You probably need to read up on the Russian Tech scene. You're talking about the global leader in technologies like space payload delivery, data security, aerospace tech (especially engine design and manufacture) etc. They're even incorporating Russian chips in Russian computing, although they still can't compete with those from China, USA, Taiwan, and Korea....yet. China's the world's global tech leader, but the Russian Federation is definitely no push-over.

You don't understand my point. I'm saying Russia is punching below her weight considering the technological prowess of the country. Russia should be at least in the top 5 economies.

There is absolutely no reason the UK, France,Canada and about 8 other countries should have a bigger economy to Russia. Russia is far technologically superior to all these countries.
The problem with Russia lies in their leadership. You have Putin who has ruled Russia for about 23 years and counting whose idea of power is just weapons upon weapons that are never going to be used. A different leader other than Putin would probably have a different view and prioritize economic power over military power like China did. You can see how powerful China has become today.

I'm of the opinion that you either practice true democracy and get the dividends or go full autocratic like China and get the reward. This Russian democracy is not helping them at all.
Democracy was designed in such a way that gives room for variety of ideas and views.

When you change leaders, there is a possibility of changing views as the new leader implements what he thinks it's best for the country. Imagine that Buhari will be president for the next 20 years, we are going to be talking about cows and grazing cos that is what he cares about most. But at least we can put our hope that all this cow talk will end in the next 2 years rather than 20 years.Putin is obsessed with military and weapons and that has been his interest since the beginning and it won't change.

Russia can be bigger economically than it is now but she needs a different kind of leader in other to make it happen. Putin tried for Russia in the beginning but I don't think he has any other thing to offer Russia apart from testing weapons.

Always testing weapons that are never used. What is the essence of all these brouhaha?

Russia needs a smart 21st century leader that would harness their technological prowess into economic products like China because that is where the power is not weapons. Very soon they would start playing second fiddle to China as China is becoming a bigger power than them.

Imagine Russia with all this technological brain is no where near being in the top 10 economy. I find it ridiculous that Canada of 37m people has a bigger economy than Almighty Russia because they have a leader for the past 20 years whose only idea of power is to produce weapons upon weapons that won't ever be used.

They should emulate China

Buhari, the police and military knows who and where the bandits. How do you think these bandits will be this bold without the backing of the government? How many days did it take the govt to rein on unknown gun men in the east?

If you are conversant with the Land Use Act as enshrined in our laws. You will know that there is nothing to fear.

The States in Nigeria have absolute and total authority over every land in the country including those bought and C of O were issued on them.

The State govt, can repossess those land at any point in time, even though they have C of O and only pay compensation. And in this case the State simply need not issue any C of O or approve any Deed of Assignment.

The land will remain that of the State forever. And if trouble breeds they can simply stop the usage of the land.

You are correct. Like I said before, you are assuming that things will work the way it is designed to work.
But note that we are dealing with people who don't care about any law. It will be difficult to evict fulanis when they have been entrenched in the land. Blood will have to flow for that to happen and it will lead to full blown terrorism like what is happening in Benue.

Who is even going to stop them if the state wants to end it? The police? The ones that can't enforce an open grazing ban agreed by southern governors? What makes you think they will be interested in enforcing any law that goes against the fulanis? The governors have no real power.

The best way to avoid future bloodshed is to restrict grazing reserves or whatever it is called to the north. Any fulani who wants to graze in the south should buy or rent a land as an individual and do their business. Cow is a big business and should be treated as such.

More clowns... If you set up a proper reserve, and you back it by law. They will levies (not tax) for maintenance and as an income to the management of the facility.

Were you expecting people moving about to pay taxes before?
But all that will change when you have them in a particular location. The levies can be a minute percentage of sales of the cattles. And it will be paid not just by the sellers, but also those that have come to the facilities to buy cattles...

Let's learn how to think rationally like who go school abeg

You wouldn't have been wrong looking at it normally. But you are assuming that we are dealing with rational people. People who have no ulterior agenda of their own.

At face value, the initiative looks harmless and business oriented. However except you just intentionally want to lie to yourself, you should know that this whole thing is a ploy to legally plant fulanis in those lands.

It might look like business today but think about what the situation will be 20 to 30 years from now when they have gained ground, brought in their brothers from Mali and Senegal etc to occupy those lands.Think about the changes that would happen along the line when it will become impossible to resist and back off. Because once you start, bear in mind that there wouldn't be a peaceful exist.

The best thing would have been for the cattle owners to individually buy or rent lands from host communities and ranch their cows. But they don't want that cos it doesn't align with their long term agenda. One cow cost hundreds of thousands of naira so we are not talking of one naira business here. Anyway people who wants to risk their communities and states can go ahead sha.

One thing I like about fulanis is that they have a long term outlook and plan for things. They are not short term thinkers. They are long term strategists. Conquering the hausas which is one of the largest tribes in Africa is not something that was done overnight. Think about it.

Since obviously you know nothing about the Land use laws of the country. I suggest instead of asking misplaced questions. while at it tell your brothers to go back home and buy land and do business in their state of origin. whatever logic you seem to use can be applied back to you.

My brothers will never ask for land to do their private business. They buy or rent lands individually for their businesses whether in their state of origin, east, west or north. Tell your herdsmen brothers to do the same. Case closed.

Only the state governors can approve land for ranching they have refused to do this because the crisis forms a basis for their politics

With all due respect, why should state governors approve land for ranching?

Why should the state be involved in private businesses? Would the state also approve lands for other private businesses? Or are some businesses more important than some others?

If the state has to be involved , why not the herders then go to their state of origin and request their own government to provide the land?

Why should the state provide land to non indigenes to do their private business when they are not giving out the cows free to the people?

Will your state government give out free land to people of other tribes to do pig farming?Remember that some states in the north don't allow the sale of alcohol

I am not trying to fight you, I'm asking these questions to make you think deep and see if this cow controversy in Nigeria actually makes sense except there is any other secret agenda not said in the open.

Do you agree your brothers should only do business in their place of origin? Or is it hard to get that no one has the right to stop others from doing business anywhere in the country they want?

Ok. I agree. If that is the case, why can't they buy a land or rent a space to do their ranch? Every businessman in the north either buys or rent a shop or an office space for their business.
Don't forget that cow meat is not cheap. It is not like we are talking about a 2 naira business here.
Before God and man, will you have accepted any other tribe to graze on northern lands, destroy their farms and kill the locals as it has been happening to southerners over the years now?

I assumed you would have shown us the illegality if his position.

PMB must not listen to what your Govs say, like every conversation one group does not try to lord it's opinion on the other. Using vuvuzelas and social media to reecho your opinion in a bid to force it down the throat of other people won't work. That they express their opinion does not make it a law unless and until they pass such as law

PMB is not a herdsman, be ranches and believe ranching is the future of herding. Under him, our able VP lead a team to developed the National Livestock Transformation Plan NLTP to facilitate the process of ranching.

Govs have continued to be a stumbling obstacle to its implementation because they see the farmers herders conflict as good politics.

This is why despite forking out 100b, GEJ failed epically in achieving Ranching.

So the issue remains we need to talk to each other not at each other as you seem to suggest here.

Why is it so difficult to graze or do your Ruga in the north? There are some states in the north bigger than the entire south east. You can comfortably get just 3 states in the north that would be bigger than the entire south east and south south put together. So what exactly is the problem?

Crime / Re: Two APC Officials Killed By Armed Herdsmen In Makurdi Attack by Kenn55: 6:16pm On Jun 11, 2021
Yoighaman:

Exactly, I was watching 'Narco wars' on Nat Geo yesterday about how drug cartels in Mexico terrorized a particular province for many years, killing them like chickens and the government was barely helpless, blood spill everywhere, men, women, even children were not spared; rape, especially of 11, 12 years old kids were rampant.

The inhabitants of the province got fed and decided to take their destiny into their hands by forming a vigilante group and standing up to the major dreaded cartel, it was fire for fire and after countless deaths on both sides for a long period of time, the province won, the main cartel boss was killed and that was the end of the organization.

Sometimes, you need to stand up and look your enemy in the eye especially in this case of Nigeria where the patron of the herdsmen is the same man you are calling and looking up to, to defend you. He is a tribal and religious bigot who would simply stand on the side of his blood-thirty trouble mongers. A word is enough for the wise.

You guys don't understand what is going on. Before you get to the herdsmen, you will have to get over the police and army first. Nigeria case is different from the example you cited above because in our case the state security apparatus are against the people and defending the terrorists. It is not a case of the security being overwhelmed and citizens step up to fight, it is a case of the security of a country tactically supporting the terrorists against the people. So it is a difficult fight to win

The moment the indigenes go after the fulanis that is when you will see the army with operation something and the aim will be to stop the villagers from attacking the terrorists .

You can not form q vigilante and give them AK47. Where would you bring it from? Who control borders and customs? You think Buhari will allow a governor give vigilantes AK47 to fight the herdsmen?

So the governors are helpless in this regard. Has Amotekun stopped fulanis from killing in southwest?

This is why the north does not want restructuring. Imagine if there is a regional or state police answerable to the people of the state. How would they not have flushed these terrorists out of their state.

The only way for this governors to confront this is to covertly back non state actors to take the fight to the herdsmen but then the police and army will come for them. It is a messed up situation

The guy has been arrested and he would face assault charges. He may get up to a year in prison.
However, you are partly right. In Nigeria, the guy would have no chance of slapping the president cos our leaders stay far away from the people with a lot of DSS around.
Even if he succeeds in slapping the president, someone will gun him down immediately and would be labeled a terrorist.

Is there a reason for this? Maybe they are mentally ill or something is pursuing them inside. This is not normal behaviour at all.

The problem is that most of them don't want to live under a rule. For instance, in one of the homeless shelters in my city, there is no smoke or drug policy and some other rules. I don't know if it is the rule in all shelters.

According a worker in that shelter, when these people are brought and they find out they can't do some of those things, they move out to live in the street. They rather live in the street and beg and do their smoke and drugs than living in a homeless shelter.

Unfortunately in the west, nobody wants to force anybody to do anything against their will.

Twitter as a form of social media, should not be an agent for destabilization but a tool for deepening democracy and promoting good governance in Nigeria and Africa as a whole..

Twitter must respect the sovereign integrity of nations wherein they operate.

If a government had designated a group as a terrorist group, Twitter has no justification to allow such groups to propagate their rhetoric via their platform.

If Twitter has the right to remove/block anybody out of their platform for breaking their 'rules' , countries too have the same right to ban or suspend Twitter operations in their countries as well for aiding or abetting Terrorists.

#I Support Nigeria

The corporate entity Nigeria is bigger than fulani herdsmen and open grazing. If Buhari can't call his fulani terrorists back to Katsina and allow villagers to have peace in Benue and the south then Twitter has the right to remove his post.
Buhari is the one aiding and abetting terrorists. Have you ever heard of the army raiding bushes and killing fulani terrorists that murder innocent villagers? They don't do that. They only fight those fighting the terrorists.

What if they even investigate for you and find out he is not married to the lady, they can't force him to communicate or come back to you. Inform your family make una go meet his family to resolve the matter, the marriage in my opinion is over.

I get ya point. However, I'm of the opinion that getting to the root of the matter would be better for her. Remember that the guys family are claiming they have not heard from their son. It takes 2 people to dissolve a marriage. My advice to her will be to exercise a little more patience to see if he comes back to his senses.

If the investigation finds that the guy is not married to any lady there, then the implication is that he does not want his marriage anymore. Then he can agree to a dissolution of the marriage instead of using this wicked tactics to leave the marriage.

Like you said, the marriage is over but it has to be officially over which will require the consent and agreement of the parties involved

I don't understand how people can't be bold enough to take decisions. Marriage is not by force. If after 2 days of marriage, you no longer want it, then be bold and say so. No court can ever force 2 people to stay married. Instead, I see people trying to dissolve their marriage indirectly when they can do it straightforward.

I went through a lot of psychological trauma as a result thinking what could have happened and I was left ghosted on

That is why I say give him more time to finish school cos once you start, the marriage is good as gone.
If by the end of the next 4 months things don't change, get a lawyer and let him present a case of hostage taking to the Canadian authorities. With the threat emails, you can claim someone has taken him hostage and has prevented you access to him.
When the authorities start investigating, the truth will come out. If he is married or in common law relationship with another woman, the question is how, when he has not divorced you.
If he is not married and he doesn't want the marriage with you, then you end it officially.
At the end of the day, any official step you take will likely end the marriage so you have to be sure that you have gotten to a stage where you are ready to end it

He told me he found ways of working more than the stipulated hours assigned to students, I was even worried that he might get into trouble, but he told me not to worry that there are ways to navigate it without getting into trouble. No he wasn’t like this initially, this whole thing started this year and he is meant to finish school in less than four months. I only have copies of the threatening mails is that enough evidence to build a case? I just want him and his family to come clean to me so I know the best way forward not when I am left in the dark, no communication whatsoever and I am legally and traditionally married to him, I am even more worried what if he has fake divorce documents without my knowledge. I need help honestly, please this is depressing

It is obvious he has been struggling with finances and school. However, the extent to which it affected his current behavior is still to be determined

I think he unblocks you when he need to send you messages but blocks you afterwards. I think you have enough to build a case and you shouldn't worry about fake divorce documents because it helps your case to deal with him.

I will say give him more time preferably 4 months to finish his school. I know this is difficult but you have to be seen as have done everything humanly possible to remedy the situation before you act. During this period, keep trying to communicate, talk to his parents etc. You can create new profiles and emails to reach him and see if he blocks that one too. Keep documenting the evidences .

It is possible he may realize himself and come back to you or continue in his way. If nothing happens at the end, you can decide how to deal with him.

For someone like me, I give people benefit of doubt and I'm very slow to fight, I make sure I exhaust all options and patience and then when I fight, I fight to destroy, finish and things will never remain the same for the opponent. This is because when I start, even the air we breathe and ground we match will bear me witness that I have tried.

How do I get concrete evidence against him that will make him confess and appropriate authorities to reach out too. He will be done with school in less than 4months.

This is what I think.
1. He could have dropped out of school which will make him an illegal immigrant and not qualified for a post graduate work permit. There is no way someone who is a legal student will worry about immigration after school cos there are enough pathways to get permanent residency after school.
If he has dropped out, the only option he has is to try marriage to a citizen to prevent deportation.

2. If he did not drop out, then he never loved you. Probably he is looking for a way out of the marriage and see this as an opportunity to end it. His thinking may be that he can frustrate you to the extent that you quit the marriage on your own.
If this is the case, then I think the confidence to behave this way may be that he filled out he is single during the Visa application.
However what he does not know is that Canada has a soft spot for women and you can finish his career if you have the concrete evidence

But if I may ask, how long has he been in Canada and when did he start acting this way? Was everything good initially?
