Justice Umar did not fall for any shenanigan. He was perfectly right to reject the hearing of that vexatious motion which impugned on his integrity. The plan of the defence team to destabilise proceedings of that day did not work for them. That so called SAN was lucky that Justice Umar did not cite him for contempt in facie curiae and sentenced him accordingly. He showed absolute disrespect to the tribunal presided over by a judge.

This was a communique issued by the so called eminent lawyers in March. A journalist, probably on the payroll of Senator Saraki, raked up the story again this April inorder to whip up unnecessary sentiments for the embattled senator. The Supreme Court has ruled that CCT has the requisite jurisdiction to try Senator Saraki on false assets declaration offences. The eminent lawyers so called should live with it! Justice Danladi Umar has no reason to recuse himself from adjudicating on the matter involving the defendant, and is not likely to do so, anyways. CCT is not the final court in this instance. If the tribunal finds Saraki guilty of the offences he is charged with, he has options of appeal up to the Supreme Court. So, what is all the hulla baloo about? Why is Saraki's case so important to this "eminent lawyers?" Is he the only person being tried by the tribunal at the moment? Graft is a terrible thing. It makes otherwise reasonable men sound unreasonable! This is unfortunate.

DPR is an embodiment of corruption. The Department colludes with independent marketers to rip Nigerians off at this period of fuel scarcity. To them, this situation should not abate. Officials of DPR, in the guise of enforcing price regulation, visits filling stations across the country for this purpose, but leaves such filling stations immediately they are settled. Once they leave, the filling stations adjust their metres back to the old, prohibitive selling price. Where then is the enforcement? Even when such stations are purportedly sealed, they are unsealed a day or two later after their owners have settled officials of DPR. And the cycle of corruption continues!

FFK called Obasanjo 'father of the nation'. Father of the nation, indeed! On what basis or premise did FFK arrogate such an exalted appellation reserved for true and patriotic statesmen to Obasanjo? What qualifies a man who lusted for and fought for third term, massacred civilians in Odi and Zakibiam, elevated corruption to an art during his regime, to such reverred and adored title? For the records, Obasanjo is not the father of any nation, talkless, of Nigeria. He may be a father to FFK who benefitted from his ignoble regime but not to Nigerians. Anyways, Metuh wrote such lengthy article in anticipation of his arrest by EFFC. He was eventually arrested and is today standing trial for corruption. This treatise will therefore not save FFK from arrest and eventual prosecution if the need for that arises. He was part of the massively corrupt campaign team of the immediate past administration and cannot claim ignorance of the fact that state funds were used to prosecute their failed election bid. FFK should not put on a holier-than-thou attitude in this instance. He should honour the invitation of EFCC whenever that comes. It will offer him an opportunity to clear his name. Attempting to do so on social media will not work.

I thought the dude who posted this gibbrish was about to take us on a legal journey on how his master will meander through the legal web to be in the clear but I was disappointed after reading the first line of his meaningless post. Even if his pay master wll eventually get reprieve at the apex court, he will still be in prison custody serving the sentence of the tribunal should he be convicted of the offences he is charged with. Either way, it is a no win situation for Saraki.

With the prouncement of the CCT Chairman, the number of idle senators who accompany their master to the tribunal will reduce drastically bearing in mind the number of days a legislator must be at the senate on sitting days to retain his membership. Today, only 13 idle senators followed Saraki to the tribunal.

Collecting the so called generator tax from the impoverished citizens of Benue State is ridiculous. And to worsen matters, one lousy government official had the effrontery to exhibit his naivety by explaining that the oppresive tax will be used to maintain the ozone layer. How dumb can some people get?

This rerirement is in order. How can an Army Spokesman claim that Buhari's certificate was not in their possession? Buhari rose to the position of a General in the army and held several important positions in the country includung being the Head of State between 1983 and 1985. The entire process that produced Yahaya Bello as the Governor of Kogi State is fraught with irregularities and cannot stand. Idris Wada's arguement is also porous. The best bet is for the Tribunal to cancel the election and order fresh polls.

This petition doesn't make sense. If indeed the judge was the classmate of Metuh, the judge would have disqualified himself from the case earlier on and even before taking evidence from the witnesses. It is never heard that a petition will be written requesting transfer of a case after a ruling has been delivered on a No Case submission and the defendant called upon to open his case. Such a petition is usually written before or after the first evidence has been taken if likelihood of bias is detected on the part of the presiding judge. The petition written by Etiaba against the judge is very unfortunate. It lacks merit. The reasons adduced for the request for transfer of the case are all puerile and ought not to be considered by the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court. It is aimed at intimidating the judge and truncating the course of justice by causing undue delay of the trial. What is Metuh afraid of? If he is convicted, he has options of appealling against his conviction. Some of the senior lawyers are the spanner in the wheel of smooth prosecution of corruption cases. They file all sorts of frivolous applications and unmeritorious petitions to stall proceedings in these cases, all in an effort to subvert the course of justice. This is very unfortunate.

Wike knows all the rigging strategies. He employed them dutifully during the last gubernatorial elections which ensured his victory. What goes around, comes around! The dude should not fret. Amaechi is now poised to match him rigging for rigging and violence for violence. It is now very clear that this Saraki does not want to face trial. He is simply scared of the revelation of his corrupt activities should the trial proceed. What is this man afraid of? He has gone to all level of courts in Nigeria and countlessly abused judicial process to have his trial halted but all to no avail. The highest court of the land has ruled that the charges against him at the CCT were in order, yet he comes up with a frivolous and incompetent application on the day fixed for trial to commence, all aimed at delaying the course of justice. Now, he has lost memory of the number of his loots because they are so many. And a so called SAN that goes by the name of Kanu Agabi is challeging the jurisdiction of CCT to try his rich and influential client after the Supreme Court has ruled on same issue and which necessitated the re-commencement of the case. This senior lawyers should take their eyes off filthy lucre for once and advise their politician clients appropriately. If the CCT rules against the motion, another round of appeals will ensue and the merry go round continues. There must be an end to litigation.

It's either JAMB is scrapped and each University allowed to admit it's students on merit, OR Post UTME exam conducted by the universities after the JAMB exam is stopped forthwith and JAMB made the only body responsible for admitting prospective candidates into universities. Parents are made to pay the examination fees twice to get their wards into universities. This is exploitation! Imagine JAMB and the various universities performing the same function and here we are talking about reducing government agencies to a manageable size inorder to save money for other things! Government should act fast and strealine the admission process in Nigerian universities.

Labour's grouse with Governor Okorocha are that like an imperial majesty, he has through radio announcement sacked workers and closed down government agencies and parastatals without regard to extant rules and laws guiding such acts which he has trampled upon with impunity. 2. Development of huge appetite for withholding workers salaries across board, including allowances of pensioners. 3. Flouting industrial relations law and laid down due process as evidenced in the brazen suspension of workers in 19 parastatals in the State barely 48 hours after agreeing with NLC to act within confines of the law. 4. Deployment of armed private security men and thugs to chase suspended workers out from their offices resulting in injuries to the workers. 5. Condemnation of serial acts of barbarism by the governor against the workers who voted massively for him during the elections in the hope that he will make life better for them. 6. Condemnation of his continuos arrogance and disrespect for laws and procedure. Demands of NLC from the government are as follows: 1. Recall of all sacked workers with immediate effect. 2. To stop further sack of workers without following laid down procedures for disengaging workers. 3. Withdrawal of all security personnel around the workers except those on normal security surveillance. 4. Immediate stoppage of harassment and intimidation of workers by the governor's private armed militia. Following today's massive street protest by the workers, Governor Okorocha capitulated and was forced to eat the humble pie when he announced the recall of the more than 3,000 workers of the 19 parastatals he suspended from work. Victory for NLC? It is not yet uhuru as the governor may still have some tricks up his sleeves. NLC should be vigilant and ensure that the Resolution signed today between the government and labour in this regard is strictly adhered to and implemented without any exception.

Directionless youths ready to sell their soul and conscience for a few naira notes while the politicians continue to exploit and subjugate them to a situation of helplessness and hopelessness, thus making them willing tools for their evil intentions and ulterior machinations. The Supreme Court judgment in this political cases are following a particular pattern. No doubt, decisions on them have already been reached even before the adoption of addresses by counsel. In other words, the judgments are contrived and made to favour a particular political party to the detriment of the party which lost. Rivers and Akwa Ibom elections ought not to stand as they were marred with irregularities as rightly held by the the two lower courts. These judgments do not sit well with our democratic experiment. Political parties will now go back to the drawing board and perfect the act of rigging and violence in elections since the party that rigs more and causes more violence will always secure victory at the Supreme Court. Those judgments will not pass any strict legal scrutiny since they were products of political consideration.

Oyegun's call for the probe of the Supreme Court Justices who have delivering patterned judgments of late in political cases before them is understandable. The judgments defy logic and understanding. Rivers election which returned Wike as governor ought not to stand. The judgment of the Tribunal and Appeal Court which nullified the election of Wike reflected the actual outcome of that election and is the correct and true judgment as it pertains to that election.

This view is held by the poster because of the number of political cases Wole Olanipekun has handled at the apex court. However, that does not qualify him as the best lawyer in Nigeria but he is good at what he does. That term is relative. There are other good lawyers as well. In this wise, no lawyer can be referred to as the best lawyer in Nigeria.

This order or directive does not carry weight. Such oral directive on such an important issue that has to do with the administration of criminal justice cannot be made off-handedly in such an environment. The Chief Judge has to issue a Practice Direction to this effect if he is really serious about precluding magistrates from granting Remand orders against persons accused of committing an offence. Even at that, issuing such Direction will run contrary to the intents of ACJA which did not preclude magistrates from exercising their discretion in this regard.
