I admire your stand, what the cadets did was very wrong, if I happened to be there would have scolded them, before letting the civilian free.

If I was in the shoes of the civilian I would have rather preferred dead before being that dishonoured by a woman.

Believe me many civilian guys would compliment that same cadet girl and go scot free.
Are you an officer, sir? I throway salute

Well, the guy must have weighed the risks before 'obeying'.
Yes. We all weigh the risks, but it is evident that the scales by which men weigh risks are different. Firstly though, i would never pay a random stranger a compliment on the road, and i would go out of my way to avoid getting into a confrontation with any security officer. In fact i would avoid a confrontation with authority as much as possible but there is a certain point beyond which a man must not be pushed.

As Patrick Henry said and i quote, "i know not what course others may choose, but as for me, give me liberty or give me death"!

That guy is a wuss... first of all, those are baby slaps and second of all no unarmed female soldier dares that with me...is she mad? I'd rather let her male colleagues give me the beating of my life than tolerate such from a woman. In fact, unarmed, one on one no soldier will ever do such a thing to me.

before where do you think bullets explode? In the mid air? In normal operation the gun powder should explode in the chamber, the part containing the gun powder drops off while the lethal part flies to its target at least that's why we have recoils, unlike in rocket technology where there is no explosion per say just ignition of propellant that burns till target is reached or 'fuel' finishes before it explodes. Thats why we don't experience recoils that are equivalent to the size of the missile or rocket. And for my country man that mentioned some recent donations from the USA don't forget that most of those equipments turned out to be liabilities because the need one form of repair before the can be put into use which means the are substandard too. When you can get such from direct source what do you expect from black market where if you complain those that placed embargo on you will block that black market link. Don't forget he was forced to buy equipments like a terrorist organisation because of some unpatriotic utterances from some elites in the north and opposition that failed to separate national security from politics. His only problem was that he was so soft on them, allowing them to go free after making treasonable statements. I just feel God wants teach most of us in Nigeria some hard lessons.
Sorry, but i can't see why you're quoting me to write all this sir? The poster i quoted, and was correcting, asserted that Mr Mohammed stated that weapons were exploding, which according to that poster is a ridiculous thing to say, and which if Mr Mohammed did say, would indeed have been ridiculous, given that weapons ordinarily are not combustible. I merely pointed out to the chap that Mr Mohammed instead, actually said that the ammunition loaded into the weapons were exploding in an abnormal fashion.

Now, was there any need to quote me sir?

People can be so cruel.

I see no reason beaten her up.....its an accident, not like she purposely want to kill people for no reason.

May the souls of the victims rest in peace.
Bro, I won't go as far as saying she deserved to be beaten (though i'm thinking it, and there, now i've said it), but my guy a car, a big one like a land cruiser for that matter, is a lethal weapon in the hands of a person who does not know how to drive....

Guy...8 people killed? She started from a stationary position and surged forward according to the article...that implies over-speeding from the driver, plus the article says the car continued to move forward after hitting the initial set of victims and only stopped after hitting some cars, which means she was either inebriated or simply didn't know what to do to stop the car. So why was she driving?

Just to help you out...ammunition refers to things such as bullets and other projectiles, but not the guns themselves.

[quote author=giantstrides post=42473329]Please highlight where the police claimed she was involved in the crime. The police only claimed they traced the money to their house. Look at it this way, it's like a father having a son who is an armed robber or a cultist, they trace weapons to the son house and then decide to arrest the father for crimes committed by the son, if the police can prove her involvement, she should face the music by all means, but if not, why should she suffer for it. There are countless armed robbers who hide this from their family.[/
quote]

Yes, and the fact that countless robbers hide their activities from their families does not mean that every criminal does so. The fact that weapons wer found in her house is arrest worthy and if she could help the police in their investigation, that's fine.

shatap so if your father is an arm robber the police should arrest you for your father's sin which you know nothing about
What is the evidence that you would not know about your father's crimes, in your fictional narrative?

The people making the argument that the police were "morally" and "legally" wrong to do what they did seem to base their entire argument upon the assumption that the wife did not know of her husbands activities.

Such an assumption is firstly odd due to the fact that a cursory perusal of the article reveals salient facts that strongly point to the contrary, no least, the statement by the women herself asserting that her husband received the ransom money but is not a part of the kidnap gang.

Ignoring the blatant implication of guilt so inextricably entwined with the above-referenced statement, the logic for the argument that "she knows nothing" appears to stem wholly from the logic that one's wife cannot possibly be involved in one's misdeeds, simply because she is, well...one's wife. This is non sequitur at best and absolutely absurd, at the worst.

Oga, did you read the article?

The ransom was traced to their house, were weapons were also found, and then she was arrested according to the article. Now, i'm interested in hearing you plan to frame your argument that "she knows nothing" about his crime(s) when evidently she has been aiding and abetting his activities?

Enlighten me please.

PoliticsRe: A Vehicle With "BIAFRA" As Number Plate In The US Spotted By A Nairalander by Kgdavid(m): 8:37am On Jan 30, 2016
OPCNAIRALAND:
Ibo, you love my input, stop pretending. Let me lecture you on the OP point and US Marine Force.

I once saw a car in a parking lot with a face cap emblazoned with an insignia that says ex- US Navy SEALS. Instantly I reminded myself that whoever owned this car was a black man. In America, their politics is along color line....ours in Nigeria is along ethnic line.

Soon enough he stepped out of the store. He didnt need to approach the car for me to know this is our SEAL dude. His attitude and swagger is loud and broadcasted who he was, without saying a word.
He was young and healthy, a perspective not to ignore for his current status.

SEALs are indoctrinated and groomed on siege, camouflaging, staying in the bacground, discreet, endurance, humility and hiding identity.

If you can be identified as a SEAL in public you are an endangerement and risk to the corps, your service ends! This would explain why at such young age and fit he was an ex.....they kicked him out for public display and lack of discretion.

This says much about your Marine Biafran. Who cares if he is Marine or security guard, who gives a dam.n that he is both Marine and a Biafran? The two aspects put together as a combined force is meaningless unless you are armed and facing an enemy.

A Marine is lethal only when armed with a lethal weapon. The Marines posted to Mogadishu were humiliated and America had to evacuate them before the Somalis would kill em all off.

The Marines stationed in Fallujah had to back off after months of failed air and ground assault that exposed their vulnerability and demystified their superiority in combat.

So parading yourself as a Marine and a Biafran is a big risk. Tell your brother to humble his ego and take cue from other Nigerians who served, and are still serving in US Marines and do so incognito!
Being a fanatic bout these things I must point out that it was Rangers not Marines in Mogadishu.

Also, how can you tell why the black ex seal left the force? You just presented an inference as fact. The behavior you described is actually quite typical of Seals.

In fact let me add that fallujah was a victory for the US, just that they paid a heavy toll for it. And it wasn't only Marines in fallujah

What I think we need to investigate seriously, is the school where you learnt comprehension. Because the answers you seek are right there in th article. Does it cost so much to take 3 minutes to read?

It is not as though they literally ascribe the ranks of their choice, they go through the regular promotion process but flout certain key rules in the process.

RomanceRe: Types Of Guys You Should Not Play 'Hard-To-Get' With by Kgdavid(m): 10:11am On Jan 23, 2016
Rapmoney:
There is always this misconception among our young Nigerian ladies of today that playing 'hard to get' is the sure way of identifying a guy who truly desires and cherishes them. This notion is not only fallacious, it also stands on a sinking foundation! There are guys who would play along with you to the end just to 'get down with you' and eventually show you the EXIT SIGN when it is time for them to take a leave cool It doesn't matter the method you use in playing the so-called 'hard to get'. If you like, do it in a Chinese style or Zimbabwean style!!! Dat nor be dia concern!!! wink

On a serious note, that a guy doesn't have time to start running after you like a kindergaten child doesn't mean he never desired you or liked you in sincerity. Different strokes for different folks, they say wink Below are the types of guys that find it difficult to tolerate 'hard to get' in romantic affairs:

1) Intelligent guys: These set of guys find it difficult to tolerate all the unnecessary rigmarole that comes with a lady playing hard-to-get. Do you think an intelligent person doesn't know he is? huh You cannot be the one to tell him; he knows it. He probably has some real brain-storming stuffs to do that can create wealth and help others as well other than chasing you up and down the road or calling your line several times without any response on daily basis!

2) Ambitious guys: When I say 'ambitious', I'm not talking of guys who wake up in the morning with huge wraps of indian hemp in their hands with loud talk of 'I go hammer, I go hammer'!!! I mean guys who have concrete dreams and are working towards it. They probably won't have time to chase you here and there when they know they have lot and lot of work to do. There's a difference between chasing women and dating a girl; you probably don't expect the latter to slow down his dreams! He might need you sincerely; he doesn't want to chase women wink

3) Guys that are emotionally strong: It takes an emotionally strong bloke to turn down the unreasonable request of a woman in a reasonable way. This means that guys who are emotionally strong have a greater possibility of saying 'NO' to the ritualistic torture or torment that goes with playing hard-to-get. They might easily back up. That doesn't mean they lacked sincere desires or are feeble-minded; it could mean that they are just too emotionally upgraded to start playing the role of a primary school boy in a movie directed by the lady!

4) Introverted guys: These people think very deeply because they spend much time alone. When a lady plays hard to get, it irritates them often times and they quickly dump her matter!!! Now, what's the stress? huh Since he is a deep thinker and probably a melancholic, he might paint a beautiful picture of love for you in his heart and when you mess up with your hard-to-get stunts, he quickly gives up because you not only burst his bubbles; you spoil the beautiful picture he employs his creativity painting.

Good evening!
Finally a write up on romance that is aligned with reality.

Grade A effort here bro, well done.

Funny people.
Which intelligence organization divulges his finding on the pages of newspaper and on social media before acting and aborting the enemy's plan?
Is alerting people to be on the look out for suspicious looking/acting fruit sellers not one clever strategy to prevent these attacks?

Don't you also realize that prevention is better than cure, and by making it known that the enemy's strategy is already known, one can force the enemy to hold off on implementation of their plan, and thereby save lives?

Valeree:
the 12 year old did not appear in court. and his father happens to have worked in the Navy connecting him to some influential persons in the realm before he retired, plus he is the fathers son and girl is an orphan. this is enough to vindicate his lying azz.
Actually these facts appear too convenient to be realistic.

1. He couldn't stop his drunk friend from raping a 12 year old? Hard to see how probable that could be given that drunk people have impaired motor skills, and the girl could have run.

2. Who rapes someone in full view of the public? But even assuming that part is realistic,

3. The person who caught them called the cops; you mean they waited for the cops to come and arrest them at the scene when they had a car and could easily flee?

4. India does have sensible functioning courts and this whole scenario is a joke as far as legal process is concerned

5. Is the OP a Nigerian? Then i fail to see how his father could have served in the Indian navy... and if he is Indian, why telling this story on Nairaland?

No I don't not agree. Soldiers are not the only heros we have. Everyone that has a job, serves the nation in their various ways, is part of nation building, and thus, a hero. I know I do not want to die for Nigeria on the war front, the reason I didn't go to pick a form with them! The reason I do not earn as much as they do!

I do not however mean to undermine their efforts for the betterment of nation. In my first post, I said "Thank you for your service to the nation".
Do you understand now?
I would not like to derail this thread by continuing this argument.

Saying you don't mean to undermine their service does not change the fact that, that is exactly what you did and continue to do.

Someone died just so that argumentative people like you can chill somewhere and boldly say " I don't want to die for this nation at the warfront" well guess what? Someone did die for this nation at the warfront and we are here to honor them and not to hear out your inconsequential opinion on whether they are heroes or not!
PoliticsRe: Soldier Writes From Sambisa Forest In Commemoration Of Armed Forces Remembrance by Kgdavid(m):

Don't let emotions cloud your sense of judgment. Anyone at his/her place of work is on duty. Nobody plans to die while on duty. But if it happens, that person is a hero! Think!
But you specifically implied that soldiers are not heroes?? Now based on wat you just said, you have contradicted yourself and implied that soldiers indeed are heroes, in which case your only logical remaining point is that engineers who die on duty are also heroes, which makes one wonder why you couldn't create your own thread and call it engineers are heroes to?

Buy even at that, your definition of heri is far off. One is not a hero simply because one dies on duty . . no. Soldiers are considered heroes because they die to protect others and whether dead or alive, every soldier who has participated in a conflict is a hero.

Now do you understand?

Thank you for your service to the nation.

But are soldiers and pilots really heroes especially when they die in the line of duty?
If I go to work on an offshore platform as an engineer and die , will I be considered a hero?
Were they not fully aware of the risks involved in their line of duty? Are they not paid to do their jobs?

Please reason well

When an engineer dies its called an accidentaccident.

When a soldier dies it is called doing his duty.
