old age. It is the same thinking. |
Tadadobe:Why are you guys displaying so much negative energy over people who have traveled abroad? From one thread to another, same talk, same opinion, same anger over something that is not your business. They sold their property to travel, yes,is it your property? They quit their high paying jobs, yes, is it your job? They are washing toilet abroad, yes,is it your toilet or are they using your hand to wash it? They are paying too much bills, yes, is it your bill? Guys, this anger over diasporans is becoming unnecessary. Make una no go commit suicide over somebody's else problem. Face your business and stop bordering yourself over something that is none of your business. |
This thread brought tears to my eyes. The state of Nigeria at the time this thread was made seems to be better than today. So in all these years, the country went backwards. Too bad. |
You don't have money to take care of yourself in Canada like you claimed in your visa application, you don't have the strength to work and make money to survive. Wetin u want make we do naa? |
Iamzik:Until China starts trading with the US in Yuan instead of Dollars, keep dreaming. Let me remind you that China trade with the US is around $700b while China trade with Russia is around $150b. Do you see the difference? The US is China's largest export market making up a whopping 17% of their total export, do you know what that means? If China is still trading with the US who is their largest trade partner with Dollars, what is the brouhaha about dollar losing relevance? Russia has no choice than to trade in Yuan, they have been shut out of the western financial system. |
02Kebreal:The only reason they returned that money like that it's cos Northereners are involved. If not, that money won't have been easily returned. The family will sweat to get it back if they will ever get it back |
amigo1088:This shows how poor your judgment is. You are not intelligent one bit. Moving from one country to another is one of the most important decisions one can make in life, it can make or mar you. Getting the right visa to make the move is not even cheap and stress free. Before deciding to even start the process of getting a visa to relocate, smart people do comprehensive research about where they are going to see if it fits into their short, medium or long term goals. They see if the system they are about to enter fits their philosophy. So all you are telling us is that you didn't know where you were going or how things are or work before you carried ya ass down there. Because, if you did your research, you would have known and probably not bothered relocating since you don't like what you will see. Instead, it took you by surprise. What a poor judgment you exhibited Relocating abroad whether Canada or any other country is not for everyone. Some people have no business leaving their village sef not to talk of even relocating to Lagos. It is not about Canada, it is you not being intelligent to know before you went, except you tell me that the Canadian government begged you to come. My advice for you is to return to Nigeria immediately now you have discovered yourself . The worst thing that can happen to someone who is angry like this is to keep staying and slip into depression. It's not worth it. |
America is becoming very useless. What kind of stupidity is this? Imagine putting children in this mindset at this early age instead of just removing guns off the streets. Why do these guys worship guns so much that they are willing to accept unnecessary deaths? You guys living in America are very tough people ooo. Each time I travel to the US, I don't have peace of mind until I return to Canada. Thank God I didn't accept an offer to work in the US despite the bigger pay. I can't imagine living with this fuckery. Everything is not money abeg. |
Tinubuwins2023e:Have you forgotten that Britain also has nuclear weapons that can wipe out Russia too? See, if you want respect from others, you must first respect yourself. We lost being independent when Nigerian leaders, political class made UK their second home or even their first home. Don't forget that the British health system is what kept our president alive and what is keeping our president elect alive. Don't forget that all important political meetings in Nigeria happens in the UK. The rate at which Nigeria leaders jump in and out of UK is insulting to the Nigerian nation. How many British mps have visited Nigeria not to talk of resting and hosting meetings about Britain in Nigeria? Nigerian leaders want to rest, they travel abroad, they are sick, they travel abroad, they want to even discuss their dirty political deals, they still fly abroad yet they still want respect. |
Wsx2:I'm in Canada but it seems our experiences are different. It seems you are battling with low paying jobs. I and people in my circle are doing high paying jobs. I have changed jobs 3 times in 4 years and each movement increased my pay considerably. When I came to Canada newly, it was rough. I had to go back to school, pursue an in demand highly skilled career and after my first job, I acquired hard core experiences and boom! I became a hot cake. There is no week, I don't get contacted by a recruiter on LinkedIn for a job. I just keep telling them I'm not available for now until I'm ready to make another move. Please don't use your situation to discourage people. Not everyone will do 50k job. There are many factors that would contribute to how things will work for each person so don't use one brush to paint everyone. The reality is that some people will come and struggle, they may never get their dream job. But some will come and blossom. The only advice I give intending japarians is do your research very well. Have short and long term plans and pursue your goals strategically. If I continued in the same career path I was doing in Nigeria probably I'll be one of those people on this forum discouraging people from making a move. The summary is if you do your homework well, have a nice plan, with time all man go dey alright. |
Karikapapaya:I wanted to mind my business since I don't have answers to your question but I feel I should draw your attention to something little but significant especially since you are looking for a better job. From your post, you are using "Am" instead of "I'm ". For someone that has a Master's degree, this could put off a potential employer and portray you in the category of half baked graduates. Please be mindful of this, try not to make this mistake again. When there is a competition for a job, everything matters including how you write because you could be tested in different ways. I hope you see this as a correction for your own good and not an insult. Thanks |

Wahala for people wey no get sense and can easily fall for what they read online. Imagine hyping Russia, like seriously? I will take living in Nigeria any day than living in Russia. I would rather live in a third world country than an authoritarian country. I can't live in a country where 1 man is "god".You can't criticize, you can't voice your opinion, you can't remove him from office, you can't challenge him example Russia, China, North Korea etc. In Russia, criticize Putin and 3 things will happen. Either you chop poison and die, go to jail and be forgotten or You mysteriously fall from a balcony and die. In the last one year alone, do you know how many Russians that have mysteriously fallen to their death or eaten poison? Just Google it. Putin is just an idiot. How can one explain that Canada of 38m people has a bigger economy than a technological advance Russia of 130m people? How do we explain that Russia is more populated, has bigger landmass, has abundant natural resources, may even be technological superior to UK, Germany, France, Italy yet Russia economy is no where near to these countries? Putin has been in power for 23 years and just wasted the time of his country pursuing greatness by military power and yet can't even beat common Ukraine after a year of fighting. The saying that a country cannot do better than the vision of its leaders is true. A visionary leader with the enormous resources of Russia would have taken them to at least no 4 in the world economically. Russia is a big disappointment. People who like Russia have one thing in common and that is hatred for the west. For me, I won't like Peter because of my hatred for Paul, I will only like Peter because of the value it brings. What value does Russia bring? Freedom- NO, Democracy- NO, Economy - NO, Entertainment-NO , Nuclear weapons- YES. Ok, use the nuclear weapons and wipe out US and the west naa- NO, only mouth dem get Anyone who wants to hype Russia, na their business, we can see things with our own eyes. |
Bwise22:Abeg no vex. What is the big deal in visa application that someone cannot apply for themselves and have to rely on agents? Is it a case of not being able to read and write or not having confidence in one's self or what? Everything you need to apply for a visa is well written on their website. No big deal. You can do it, you will do it and you will be successful. |
Lade18:God forbid, I can never place curse on Nigeria even though I dislike how the country is run. By the way, nothing in Nigeria is free. You pay for light you don't have, you still pay for fuel for generator, service your generator. If you add those cost, it is more expensive than abroad. Bros, don't take it personal. We want Nigeria to be great. A better Nigeria is an advantage to us here abroad. It will give us that confidence and pride. I want to walk on the streets of oyibo land and raise my shoulder up cos I come from a great country like I see among the Asians here. |
Lade18:Abeg no vex. Are you referring to me or someone else? I don't understand your problem with me. Do you mean that it is a good thing not to pay bills? I don't get it. |
EgunMogaji2:My Oga, this one wey u dey talk like this, I'm surprised. Ebi like say Nigerian system has happened to you. |
