Foreign Affairs › Re: Russia & China Create A 'No Limit' Alliance Amidst Rising Tension In Europe by Kenn55: 8:10pm On Feb 04, 2022 |
The reason why America has not been toppled today is because the alternative is more dangerous. Russia and China should ask themselves, why do countries that border them that naturally should be close to them like to align with America and the west instead? Why? The answer to that question will help them solve the problem from the root.
The answer to that question is simple. Nobody on earth wants to live under authoritarianism. The only people who fancy it are those in power and lording over others. Putin has seen the back of 4 US presidents from Clinton to Trump. Is he the only wise man in Russia? Which progressive country will like to align with a one man country with absolute powers?
Despite how bleeped up Nigeria is, the freedom in Nigeria is a million times better than what you have in Russia and China. At least every 4 years , Nigerians have the opportunity to make their voices heard. People can criticize the Government without having to be disappeared like in China or poisoned like in Russia.
You can't build alliance by force as Russia and China wants to do with Taiwan and Ukraine. The west is very attractive because they are an open society. If Russia and China wants to topple America then build an open society and see the west fall like a pack of cards cos that is the only thing the west have that Russia and China does not have. But if they think they can coarse countries into their orbit with sheer force, then good luck to them, they are not yet ready. |

opalu: I think the Private Sector in Nigeria is very indolent and insolent. Infact there is a huge vacuum created by this inactivity of the Private Sector. The only people representing the Private sector are Banks that oppress the masses and Oil companies that are owned by Cronies of Government officials.
Everyone is waiting for FG to do what private sectors of other countries do. We are waiting for FG that is Rotten from the top to convert fuel cars to electric cars or to gas cars. FG or their cronies cannot solve any of our problems. See the mess they have done to DISCOS which they gave their friends. Now they have huge gbese on their heads as we speak Don't blame the private sector. Nobody wants to put money in an unstable and uncertain environment. Before you venture into any venture in Nigeria, you need to conduct a thorough risk assessment and they don't come out nice. |

Why are you telling us now, should I leave the Shawarma and waist trainer and my host of businesses I need to make sales and profit from to help you drive out the crazy land grabbers What exactly do you guys expect the governors to do? They have passed anti open grazing bill yet the police and the FG are not interested in enforcing it. They have created Amotekun but FG will not allow them to arm them with AKs to fight the herdsmen and as a result they become ineffective. The only solution is to restructure the security Architecture of the country to state or regional police forces that would be answerable to the state and regions but again the FG and fulanis will not allow that. The south needs to come together and elect somebody who will have the balls to restructure the country else we will keep being helpless and wasting the blood of our people unnecessarily |

You prefer to leave the poor in Nigeria to live in a place where the citizens prefers to make their country work instead of looking for the easy way out like you did! He’s still in Nigeria and contributing his quota. It will be selfish of me to claim things are working well for the country because I'm doing well personally. This is what some people do and that is what I'm preaching against. Btw, who told you we are not contributing our quota? GetMeRight: All he told you was that you don't need to get to USA or Canada to enjoy regular electricity. Even in abroad, those services don't come cheap, you still need to able to afford it before you can have access. Either in Nigeria or abroad, you need to be able to afford it. I don't see where the word selfishness was coming from. There are many homes in Nigeria that couldn't even afford electricity bills. So, what are we arguing about? It is selfish because he is saying he and his friends can afford 247 light and he is using it as a basis of argument as if every other person can afford it. It looks like those doing well in Nigeria prefer Nigeria to be in this shape. They seem to enjoy the attention they get. Having 247 light and other basic amenities in Nigeria is nothing to be proud of or happy about in public. Rather what we should be happy and proud of is when the whole country has 247 light for everyone. Nigeria needs to level up with other countries in the world in terms of the basics, we can talk about science and technology later. The poor in Nigeria deserve to have the basic amenities like the poor in other parts of the world too. Light, water, good roads, good public schools, good hospitals shouldn't be for the selected few who can afford it, they are the basics of living for crying out loud. If we can't understand this fact, I don't know how we can ever get past this level as a country. |

Since you enjoy 24/7 electricity, does everyone in the city or state enjoy same. Why are we selfish as a people? How can people be taking pride in selfishness? You and your friend enjoy 24/7 light, others can go to hell and you are happy about it. May God forgive all of you in Nigeria. |

When they open their office, will you then be happy? I doubt it. Don't get me wrong. It is a suspicion and I don't think there is anything wrong in that suspicion knowing how this government behaves. Secondly, you guys are always quick to bring in love or hate in discussion, is this supposed to be an emotional blackmail or what? For instance, my love or hate for Buhari or any other person does not have any impact. What will have an impact is Buhari leading the country well. Plantiff: Celebrity worship syndrome is becoming an epidemic in Africa and it seems as though Nigeria is its epicentre.
The bulk of Nairaland members will criticize her but they aren't different. It is because the majority are part of the whole and complicit in this negative cultural evolution that we have stories of bad influences, like Tonto Dike brushing her teeth or Mrs Regina Nwoko taking air transport, grace the front page of Nigeria's biggest forum.
It gets worse when the media amplifies their nuisance. It pushes more black children to believe that drugs, fraud, sex trading and entertainment are the only ways out of poverty and this belief correlates with the neglect of science, which inspires innovations , nation building , economic development and civilization that are prevalent everywhere else but sub-saharan Africa.
There are way more Nigerian children and teenagers who know that the ghetto musician, Portable, was gifted an old Range Rover this past day than those who know that the under-30 Nigerian founders of paystack sold the startup for $200 million (US Dollars) this year
More Nigerian kids therefore aspire to be like Portable instead of the Paystack founders because of celebrity worship syndrome.
You made a lot of sense. For a country so underdeveloped trying to catch up with the rest of the world, I think we should start defining our priorities starting this year. I wish the media will do this because they have the biggest influence. Nigerian media has made a lot of idiots famous. Imagine waking up and seeing bobrisky and mompha stupid stories on front page so early in the year. If we must develop as a country then we including the media need to see trash for what it is and keep it out of public space. |

The wise are heavily investing in Nigeria while the weak are looking for how to go abroad. The whole world is tired of China, they are looking for cheap labor, Nigeria is the next China. We have the population, the youth and the literacy level to be the next manufacturing power. Plus, several countries that benefited from slavery (U.S, UK, Spain and Portugal) have proposed ways to pay back Africans for all the abuse, exploitations throughout our history. There is a conscious effort to make Africa the next industrial hub. Those lacking foresight won't see this, they only see the now and not the later. Ignore the noise and look for a small factory you can start; In the next 5yrs all the big multinational companies like Amazon, Walmart and co will be pouring billions into our infrastructure just to enable us to manufacture goods for them. So many people will miss this boat, but you are hearing this now, act on it. If wishes were horses..... |

owagbeba: Honestly, I’m beginning to believe this hypothesis that there is a consensus amongst the elite to keep the masses impoverished. But what really befuddles me Is when a few breaks out from the impoverished mass and makes it into the political class, they start acting under the same consensus. Any explanation?
Look at Oshomole, wasn’t he part of the struggling class impoverished by the ruling elite. You are right. I want to believe that it is a black man thing unfortunately. There is no other explanation that would make sense. Let us even remove Nigeria and evaluate all black owned or black dominated countries from Africa to Central America, there you see a pattern. I think we have this mindset of let me win and let others loose instead of win win. We as a people are happy to win and see others loose. This I think is the foundation of our problems. |
Car Talk › Re: Tesla Car Spotted On The Mainland Bridge In Lagos Runs Out Of Battery by Kenn55: 2:35pm On Dec 31, 2021 |
owagbeba: Why can’t we have a stable power supply?
Why can’t we reform the laws allowing states to generate power under clean energy act?
Why can’t the central leadership coerce all these “no-good” state leadership to get up and starting working for their state rather than wait for handout from central? Most of the Emirates in UAE run their own power supply scheme. Some emirates like Ajman is not as big as Lagos, yet they have their power plants. See below photo3 Ajman’s power plant.
It’s 2021.... the science of power generation is quite rudimentary at these times. Not a big deal! It’s the same basic science of your tiger generator scaled up a thousand times.
Turkey runs an offshore power turbine (on ship) off the coast of Lebanon to supply power to this nation (Lebanon). Lagos can get one of this. Lagos can afford it. If they can’t, then rent the service. See below Turkey’s Karpowership.
China will be more than happy to build a power plant on each state in Nigeria on a long term repayment agreement; just the way we partnered with them on rail.
Sometimes we need brute force to make a change... the way Sanusi forced everyone to go cashless. Now POS operator is a popular employment scheme around Nigeria, though not good enough, better then staying unemployed.
But what we have is a bunch of clowns who are after their own interest. Their greed stinks! Most often they distract the people with non issues while they are neck deep in the coffers
It’s an APC government, an APC legislature... what are they waiting for?
PS: second photo is shell’s power supply scheme to Aba industrial zone. It’s a limited scheme. Nigeria will collect loan for everything except for things that would make the maximum impact. Have you ever wondered why Nigeria can't collect money from China or elsewhere to fix electricity or build new refineries? The answer is simple. Those 2 areas will produce a positive effect that would improve the state of the country and empower the citizens but what the government and Nigerian elites don't want to see is the progress of the common man. Keeping the common man poor and suffering is a good tool to control them and use them for their selfish interest. The poorer the people, the better for the elites who want total control of the people. |
