Your testimony of an event from 20 years ago with no independent witness, no rape exam, no shin shin is USELESS. All it gets is public sympathy, it would be interesting to see the judge that would convict him absence of real evidence!

Did you watch the video of yesterday? Do you know that there are many other victims, and some of them may be willing testify against Biodun? He may not be convicted solely on Busola's case, but on the cases of others who will join in the suit. Releasing that video was strategic in bringing out more victims who couldn't talk before, whose events are more recent, and who may have more tangible evidence.
Let us just sit still and watch events unfold.

In addition to that, the power most rapists hold over their victims is shame. By coming out, she has taken that from him. Also, she has made certain that EVERYTHING is in the public space. No opportunity for pastor to engage some police to kill the case.

The case will be prosecuted in lagos, a very progressive state that has aggressively pushed for female protections.

Nairaland forum is not the best way to handle rape case , and trying to shame the said pastor is either not the way . Things should be done properly , she should approach the relevant authorities to seek justice ,instead of social media if she really had the proof .

It will only hurt them, if they lied against Pastor Biodun. I can't say with certainty whether he raped her or not, even though I feel more strongly that he did. Even if he didn't rape her but only had consensual sex with her, I feel this should serve to put his sexcapades in check, knowing that he's a pastor.

About them having issues in marriage, are you saying that if they divorce in 2 or 3 years time, it would definitely be as a result of this issue? All the other celebrity marriages that have crashed in the past few years, were they also as a result of publicising a rape case? As a matter of fact, there are more celebrities with broken marriages than those whose marriages are working.

I don't see how Nigeria being a religious country has anything to do with the present issue. So because Nigeria is a religious country, that is why the tide will turn against Timi and his wife in the future? I really don't understand that point.

The 2 pastors mentioned: Pastor Flo and Pastor Wole are still COZA Pastors, pastoring Lagos and PH chapters respectively. They are under Pastor Biodun, so can be bullied by the ministry to deny the allegations (if a legal action is instituted), except they choose to resign their positions.

My knowledge of legal proceedings is actually deficient, but I believe that witness accounts of family members are insufficient in bringing about a conviction, in cases like this.

Let me also let you know that millions of Nigerian ladies are rape victims, so it isn't a big deal. I would rather marry a girl who has been raped before but has healed fully and isn't affected by it anymore, than marry a girl who has committed an abortion. Infact, I will even chose a rape victim with no emotional or psychological baggage than a lady who has had consensual sex multiple times before. A girl whose only sexual encounter was a rape has far more decency than the regular girls you guys sleep with.

In the court, her family's testimony can't lead to a conviction. COZA Pastors would definitely deny that they knew about it. I don't count those as evidence in the court.

Social media isn't a court of law where judgement in cases like this are carried out, it's a world where strangers are always ready to catch trip with your shiits.

Simple question for you: if Timi and his wife had sued Pastor Biodun, and a case of rape was instituted against him and a hearing has started, do you think the news won't be all over social media now? Won't everybody by now know that she was raped? The only difference it would have made is that the noise would have been less, and perhaps there wouldn't have been protests. If they needed more victims to join in the suit, how would those victims have known before the commencement of the trails?

You see, Pastor Biodun is under spiritual authority. There are men of God he reveres, and they are the ones that made him to step down. Biodun can lie to the world, even the justice system, but he cannot lie to those people. Those are the people that matter more in this case, and I can bet you that they are already involved. The court alone wouldn't have achieved much, cos Busola didn't have any tangible evidence. Biodun would have denied all the allegations in court. With the involvement of those pastors whom Biodun respects, he cannot but admit his guilt (if he is actually guilty as charged).

Busola and Timi also put their reputation on the line to save others. Don't think they were stupid, and didn't know people like you would come and shame them online. They were very much aware, and I'm sure they are ready to bear the consequences. If speaking out will make Busola heal, it is much more important to her than what people like you will think about her later on. If it will also save one or more other victims from the same predator and men like him, then it would be worth it at the end.

Finally, your attitude is the reason why rape will continue unabated in Nigeria. As you guys keep shaming rape victims, you're discouraging other victims from coming out, thereby fuelling the evil of the rapists. This is clearly rape apology, and it is almost as evil as the actual rape.
