Hellhuh?
Hell in this context is a garbage dump, a burial place for the dead where refuse are burnt with fire, that is why your body can be cast into it. It is a stigma, a form of condemnation. This is different from the lake of fire in revelation. In that vision both hell and the sea gave up the dead in them. Even the symbolic death as well entered the lake of fire, so context is very important. This scripture is certainly not about the lake of fire in Revelation.

How can your hand and eyes or your full body go into the lake of fire? And where in that passage did you see lake of fire?

Bro, you're asking good questions

You're normal

This is how atheism starts

Asking questions and realising the BuyBull is full of crHarp

There's a reason we were taken to church and told those stories since we were born, they indoctrinated us

They made us recite "5 loaves of bread and 2 fishes" over and over hereby shutting down our abilities to question those folklores, its the same way while we were young we believed all the stories about how tortoise got its cracked looking shell, we believed each stories about it despite one story of how tortoise's back became cravked is different from another story of how it also became cracked, eg we believed the tortoise fell from a great height after two birds were carrying him with a stick and he used his mouth to hold the stick but wanted to boast about it while on air so he opened his mouth and fell

2nd story is that tortoise made the elephant angry and got stamped on but was lucky that his shell actually protected him but became cracked from the pressure

There are so many stories, each one leading to cracked tortoise shell

We believed these stories for years into our adolescent years

when something be it lie or truth is repeated over and over, your mind starts accepting it as truth especially when its repeated at home (parents and relatives), in school (CRK) and in church; a kid would believe ANYTHING and EVERYTHING he/she is told. When you read a book always throughout your formative years, you're bound to take it as truth

I believe if you're a Christian, what popped all these questions up is that you finally read the BuyBull like its your first time reading it, one doubt leads to another and the imaginary veil used to cover your eyes fell off

Keep asking those questions bro, you'll finally become atheist and free yourself from the fake stories we've been made/forced to believe
You are wrong, from my discussion with him l realized he is a Muslim. Muslims already believe many of the stories you deride, for example they believe Jesus performed miracles and even more fanciful miracles not found in the bible, such as baby Jesus speaking even as a baby to defend his mother and other stories.

You are right, God is not really important for Buddhism but not all versions of Buddhism. Some versions of Buddhism require a belief in deities. Though l'm not sure, but l think the one practiced in Japan is under this category, though this wasn't important to the Buddha.

RESSURECTION:

If you read Matthew (28:1-10), Mark (16:1-20), Luke (24:1-12), and John (20: 1-18), you will find contradicting stories. They all agreed that the tomb was guarded for three days. However, they reported the discovery of the empty tomb differently.

Matthew (28) and John (20) reported that Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were the first to discover the tomb. Mark (16) reports that Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome were the first to discover the empty tomb.

Mark (28) reports that there was an earthquake that removed the rock from over the tomb. He says that an angel caused it. The other gospels do not mention of an earthquake. Matthew and Mark say that only ONE man in white clothes was sitting on the tomb when the woman arrived, and that he was an angel.

Luke says that TWO men in white clothes, who were angels, were sitting. Johns says that the two women did not meet anybody the first time they came to the tomb, but when they returned, they saw TWO people, ONE was an ANGEL, and the other was Jesus.

Matthew reports that when the guards reported this to the chief priest, the chief priest paid them a large sum of
money, telling them: "You have to say that his disciples came at night and stole his body." He claims that the soldiers took money and spread the story around and since then, the story had been circulating among the Jews until today (according to Matthew).

The other gospels do not report of any such thing.

Which narration now is more authentic?

Why is the appearance of Jesus after the crucifixion taken as a proof of his resurrection when there is an explanation that he was not dead because someone else was crucified in his place when God saved Him?

How did Matthew know of the claimed agreement between the soldiers and the chief priest? Can't someone say that someone paid the women a large sum of money and told them to spread the word around that Jesus rose from the dead, with the same authenticity as that of the story of Matthew?

Why did they believe that man in the white clothes? Why did they believe he was an angel? John's narration is too strange, since he says that Mary did not recognize Jesus(one of the two) while talking to him, and she only recognized him when he called her by her name.

How does an empty tomb prove that Jesus was crucified ? Isn't it that God is capable of removing another man from the tomb, and of resurrecting him too?

The Gospels are believed to be the verbatim words of God, they are supposed to be dictated by the Holy Spirit to the Disciples who wrote them. If the source were the same, why shouldn't they correspond with
each other in reporting such an important event?

How could Matthew, Mark, Luke and John be considered eyewitnesses of resurrection when the Bible implies that nobody at all saw Jesus coming out of the tomb?
If four separate people report thesame event in their own different ways, does that make it false? The fact that there are slight differences from all four accounts even adds to the validity of the story. Besides the accounts agree on many things.
Also l have never heard a christian say that the Holy spirit dictated the gospels but that he inspired men to write. Maybe there are Christians who state such l do not know. Nevertheless you can trust the ressurection accounts, they differ in details but clearly show that Jesus died, was buried, ressurected, first seen by women and later by the apostles for some time.

your standing and success in the afterlife depends on it, whether one will be rewarded or doomed for eternity depends on it and so its the most important thing in the life of a person.
if all these are found to be false tell me how sure you are that other things are not.
if a person is presented with the facts and does not do his responsibility of finding out the truth, then what excuse will he have if THE CREATOR and OWNER of all chastise him for associating partners with him.
GOD can forgive any sin for whoever he wills but GOD will never forgive the sin of associating partners with HIM in his MAJESTY.
stay blessed
This is where you are wrong, your standing and success in the afterlife does not depend on the thirty thousand or hundred thousand horses of David, it depends on how you live life here on earth. The gospel of Jesus Christ is key to it. Every other thing is for our learning and correction. It isn't the bible itself that matters it is what you get from it that counts.
Also what do you mean when you say associating partners with God and why is this the greatest sin?

HOLY SPIRIT:

The only place in the Bible where the Paraclete was called the Holy Spirit is in John 4:26 "But the Paraclete, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance
all that I have said to you". What has the Holy Spirit brought or taught for the last 2000 years?

Christians say that the Paraclete means the Holy Spirit (John 14;26). Jesus said in John 16:7-8 "If I do not go away the Paraclete will not come to you". This could not mean the Holy spirit, since the Holy spirit was said to have been there before Jesus was even born as in Luke 1:41 "Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit".
Here, the Holy spirit was also present during Jesus life time. So how could this fit with the condition that Jesus must go away so that the Holy spirit will come?

In John 16:7-8, it says: "But if go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will convict the world of sins and of righteousness and of Judgment". What do "he" and "him" refer here? Do Not they refer to a man?

Does the Holy Spirit talk to good Christians and bad Christians as well? Is the Holy spirit with them all the time or just at certain times? When does it start visiting a person who wants to become a Christian?

How can you as a Christian tell if the Holy Spirit is inside another Christian? How come many Christians fooled people by claiming that the Holy spirit was inside them only to be converted to another religion later on ?

Does the Holy Spirit dictate what Christians should do without choice or freedom at all or does it only guide them and they have the freedom to follow or not ?

If the Holy Spirit dictates what Christian should do, why do Christians commit sins and make mistakes ? How can you explain the conversion to other religions and atheism of many Christians? Are they told to do that by the Holy Spirit?

If the Holy Spirit guides Christians only, and they are free to do what they want, then how do we know that the writers of the Gospels didn't make mistakes in writing them?

If Christians believe that the Holy Spirit comes and talks to them everyday, why don't they ask the Holy Spirit about which version of the Bible to follow since there are too many versions floating around?
Now l see you know nothing about the bible. Fifty days after Jesus left, the Holy spirit came upon the apostles. Holyspirit is not a man, the pronoun HE is also used for God, is God a man? Come on now you should be better than this.
As for Christians doing bad things, this should not be your excuse, whoever nameth the name of the lord must depart from evil, so by their fruits ye shall know them. The fruits of the Spirit are love, joy, peace, etc. Go read your bible properly man, or as someone said, go to Sunday school so you can be schooled.

Why should a book claim divinity in the first place, the last time l checked all books were written by human hands even the most accurate, poetic, scientific, or spiritual books, this doesn't make them divine in any way. Yes the bible is God breathed, the same way Adam was God breathed, that doesn't make all of it perfect, it is rather useful for learning, correction, and the Christian walk. My two cents.

That's exactly what I'm saying. The victor writes history. If the Nazis had won, with time, we would have continued to evolve to think that what happened was right and it was for the greater good of humanity. Until another idea came to replace it.
**********
Good and evil here are both subject to our mental evolution. . . in biblical times slavery was considered good and normal, now we consider it evil.
If the confederate states had won the American civil war, then slavery would still be a normal thing, and nobody would see it as evil, until another opinion came and won.
And its based on these human events that you cherry pick the passages in the bible to follow.
I have answered you in my previous post that was edited. Also tell me, did the new testament authors cherry pick? Why can't you understand that the bible is not one book, and certainly not a law book, what you call cherry picking was even explained in the new testament and does not come from a so called modern morality. Truth and goodness is what it is, we have always had it in us and it can be recognized anywhere. For instance if slavery would still bring benefits, it would still be practiced, it has nothing to do with an evolved morality. What you call evolutionary discoveries, l call the spirit of truth. Man has always known the golden rule but chose otherwise and would still choose otherwise when it is beneficial, evolution does not help this it only makes it worse. Also remember, what makes you happy may not be what makes me happy, it might even make you sad and vice versa, who decides then? The stronger decides and even the natural process of evolution supports this no matter how you spin or cherry pick it.

why should you care about your happiness? because humans don't like to be sad. you don't 'care' about your happiness, you naturally want to be happy.
Stealing, cheating others, I'm sure there was a time in human civilization that it was not a crime, wasn't there? But as we evolved, we saw that doing that only brings hatred, conflict, etc and causes the people we stole from to get revenge, killing us/ ending our life before we got to enjoy it. Why should we care to enjoy life? That's like asking why we should eat a chocolate cake, even though we know it'll end up as poop. So we realized that that is not the way to go about happiness. As we evolved we put rules in place so that future generations can learn from our experience. If you put a group of babies in the wild, with no civilization whatsoever, they will grow up fight and kill each other, for their own benefit, until they realize that its not worth it and it'd be easier to do things in another way. Our ancestors have already learned this and saved us the trouble of repeatedly going through it over and over again. You could call this mental evolution. I hope you understand now. Human standards change. Just as there was a time when we thought it was acceptable to rape, we evolved to see that it has negative outcomes also, and decided that its unacceptable.
*********
cherry picking or rightly dividing, its the same thing, whatever name you wish to call it. as time goes on, with our mental evolution, some things that are currently acceptable today will be deemed unacceptable. Then the future generations will also 'rightly divide' it out of the things that the bible says we should do. If we can continuously decide what is right and what is not, on our own, then religion is not needed, we don't need any bible to remind us, that is why we set up governments with rules and enforcement agencies to execute those rules.
Hmnn careful now, the Nazis were as civilized as you can get and the communist Government as well set down their own laws via what made sense to them from their evolution and we all saw the result of that. The Nazis could argue that they were right because their end goal was for the greater good, remember that the victor writes history.
Let's face it we did not evolve to discover anything, we are as screwed as we could ever be, the good has always been in us, and mankind have always had what it took to separate good and evil, but we are selfish and constantly choose evil. Of course l never said we need religion for this but the concept of God gives morality a better meaning than your pseudo theory. The fact is even if we are happy and maximize creativity by this theory there's no hope and it doesn't matter anyway. As for the bible call it cherry picking all you like, you would also say the newtestament authors cherrypicked oldtestament, that is your call. See ya later.

If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her.
What kind of lunatic forces a rape victim to marry her attacker?! Its clear that in the bible, women are just mere property, not human beings.
There are many passages like this, I could bring as many as you want. But modern Christians know how to cherry pick the ones that 'don't apply to us anymore'. That basis that you use to cherry pick the commandments of your god is subjective. You can't tell me that you agree that a woman should be forced to marry a man that raped her. The basis you use is subject to the conditions of modern society, the society you currently live in. And I'm asking you to use that same basis in real life. The same way you can tell that condoning rape is wrong is the same way you can tell that Hitler was wrong too. As we have evolved physically, our rules and our perception of wrong and right has evolved along with us, and these perceptions are based on what is most favorable for humanity as a whole. Ok question. Do you think its bad to kill a person because god said its bad, or because it causes unnecessary suffering for others? If you think its bad only because god said its bad, then you admit that its a mere arbitrary decision and likewise another religion can come up and say killing is good because their god said its good. It doesn't take god to recognize the suffering of another person. At this point in our evolution, mankind has realized that true happiness comes from making other people happy. And this is the basis on which most rules that exist in the modern world are made, the protection of other people's happiness. Its only in a society that everybody is happy that we can be the most productive and, knowing that our lives and existence are finite, make the best by experiencing things of it before our cycle in the universe is complete and a new one takes over.
You don't get it, why should l care about my happiness or yours when we are just insignificant components of matter that would soon pass away, soon the earth itself would pass away, and so why should l care. I love cheating others to survive, stealing, lying, etc makes me happy, nothing matters anyway.
.......
On a side note though, morality is not objective because it is commanded by God or anyone rather it is because it is defined by God's nature meaning the Good is the ultimate, you do not need the bible's command for it, however the bible is there to remind you. Also what you call cherry picking is the act of rightly dividing scriptures, everything in the bible is for our learning, so that we make the decision but not everything was written directly for us. So you know which applies to us and which does not, this is why we also have the spirit of truth.

Religion. . . honestly it's really funny, its funnier that people pay pastors money to tell them these stories lol. . .
Another question I have, if you, by yourself, can tell that some things in the bible are wrong, e.g condoning rape, condemning eating shellfish, destroying women's rights, etc. . .
Then why can't you apply that same common sense to real life to tell right from wrong without the use of religion?
Yes we condemn Judas because his action was immoral, God has a way of turning the tables on the wicked by even using their immoral action to still achieve the good, since he can't stop them from doing the evil due to their freewill. I wonder why this is strange to you, or is it that it is hard to get?
Also l do not know where bible condones rape or destroys women's right, bible report stories, and hardly condones anything.
Of course we do not need religion for morality, but without a God, morality cannot be objective, which means your right to condemn Hitler or even the bible for that matter is subjective and has no basis.

That's just one of the discrepancies in the bible. And you feel its irrelevant but then again, its the basis of Christianity. Hell and heaven, Jesus dying for our sins, free will. I believe that I have free will, because its obvious to see, but these people have been telling me that god knows what I'll do with exact detail. I recommend you read the thread from the beginning if you have the time.
Nice, l understand perfectly well what you are saying and we agree on many things because in matters of philosophy there's almost no perfect answer, for instance l believe that God is not in control of our choices, he is however in control of events, and can use our choices whether good or bad for his ultimate purpose. This in turn does not make our choice moral. This is why l say the matter of Judas or the betrayal in itself does not make Judas a hero, just that God knows our choices(whether good or bad) would not stop his plan, and he could even make the best out of them, but he would prefer that we always choose the good.

However, the African man swallowed everything these white people brought to Africa without examining it thoroughly, and constantly cling to the illogical beliefs because its so scary to admit that everything they've believed in while growing up, to this point, is a lie. No intelligent person can say that if Christianity was a new religion, brought from Europe by the white man today, that it would sound perfectly logical to them. Proof of my statement is in all these new religions springing up, which are just as ridiculous and illogical as Christianity, and people laugh at them and say it doesn't make sense. If only they could view Christianity objectively, using the same lens.
Christianity does make sense in what it teaches, your question is a philosophical one, and philosophy is always confusing. Our problem is that we focus on irrelevant things. Ehen! Now you're talking. ALL the Christians I have come across say that god has planned everything ni o. . . divine design. . . and it MUST happen in the exact detail he planned it. . .this scholar up here just said it himself that god already knows the end point with 100% certainty, and that is the definition of omniscience. Ok. So in your form of Christianity, god is not scholar-version omniscient/your definition of omniscience agrees with wikipedia, which means NOT knowing the future with 100% certainty. Good. He does not know exactly what will happen, but just says what is most likely. i.e John 3:16 is a guess, albeit a well informed guess. Do you see what that implies? The whole of Christianity is based on a gamble of Judas betraying Jesus so Jesus would be killed. Because according to you guys, Jesus' bloodshed is the ONLY way that you can be saved. Its a well informed, highly probable guess, but its a guess nonetheless. Which means that in the off chance that Judas did the right thing, as well as everyone else, the Jesus would not be killed and mankind would not be saved. So we actually have to appreciate Judas for taking the choosing to do the wrong thing so that god can send 'woe unto him', because by doing that, he facilitated the salvation of mankind.
***********************
Talking with you guys brings me to a conclusion that if this historical figure Jesus actually existed, then he died BECAUSE of our sins and not FOR our sins(the idea of his blood symbolically washing away sins is ridiculous). That's the only way that the whole thing can make sense. However, that is not Christianity.
Yeah he died because of our sins in my opinion as well, however the idea of the sacrificial blood relates to the story of passover, the Jewish custom and religion celebrates passover as the beginning of freedom and jubilee.Jesus however reinterpreted passover and makes it all about his sacrificial death, the celebration now is that of community with bread and wine remembering the comittment of the master to the course and his love which in turn inspires us to move on inspite of persecution. This is my opinion though.
...

Also your idea of omniscience is an absolute which l do not agree with. God is not in control of human choices but he can predict the most likely choice given the circumstance, humans however are still in control of that. This however is irrelevant to God's divine knowledge of the beginning from the end. God knows how it would all end but he does not control all details because he gave us freewill and our choices are involved. Ciao.

Even the john 3v16 you quoted still depends on our choice.. WHOSOEVER. Also like scholar has said even if Judas did not betray him maybe he would have died some other way. God giving up his son, simply means God made him mortal, and all mortals die. God's plan through his death is to bring life through him,and Judas betrayal adds little or nothing to this plan. The motive for betraying his master was not to facilitate salvation but for his interest, something which he regretted. Another would have betrayed him if not Judas, and even that person may choose not to if he is pure. After betrayal the person could also choose to repent like peter and not hang himself.

The problem is that you think God predetermines every detail of our life even before we were born, l do not share this view. Rather God is wise enough to state what is most likely in every situation given his wisdom and superior knowledge. And so the child is forced to use his left hand to write. Then the teacher flogs him (sends him to hell fire) when he uses his left hand, and calls him a bad child. This is Christianity.
If l understand scholar correctly,he is saying though the child is paralyzed in his right hand yet the teacher has offered to help by pulling him up via his right hand, because using the left hand is bad for him and would destroy him. It is not the teacher that destroys him but rather the teacher offers help, the boy rather always choose to use the left hand refusing the teacher's help, and the teacher can always tell that would be the case.

I have one question for you.
You know the entire case of christianity is based on the so called crucifixion of Jesus, and you guys make it so important, why was it never ever mentioned at least once in the old Testament ? I'd think a major event like that should have least been prophesied in the old Testament
How do you interpret Isaiah 53.

write ur int. Passport number there.
Correct me if l am wrong, but l believe he is talking about the Vat ld, not the tax ld above it. Usually the vat ld is left blank, while the tax ld requires ur passport number or tax number.

The admission letter doesn't carry any thing about fees as such. Please did you request for it or how did you prove the 8k is all for studies.
Send an email to your school requesting for the invoice. For the blocked account, you can put living expenses as the reason for the 8k, except it is for tuition.
